Stayed here for 2 nights to visit the Christmas markets. Perfect central location. Room 5 was lovely and cosy with everything you need in there, fab coffee machine & posh tea bags, iron & board, lovely shower, comfy bed etc. The pub seemed to be always busy with a lovely atmosphere and the staff were really helpful. Hope to do it all again next year!

Loved this pub, really quirky in a good way. It looks quite small from the outside but is like a tardis inside, including a micro brewery. All of the staff we dealt with were very friendly and helpful and seemed genuinely happy to see and serve customers (not always the case in some establishments). We had a few drinks and lunch which was good and reasonably priced. Special mention for the young barman who went out of his was to help someone who needed to use the disabled toilet. Will definitely visit again if we return to Exeter.

Went for Sunday lunch which was very nice but a bit lacking in vegetables . Very long wait ( in excess of 45 mins) Was extremely noisy as a big table with lots of children . Is it really necessary for the pub to be child friendly There are loads of places for children to eat in Exeter . Found it very off putting in these surroundings such a shame nice pub apart from kids!

What a beautiful building! The pub itself is comfy and quirky. The bar staff were quick and helpful. The beer was delish 😋. There is even a cute roof terrace. Fabulous central location too, nice and close to the cathedral.

This is a perfect pub. The food is outstanding (filthy) the kinda burgers that make you cry with joy safe in the knowledge it’s knocking days of your life. The staff are efficient friendly and the correct level of dry…well played. And they brew there own beer…I’m in love. I want to marry this pub. I was in Exeter for a work project. This makes it ok. Thank you.

Location is good. The room no6 could do with a paint and and some female touches . The stairs are not good for 50 plus people for no6 room. It’s cheap for location. Hostel like room. Beds are comfy, but on the small side. Lots of potential if a little TLC was added to the rooms .

Arrived later in the evening on a busy Friday night. Was very busy as an England football game was on. We had a valid and generous tab of £25 after running up in the pub quiz a few weeks before. This paid for the first 6 of our drinks which was ideal. Our server was quick on the case and had our drinks poured! I went for a Jubel peach beer, served in a can, rather than draught. I prefered the can instead - I found it was more peachy. Collectively we ordered some shots, beers and wine. The staff were excellent and efficient. A very fun night. Fully recommend this pub. The Turks Head previously didn’t accept American Express credit cards - so it was a welcome surprise returning to find they now did.

I stayed here for one night in March '24, for work. Checked in late and left early so actually spent little time in the room. It is very reasonably priced and the rooms are lovely -- nicely decorated, clean, with plenty of complimentary tea/coffee (Nespresso machine) and water. Handwritten arrival note a nice touch. Great. Lovely bathroom (but shower so powerful it basically removes an entire layer of your epidermis .... ). You access rooms via side door on High St, for which you're given a key, so you can come and go as you please without worrying about pub opening times etc. etc. All good for people just bedding down for the night. The real trouble is that it is so noisy here. To their credit, they are very transparent about this and make it very (!) clear when you're booking, and they also provide earplugs (but they do little to drown out the noise). I booked knowing it would be noisy - for price, location etc. then fair enough. I just got a bit annoyed because when I booked it said the courtyard, which I think causes the noise (? but could be wrong), closes at 11, so I assumed things would be quiet after that; but noise went on until well past midnight. Oddly the noise carried on even after the pub closed (which is supposed to be 12). Not sure if this was noise from elsewhere? Seems to me that an easy, practical thing they could do to make staying in the rooms better is to turn music down / reduce bass from 11pm. With earplugs you can't hear people so much, it's just the bass of the music ......... Turning down a bit would make everyone happy?

Eat the bird at the turks head...never again I met a friend for lunch on a Saturday, choosing the turks head because I had heard eat the bird had taken over the kitchen...desperate for a coffee we were told that the machine had been turned off so that was not available. We found a table, it wasn't clean, but I figured someone might sort it out. Food was ordered and paid for, we weren't advised of any anticipated delays to service. After about 45 mins, we asked where our food was...After several "it will be 5 minutes" reassurances and past an hour since ordering our food arrived. It was cold, but we were so hungry by that point there wasn't much choice but to eat it. I spoke to the manager who was helpful and polite and asked for consideration for a discount to reflect the poor experience. This was given. I was asked to provide my name, telephone number and email address so someone from Eat the Bird could "reach out to me"...I'm still waiting.

Popped in with friends when visiting Exeter. Stayed for a variety of ales all of which were very well kept. This is a large, busy pub but it has plenty of smaller rooms and spaces to go for a more private chat with companions. Worth a visit if you're in the area.

Definitely not a pub to stay in. The mildly-worded warning about noise did nothing to prepare us for the level of noise in room 3. Nor did the earplugs provided go anywhere near dulling the noise. The worst night I have spent at any hotel.

It was a very hot day when we explored Exeter with our dog Lily. It was not the sort of day that you could leave a dog in the car so we went about our exploring of Exeter very mindful of keeping Lily in the shade. We found the Turks Head by chance. We were glad of the cool atmosphere. There was a roof terrace if you were brave enough to face the heat. People arrived with suit cases and it dawned on us that people could stay here. Reviews confirmed this. However, when we arrived the kitchen was closed. That did not matter because we only needed drinks but if we were staying that would be a big problem. I like the fact that this pub is dog friendly I do not like the fact they only take cards and not cash. I might come back because it has a good atmosphere.

Since its reopening I have visited the turks on a few occasions but this is my 1st review. The people who have completed the revamp should be applauded, they have really done a great job at not only the decoration but also recreating a great atmosphere which was there before. Lots of room upstairs has been added with extra bars and a great little suntrap of a courtyard. Although prices are what you would expect for a city centre pub there are a good selection of drinks available and they also have thier own micro brewery on site for those who like that sort of thing The staff obviously take pride in where they work and offer a clean and friendly environment for you to relax with a pint

This pub was recommended by the pub staff at the Farmer's Union which is near where we were staying. The Turk's Head was really spacious, lots of room and they run their own micro brewery on site. They show sports in the side seating areas. and you can purchase food here as well. Great selection of beers and spirits for all drinks and prices are reasonably marked as well. Lots of opportunity to sit with friends, catch up with relatives and welcomes in lots of families who love to meet up and catch up. Great little pub and located right on the High Street, so it's great location after you've visited a few shops and some great Exeter landmarks too!

The hospitality was top notch, the staff were so friendly and welcoming, like walking into a family home. Grace and Freddie were so helpful, as was Dez (?), they genuinely made it their missions to make sure we were happy, comfortable and satisfied.. it has been the most comfortable and comforting, and fun night away from home. Thank you to all the staff, we have stayed in many places but honestly this has been an utter joy. Thank you to everyone who has made it happen. Can't wait to stay again!!
