The Urmston in Trafford

9 of us aged 12 to 78 plus a dog had Sunday lunch at The Urmston pub yesterday. Food was hot and tasty, all plates arrived at the same time and our waitresses were polite efficient and very helpful. All tastes were catered for including vegetarian and dairy intolerant and we all thoroughly enjoyed our experience. It was good that our dog was allowed inside and there is a large seating area outside. We will definitely return

Visited as a large group, service was good, hubby had fish & chips it was 3.30 so maybe had been left but it was disappointing, fish was dry, peas warmed in microwave so had a skin on top, I had Sunday lunch plenty of lovely meat, rock hard roast though and smash potatoes, not sure I’d go again

Highly recommend! The food was excellent and all staff were very friendly and helpful, making sure we had everything we need. We came to celebrate a 30th birthday and they made it extra special with their singing ha!

My son and I had the Roast beef Sunday dinner on 11th August. I had the regular and he had the large. The large was extra beef and pigs in blankets. It was really nice. The beef was sliced not too thick and wasn't too thin, some places slice it nearly see through. It was tasty and filling. The place was clean and really nice. The staff were a really nice mix of friendly and professional. The place was recommended to me and I'd definitely eat there again.

Always the best service from this local pub. Went for late night food and drinks on Sunday evening. Really happy with the meal and prices. Super friendly staff very helpful and provide excellent customer service. All the ladies working that night were so lovely. Some food was not available on menu due to it being later in the day. But staff really politely informed me that some food wasn’t available. The lady serving me let me know which dishes weren’t available she was so polite and apologetic about this. Good range of gins and beer would recommend 5 stars

Went for Sunday lunch with my partner. We both had beef roast dinners and enjoyed what we had. The portion was just the right size, we were full but not absolutely stuffed. We would recommend the food here and will definitely be back in future.

Having moved into the area, this is our nearest pub. We have been on several occasions now and I can never fault it. Atmosphere is brilliant, the food is always good. Even when we have had issues, they have always been quick to resolve, therefore it not being an issue overall- nobody is perfect after all!! The pricing is good. We love the bingo nights. Always welcoming and something for everyone. Credit where credit it due

Stopped by for drinks in the afternoon. Manageress on duty in black top with glasses was super rude. I must say her manners were below the average and the product knowledge was pretty much non-existent. Wont be coming here again!!!

This was not my first visit to the pub but was my first time eating and it was a very good experience. I was hungry and opted for the mixed grill which didn't disappoint.

Excellent atmosphere. Food never disappoints, the steak and ale pie is very tasty. Puddings are great.

Nice pub but the kids screaming and running around makes it very difficult to enjoy. Like having dinner in a soft play centre.

The pub had a friendly atmosphere the staff were pleasant helpful the seating was comfortable and the decor was excellent the toilets were clean and tidy also outside were adequate seating arrangements as well so Summing up would highly recommended it

We come here often and they are very good for families with children and dogs. We love the food and they are very well organised with respect to bookings

Managed to cater for a party of 12 of us last minute due to another pub having to cancel are meal. Staff and food were amazing. The staff made him feel really special so we had a happy little boy. Thanks again we had a lovely night xxx

This is our local and we're here a couple of times a week. The food is great along with the service. Friendly staff and a great atmosphere.

Usual story with our visits to J W Lees pubs food is fine the service just doesn’t match it all.Mentioned on booking it was my daughters birthday waste of time it was never mentioned order taken efficiently if slightly uninterested no check back was done it’s afterwards that it goes wrong after looking at our clearly finished with plates for far to long an uninterested young girl sauntered over to ask “have you finished”.With that she cleared the table no mention of would we like a dessert was everything ok nothing then with four empty glasses she asked have we finished with the glasses and took them away too!.The bill was £80 the food was fine but staff need training and told to smile a little it’s in they’re benefit times are tight and people won’t tip them with the service we received.Would we have had a dessert possibly would we have had more drink’s definitely it would have turned £80 into more than a hundred and think of that for every table!.All of it makes you think no one’s bothered if you don’t return and repeat business and consistency it what keeps you going.

Booked in for the festive menu, but it didn’t go through correctly (not sure what happened) and given they order the festive food in based on pre-orders, we thought that we would be on the normal menu. The gentleman who served us did everything he could to make sure we had a festive experience, he managed to get most of the festive menu items available to us, nicely laid the table with wine glasses and crackers, and was generally just brilliant. The food was amazing, especially for the price of £23 for 3 courses, we absolutely loved it - lots of clean plates! And as if that wasn’t enough, there was a pub quiz straight after, one of the best I’ve done, was great fun! All in, a really brilliant evening. Looking forward to returning.

I’d recommend! Food took a long time and atmosphere was filled with drunken old people laughing till they cried about god knows what but I enjoyed my meal very much so! But please stop nagging people to submit a review in e-mails, it’s very annoying.

Visited last Sunday to have the roast dinner, really enjoyed the trio of meats and all the trimmings an excellent portion size and well cooked. We felt safe and comfortable in the nice surroundings, going again on Thursday for the delicious fillet steak!

Live round the corner and not visited for years used to be in every week. Had a lovely meal all Covid safe. Going back again next week. 👍

Visited this afternoon with my daughter and new granddaughter couldn't fault a thing, the staff went above and beyond with making you feel very welcome with all the new rules. The makeover looks great and the food was great.

As soon as we saw they were opening again after Lockdown we booked for tea. Tim met us at the door and we were directed to our reserved table. Everywhere was suitably spaced out and all staff were welcoming and attentive and wearing appropriate masks/visors. Food was ordered and delivered timely and safely... and was absolutely delicious. Cant wait till everywhere is as normal, social distancing prevented hugs to friends but wouldnt keep me away. Definitely worth the wait

Booked in for Sunday lunch. Found our reserved table easily enough b3cause the board had our name on it. The lady that did table service was cheerful and very helpful. We had the roast lamb lunch. The food was very good, not the usual boiled veggies and the meat was perfectly done. The lunch was a little expensive but happily the extra we paid was reflected in the quality of the lunch. Will definitely be returning.

Never been in the Urmston much over the years and it was ok before but the food was a let down. However, since it's refurbishment it's become our local. Lovely decor, atmosphere, warm fires and finally the food is something worth coming for. Staff and service great too!! Well done. Love coming in now and it's my father-in-law's first request for lunch.

The staff including the manager and his wife made our party very welcome throughout our visit. The traditional Christmas dinner was delicious and well presented in good portion. The staff on duty were polite and very pleasant and the service was excellent. Pleasant interior, clean and well managed. I recommend The Urmston as a go-to and reasonably priced venue for eating out and good service.

Came pin Sunday evening for a meal. Beautifully refurbished, food delicious , service painfully slow despite it being a quiet night in the restaurant. We had decided on a dessert but abandoned all hope after sitting for 20 minutes waiting for someone to appear to take our order. We just asked for the bill in the end. Shame. Food lovely but not sure I’ll return

Travelled to Manchester for Christmas Lunch with family .....to be honest we weren’t expecting too much from a pub lunch on Christmas Day but we were really impressed with both the food ( which was all excellently cooked and presented ) plus really lovely service. Without asking staff were kind enough to move us to a quieter table which was much more relaxing for my elderly parents. Will definitely be taking parents back for Sunday lunch next time we visit. Thankyou for such a lovely meal.

Lovely pub with new decor... just out for a drink and this is the fourth time we have been in since the refurbishment and the pub is always cold ... even with the fire lit .... windows should have been changed ... Well I may slightly biased, love the pub and the re-furb has changed the atmosphere came into today and had the Slow Braised Lamb Henry..... have to say one of the best meals the lamb was tender and with the mint sauce blended well, needless to say one empty plate, surprised I left a pattern on the plate

We had a meal for my sisters birthday! It was very disappointing! Didn’t enjoy main meal at all! In fact me and my sister couldn’t eat ours! The chicken meat looked brown! Then desert was just as bad! My mum and I couldn’t eat ours either! Which I’ve never experienced a poor desert before ever! We got our deserts refunded which was good, but still spent money and was a waste of time! Looks lovely the refurbishment but the menu hasn’t much choice and the food was disgusting to be honest! Won’t go again that’s for sure!

We decided to try the newly refurbished Urmston for my Mum's birthday, there were 9 of us. The food wasn't brilliant, it was ok. I had pasta and meatballs which wasn't very nice at all - I did mention it and wasn't charged for it. The staff were lovely and helpful, but the service was slow - we must have waited over 30 minutes for our main courses, (we didn't order starters). I'm hoping it's teething problems because the refurbishment looks really lovely and the staff seem great.

We visited today for lunch. The staff were friendly and attentive and the decor was good. We both had cheese and onion pie, which was delicious and a generous portion. This was served with a cheese sauce and chips or jacket potato and peas or beans. We have not been to this pub for many years but will definitely visit again soon.

Just returned from a quick visit uo this local pub....not been in for 18 months or so....but what s decline !!!....the gents toilets were an absolute disgrace. .and this was around 9.15pm on a bh sunday !!!!!....really !!!!....

Came to the urmston around lunchtime. Ordered food at the bar and the woman who took our order seemed very uninterested and like it was an effort to serve us. I ordered the breaded chicken burger and it was absolutely terrible. The chicken was obviously a cheap fillet you could buy from any frozen food store and was drippping with clear water when I bit into it. I couldn't eat it. The portion sizes of the chips was awful aswell. £12 for that, definately wont be eating here again... Don't waste your money!

We visited a few times in December and found the place lovely and welcoming- with a good selection of beers and ales to choose from

We always go here for a treat on Mondays. Staff are lovely and friendly but they could use more staff as we always have a wait at the bar. Not always chairs either as they close off the food dining area.

Good pub food - recommend homemade cheese pie. Friendly staff, dogs welcome and good sports room with pool, darts and screens.

Starr really lovely and the food was gorgeous! I have to recommend the tower burger it comes with bacon and bbq beef brisket with fries best burger I’ve ever had! Sat outside which was lovely felt very summery with the greenery, they also have heated lamps for when it’s cold out

Visited yesterday for a family Sunday lunch. £14.95 for a two course lunch seems pretty good value and the Urmston is well maintained and ideal for a young families as there is a small play area outside. There is a reasonable number of parking spaces.
