We are there this evening. Normally food has been good and we enjoy eat the bird. However, this evening the food was pretty disgusting. The wings were in a weird thick batter, no sauce on the wings as they were pretty over cooked. We had two sets of wings and a burger. Again the burger was not good either. Really disappointed, in future we may stop for a drink but won't be wasting money on food which was £30.

Lovely pub, very friendly staff and a great place to be able to have a conversation without the overpowering soundtrack of music. Several hand pump ales available, but sadly they all have the appearance and taste like they have been pulled straight out of the river Ex. Stick with the branded beers and you will not be disappointed.

I stayed here for the night as a guest in their acommodation, the cosy room. Very reasonable price for a central spot. The room was clean, well presented and had everything I needed. If you're not keen on noise I would not recommend it, the rooms are above the pub and beer garden which is open until 23:00, so if you're thinking to get little kids to sleep at 19:00 say then forget it. For me it was ideal though, key access and exit so no last access time and check out was simply chucking the key in the box. The hall is also very narrow and there are a few flights of stairs so maybe not one for folks with mobility issues or HUGE bags. The room had everything you could need, fan, heater, cute lighting, a toy dog, tea, coffee and even perfectly folded and stamped toilet roll. I'd happily stay here again if I'm in the area. I also tried a few pints downstairs and it's a nice brewery.

Located in the heart of the city, close to the Cathedral, this is a great place to stay if you’re in Exeter for a city break. The historic building has been beautiful adapted for guests and the finishing touches from the staff really make it special. Not suitable if you have problems with mobility, as being a 700+ year old town house, access to the rooms is tricky, with some steep, narrow, winding stairs for rooms at the top. That aside, I couldn’t fault it, the room was perfect and the staff very friendly and helpful.

The Turk’s at 202 High St, Exeter is on the itinerary for every literary traveller. In a nook just behind a stairwell in the lower bar, Charles Dickens found inspiration for one of his characters in The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club (1836). The management have hung posters of Joe above Dickens’ seat to help you find the exact spot where Charles did his journaling.

This is a nice, cozy pub with interesting interior. Food was ok. The reason for the low score is their refusal to accept cash. Telling people they have to use a card payment denies them choice. I used to like this pub when I walked past, because it's such an interesting and pretty building. They haven't invested much on the interior though, it's got less character. I've only been 4 times so far. First 3 times were okay, but nothing worth mentioning. Last time I was there though, I had a couple of bad experiences. It was a Thursday night, it was quite busy and the place stank. I ordered a large glass of wine and it cost 10.20 pounds. More than 10 pounds for a glass of wine in a pub is insane. Also, as it was busy, they run out of glasses so I had my very expensive wine in a water glass. The bar staff didn't even bother apologizing about it. Later on that night, a friend was clumsy and dropped a pint of beer in the table and the floor. The waitor cleaned up the table with just paper and he did the same on the floor. He was lying on the floor, all force, drying the floor with blue roll. That's not professional, it's not hygiene having someone serve you after lying on the floor cleaning up the mess with their hands. Also, he seemed totally fine doing it, although it looked humiliating. My suggestions are: keep the place clean, buy a mop, wipe the tables with a cloth and disinfectant. To be honest, this applies for most of the pubs. But when you give 10.20 for a glass of wine, you expect more. Inflation is not and excuse to me. It's just bad hospitality and only profit chase.
