The Two Brewers in Dacorum

Room needs upgrading Comfortable bed (even if two singles joined to make one) and wallpaper generally fine, tho seams coming away from the wall in a couple of places. End of arms of both tub chairs very worn. Bathroom: plastic sink unit ok. Silicone around the bath redone when some white tiles used to replace patterned ones above the bath - would look better if the whole had been done. Three rows of silicone on side of bath down to the floor were not very smooth, had brown/black areas especially at the end near the shower. Some tile grouting was black. Door frame had little paint on the edge of bottom 18 inches or so, door had bits of missing paint near the bottom. A corner of the skirting was bare wood. Connection of towel rail had black rape round it, though seemed safe. Towels had a burnt smell presumably because of how they’re dried. Room was very cold, radiator didn’t work (staff were not apologetic, didn’t say they would try and fix it when told). There was an electric heater which did warm the room after some time

Lovely setting on the green, very comfortable seating in the restaurant, excellent quality of the food (we had a sea bass and a steak) and delightful staff (our waitress was Carolyn), whose welcome as we arrived and service throughout the meal was just perfect. Altogether a really lovely lunch experience.

My son and I stayed here overnight and ate in the restaurant. The room was large and comfortable although the bathroom could have done with a little TLC. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant served good quality traditional pub food cooked well and served with a smile - breakfast was good too.

Staff so accommodating and professional, especially the lady who waited on us, PM 12th August, with our three children. The food was lovely but the atmosphere and cleanliness made it special. We do not usually eat.

Went to another pub for dinner, that did not have everything on the menu that we wished to order, so my husband said to leave and try here. Now sometimes my Husband doesn't choose the nicest of places to eat, but I have to say he really pulled through on this one. Meal was cooked to perfection, one of the best I have had in a while. Service was brilliant, and the staff were also so attentive, and polite. Restaurant itself was nice and quiet, and relaxing. Will definately visit here again.

My wife and I stayed 2 nights B&B. Picturesque pub fronting a beautiful common in a quiet village. Room was very nice with an enormous bed and comfortable chairs and a good quality TV, but let down slightly by a very narrow bath and over the bath shower with a clingy curtain. Bath was a bit grubby. Beer in the bar was excellent. Light snacks were good. Breakfast was OK but let down by some details. Good value overall, and we enjoyed our stay.

Just had a TERRIBLE lunch at the two brewers. I ordered smothered chicken (hunters chicken) it looked like it had been under a grill and forgotten about it was dry, hard and not much sauce left around it. The chips were not much better so my meal consisted of salad and the onion rings. I did complain to the young waiter who apologised was polite and highlighted it to someone else but the someone else did not seem to care. On our way out the young waiter again apologised but someone who was higher up in authority should have at least come over to speak to me. A token cup of coffee may have been a bit of a gesture! I wont be back.

Went for Sunday lunch. We enjoy the location, friendly staff and most of the Sunday lunch. However, they make the worst roast potatoes and parsnips I have ever tasted. Firstly they are white, with a hard ( as in left under a lamp for an hour) skin. This applied to both parsnips and potatoes. THis is consistent on every time we have been - surely it can't be impossible to get right something that is an integral;part of the Sunday roast experience.

It was my Birthday today, so my family took me to the Two Brewers at Chipperfield for a celebratory dinner. The food was good, the service outstanding, prices were reasonable and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. I love the Two Brewers and would recommend it for a relaxed visit.

Took my wife to the Two Brewers for her birthday, we loved the open fires and the staff were so welcoming. Such a lovely atmosphere, we will definitely be coming here again.

sadly room was cold, window had a draft and when open was not able to stay open safely and if there was a fire in the room, could not jump safely. The hot water pump came on for an hour at 2am and was banging, so much so it woke us both up, the water in the after noon the previous day was lukewarm to wash / bathe with so not satisfactory. Unfortunately the grout in the bathroom could do with cleaning or just regrouping. The staff were friendly enough but not accommodating enough to allow another log on the fire at 10:30pm. This could have meant another few drinks bought if they were able to allow this. Chipperfield is a wonderful location, just feel this property is slightly dated and needs a make over and tweaking.

Disheartened to say the least that I even have to leave this review as this is our go to family restaurant that we have even booked for Christmas Day on occasions. We were running late to our reservation this evening due to a car accident, tried to call several times to inform the restaurant we were running late but no one answered. We turned up 17 minutes late, were told they only hold the table for “10” minutes although I have a confirmation email stating “15” minutes. I asked if there was any chance to book later and the receptionist said “you know the staff need a break too so we have to have a rest”.. not sure what this had to do with us reserving. She was cold and laughing under he responses. We were turned away and when we drove away I looked online.. can you believe there is in fact plenty of availability only two slots fully booked. I have been able to book a table in 30 minutes time and have a confirmation email. Unsure why the receptionist refused to help us and constantly lied. Answer your phones and employ honest staff

As a local to chipperfeild and the Two Brewers my family and I were left disgruntled by the rude and unhelpful staff. Firstly we were told the restaurant was full as we looked at at least half a dozen empty tables. Finally finding a seat in the bar area the staff were then unprepared to serve food to us for no apparent reason. Under staffed and managed by kids the place has become a joke.

Service very slow considering they were not that busy. Prawns would have bounced if I'd thrown them, beef cheek tough and swimming in sauce, lumpy potato and overcooked vegetables. Cheesecake soggy. Was going to book for Christmas day, so glad I didn't.

Nice B&B, pub was nice and really lively, food in the evening and for breakfast was excellent, service with a smile, the rooms are a little dated but it's an old pub, all in all good value.

My husband and I came for Sunday lunch with two friends following a remembrance parade in the village. The roast dinner was fantastic, and the pub has such a warm and cosy atmosphere. I was very impressed at the extensive range of alcohol-free options too. I stopped drinking last year, and it's normally very difficult to find alcohol-free drinks in pubs (not all teetollers want to drink Diet Coke!). But this place has a really good range of AF wines, lagers and mocktails. The AF red wine I had was a perfect accompaniment to my roast dinner and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The sticky toffee cheesecake for dessert finished the meal off nicely.

Last time We had Sunday Lunch, we had a good experience so we decided that it would be a safe bet to go back. This time it was a disaster from start to finish. First of all our table hadn’t been cleaned properly from the previous diners, we placed our orders and then waited and waited for 40 minutes before our food eventually arrived. The roast beef was like old leather that my wife and I couldn’t eat it, (brought it home for my dogs), the roast potatoes were so dried out, that they were like eating powder, the broccoli was only shown the hot water and wasn’t cooked, the side of pigs in blankets never turned up and the side of cauliflower cheese had no cheese, left very disappointed and had to pick up a takeout on the way home 🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁

It was my 25th birthday and I really didn't want to celebrate. I suffer with a lot of anxiety and leaving the house is really hard for me. I eventually decided that I wanted to spend some time with my family and I would have to try my best to get through the night. I couldn't have done it without the care and warmth of Mike! He was amazing with my family, and catered to my complicated dietry requirements so well. I have feeling 'difficult' when I go to a restaurant but he assured me that it was no issue. He recommended some great options on the menu and told me exactly how he could cater to me! When my little cake came out he had even taken the time to personalize it for me! I truly felt cared for and special. Thank you Mike, from me and my family ❤️

A lovely setting, very picturesque English village feel. The best thing is the service. If you look hard enough you can find fault in anything. As someone who travels a lot for work and stays in a lot of hotels, I look for a few simple things: Parking, clean and comfortable rooms, good food and friendly staff. This place ticks all of the boxes. But the stand out for me is the people. The team at The Two Brewers are wonderful, they make you feel welcome and go out of their way to help (forgotten charger which they assisted with). The breakfast is really great and served by the loveliest lady (Coral I think her name is). Definitely on my list to stay when in the area.

My friends and I visited this tucked away, yet top notch, pub for a group catch up dinner and drinks. First impressions are a very quiet and cosy environment perfect for a casual night out. Bar staff polite, well stocked selection and quick service. Menu is great, no one complained there wasn't anything that toom their fancy! I had the wild boar sausage, first time trying and it definitely didn't disappoint. Liquid dessert went down well after too! Will be back! Handy that we can stay here too if we have a few too many 'courses' ( if the mrs's are reading.)

Had an absolutely gorgeous meal at The Two Brewers with all of my friends for a birthday meal. The staff were friendly and attentive, we did have to wait a little while but I think that's normal when the pub was as busy as it was so I'm not complaining there! Now, the food... I had the steak and it was really yummy, aswell as being cooked and presented well, top marks to the chef!

Taken here for a birthday lunch 14 October. Great looking well-priced menu not matched by what was served. Overall impression was that most food was prepared elsewhere and heated up at this pub. Had a steak, obviously cooked here, but overcooked to Medium instead of the Medium-Rare ordered, and it was luke warm. Greeted at reception by a young lady who seemed like it was her first day in the role - no empathy.... Had to grab a passing waiter to order drinks. He seemed to one of two waiters only for a nearly full restaurant. After starter plates were collected waited forty minutes for the main courses to be brought over a five minute period for the five of us. (Hence the luke warm steak?) Nice and generous steak pie and cask ales but this was not enough to visit this remote pub again.

So Kate, Was our server today and she was very efficient., polite. And respectful.informed us of what was not on the menu and asked if we wsnted anything else. The food was amazing seafood grill and signature burger..my other half thought tasted wonderful.. have been here before and would definitely come back again.. you are also able to use your blue lite card so give us something back as well. Staff morale seemed variable but mostly tired. I hate leaning on beer sticky tables - was going to ask for a cloth but too late and perhaps I shouldn’t have to if sitting to eat? Food was flat: veggies good (except bullet peas!); chips and chicken & ham pie were tasteless - review food/supplier? I wanted to love my local pub and the location is indeed lovely - but left feeling rather deflated. Maybe an off night for them - but eating out is a rare treat and this, sadly, wasn’t.

I was looking forward to a nice lunch in the lovely surroundings of this pub. I was disappointed by slow service, a long wait for our lunch, the kitchen seemed unable to deal with the numbers, and a poor quality lunch (chicken and ham pie sans chicken and ham). The staff seemed demoralised and I felt sorry for them. Not good and all the signs of a pub in decline.

Visited many times and never had a problem, food was always good value for money with a good ambience. However, during my most recent visit, me and another guest both ordered a steak which was a lot smaller than it used to be and was an awful cut of meat. Very fatty and not cooked to our preference. Some of the staff were less friendly and seemed unbothered. All the guests were disappointed as the Two Brewers didn’t meet its usual standard.
