Lots of empty tables outside we thought we would stop and have lunch as the big a frame board outside stated home made lunches. My partner went in to get a menu only to be told we do not do food. Might explain all the empty tables. I would suggest removing the a frame advertisement as well to save wasting other peoples time.

Decent pub if you like being surrounded by 16/17 year olds being served, moody staff too especially the owner.

Well the unicorn is an expierience, not a great one though. We were stuck for somewhere to eat so by default got the Unicorn. We went for burgers can't really get them wrong can they? Yea they can !! Not good we think this pub needs some TLC and a decent menu

I was visiting friends in Martham and we decided to go nto Aylsham (a few miles away) for a drink or two. We were attracted to the Unicorn as there was music on - a local rock covers band. The beer was well kept and the staff friendly and the band very good. Imagine our disappointment when the landlord told the band not to continue when they finished their first set. We ended up leaving and going to another pub nearby. We cannot comment on the food as we didn't go there to eat

A "proper pub" that does good food, rather than other pubs in the area that are really restaurants that sell beer. It has a large open bar area and a good selection of real ales. It is conveniently in the centre of Aylsham.

Dirty and disgusting.I live in Aylsham and have done for 4 years,i made the mistake of visiting this dump once and never again.Drunk landlord rude landlady filthy dirty.I'm surprised they're allowed to sell food on the premises,it's brewery owned I believe, which makes it even worse.

The Unicorn is a nice place to visit if you want a traditional pub atmosphere - and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.......just don't expect the modern offering of fine dining etc etc

Surprisingly crowded for a Monday lunchtime, noisy, awful 70s decor, chilly, very limited menu, food took 30 minutes to come and we had only two toasties and bowl of chips with cheese. The bacon toastie was inedible, the bacon cheap and fatty, and had obviously been fried in a pan that had not been cleaned properly from its last use. In fact, it was so disgusting I spat put my mouthful! The chips were frozen and had barely any cheese on them - which in retrospect was a good thing as the cheese was tasteless. Altogether the worst lunch I have had for many years. One positive - the barmaid was lovely.

Having recently moved to Aylsham, I wanted to find a pub where I could prop up the bar and relax and hopefully meet a few folk. The Unicorn is perfect for that. Its a regular's haunt but newcomers are not made to feel excluded, If you're a sports fan there's usually a few screens on but they're not on loud or intrusive if, like me, you're not a sports follower.Jukebox is digital and has a varied mix to suit most tastes and the regular Friday Night Life Bands make an interesting change. There's a pool table and different bar areas to suit all tastes.Beer is well priced and whilst I can only speak for the Lager, its well kept and consistent. It somewhat of a regular to me now.Splendid stuff.

Me and my partner came in after a Sunday local walk. Was pretty much empty but that was fine as we used the back and played pool. Drinks seemed a normal fair price and some Radio2 sunday musicals playing which we enjoyed singing along being silly whilst eating crisps. It was nice to go to a place with a relaxed atmosphere. We only moved to Aylsham 6 months ago and will deff be back! Thanks :-)

Having walked up through the town of Aylsham from the Bure Valley Railway we were so pleased to find the Unicorn Pub, the new husband and wife landlord team made us feel at home and provided a good menu, prepared with care by the landlady. On our first visit we enjoyed a large 'ploughmans lunch' and, determined to return for a second meal, we sampled scampi and chips and cod and chips which were both fantastic. So, a really good quality pub, serving Woodfords famous Norfolk ales and a delight to visit.

The Georgian market town of Aylsham is neatly positioned between the Marriott's Way / Bure Valley long distance path to the south and the Weaver's Way national trail to the north and is an ideal place for an overnight stay or lunch en route on either long distance path. It is also very close to Blickling Hall the birthplace of Anne Boleyn. We had walked parts of both trails to do a circular route round the town and went into the market place for a pub lunch. We found The Unicorn, not particularly interesting from the outside, but inside a real, Norfolk pub with oak beams, a wide choice of beers and an extensive pub grub menu. The landlord could not have been more friendly and our lunch was promptly served. We will return, the ideal place for a pub meal whilst walking in Norfolk.

We visited today, family of 3 and our dog who was allowed in the bar or in the beer garden. The beer garden is lovely with plenty of well spaced tables and for younger children lots of play equipment. Very clean and well kept. Ordering can he done via app at the table or in the bar if you want to order with a human 😉 It was fairly busy but our food and drinks came in a reasonable time and the food was lovely. Chilli burger , scampi and children's sausage. All was presented well and tasted great and was reasonably priced especially considering how overheads and produce prices have rocketed. We also saw the carvery which looked delicious too so may have to go back for that. Overall a great experience, we will definitely go back and would definitely recommend.

Stopped here for a quick bite in the evening whilst passing through. Limited menu, I had pie and chips. It was hot and tasty so no complaints. I sat at a small corner table and when I went to put my bag on the floor my elbow got caught up in a whole nest of cobwebs that ran floor to ceiling. Moved to a different table and when I looked at the carpet it was glistening with slug slime! Yes you read that right!! Trails and trails of slug slime all over the carpet. I went to put my bag on the chair next to me. The chairs are covered with faded pink felt like fabric that would have been all the rage in the 70s but it was thick with long hairs all trapped in the fabric. The window sills were covered with dead flies. The bar man - am I allowed to say man in these politically correct times?? The bar person / server was however very friendly, welcoming and polite. Very depressing place, definitely needs a clean and makeover.

We had a spontaneous trip out and stopped at the Maltsters Pub , we were hungry so decided to order the Roast Beef. Oh my God was it good, the Beef melted in the mouth and it looked as good as it tasted. Staff were friendly and did their very best to look after us while we were there. We will be coming back to try more, my waistline may not thank me though. Unfortunately I didn’t take any photos of my food as I was hungry and tucked in!
