Cassie and the team at the vale are absolutely brilliant , great atmosphere and always a warm welcome. Food choice is excellent but i always recommend the carvery, the best in Nottingham BY FAR! Dog friendly too, and a pool table and darts as a new addition to the place is a game changer! Can’t recommend the place enough!

This chef has lost the plot, when Trevor was there the food was AMAZING, but now it is AWFUL. the beef used to be so tender it melt in your mouth, now you need a hack saw to cut it, the vegetables used to go into water and be cooked instead of just showing them to water and being rock hard. Infact the veg today was hard broccoli, hard cauliflower cheese, the roasties looked and tasted as though they were warmed up from last week. So all in all vile.

Great little pub, fantastic food (home cooked), good service and wonderful staff. Very friendly and always made me feel welcome.

The carvery was excellent, however in a room with unruly children; screaming, running about, causing mayhem! Of course the parents didn't do anything about this...if you bring children into an adult space...make them BEHAVE!!!

Held my daughter’s graduation gathering here, the buffet was superb, lovely staff and atmosphere, Great prices and a good location. Family travelled from the north to attend and said what beautiful food and atmosphere it was. Was perfect to celebrate my daughters achievements Would highly recommend

Amazing roast dinner, it's the best roast I have eating out in a long time. Beef and gammon, tasted great,roasted potatoes crispy like they should be all 3 off us think it's best you can get

not been to the vale since it has had new management , walked in today around about 3.30 pm Sunday 11th Aug. payed for my carvery and drink, went to get my dinner, asked the young lad if i could have beef, couldn't believe he had cut the beef wafer thin ( he must be on a bonus ) and received two small pieces, I nearly said something to him but no I kept quiet. the rest of the potatoes and veg didn’t look very appetising, before it was took over I regularly visited the vale most Sundays over the last 10 years or so, it was always lovely and you got a decent portion of meat, after today I don't think I'll bother returning to the vale and certainly wouldn't recommend it

Sunday lunch for three people was a disaster. All meals stone cold despite within fifteen minutes of opening. Poor service. I sent an email of complaint which now after four weeks has failed to produce an answer

Dropped into The Vale for a Sunday lunch. The carvery meal was very good, lots of meat and a good selection of vegetables. The staff are very welcoming.

Was a wonderful place nice and quiet at the time we when we had a carvery but not much to choose from got told Sundays are better so we will be going again 😀 and the staff was really nice and helpful

Staff very unpleasant. Ignoring customers over the them phones.... concentrate on them self instead of customers... not recommended perhaps you want to be insult by staff etc

My Husband and I went for a Carvery today 27/07/2024 and we walked out, I had the Gammon and my Husband had the Beef, the Beef wasn't from a joint it was out of a side container, it was so under cooked it was tough he couldn't cut it, I had the Gammon which was off a fresh joint which was fine. The veg consisted of shrivelled carrots which didn't taste very nice, Broccoli which was burnt and the worst Cauliflower cheese we have ever had. so my Husband left all his dinner and I only ate my Gammon. The chap serving kept looking down his nose at me after I told him I wasn't a Guy, so obviously he got the hump. Never going to the Vale again the experience was terrible. I only gave them a 1 because there was no 0...

We went to The Vale for tea, I had smothered chicken, the veg was clearly left over from lunch it was cold and the Diane sauce was terrible again cold.

We’ve visited The Vale a few times now for the Sunday Carvary…Its easily one of the nicest we’ve been too! The staff are so nice and attentive and the food is always fresh and tasty and such good value for money in comparison to other places on a Sunday. Only one little thing..the tables are always clean and presented nicely but they are a bit sticky, lol! We look forward to our next Sunday treat and we will definitely tell family and friends to try the Carvary too! ☺️

Went here for a carvery lunch with family, the quality of the food was shocking the beef was very tough the mashed potato was cold and tasted like instant mass, only two choice of vegetables. There was one table only we could use as all the others in the carvery seating area still had plates on from the previous people. Not a salt pot in sight instead sachets of salt scattered on the table. There was an elderly man asking for some different meat as the beef was so tough he couldn't chew it, the lady who was serving just walked away into the kitchen and closed the door behind her,another member of staff had to come and help him. The whole place looks very run down the entrance door is all damaged the seating the seats and benches outside are dropping to bits, the broken ones need to be moved before someone has an accident.

Fish and chips . Totally terrible fish wet and funny taste definitely not beer battered as said . Chips terrible most had black bits on . Mine came with mushy they not to bad , mum's had normal peas that were cold . We paid £10.99 each meal . Told staff offered us free dessert we said no eventually on our way out got given £10 back . Would not recommend.

Had oyr daughters birthday party here. Very reasonable price for booking the function room. What was most pleasing was the communication and helpfulness of the staff around any requests we had around this booking and event. Very easy to talk to and made this stress free.

The restaurant was great, especially the attention from Luana. Highly recommended!

I held my husband’s 40th birthday party in the function room and we had a great night, the manager and team were very attentive and nothing was too much to ask. They decorated the room and set the buffet table out perfectly. The night was a huge success.

Nice food but on a par with Toby carvery service not so good

Fantastic staff, the roast dinners is amazing, it's made from scratch, none of that frozen Iceland stuff! The chefs are very polite and feel very welcoming which creates a lovely atmosphere. Shout-out to Adele, shes helpful and always works with a smile on her face.

Be careful going here, especially if you are taking kids. The last time I went here there was an XL Bully dog inside the pub with no muzzle. The skinny man holding it couldn’t control it. No one behind the bar said anything.

We went for a late lunch today, 3 adult carvery’s & 2 kids meal, the food was fantastic, we will definitely be returning! Everything on the carvery was beautiful & the kids really enjoyed their meals which also came with ice cream! The staff were all super friendly & welcoming they couldn’t be more accommodating. The price was also spot, we can’t wait to return in the future!

Love coming here for a carvery and the kids love the children's menu! Friendly staff, great food and good prices. Have been many times and will be coming many more.

Booked the room for food after a funeral the food was excellent. There was something for everyone and I have picky eaters in my family. Loved the meringue pudding. Would definitely use it again should I need somewhere for food. Lots of choices nice and fresh. Staff refilled on request and provided foil for food to take home as it was too good to waste. Thank you all the hard work you put into it. 👍🏼

We had our sons 18th birthday party & couldn’t have been happier with the staff, service & venue. The staff were very helpful & approachable & went above & beyond! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend & cannot thank you enough as our friends & family had a brilliant night!

We had a couple of good carvery meals, but last one my husband and I were ill afterwards. It puts you off, as we only eat there that day.

Worst food ever been served better tasty food whilst in hospital!

Stopped by recently for a few drinks with friends, the atmosphere in the pub was gorgeous, and great value for money. Staff were welcoming and friendly, particularly the bartender Liv who made the experience more enjoyable and provided great conversation and service. Would definitely recommend.

Absolutely awful pub. Didn't even manage to stay and eat. I went with a friend and my assistance dog. I was aggressively told when stating that we'd come for the carvery that I couldn't sit with my dog in the carvery room. I questioned this a bit more as having an assistance dog, they are allowed by law to access anywhere within reason. I was keen to know if these reasons were valid. I asked how I would get my food if I couldn't take my assistance dog in to the room. I was told yes I could take him in for this purpose, but couldn't sit with him in there. Upon further questioning it turned out that that didn't have a solid answer. Through shouting at me, I was told a dog hair may escape into the food. Possibly, but this is very unlikely, and could happen at any point through out the pub which is all open. The next reason was well there may be someone that is highly allergic. Possibly, but that isn't my problem. This is a dog friendly pub for a start, and if they're that highly allergic, they wouldn't be in here. Plus me walking through to get my food would cause a problem. Thirdly when she was loosing the argument, she resorted to, people may not like dogs. Again I said. That isn't my problem. I am here with my assistance dog that I need to mitigate my disabilities. You cannot tell me I cannot access areas because people don't like dogs. It's disability discrimination. They have to chose to go somewhere else. And besides it's a dog friendly pub. I was told to piss off and not be so small minded. I'd advise anyone who is disabled to give this place a wide birth. They don't accommodate you. They have no idea of the disability discrimination act. All they kept saying was they were there to make a profit. While I could see that, I believe if they had let us seat ourselves first without stating the rules and pointing her finger at us as if we were naughty children and stating what we couldn't do we possibly would have stayed and spent money. Whereas I wouldn't go back there if it was the last place on earth.

Definitely will not come back and definitely wouldn't recomended to anybody to eat here if you Care for your health and wellbeing. Waited almost 1,5h for burger and soup in dirty bowl just to find a piece of plastic in it. Looks like 'homemade' soup is boiled with whole packaging. Makes you wonder if anybody is actually doing any checks on The kitchens in places like this. Would give a minus star if could. Be safe people.

Horrid carvery meat dry and tough Yorkshire pudds flat roasts soggy gravy’s lumpy and salty not nice at all will not go back. Not much choice of veg either.

Paid £12.95 for a carvery to be given 2 x small slices of meat, complete rip off, we wont be going again. Place is also looking very tired, no soap in the gents too.

Carvery is great value for money

Carvery: roast beef overcooked, very dry. Gravy extremely salty. Vegetables OK not much flavour. Regular cola £3.50 per glass... !

We had food here which was fine but my scampi and chips had no pea's on it and my partner's burger and chips didn't have pea's or salad. Good friendly atmosphere.

Went for Mother’s Day won’t be going again beef was chewy and cold , turkey was cold too staff weren’t very welcoming either been there so many times before it changed ownership never had a bad meal before .also had to wait a while for our table even though it was booked

Went as drive past a lot and seen the new signs outside stating ‘Best carvery in Nottingham’ seems like that quotes from one of the regulars after 10 pints. Very limited range of veg, beef cold and dry, and the room that you sit in to eat the carvery was freezing cold and like being sat in a tiny school dining hall. Far from the best in Nottingham!

Went and had an amazing carvery at such a good price (£9.50, please never increase it haha). Tasty beef and gammon. Potatoes were Incredible and nice and soft. Great carrots and lovely gravy. And probably the best cauliflower cheese I've had in years. Friendly service too, would recommend!

Food was cold served on cold plates Vegetables over cooked roast potatoes burnt Yorkshire pudding over cooked Even my coffee was cold I asked waitress to remove because it was cold she just grabbed it and left No one about to complain

Had my 30th birthday party here nothing was to much , excellent and fast bar service through out the hole night. Staff are lovely and friendly . Also had the carvery here it’s lovely and fresh defo recommend

This is a very popular pub, which must say something. When I arrived, they had just opened. It was cold for the hour I was there. I could not buy a coffee as they said they had just turned the hot water on, so I had none for hot drinks for at least 30 minutes.

Lovely carvery, lots to choose from and great value for money

Very poor choice for vegetarians. It is disappointing to see such a lack of acknowledgement that many people are vegetarian and vegan reflected in the menu. I would not recommend this pub if a member of your group does not eat meat, fish or poultry.

I have been coming to the carvery on a Sunday for along time but on visiting this last Sunday 28th ,I found that the food was not up to the standard that it is usually, it was cold ,only one choice of meat ,what used to take one lady now takes three ,this unfortunately is a place I will not visit again ,very poor

I always enjoyed a carvery at the Vale for many years but have noticed the decline in standards & service over the recent couple of years. Firstly we didn't recognise any of the staff, the service was very poor, a shortage of staff we were told. Miserly portion of beef & cold veg topped with roast potatoes or what should have been roast potaoes but were half cooked so finished up a soggy mess. Such a shame such a great venue has gone down hill to reach rock bottom. One member of staff even working behind the carvery counter with her coat on with long hair not tied up or wearing a hat. Hygiene regulations don't seem to matter any more. We won't be returning.

The food was very mediocre. Roast beef was cooked to death and very unpleasant, roast gammon was tasty. Limited veg and no roast potatoes "because they had roast parsnips" which is ridiculous in my opinion. Not worth the money and I won't return.

We went for Christmas Dinner, It was Wonderful. Food was Awesome, Service Friendly. We all left Stuffed to our collars but still wanting to eat some more because it tasted so Good. Definitely recommend the carvery available throughout the year. Like mini Schwarzenegger's we will be back. 🤟😎

We had our anniversary party here a few weeks ago. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, the food was excellent and there was some nice beer available. We had a great time and we will be back. Highly recommend

A Christmas meal for 46 of us , ( nifty fifties club ) the food was very good , the service and staff were friendly, hardworking and efficient. Also great value at only £15.95 for 3 courses . Would definitely recommend !

We had our branch meeting at the Vale for the first time, we were made welcome, the room was warm, and non alcoholic drinks were not to expensive, plenty of parking, easy to get to,highly recommended buy all our club members.

Met here for a club meeting. Nice pint and bar staff, they kept a side room clear for our meeting of the TOMCC (Triumph Owners Motorcycles Club).

1st ever visit to The Vale, sadly it was for the wake of a friend, the service and friendliness of the staff, and the food laid on was very good I will visit again because the pub has a really good feel to it .

Was there on Friday for a friends wake,it was exceptionally busy but the staff were all excellent and the real ale was excellent too

Wonderful, friendly pub with a comfortable atmosphere. Great selection of quality beers. Food is excellent value and well cooked. Tasty Caribbean food is available on Wednesday nights. Top chef, top staff, top landlord!

Love the Vale Carvery, especially the slow cooked beef. It is great value for money. The reason it has only 4 stars is the serving staff are so miserable, it would be such a different experience if the welcome was warmer and it was served with a smile. We are regulars because it is conveniently down the road. but I’m sure the surly service must put others off from coming back.

Jamaican night was vile.. no meat all bone, Mac and cheese was watery dumplings tasted like doughnuts and the guy who served it was rude! And really tight on the food. Deffo do not recommend 🤮

Clean comfortable pub, the carvery is very popular especially with the elder generation and its one on my food bucket list for me and the doggie to try.

Went for a carvery today and it was horrible. The beef was so tough I struggled to chew it! The cabbage was soggy and the roast potatoes were dry and tasted of stale fat, as though they had been reheated. The chef was rude. I rang the bell to let them know we were there, he stuck his head out the kitchen then disappeared. He came out 5 minutes later, took our tickets, threw them to the side and plated up as though we were an interruption and inconvenience to his day. This used to be the best place for a carvery. Not any more. We will not be back.

Was at The Vale for a party and have to say that we had a really good time. The staff were really friendly and the food was great. Lovely pub with a great atmosphere.

I have never had such awful food. The cabbage was boiled to death, translucent and swimming in water. This transferred to my plate and my food was drowning - all a soggy mess. The FROZEN Yorkshire pudding turned to gloop. A lot of food at the carvery had run out with a while to wait for more. Greasy (almost deep fried) roast potatoes, and my partners beef looked like the sole of a shoe. We hardly ate any food it was so terrible. Staff gave a full refund and the service was good. To top it all off - a spider with creatures in its web - which hung from the ceiling - was above our table and made me feel sick. I didn’t even drink my drink..we just left!! Update: after such a terrible meal (which we didn’t eat) I emailed the head office. They have not responded or acknowledged my complaint, adding a lack of customer service to poor hygiene and revolting food. A family meal is a treat and was something we looked forward to, so our day and meal ruined. Their lack of communication around my email - ironically, says so much!!!

Grumpiest carvery chef around! Food was OK.

Avoid at all costs.We were looking for somewhere for Sunday lunch and this place was mentioned- should have been suspicious when they had a table for 12 at such dhort notice.We all had the carvery at £12.50 - meat was tough (chicken had blood on), stuffing balls had been cremated and the veg was literally swimming in water.The service (especially the bar) was shocking.At least 2 of us have already been sick so a call to environmental health tomorrow.Absolutely shocking

I went in for a carvery and I wasn't disappointed. It was lovely. I got loads of meat and they served proper vegetables. It was hot too.the gravy was proper beef gravy to complement the roast beef. I must say,I've been to Toby carvery and the Vale knocks spots off it. I will only use the Vale from now on.

We had our silver wedding party at the function room at the Vale last night ,cassie and her team did an amazing job .The buffet food was amazing so much and really good quality..highly recommended.

What a great, proper pub. As a first time visitor to Nottingham from " Down South " I was lucky enough to stumble across this place. Great atmosphere created by the friendliness and helpfulness of the bar staff. Thanks a lot guys, I enjoyed my evening. ( Friday 1.9.2023)

Cracking Sunday carvery very friendly helpfull staff.

Attended a great Birthday Party, Buffet food tasty and fresh. Plentiful as well. I visit this place about once a month This place is 150 miles from home and always a great evening. I even feel like is my local.

The Vale used to be very popular for its carvery. Not now. The meat (2 different ones) was good, but the vegetables were left in water, for hours, so were soggy and over-cooked. Yorkshire puddings (Aunt Bessie's) were rock-hard. We thought we'd have a dessert, and chose profiteroles. Oh dear. Soggy, warmed up in the microwave. The filling had leaked out and was just a liquid. No chocolate sauce (profiteroles always have chocolate sauce on). The toilets - of three cubicles, one was out of order, one had a broken lock, but all 3 had seats that were broken. Skidmarks and splashed of diarrhoea in the pan of one toilet. This place seems to have gone downhill. What a shame.

Over 1hr 30 minutes wait on food which is bad when it's a family going to eat and we are supposed to eat together, not separately. Staff didn't say there was a delay in the kitchen or apologise for the wait. One of the orders got messed up and had to wait an extra 10-15 minutes. Food was hot but the onion rings was pathetic. £3.50 for over cooked ones that were like chomping charcoal. Worst I've ever had. It felt as though the staff didn't have a clue or didn't care too much. Did not feel like the staff could not handle a big order at all Also, such a small menu. Never seen such a small menu from a pub before.
