The True Food Kitchen in Isle of Wight

Very cool little restaurant with lovely food and good service. Nice cocktails on the menu too. We had a 6 course taster menu.

Highly recommend the roast with a twist. Phenomenal from start to finish. Can’t wait to visit again

Superb food, here I had the best dinning experience of my stay on Isle of Wight in early October. From start to finish, boy they didn’t disappoint! Also I had the pleasure of speaking to a lovely couple who were sitting in the table next to me and are regular guests at the restaurant, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I recently visited here and it was an absolute delight from start to finish. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, with a perfect balance of cozy and upscale. The staff were incredibly attentive, knowledgeable, and made us feel like we were the only ones there. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes. Every ingredient tasted fresh, and the chef’s attention to detail was evident in every bite. I can’t wait to return and explore more of their menu! Highly recommended!

A hidden gem. Absolutely first class in every way.

Another outstanding experience! Had booked our table a good few weeks ahead of visiting our favourite island….as we always want to have secured a table here! We were looked after by Grace who was so helpful and friendly….our food as always was outstanding….the flavours here are just wonderful and the care taken with each dish is amazing! I love how I can watch the chefs create such wonderful dishes….and it’s lovely to see the care taken. Thank you to all the team at True Food…..we loved it….again!!!!!

Superb meal. we had the five course tasting menu for a pescatarian and a meat eater and couldn’t fault any of the courses.The attention to detail was incredible and the staff in attendance top class.The best meal weve ever had.Thank you True Food for this outstanding experience.

We went there for dinner last night and had the very best food. The team are knowledgeable and lovely, the chef is easy to see because it's open and he clearly loves making beautiful food. It's small and quirky and you may walk past it, but you shouldn't!

Great food and service. My Wife and I visited twice during a 5 day visit to Ventnor

A true hidden gem! We had a table for 6 with a couple of fussy eaters and found something for everyone. The food was out of this world, well presented, great portions and so tasty. Staff were great and the price was very reasonable considering the quality of the food. Would 100% recommend if staying in Ventnor or nearby.

The food is excellent. Healthy, plenty of it, done in a particularly appealing way.

One of the best meals I’ve had in ages. Fresh seafood, creative and filling dishes. We tried the seafood risotto, crab bao, and green curry.

On holiday. Cold call and at 5:45 could help us with a meal. Brilliant decision Explained the menu with their Asian twists on European food. Could view the action in the recently revised kitchen. Enjoyed the experience went back the next evening as it was our last night visiting Ventnor. Again enjoyed the experience.

Small restaurant with a terrific atmosphere, very friendly staff and beautifully-prepared food (off a rather quirky menu). Open kitchen so can see the attention the chef is giving to getting the plates right. Not cheap, but highly recommended.

What a wonderful find. Excellent food and staff. Chefs are happy to talk about ingredients, etc. Amazing what they turn out from such a small kitchen. If I lived on the island I would be pestering them to give cooking lessons. So nice to get fresh well cooked food.

Can i give 10 stars?? This is by far one of the best 5 restaurants in my entire life....I am a chef, and I enjoyed every single dish, every single moment in the restaurant.. scallops were the best I've ever had, but i can easy mention every single dish....the wine spectacular, the service, just amazing... I really hope to come back and to taste the rest of the menu, you guys are doing a fabulous job, very well done from the bottom of my heart... Thanks 😊

We had a great meal here a couple of weeks ago. Service was excellent and the food tasty. What we loved was the kid's menu - really interesting for our children, tasty and made them feel special. Would recommend a visit!

Outstanding food in an unassuming setting ,the best steak I have ever eaten . That Chef is going places . All the meals we ordered were beyond expectation. I’m looking forward to visiting the Isle of Wight again .

Very welcoming staff, amazing food, padded bench was a little uncomfortable, and we were a little cold in the restaurant but honestly the food and the service was to die for. It was relatively pricey but given my previous comment you get what you pay for. I would recommend you go here.

Wonderful food and staff, a must visit if your on the ise of wight book early though Michelin star food at reasonable prices...

Upon arrival we had a very cheery and welcome greeting by the manager Poppy who made us feel completely at home, she had an amazing knowledge of anything we asked about the drinks and menu etc. We were handed over to Matt who also looked after us for the evening. Very warm, professional and accommodating. We were surprised to learn it was only his 3rd shift! We ordered small plates from the specials menu as well as from the daily. We noticed that the prices were slightly elevated from other restaurants, however when the food arrived, as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. The oysters were the best I’ve ever tasted, the Lobster bao buns were packed with delicious tail and seasoning, the squid was cooked to perfection with a mouth watering chilli dip and the tempura crab was really flavoursome, soft and delicate. Deserts were amazing too, we had the sticky toffee pudding and the dark chocolate Namelaka, we could have licked those plates clean. No grumbles about anything. Another thing I like about the restaurant is the food is cooked in full view. The chefs are very professional and you can overhear them checking in with the waiting staff constantly to make sure what they are cooking is to everybody’s satisfaction. There is definitely a vibe here like a little bee hive, very well organised, everyone working together and like a well rehearsed autonomous team. All the food comes out in perfect timing, no long waits, they seem to have this down to a T. Bottom line, I took my partner her for a valentines meal and she was very impressed as much as I was, the staff are lovely and the food is amazing so big thumbs up and a massive thanks from us 😊🙏

THE BEST FOOD ON THE IOW! An absolute must of you are on the Isle of Wight. The food is an excellent blend of Asian styles with everyone's favourite being the Asian twist on Roast Beef! I must also say, their other restaurant at Castlehaven is also a very beautiful location!

This has to be one of the hidden Secrets on the IoW. Your food never ceases to amaze me! Katsu Rice Cubes! WHAAAT! they are to die for. The Dynamite Rice- To LIVE for! This probably has to be the in the top 3 'best food' on the Island.

Highly recommend this place! A successful fusion of seafood and Asian flavours, done in a way that is innovative and very very tasty. Add to that the impeccable service and overall atmosphere - you can't go wrong. We didn't know what to expect when we came here and were extremely pleasantly surprised. Two of The Cooks are thieves they have taken something sentimental from me a card with what dragons are in different ancient cultures even myths saying most dragons are Warriors but also descendants of Dracula.

This is a small, perfectly formed restaurant with excellent staff serving amazing food. We were a table of 4 and were all really impressed. We hope to return one day.

Can't praise the eve we had here enough. Food was a very full, interesting and enticing menu of flavours. It was very tasty and presented very well indeed. My teenage daughter was particularly taken by the unique take on some dishes. Sharing was a must to get the full experience as we mixed small and larger plates. Well done!

If you are someone love exploring and surprises, you must leave all your choices to the chef! You will be rewarded absolutely. The service and atmosphere is good as well. Unfortunately, I am allergic to alcohols, otherwise I definitely will order a glass of wine to dine with splendid food!

A quaint little place tucked away in Ventor with a cracking menu. I can normally hone in on a menu and pick what I want straight away but there was so much great choice here I was torn on what to have. I'll be going back to finish off the menu!

We went to celebrate my Wife's special birthday. This is an absolute gem of a place and we will be back. We love dining out and working for a very high end luxury cruiseline, the cuisine was comparable. We have already started telling our friends about it.

Cosy Asian Fusion restaurant specialising in seafood, with daily specials. Interesting cocktails with smoke bubble effect. Try the Isle of wight blue cheese ice cream with honeycomb wafers!

Whilst the restaurant was showing open, and with plenty of customers, the door was locked and the management wouldn't let us in, not would they open it to explain why we couldn't have a table. I might have been wearing shorts, but I don't think my legs are that bad! Thanks for the prompt response, but I can assure you that the door was definitely locked. Check your cctv for 27th June from 8pm onwards. A young lady waiting on tables saw us, smiled and signalled us to wait, she alerted an older lady who took one look at us and shook her head. Important you know this, but if we're ever in the area again, we will give you another try.

Food was stunning. Fillet steak was one of the best I’ve had for a very long time.

There food is exquisite. 👌None like the other, Totally worth it. Every bit of the food was perfect. More than 100% Recommended. 💯Will definitely be coming back. Place was not that big and does not have a lot of sits, but it has great ambiance. We didn’t know reservation was needed when we went there but they were able to offer us the sits at the bar, was hesitant to accept at first coz its a bit awkward since we are facing the cashier but we did not regret staying.

Fantastic meal, highly recommend for a special meal out. Our Girls 12 & 14 also throughly enjoyed themselves as well.

Entertaining a great friend from France meant we needed to visit True Food Kitchen one of our favourites in Ventnor. They did not disappoint. Amazing food, wonderful flavours, super quality and great service. Never cheap but really worth the treat. My teen girls loved it, we loved it and our friend was very impressed. A lovely evening thanks to the TZ True Food team - thanks!

Such a lovely atmospheric place to enjoy the freshest tastiest food presented in the most beautiful way. Amazing to be able to see your dishes prepared by the chefs and the front of house staff are knowledgeable and efficient. Highly recommended!!!

NOTE: THIS IS NOT A REVIEW REGARDING THEIR FOOD. Not had the chance to eat here yet however their listing on google maps says they do takeout (takeaway) only issue is when i phone up, they don't do takeaway, or delivery, it's only a sit in establishment. Kind person on the phone and again, haven't had the chance to eat here but its extremely annoying searching for places to order food from only to then, when i go to order, be told the listing is incorrect and i've just wasted my time.

Great experience all round, very friendly helpful service, fabulous 5 course taster menu of Asian fusion food - each course looked and tasted truly delicious. Friendly kitchen staff who we could see at work, taking great care of every plate. Full on a Wed evening in March so glad we booked. Would highly recommend and we will be back.

The restaurant has changed theme since last I went. The food is still exceptional and the staff were attentive but not at all intrusive. This is a great spot so would highly recommend you check them out.

Love this restaurant and went with my family for the New Years taster menu. Truly outstanding and so special, thank you to all the team who put in such a tremendous effort to make such a memorable evening for us, superb!!!!!

Not a day goes by that I don't think about the white chocolate and miso crème brûlée. Honestly the best dessert I've ever eaten in the UK. Starters and mains are fantastic too, but the crème brûlée will keep me coming back
