Brilliant atmosphere with a host of quirky fittings. Now I like this place and perhaps we went on a bad day, Friday. We had pizza's. Over use of cheese and wooden cutlery is not an appeasing combination. But the worst aspect was a table of Scandinavian tourists, having spent on alcohol, being told that 1930 hrs was too late to order food! The table next to us and we,shared our food with them. Come on. You really could do better.

Friendly staff but a bit of an abomination to be honest. Decor has so many characters it's bordering on schizophrenic. I know it was Sunday but I actually thought I'd accidentally walked into a car boot sale.

What a fantastic pub and full of retro, funky items. Go down the stairs into the Vaults/cellar, and you'll be amazed at what greets you...wow! Great relaxing and calm atmosphere with good beers and drinks. There is some food available, and maybe next time, I'll try the chef's burger. The music in the background was excellent and fitted in with the good vibes of this amazing pub. Definitely recommend a visit to this pub. The landlords and locals are fantastic.. Thanks for an amazing experience, and I'll definitely be back again.

What a unique place ! Definitely not what we were expecting when we walked down the stairs.. quirky but so friendly and the burger meal was delicious and great value. Highly recommend!

Quirky underground venue with friendly vibes. Wide variety of seating. Got lively on a Saturday night - but a bit loud. Good beer on tap, but they wouldn't set up a tab.

Surprise stop off on our way through the area, definitely worth a stop, nice and warm and good priced drinks, quirky and very comfortable.

Been several times now and has quickly become a favourite. Quirky, fun decor and surprisingly good food. Can recommend the pizza!

Visited when passing through ellesmere and the drinks were lovely and the staff extra friendly especially when we asked if they had a chess set and brought us all sorts of games..Also the dogs said they had the best ham there.

Lovely place, great to meet the owners, fantastic atmosphere, lots of cool things, recommend a visit if you are in these parts.

The Vault is decked out in a vintage/retro shabby chic style. With dim lighting making for a relaxing atmosphere. The owners, staff and regulars are good spirited and friendly. They have at least two quality lagers on tap at a time, two craft ales and two ciders/fruit ciders. Not to mention an extensive cocktail menu. It has a beer garden, which is a massive bonus on sunny days and could easily be overlooked bearing in mind the venue is situated in a cellar. Overall, I would definitely recommend!!!

I had an appointment & got there early so had half hour spare... so nipped into the vaults on my own, very welcoming, nice atmosphere, gorgeous space very quirky

Very interesting array of memorabilia to look at and the vaulted ceiling was very impressive. Friendly service and reasonable prices. Music was not quite to our liking and rather loud but tolerable.

First time visit, great location for a few drinks. Lovely atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit

I love this little pub in Ellesmere! Quirky and decorative surroundings a friendly, cosy atmosphere.

My partner Deb and I visited for the first time yesterday. The food was outstanding and the staff were exceptionally welcoming. Had a great chat with the business owner about the fascinating building and its resident ghosts. Highly recommend the food and drink, well worth visiting if you haven't already :)

Been here a few times now. Last Friday the place was very full and a few too many loud young school children, not under control. This week, real ale not available and mixers were flat. Companion couldn’t taste the rum at all in a double rum and coke. Didn’t drink it in the end. Polite staff. Quirky decor. One of the old leather seats rather past shabby chic and held together with black tape. Cocktails very nice.

This is a really good bar. Being underground with vaulted brickwork gives it a great feel. The decor is just right and there's a triffic good smoking area to the rear that isn't underground. We'll done to the friendly staff.

Omg wot an amazing pub, we stayed in one local B&B over weekend, out walking came across this fantastic pub the vault like going into cavern down stairs in Liverpool 😱, wot an amazing place full of exciting memerbila inside, it's also set up lovely with all Xmas Dec's 🎄😱 sooo cozy and snug warm and friendly atmosphere, everyone talks to everyone even if you don't no them 😊 staff are amazing and the manger so friendly had fantastic chat with her, will defo be going back again a worthy place to go to if your staying over in the village 10/10 be seeing yous again soon sue mick from Liverpool 😊

Friday night staff were fantastic, however Sat night, wow, personalities of the year. They were rude and owner is happy for one of them to drink on duty. Owner himself is rude and abnoxious. Pity as the pub is great looking inside however seriously let down by the poor and unprofessional management. Would not go back in there if you paid me to..loads of other friendly pubs in the area to spend your money on.

A quirky little bar, stylishly decorated and very comfy. Friendly staff are a big bonus especially the young lad who was 16 but sadly we can't remember his name.

Really like The Vault, we have recently to Ellesmere and this has become a favourite. Nice atmosphere, great furniture and great beers

Went in for Friday night comedy night, great laugh and good beer!

We came here for a quick drink but stayed 3 hours. the Staff are lovely and Friendly the price of drinks is reasonable and a wide variety, we sat out in the beer garden and watched the Sun go down. very interesting decor.

We called in for a visit and it is a hidden little gem of a place.It has a live bands on certain nights and is very busy at weekends.The decor is very nice it takes you back a few years, if drinking in in the town this place is must.

After seeing it advertised that great cocktails are served here we visited last night only to be told " we don't do cocktails during winter months." Lovely place but cocktails shouldn't be advertised if unable to provide them.

Weekend away in Ellesmere and came across this pub. What a fantastic surprise. The pub was decorated out for Christmas so tastefully, mulled wine warming and served by friendly staff and a nice mix of sociable customers. We visited three times during our stay because it was so lovely. Only pizzas available of which we didn’t get round to sampling. An absolute credit to the owners and would definitely revisit. Absolute must do if you are there at Christmas time. Wish we lived nearer but thanks for making our Christmas break extra special.

This venue is very different to most places you are likely to have come across.The bare brick walls and vaulted ceiling are skillfully complemented by appropriate decor and furniture. The only food available is pizza, but it is very tasty and the managers are keen to make your visit a good one.If you are in Ellesmere, be sure to pop in for a pint. There is a steep flight of stairs, but there is a rear and level entrance around the back.It's also dog friendly.

A wonderfully quirky little bar, hidden away underground. Funky decor and a relaxing ambience. It can get quite busy towards closing time. Drinks were super cheap! I'd recommend the Refresher cocktail (see the cocktails board to the right of the bar). Would certainly revisit!

Dropped in here for a quick beer because it looked interesting and yes what a great place, very different and very impressive. The beer was great and my other half had a shire gin which apparently was brilliant. This is a must do pub when in Ellesmere.

Either someone has just robbed a quirky second hand shop of all its furniture, or there is an actual 70s time warp in a Cavern like bar in deepest Ellesmere, or someone has some mixed up style sense. Either way this is a must visit bar. Quiet Sunday afternoon with a few locals in, you are transported to a different time and/or place. Well enough stocked bay, friendly barman, some outside seating, decent music playing in the background. Didn’t notice cocktails or food, but possibly just not serving at the time.

Fantastic bar great friendly atmosphere

What a great place. Just got back from a nights stay in Ellesmere where we found this. Ventured down the steps to find the most amazing place. We had the dog with us and straight away the owners where coming over with a bowl of water and biscuits. The setting is brilliant and the antiques and collectables add a great touch. We will be going back to stay in Ellesmere just to go back here. A wide range of drinks at very good prices. If you like the Cavern in Liverpool you will love this place, and some more.

Great atmosphere very friendly staff

If you've ever watched Hustle, then this is Eddie's bar! Underground and quirky. It is probably one of the best finds along the Llangollen canal , so far! Whatever your tipple and they do try to cater for many, it is the eclectic furnishings and leather sofas that attract. The beer is quite good and the allow dogs. Ticks all the boxes!

A great place with a wonderful atmosphere! I play music here with my band and I couldn't recommend it enough!

25 of us dropped in on a 'quiet' Wednesday night. We were made to feel welcome and stayed for the evening instead of touring Ellesmere!
