The Tudor Hotel in North Lanarkshire

This was a regular go to place for meeting friends for lunch so you could enjoy a catch up and great food. This is the first time I’ve been since the new owners took over and I won’t be back. It’s a one hour round trip so getting rushed from your table to make way for the next customers is off putting. I was informed we would have to vacate the table allowing only one hour and fifteen minutes but I thought this was because I didn’t book in advance but it’s the same if booking online, well sorry it shows you get one hour and ten minutes the other five minutes must be for clearing up and setting up for the next sitting. Talk about FAST FOOD it certainly was!!!! I’ve never had to eat so quickly in my life. We also wanted to order coffee and dessert and waited twenty minutes to be asked and guess what we were now at the end of our allocated time. We felt pressured to leave the table as we didn’t want to get the waitress into trouble so asked to take these out to their lobby area which unfortunately had loud music playing meaning you had to shout so you could hear one another and also busy with other customers waiting for their tables. Everything said the food was good but we still wouldn’t be tempted to return.

I visited the Tudor today with friends who had come out from Glasgow, for lunch. We were greeted by a member of staff who asked us if we had booked. We hadn't and he informed us that the three of us could only sit at a table for 1 hours 15 mins. We duly took our seats and very quickly the restaurant area was filling up with customers and the waiters/waitresses were working tirelessly to keep up with demand. The food was absolutely delicious but, due to the number of people being attended to, our order for coffee or dessert was overlooked. Eventually (20 mins later) we were asked if we had finished. At this point we asked for coffee and dessert. The poor waitress felt extremely awkward as she was eager for us to leave our table to allow the next onset of customers. As a result, and not wanting to create a problem, we had to sit in the lounge/lobby with very loud music, in a crowded area full of customers waiting for tables and eat/drink our dessert/coffee. It left a very bad impression on my guests and as a result said that they wouldn't return. This ultimately makes me very sad as, not only have I been a lifelong customer of The Tudor but, I am also getting married and holding our reception there this year. After leaving the hotel, I checked the booking process for lunch and it does state that you only have 1hour 15 mins allocation so, whether you had a reservation or not, you better be prepared for 'fast food'. A great shame and obviously a case of maximising on lunch before the Al A Carte menu kicks in at 2pm.

First time for a meal after new ownership. Very good Indian food cooked to perfection. Service was good too. Will definitely be back.

Me and my family love The Tudor we got married here three years ago so it is a special place for us, now that it's under new management we are loving the new menu (food is really tasty) we come for dinner atleast once a fortnight, The staff are all really helpful and friendly they couldn't do anymore for you the service is always great, overall we can't fault anything.

Just had a lovely meal here tonight and the service was fantastic! Hazel in particular was amazing. All staff were really friendly and attentive. Food was brilliant too 🤩

We visited this evening for the first time since the new owners have taken over… Wow, the meal was outstanding!! Everything was delicious. The service was amazing. We will definitely be back. Thank you to all the staff and especially our server, Hazel. Her customer service was excellent. We can’t wait to visit again! :)

I recently attended a close relatives funeral catered by Tudor hotel. I was appalled at the service and my relative was charged over £1100 to cater for 65 guests. The table we were sat at was set for 8 persons. There was a plate of sandwiches on the table with 12 quarter sandwich portions. This resulted in each person having approx 1/4 of sandwich each. I asked the waitress who was serving the table if we could have more sandwiches. The reply was as follows " no, there are no more sandwiches as they have been served around the room". My mum who is 90 years old is a plain eater and does not like mayo, however, all sandwiches contained mayo. A request for plain sandwiches was made, possibly ham. Again the waitress informed that there was no ham. She was asked if a plain sandwich of any kind could be provided, but again we were informed no other sandwiches were available as they were on other tables. I did inform the lady at reception of my concerns. This lady was lovely and informed that there should be approximately 3-4 quarters of sandwiches per person and she would speak to the staff regarding these concerns. After service was finished, the waitress then proceeded to bring out 4 quarters of cheese sandwiches for my mum. Regarding the cakes. Again there was 8 people at the table and there was a plate with 5 cakes. I then asked for another 3 cakes to ensure everyone had a cake with their tea / coffee. Again I was advised these were scattered around the room and no more was available. 5 mins later, the waitress arrived at the table holding a plate with 3 cakes and made a comment which was very inappropriate. She stated " I have these 3 cakes which I have stolen from the next funeral. This is not acceptable. The family table had lots of food left over, however, I believe this was to give the family the impression that all of the tables were catered in the same manner. Upon speaking with relatives at other tables, they advised they encountered the same experience. I would like to state that the food provided was of good quality, however due to this experience, I would not recommend the tudor to facilitate any funeral functions in the future. I am flabbergasted, that attending mourners were expected to lift foods from another table due to lack of food supplied. Surely if a table is set for 8 people, there should be enough food at 1 table to accommodate without having to go around a room. I also emailed my complaint / concerns direct to Tudor hotel, however I they did not even have the courtesy to respond. I was a frequent customer of the Tudor, however I now wouldn’t recommend the place for funerals

Check your receipts very very carefully. They will make "mistakes" on receipts, in this case few of them for nearly 100 quid and if you find them they'll pretend it's a mistake and after lots of hassle it'll be sorted. It isn't in my understanding nothing accidental in it. And absolutely to not tip them. None of this will go to service staff. This is not the Tudor hotel which used to be here. It's taken over by someone liking money way too much. Never ever again. And menu just like other comments - very poor choice of drinks.

2 nd time in Tudor ,food lovely ,service shocking asked for bottled water got tap water and a bootle of coke !!! After having to go to bar to change it ( because staff where elsewhere ). then after 15 mins had to go back up for the bottle of water that was supposed to be coming to table . Won’t even go into time we waited for food but we were in there for over2 hrs . But curry was excellent .

Used to be regulars here. Came back today after it's been taken over. Outside is like sheet ice and nobody has bothered to grit it. Been snowing and it's still warmer outside. They have about half the choice of spirits they used too. Asked for a cocktail list for the wife and they replied. We only do an expresso martini. That's it. Lager was flat. Can't believe how down hill this place went in such a short time. Won't be back.

New restaurant is amazing highly recommend it. Service, food, staff all great will be back.

Had a lovely lunch today from the Indian menu. Atmosphere was very ambient and relaxed. Staff were pleasant and attentive. Would highly recommend.

Went out for lunch with my inlaws. Great choice in menu. 2 courses for just under £13. Quick service, good sized portions and the food was excellent. Everyone at our table was very happy. Thanks Sunny 🌞

Went here last week for a family meal, the food was very good however the service was far from great, waited ages for drinks to come, 1 of our mains never came out as they forgot about it and I ordered 1 whisky from the menu and said they didnt have it, asked for another and never had that either! Also ordered a desert only to be told they ran out. Whats the point in things on the menu? Also portion sizes for the price is a little to be desired. Didnt seem over sorry about it either which was a shame. Wont be back to be honest

First time trying the tudor since it has been under new ownership and I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. Booked a table for 2 easily online , even though it was last minute. Full hotel and restaurant seems to have had a nice makeover. Read some other reviews with comments about staff being treated poorly etc. , something I never witnessed as staff couldn't have been any more helpful. Food was really nice and didn't have to wait around too long on it arriving at the table. Will definitely be making it more regular place as before going to the tudor was a rare thing but I really enjoyed my experience of the new place tonight.

Been to the Tudor now on three separate occasions since takeover and it's been a great experience on each occasion. New management could not make you more welcome and have accommodated us even when we hadn't booked in advance. Staff very helpful and pleasant, can't do enough for you. Food amazing and we will continue to return, thank you!

Came here for years and never a lot of complaints but when I heard there was a takeover I was excited to see the restaurant get a new spiral of life but I was ashamed to see how the staff were treated when I was in it was such a shame I hope there is change soon

I honestly use to love this place up until recently when there was an owners change. The staff now seem mistreated and rightly miserable even though have been at the Tudor for years. Honestly a shame. Do better.

We are a group of 6 ladies who attend the Tudor every Friday for lunch and are most impressed with the new owners the Boss Shurech is mist pleasant and attentive nothing is too much bother for him.The food is excellent with Indian and European and the portion size is big and very reasonably priced.

Used to attend frequently over the years, and always was a pleasure. I’d heard that new owners were taking over this fine establishment, so without question I wanted to see if they could maintain or improve upon the standard set previously. I was shocked, I seen young staff being mistreated for simple mistakes which really left a sour taste in my mouth. Serving customers is hard enough as it is without added pressure from management. Unless things change I don’t think I’ll return for the time being, shame on you. Warm regards Mystery shopper

Had a great meal tonight from the pre-theatre menu. Staff were very welcoming & serving staff very attentive throughout. Pre-theatre menu was great value for money and offered very generous portion sizes. Our meals were freshly prepared and the quality of the food was evident. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will certainly be back!

Husband and I went for dinner as we had heard the new owner was also the owner of Mango, one of our favourite restaurants. The whole night was fantastic! The food was amazing and the staff were lovely and very attentive. Defo a lot better than the last few time we have been to the tudor before the new owner.. Highly recommend...

Attending a funeral buffet after cremation services a sit down to soup and roll followed by steak pie and veg . vegetarian options were also available drinks followed by tea and coffee nice quiet dining room for friends and family a lovely service .

I have always been a big fan of the Tudor and the old Elizabethan bar next door. From the Age of 18 I was frequently in both and the atmosphere remains great! Both of my parents loved the place and both had their funeral gatherings there as they were well known. I was in the UK recently and paid a visit to find it was still the same warm welcome and same high level of personal service and I must admit it brought a tear to my eye when I recall all of the Christmas days there from years gone by. Congratulations to the staff and managers and owner as it's an iconic location in my life. The food was fantastic yet again and looking out of the windows I could see the snow falling all those years ago. Thanks for a lifetime of wonderful memories.

I went there today for lunch in the Bistro. I didnt have to wait for a table. The choice of food was really good. The service was excellent. All the staff were very polite. My steak pie was excellent and my daughter's burger was nice and juicy and big enough portions. We will definately be back. That you for a lovely lunch.

Restaurant is terrible menu very limited, lunch menu had not starters i liked, wouldn't allow us to order starter from main menu and curry from lunch menu as the curry wasn't on main menu, wasn't looking to pay the fixed price lunch was willing to pay the price for each item but they wouldn't allow it, food was bang average when we eventually got it and even then the order was still wrong, never rated this place but after not going for a few years thought I'd give it another go, never again £45 down the drain

Been here several times of late even though we don’t stay in the area, went on Sunday 21st April and this time was the last. Waited 20 minutes to be served our starters, after 40 minutes wait after our starter plates removed we still hadn’t been served our main meals, no one came near us, asked if we were ok or needed anything my husband ended up having to go find someone and our order hadn’t been put through properly because the woman serving us shift finished during our time there, not much of an apology just wanted the money off us for our starters and drink that we had

The hotel owner was coming onto a lady in a funeral party. Apparently this isn't his first offence. What appalling behaviour especially given the association of the Tudor in Airdrie with funerals.

Popped in here today for lunch with my Mum, considering I've lived in Airdrie 43 years I've only been a handful of times... Which is actually a shame as the food and service was excellent! Pleasant staff, fast service, tasty food and decent prices, whats not to like :)

A regular of 20+ years for weekly lunch but the quality of food has gone down dramatically. I have given the benefit of doubt the last 3 times but the food is not good at all. Unfortunately don't think I'll be back. Which saddens me really.

Great place for all occasions, weddings, social gatherings etc. staff very friendly and efficient. Would thoroughly recommend a visit it’s very clean and comfortable. A good central base to have when visiting Lanarkshire and surrounding areas, without City prices

Haven't been for a while as the vegetarian/vegan options were poor, however yesterday I was delighted with the options. I had the veggie no chicken burger and chips. Lovely made chips were delicious. The seats were comfortable, and it was nice and cosy.

Popped in for a bite to eat and noted it has great parking available, it’s clean, tidy and has lots of staff on so you never have to wait for service. Food was good but I would say the portions for the price were a little small.

Had my wedding in the Tudor nearly 40 years ago. Have been in there lots of times having lunch or dinner and alway would recommend it to all my friends and family. But was in there a couple of weeks ago and was very disappointed with the food I had and the rest of my family that was with us said the same. Food was disappointing. So I am very sorry I won't be back again. Was very disappointed with the food.

Nice hotel with large restaurant and friendly staff....only thing is that I called and booked and asked for a nice table and got out right beside the kitchen swinging doors....disappointed in this...... overall food was fine and service and friendliness The bar area was colourful and inviting.

Best hotel I've been too, rooms are great ,the beds really comfy, plenty of tea and coffee. Staff were exceptional and polite. The menu list is the largest and the amount of dishes that they have on the menu is for everyone .the food is very very good and plenty of it. Thankyou to all the staff there, for looking after me and my daughter, as we were there for a funeral. Thankyou again tudor hotel.

Very friendly staff who were very accommodating to my dad who was in a wheelchair. They also have a smaller meal version which was ample for our appetites.

So funny how the hotel has my dog on their website,but don't allow dogs in it ! Lol 😆

A comfortable nights stay. Pleasant staff. Enjoyable evening meal in the Bistro and a good Scottish breakfast. Good value and recommended if you need to stay in North Lanarkshire or need easy access to Glasgow.
