Delicious food, yummy puddings & friendly staff

Usually like the Hutt, had a fair few meals there over the years, no complaints, but the last one slipped below a bit. Only simple fare ordered, a couple of Burgers and some Pasta, but the whole thing looked a bit rushed and unappetising..the Burgers arrived with some lukewarm chips on a plate with no salad garnish, and let's be honest food has to be appearing to the eye...to be fair it's usually really good. The young lady serving us was cheerful and efficient, no complaints there, a good selection of drinks, but the food was frankly a bit ordinary, my wife sent the chips back as they were just about warm, they did come back hot tbf. Don't like to be critical too much and I don't think I am, but on this occasion it wasn't up to the mark for our hard earned....

Anders was a lovely host, made sure we had all we needed and made it available if we didn't, all four of us throughly enjoyed our starters,mains and desserts..we loved the menu...we will definitely go again.

This was a lovely place, the staff were friendly and welcoming and found us a space. The food was delicious and a good size so we were very happy with that. The building itself was very nice and had a very relaxed atmosphere, which was perfect after a long walk. All in all I would say this place is a great place to visit and would suggest it to everyone.

We weren't able to eat outside despite several tables being free, we were told we could only sit in the bar area. So we spent a sunny day with our 7 year old and baby inside in the bar area listening to a couple arguing and swearing at eachother lol. It took a long time to get the food and my side dish which was cauliflower cheese was literally one large piece of cauliflower. The mayonnaise was sour cream but we were so tired and hungry we couldn't really be bothered to complain. Finally the cherry on the top is that blue light discount was down so we payed full price. However the staff seemed nice and friendly so it probably wasnt their fault.

The crispy calamari & Haloumi fries were a fab treat & wonderfully prepared bar snacks. Hospitality is second to none. Cool cider & soft drink was just right. 5* & highly recommended.

Stopped for a Sunday lunch but hadn’t booked. The restaurant was packed but Karen found us a table service was excellent and the food was amazing. Staff looked happy to be at work which is a rare thing! Thank you to Mia who looked after us.

Nice place in a nice location spoiled by overpriced frozen food. We had a Sunday dinner and the roast potatoes were in no way shape or form home made, neither was any of the veg. I’m not suggesting they should be, but when they are charging mid to top end money, they can’t be serving up Aunt Bessie’s. We sent my son’s meal back which was a chicken burger due to the rock hard brioche bun it was served on. The waitress was really nice and helpful but the bun came back ever harder than the first time. Overall not a bad experience just a little underwhelmed by the quality.

We went here for mothers day.there was four of us and we got there quite late in the day but they still had all the dishes available. I would highly recommend the squid and the Korean chicken for stater.for mains my mum had the belly pork which was amazing.good portion sizes and I had the trio roast some people that ate before us was moaning about the roast that made me think maybe I shouldn't have chose that but as they ate most of the food off the plate and couldn't tell the waitress what was actually horrible on the roast I think it was just to get money off their bill. My roast was all cooked really nicely similar to home made roast which when eating out you hardly get. The men had fish and chips which again was a good portion and they had no faults with it. Deserts seemed to be bought in which was a shame but at that point we were so full so it didn't matter too much.we will come back here.

First time visiting The Hutt. I came with my daughter for a nice meal at lunchtime. We were greeted within a minute and sat in a quiet area. It quickly started getting busier but it still felt quite relax. We had garlic mushrooms as starter, the garlic ciabatta was nicely toasted. I had halloumi sandwich which was delicious, you could taste the sriracha mayo without being overpowering and vanilla ice cream for dessert. Overall a great experience, we felt welcomed and the two gentlemen serving us came few times to make sure everything was alright and we were happy with the food. Highly recommended and will definitely come back again.

Excellent. Called in on way past. Got a table - brill service & very good food. Visited 29th dec 2022 with friends. Good food & service. Would recommend this place. This is now 2024 have been here several times since 2022, still as good. Great food & brilliant service. Was looked after by Karen tonight, superb.

Nice place, good food and the family enjoyed it. Service abit slow on the drinks, quicker if you went to the bar your self.

For some strange reason, I didn’t think these guys would be that busy on a Wednesday evening. I was so wrong. We didn’t pre book, but Karen had us seated straight away. Anders and the food we had made it another great evening. We love this place and travel a good 10 miles or so to enjoy an evening out. The atmosphere and welcoming staff make it an enjoyable experience every time.

Lovely food at reasonable prices will definitely came back for Sunday lunch

Three of us went for a meal midday and it’s safe to say that we were all incredibly impressed! We’re quite picky eaters but all of our requests were accommodated for. The food that arrived to our table definitely exceeded expectations. I had the sirloin steak which was cooked to perfection! Our waitress recommended the Merlot and beef dripping steak sauce and it was absolutely beautiful. We weren’t too sure about having desserts but Anders was more than happy to come over and talk us through the menu and the smaller options that they had available. I ended up having a mini pudding and hot drink. The caramelised vanilla cheesecake is to die for! We felt very looked after, the staff were so attentive and friendly. Every time they came over there was a smile on their faces. The chefs should be proud of their work, the food was delicious and we will definitely be back to try something new. Thank you again!!

Great experience from start to finish. Food Was delicious, service was excellent and the atmosphere was nice and relaxed. Anders looked after us well, I cannot fault the service of any of the staff tonight, from being seated to leaving. I will definitely be back!

Nice food with a good selection

Visited the Hut on Sunday, 3rd March. Group of 4. On entering we were greeted with smily friendly staff who directed us to our table. Ordered drinks and checked out the menu. Decided to go for the Korean BBQ chicken strips for our starter as they sounded great. 3 of us ordered them. Wow, so well cooked, crispy, hot (temperature), and tasted amazing. My daughter had the duo of Korean chicken for her main course and also said that it was great. I chose the Sea Bass on pea risotto with seared scallops. I'm not exaggerating and obviously, it depends if you like seafood but this was one of the best meals I've eaten recently. The sea bass was lovely in taste and texture and the pea risotto, although different was very nice and tasty. Only slight disappointment was the 2 scallops. Would have liked more, maybe 4. They were very tasty too. The burger which one of us had was also excellent. Didn't think we would fit desert in but glad we did as both cheesecakes on the menu were fantastic and hit the spot. Overall we all enjoyed our meals and will definitely be going back. Apart from the food I think smily, pleasant staff make a big difference to your experience and it must be hard on your feet all day but a big thank you to Mia and the other staff we encountered. The staff are really nice, there was an issue with a car rolling in the carpark, I managed to stop it and the staff were so grateful and gave me a drink in the house, a really lovely gesture.

For a Greene king pub, this is actually about the best there is. Great food and specials, great service and good atmosphere. Gets busy so if you're eating you'll need to book well in advance.

Very rude older waitress blond bob glasses parked her mokkha in a do not park by the garage sign then reprimanded me for parking by the entrance where there was no sign. My first visit for years. So disappointed. Surly staff should move on.

Had a lovely valentines meal here. Mia who served us was a delight. Very attentive and polite. Great food, lovely atmosphere and great service.

We came into the restaurant, we have never been before the atmosphere was great, menu was fantastic. Food was insulting to the mouth, my husband ordered the fish and chips, the fish looked like a jester shoe, something from Iceland, the chips clearly had been re heated in the microwave as soon as the fork hit the so called chip it deflated, bread and butter, bread was on the turn with a stale tinge to it.I ordered the Keralan curry ,the nann bread was doughy spices just sat and not cooked out, again luke warm. Deserts Apple bramley pie extremely soggy again believe heated in the microwave. Bakewell tart undercooked awful. Totally our fault we should of said something, but because we were with others , chose to remain quiet. The atmosphere is brilliant but food was bloody awful.

Only met up for a date and had a few none alcoholic drinks which to be fair were decently priced nice setting for my date so winner winner chicken dinner

I came here tonight with a friend and her baby daughter and Karen could not have been more attentive. It was very busy for a Tuesday evening, yet Karen made sure on numerous occasions that we were ok and checked to see if we needed anything :) Great company, great food and great service! You can’t ask for better than that!

We joined friends here for Sunday lunch and had a wonderful meal, with fantastic service from friendly staff who did everything to make our visit special. The 7 hour rib of beef was particularly spectacular.

Great evening. We were placed in a very tight space and difficult to sit at the table for 6 of us. They did pull the table out of the corner to allow seating at the end of the table. Started the evening on a negative note but apart from a fairly lengthy wait for food, everything else was excellent.

Food ok but basic not best quality

My friend and I love the Hutt. Nice atmosphere and staff always make you feel welcome. We've been twice in ten days. Good varied menu with extra specials. Never had a bad meal. My friend had the Sunday roast, which looked great (generous portions) and I just had the Belly Pork starter with cabbage. It was presented well and tasted delicious, cooked beautifully. Would definitely have it again.

The steak and ale pie was fantastic but Lisa had a Sunday roast with sirloin beef which was very disappointing with lots of fat on the beef..

Not been for a long time, decide to try for a evening meal. My food came out tepid. Staff polite and agreed to change it, but meant we didn't get to eat our dinner together. When came to pay they refused to accept my blue light card. , saying i need to use the spp?, i didnt have my phone with me. Won't be returning.for back.

We visit The Hutt most weeks and find it a great place to eat. Lisa and Karen are first class in their service and friendliness. The main menu is diverse and there are additional specials available. Prices are competitive, and even better if you take advantage of some of the discount schemes that they participate in such as The Gourmet Society. Like any large and busy venue they will have the occasional glitch and a good venue will address any issues. We have found that the Manager, Kayte, will go the extra mile to put things right on the odd occasion that things may not be perfect Long may be our regular visits continue to be as enjoyable as they have been for a few years now

Went there for Christmas Dinner. Confirmed the specific seats 6 weeks prior and again the day before only be told we were stuck in the back with no fire by the kitchen with nothing they could do about it despite us having confirmed twice that we were to be in the main toasty warm atmospheric main room. Service was rude and slow. When we stated our issue the staff were completely unapologetic and unbothered "computer say no". We asked for other fire to be put on, which they did and then let go out within 10 minutes. Food was nice even if we did have to see the chef come out and throw a strop and things about at the servers. Service slow (but it was a busy Christmas day that could of been overlooked if we were seated in the warm) drinks requests needed to be reminded. All in all kinda ruined Christmas day. Won't doing that again. Edit: amazing customer service to make up for this. Makes me think is was a blip rather than the norm. So edited my review

Had a lovely breakfast here. Highly recommend the full English! Food was high quality and cooked to perfection. Plenty of parking space, dog friendly and very clean. Will definitely be back 👌😁

A late lunch on Boxing Day, service very hit and miss, food extremely limited for vegetarians however it did taste nice. Disappointing for a family meal at a special time.

We came for Christmas dinner, the food was great and we had a lovely time. Lisa, karen and the team were rushed off their feet but managed to cater all of our needs. The place was decorated lovely and everyone was given Christmas crackers. Would definitely recommend and will be booking again next year.

Thanks to all at the Hutt for making lunch with my 90 year old Dad a happy and memorable experience. They went the extra mile to cater for Dad's dietary requirements and I hope we will be able to join you again soon.

Terrible Christmas experience, out of 6 meals only one was hot and edible. Had many great meals here but a restaurant is only as good as your last meal there. Won't be going again.

We had our works Christmas meal for 20 people at The Hutt. Kayte, Karen and the team were so helpful. The food on the day was amazing and we all had a wonderful time. The staff were attentive and kind. We had a great time....

We called in on the way back from Nottingham on a Wednesday afternoon at about 1,30 to grab a bite to eat for 3 of us. When we walked in there was a fair few people eating but lots of empty tables all around. We waited patiently at reception while watching two members of the team who looked to be fiddling with a stereo or something similar behind the bar. It took them about 5 mins to come and talk to us. We asked for a table for 3 to be greeted with a fairly abrupt have you booked. When we told the lady that we had not, she made no effort to try and accommodate us, all we got was a we are full. I appreciate that they may have had no availability and I can totally accept that (we called in on the off chance), however, there are ways of letting people down without making them feel so awkward or even foolish about the situation.

Went for Christmas Dinner with work. The turkey was nice but didn't rate the rest. One long thin slab of Christmas pudding on a flat plate. Who has ever heard of that!!! Needs to be better.

No roaring fire to hide & thaw out from the wet n cold winter weather if youre just drinking... that reserved for diners only...

Dept went for Christmas Dinner on a Friday tea time. Pre booked for about 20 of us. The seating arrangement would have been OK if we were all children. Too tightly packed. Even when we complained nothing was done. Been several times before and sat in the conservatory which is just above freezing in winter. Place is lovely but a bit pricy. We won't be having Christmas Dinner there again.

For a dog friendly pub, very little choice of comfortable places to sit, only in bar area, although flooring and flow was very difficult to see what the difference was except more comfortable seating and waitress service.

Very nice pub near Newstead Abbey. Main were lovely but the "mini puds" though tasty were more like micro puds. Such a pity 😔.

First time to the hutt the food was lovely i had the chicken and ham pie which was really nice the service was good waitresses very polite and nice unfortunately I won't be going again due to the two local men that was sat at the end of the bar being very sarcastic because I asked why you don't take cash it wasn't a problem paid on card it's not very good for your business when you have local people driving people away through sarcasm it felt like they just wanted to kick off apart from that incident lovely little pub really nice food and nice stuff

Staff very helpful. Not much selection of bitters or real ales and expensive. Also portions were too small for the price compared to other establishments. This is a shame because the environment is nice.
