Quite a luxurious stay. gorgeous soaps and lotions in the beautifully decorated bathroom, water in the room, a selection of premium teas, and a Nespresso machine. The bed was super comfortable with lots of pillows! And the location was bang in the middle of Exeter - right by the Cathedral. I highly recommend for value to price point here!

Love the Turks Head, a pub with good character in the centre of Exeter. Regularly pop in when visiting. Pub is laid out over a couple of floors, lots of character and great to find a tucked away table. We stayed one night as a treat and weren’t disappointed. Location is great, right on the high street, walking distance to some great restaurants and bars if you want to head out for food, but the menu is also really nice 😊. Will definitely go back again to stay and will always pop in when visiting Exeter!

Since the reopening three years ago this has become by far Exeter's best hostelry. The refurbishment was considerate and tasteful. The range of drinks and food is excellent. A good indicator of good management is the stability of staff. Most have been at Turks since the relaunch and so know the business requirements and, as importantly, the customers. One cannot fail to be impressed by the decor, the entertainment and the friendly professional team who go out of their way to make each visit as good as possible. Dr Paul Gray

Great service, great drinks (good selection and flavour), great food (The Sunday roast is banging) and great ambience and decor. Smart, timely wimey mixed with modern industrial style makes for a welcoming vibe that appeals to all age groups. Love all the witty beer names and artwork, and that you can see much if it being brewed in house, within eyesight of the bar! It's a big enough location that if it's a bit noisy or busy in one section, there's usually a quieter spot free elsewhere in the building. Except on a weekend evening of course when it's full of friends meeting up and merriment! The staff are lovely too. I highly recommend.

Stayed for 2 nights (Fri & Sat) at The Turks Head but sadly never again. The room had some quirkiness about it which was great. The bed was fairly comfortable & the shower was good. There was a coffee machine & pods which was a nice touch although our friends machine didn't work for the entire stay. However nothing was refilled while we were out, so we didnt have anything for the next day. The main issue was the noise from people outside until approx 5am both mornings. I wondered why there were earplugs by the bed when we arrived & we soon found out. I understand its an old building but the secondary double glazing did very little to help & it had only been put on 1 window. If you're looking for a restful stay, avoid this at all costs.

Firstly we use the Bar facilities and not the Hotel aspect. We haven't been in here for a good 30 years. Now I am back jn the Southwest it seemed a good idea to pop into the Turks Head for a pint while in Exeter. Great service, and a high standard from the staff (Jake) was our server. I had a great pint of Golder Arrow. We also had a light lunch, a BLT and Ham sandwich. Very good, good price and swiftly served. Would we go back, yes. 👊💃🕺

We only spent one night at the Turk's Head but we loved our stay! The staff were welcoming and our room had been upgraded, which we were really happy with. It was perfect for us as we get to bed late, however there is noise (as in we could make out entire conversations, a group of lads were definitely celebrating a birthday) from the pub until closing time (11pm) so if you get to bed early & are noise-sensitive it may not be for you. Otherwise it was surprisingly quiet overnight. Earplugs and eye masks were very thoughtfully provided, and the stocked shampoo, soap and hand creams from Bramley smell wonderful. Teas and coffee (alongside a large coffee machine) were provided, as well as dairy milk (we're vegan but it looked like nice milk). Great location! No step-free access.

The place was full. Staff on the door were a bit rude. Told us they were full, said we were only coming for drinks. Said totally full, okay no problem. As we walk away the door staff says to his colleague "What don't people understand about when we say we're full, we're full" No need for that when we only asked if there was room for us to have a drink. As we wouldn't need a table. Was visiting here on recommendation too, so a pretty disappointing experience and probably would not return or recommend to others.

Loved the cinnamon that really came threw in the brew. Think next time I'll try a tasting board as a few others caught my eye... Hi there, We came to The Turks Head Exeter on Friday whilst visiting for the Christmas Markets. We had food and drinks and were looked after by your lovely member of staff Annie. We wanted to contact you to say what an absolutely fantastic person she was. She engaged in conversation and told us all about the pubs history, its brewery and its sister pub. She let us know you had rooms to let and explained how lovely they were. She said she had worked for you since April and loved the role. She was so bubbly and knowledgeable about the pubs history etc and even waved us off when we left as if we were old friends. This is a young lady whose ability to interact with your customers and her knowledge/ information about your pub should be utilised. We will definitely return again when in the area due to this lovely member of staff. Please pass our praise and thanks to her. Mandy and Richard

We are there this evening. Normally food has been good and we enjoy eat the bird. However, this evening the food was pretty disgusting. The wings were in a weird thick batter, no sauce on the wings as they were pretty over cooked. We had two sets of wings and a burger. Again the burger was not good either. Really disappointed, in future we may stop for a drink but won't be wasting money on food which was £30.

I stayed here for the night as a guest in their acommodation, the cosy room. Very reasonable price for a central spot. The room was clean, well presented and had everything I needed. If you're not keen on noise I would not recommend it, the rooms are above the pub and beer garden which is open until 23:00, so if you're thinking to get little kids to sleep at 19:00 say then forget it. For me it was ideal though, key access and exit so no last access time and check out was simply chucking the key in the box. The hall is also very narrow and there are a few flights of stairs so maybe not one for folks with mobility issues or HUGE bags. The room had everything you could need, fan, heater, cute lighting, a toy dog, tea, coffee and even perfectly folded and stamped toilet roll. I'd happily stay here again if I'm in the area. I also tried a few pints downstairs and it's a nice brewery.

Located in the heart of the city, close to the Cathedral, this is a great place to stay if you’re in Exeter for a city break. The historic building has been beautiful adapted for guests and the finishing touches from the staff really make it special. Not suitable if you have problems with mobility, as being a 700+ year old town house, access to the rooms is tricky, with some steep, narrow, winding stairs for rooms at the top. That aside, I couldn’t fault it, the room was perfect and the staff very friendly and helpful.

The Turk’s at 202 High St, Exeter is on the itinerary for every literary traveller. In a nook just behind a stairwell in the lower bar, Charles Dickens found inspiration for one of his characters in The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club (1836). The management have hung posters of Joe above Dickens’ seat to help you find the exact spot where Charles did his journaling.
