The restaurant is a new business in an old pub ( which was a Chinese resto for a while) and the whole experience isn't 'slick' like many competitors, but the food is great and quite different from other similar places in the city. The slightly amateur feel of the place is actually quite relaxing. It is great tasting and portions are generous. It's great value. We live close and have been there several times, never disappointed. Especially recommend the base camp curry...delicious.

Staying overnight for work, and looking for somewhere near the station to eat so stumbled into the Gurka Salute. I had a really good meal full of flavour and a good value portion, no complaints. The service was also very friendly. Was a really good meal, would return.

Lovely food from a newly opened restaurant. they havent got the service slick yet, but the food is lovely and they have a very varied menu. We've been several times. Give it a go!

The food here has been great when we have been a a couple of times before however this time the whole place just seemed really dirty. There was food on the floor and the table cloths. There was a dirty path on the carpet where people had been walking through. The waiter couldn't get our very simple drinks order right. The decor is very sad and needs a complete overhaul. They say they offer a buffet but we have never seen it. There was a god set menu but you can't actually have everything that's offered as they've printed it wrong. It's just chaotic and sadly we won't be returning. There were 5 of us in there in total on a Friday night which says a lot, then we decided to leave before we ordered food, and the other person also decided to cancel their order and leave because they were very unhappy with the dirtiness of the place. Such a shame.

Located in an old pub, the decor is somewhat dated. Menu is a curious combo of traditional gurka buffet, but cut down slightly as they also offer a full 'Asian' menu to order. Curries are flavoursome and not stupidly hot. Nice selection of flavours. Possibly a trifle undermanned? Not a bad place for a lads night out, but I fear the decor and atmosphere may be unsuitable for marriage proposals and romantic dalliances.

Beyond phenomenally bad. Meal turned up missing all of our rice. When I called, there was zero apology, zero acceptance of any wrong doing and they put the phone down on me and would not pick up again

Delicious but disappointing. We ordered late as a colleague is retiring, and we appreciated the bits added to the order. Unfortunately that colleagues veggie dish had exploded in transit and 50% of it

It’s quite a while since we had a takeaway from here, but OMG it was so good. We had chicken tikka buna balti, peshwari chicken, chana bhaji, pilau rice, garlic nan and popadoms. All delivered on time

Food was piping hot when it was delivered, and flavours on point. Naan was very soft and plenty of vegetarian options available. As an Indian student, definitely coming back!
