Very nice place to spend with family.Children like to spend time on the garden ho have a playground .Food is very nice, staff the best. I recommend this place for family time.

Was yesterday with my family for lunch.Pub was clean and tidy,food came out in time , was hot and fresh.Staff was very helpful and thank you for that to Cornelia,Claire,Mia and Definitely will come back.

Went here for family meal and it was very disappointing. The place is big and was quite busy yet there were only 2 staff serving and taking meals and drinks out. A young lad behind the bar really didn’t have a clue - not his fault, probably lack of training but getting a round of drinks took almost 30 minutes. Ordering food was an even bigger ordeal - again probably due to lack of training. When the food came out - to be fair the meals were fine apart from mine. I had the chicken New Yorker made with smallest chicken breasts I have ever seen and it was tough as hell and inedible.

The single worst meal we have ever had, and I've had alot... The three of us entered your 'establishment' today in the hope of a fulfilling our hopes of a NICE and easy dinner. To our great disappointment, the food was dire, not a single one of us enjoy any aspect of our meals. Firstly, None of us drink alcohol so we opted for three pints of coke, which were flatter than my mood at the end of the meal. Secondly, I opted to order the Home Run burger and a side of Korean BBQ chicken wings. The picture shows some lovely looking wings coated in a nice sauce. What came out was drier than the Sahara and had a tiny pot of sauce on the side. Then came my burger, which had a lovely long hair attached to it. Which I only noticed after tucking in. As the waitress came over with the rest of the food for the table, I challenged her on what the situation was with the wings. And she stated 'oh, you have to ask for them to be coated', so naturally I said I wanted them coated in sauce like In the picture. She then took them away and I watched her pour the sauce onto the wings and give them a little shake in the kitchen before bringing them back over. It was at this point that I noticed the hair In my burger, and felt embarrassed about having to complain again, particularly as the waitress was far from happy to help. When the food eventually came out again 20 minutes later (the restaurant was almost empty so shouldn't have taken this long...) The burger was inedible, the beef was grainy and greasy and tasted dreadful. My friend ordered the Full Monty Mixed Grill... Where do I begin... The steak which he asked for medium rare was as tough as old boots. The chicken 'breast' was somehow equally as dry, and about the size of a small sausage. The gammon was white, I've never seen white gammon before but that wasn't quite as tough, but did lack flavour. The peas were like bullets. I can't remember what else was on there but then again nothing about this meal will be remembered. Lastly my girlfriend had the Southern Comfort Texan Toast, the bread came out soggy even though there was the smallest amount of sauce on it. There was nothing comforting about it in the slightest. Contrary to what you might believe, we're not fussy people. We do however have a minimum standard of how we expect our food to be. We complained to the staff at the time who came to take our plates. She didn't seem interested, and took my plate away and left everyone else's. And then proceed to go about her business around the rest of the restaurant and never came back. To say we are disatisfied would be to put it politely. I cannot say I would return to any of your establishments in future If this is the quality of food and standard of service.

Shocking every bank holiday weekend they are out of beers/cider and lack of staff serving is bar. Management are a waste of time. Toilet sinks are blocked and have been for over 2 months and nothing done. Change of management needed

The food was amazing and the staff were good however the waiting times weren't great, i would've understood if it was busy but it wasn't terribly busy and as someone who works in a kitchen i understand but we waited for around 45mins to an hour for our food. and also took 30mins for a bottle of prosecco

I went to Victoria cross on the Tuesday before lockdown . I was greeted with a smile and the pub was welcoming . All the staff was helpful and the night was so good . It was a night of laughter and fun. I thank the staff for making me feel so welcome every time I go in there .

We visited here as a family of 5 on Monday last week for lunch and the whole experience was great! I had the Mix It Up with chicken skewers and it was delicious! The team were really friendly!We will definitely be back when we are allowed!

Decided to visit the area for the weekend and we came across this amazing pub. The team seemed to be very efficient and nothing was too much trouble. The safety measures in place made us feel completely at ease and the combination of the drink deals and good selection of food made us decide to revisit the second night! Thanks to all the team. Good Kovid 19 signage and instructions on entering the pub, including the compulsory NHS check in QR code. The staff member who served me enforced all the Covid 19 rules, so well done to her. Dropped two stars because the place was pretty soulless, ok, it was only 3pm on a Thursday, but there was no background music or even the sound on quietly on the three large TVs which were on. Also, if you are just in for a drink and no food, you will be ushered into the enclosed bar area which will not be everyone's cup of tea, especially if you are female and put in there with the blokes swearing !!! My Coors was fine and price was good.

Great service from all the staff and the food was good. Had a table on the mezzanine area. Lots of choices of food and helped cater for one of our coeliac guests.

Desafortunadamente, visitamos este restaurante hoy. La mesera insistió en que usara una máscara para caminar 10 metros desde la entrada hasta la mesa, aunque su estacionamiento no era accesible debido a obras de construcción. Tuve que caminar hasta mi auto, que estaba estacionado a 5 minutos para conseguir una máscara, ya que ella no se ofreció a darme una máscara a pesar de que le expliqué las circunstancias. Cuando finalmente nos sentamos y ordenamos, la camarera insistió en que pagara la cuenta antes de que pudiéramos ordenar. Cuando llegó la comida (pedí una parrillada mixta), el pedido estaba mal y cuando le expliqué esto a la mesera que le había pedido específicamente no papas fritas, todo lo que obtuve fue una mirada vacía en blanco, y no se hizo ningún intento de rectificar la situación. La comida que obtuvimos fue tibia en lugar de caliente. El restaurante estaba prácticamente vacío, lo que, dado el servicio prestado, no es de extrañar. No volveré nunca más y recomiendo encarecidamente a la gente que no coma aquí.

No estoy seguro si Victoria Cross está bajo un gerente diferente, pero nos sorprendió gratamente durante nuestra última visita. Muy consciente de Covid, nos llevaron rápidamente a la mesa y la comida y la bebida se ordenaron y se llevaron a la mesa. Los tres platos de comida eran de buena calidad. Recibido por un amable miembro del personal que nos acomodó y nos explicó cómo ordenamos, etc. Descargar la aplicación para ordenar fue un poco complicado porque había descargado la aplicación incorrecta (no es culpa de los restaurantes).Los champiñones empanizados para empezar eran encantadores, pero con demasiada ensalada.Mi esposo tenía tocino y hamburguesa con queso doblada, estaba muy seca.Lo mezclé con medio pollo asado, papas fritas y ensalada de col y salsa BBQ (¿qué salsa BBQ?); No había salsa BBQ y cuando pedí la salsa y el kétchup para la mesa, me llevaron la cantidad más pequeña en un vaso de papel. También nos trajeron UNO de estos con salsa de tomate para ir entre 2 niños.Las comidas de los niños consistían en macarrones con queso y nuggets de pollo y patatas fritas. Ambos disfrutaron mucho de sus comidas, a pesar de la falta de salsa de tomate.Los pudines estaban bien. Bizcocho de chocolate con helado x 3. Eran enormes porciones de pastel con muy poco helado (1 bola). Me decepcionó que el brownie no estuviera en el menú principal de pudines, sino que estuviera disponible como parte de los años dorados y del menú infantil. Hubiera preferido el brownie al pastel.El más joven tuvo un helado de chocolate manía para niños y lo disfruté mucho.Después de nuestra comida principal, a 2 de nosotros nos quitaron los platos, y luego, cuando salieron nuestros budines, iban a dejar los 2 platos restantes en la mesa hasta que les pidiera que se los llevaran. JajajaPara ser honesto, fue un poco impredecible.Además, había un DJ haciendo bingo, Dios mío, cosas así deberían ser un poco más tarde en la noche, no a las 5 pm. Empacó como a las 6 pm. Me sentí mal por él, ya que la gente estaba allí para comer principalmente y no estaba demasiado interesada en el bingo.Puede que vuelva algún día, no fue horrible, pero no fue WOW.

El desayuno de burrito vino sin tomates.Vi al servidor ir y venir de la cocina después de no lavarse las manos y tocarse la cara todo el tiempo que estuve allí.¡Recomendaría al 100% ir a otro lugar!

Disfruté de una comida deliciosa, la comida estaba bien presentada y llegó rápidamente, el personal mayor trabajó muy duro mientras que el personal más joven parecía preferir charlar con amigos sentados en las mesas.

Intenté cenar aquí y fue como comer en un parque infantil. Un grupo de niños sin supervisión corrían gritando todo el tiempo. Ignorando por completo el sistema unidireccional y las precauciones de Covid. Las mesas tienen un letrero que dice que están limpias y desinfectadas, pero cada mesa y silla vacía fue tocada por estos pequeños y horribles gamberros. Los padres no estaban a la vista y el personal no hizo nada. Salí temprano y no volveré, es un chav cr che, no un pub.

I went to Victoria Cross on 5.8.20 with 3 friends, one of which is disabled. We initially went in to eat, but understandably it was busy because of the governments "Eat out" incentive so the lady who greeted us said unless we had booked we couldn't get a table. We left, and tried to find somewhere else to eat which was did, but it wasnt for another 1.5hrs so we thought as the bar seemed quiet we would go back in to Victoria Cross and have a couple of drinks. I went in to check availability at the bar as my disabled friend did not want to get out of the car unnecessarily. I went into the bar, and sat down on a table, a lady behind the bar asked if I could sit on another table, I said there are more people joining me so could I sit where I was as I knew my friend couldn't get inn the higher stools, and she said that was fine. I called my friends phone and said it was fine to come in. They walked in to a very rude reception. The lady wouldn't let them into the bar area, saying it was closed. They said I was in there holding a table. Another lady came in and was really rude and abrupt when she came over to me. She said I shouldn't be in there, so I said someone from behind the bar said it was fine, she then preceded to agressively ask everyone behind the bar "who told her she could sit here", and whats more annoying is that not one of them admitted to talking to me. This aggressive member of staff then said "well, can you tell me what they look like" as though I was lying, this was all happening with other customers looking on. I felt so embarrassed. I said she was just hear behind the bar, and I said she had asked me to go to another table but I said friends we're coming, almost just to prove I had a conversation but this rude women just carried on saying "well which one was It, you must know if you just spoke to them" She then said "well the bar is closed so we're not serving anyone else". Rather than have an argument we left. Customs service was just shocking!!!! I understand that it's busy, and we would of been happy to leave like we were the first time we came in, but there was no need to be rude and publicly embarrass my friends and I. We ended up going to Beefeater where the staff were lovely.

Fui allí con un grupo de amigos el 08/05/20, la oferta de comer fuera para ayudar estaba en marcha, pero no sabíamos que tenías que reservar, lo cual está bien, pero la forma en que hablamos fue simplemente grosera, fue como la chica se complació en alejarnos, claramente nuestra cara no encajaba, su actitud era espantosa, no he estado allí desde el cierre, esa será la última vez que iré allí, esa niña necesita capacitación en servicio al cliente y modales sencillos.

Visité Victoria Cross en Reading un jueves tranquilo a la hora del almuerzo, no tuve que esperar y Kerry me acompañó de inmediato a mi mesa, quien fue amable y acogedor, y me notificó sobre las nuevas actualizaciones de reapertura con Pub Safe y Track & Rastro. Luego me preguntaron sobre hacer un pedido en la aplicación, para facilitar mi visita, así que pedí mi comida y bebida, mi bebida fue entregada de inmediato y esperé unos 15 minutos por mi comida. Ben luego me trajo la comida y me preguntó si quería algo más o si necesitaba ayuda.La hamburguesa en sí estaba llena de sabor y se servía caliente, el tamaño de la porción es muy generoso por el precio que pagaste y la calidad es muy buena. Disfruté mi hamburguesa y mi bebida, luego me fui después de unos 10 minutos.Toda la visita fue muy tranquila y fácil, me sentí muy seguro en el pub ya que todo el personal llevaba máscaras o visores, los asientos estaban muy espaciados y el uso de la aplicación evita hacer colas innecesarias o estar en el bar. También había un miembro del personal revisando constantemente el restaurante para limpiar mesas / sillas, baños y puntos de contacto, por lo que siempre sentí que el restaurante estaba limpio e higiénico.Definitivamente volvería a visitar, el restaurante tiene un ambiente agradable y está muy limpio, así que me siento muy seguro al visitarlo.

Hoy fue nuestra primera visita a un restaurante desde el cierre. Los niños estaban preocupados por cómo funciona todo ahora, nuestro servidor Toyah fue fantástico, tranquilizó a los niños y les explicó todo para que entendieran.

Vine hoy para un almuerzo rápido antes de volver al trabajo y me atendieron usando mi teléfono y una señorita salió y me sirvió mi comida con una sonrisa en su rostro e hizo que toda mi experiencia fuera diez veces mejor. Le pregunté a uno de sus empleados quién era la dama y me dieron un asesor de viajes de su nombre Paris, así que por favor denle las gracias a Paris.

El Victoria Cross está de regreso con su menú completo y precios previos al cierre, que siempre han tenido una excelente relación calidad-precio. Ahora hay aún más espacio entre las mesas y la opción de usar su aplicación para ordenar y pagar, pero esto no es obligatorio y usamos tokens de pub para pagar en el bar. El amable personal trajo bebidas y comida a la mesa.

Sat in the beer garden enjoyed the food . Very impressed with the safe atmosphere plenty of hand gel all staff wearing masks easy to follow rules we felt really safe .we were served by Paris who was very helpful

Tuvimos una comida deliciosa hoy. Nuestro anfitrión de la caja fuerte del pub nos explicó claramente todas las reglas de noticias. Tienen muchas medidas de seguridad y nos sentimos muy seguros. Usamos la aplicación de pedido y pago, por lo que no tuvimos que ir al bar. La comida y la bebida se entregan en una mesa cercana para que no tenga que tener contacto con el personal. ¡Me sentí más seguro aquí que en los supermercados! La comida llegó muy rápido y sabía bien. Gran valor, gran servicio y experiencia segura. Esperamos volver de nuevo.

Nos despertamos y estábamos deseando una cena asada (bueno, yo estaba y convencí a mi novia), así que decidimos probar el Victoria Cross, solo pasamos por allí, así que no tenía una opinión previa, aunque temía lo peor cuando vi la mitad de una puerta de entrada tapiada. Entramos, estaba ordenado, limpio y nos sentamos al final de la barra donde había un callejón sin salida con algunos asientos. 2 por 13 en las cenas asadas, así que pedimos esas y una porción de patatas fritas. Era hermoso, buen puré, Yorkshire, verduras, y lo que se puede ver en la foto, pedí las patatas fritas como acompañamiento porque pensé que la cena no me llenará, ¡qué equivocado estaba! Estaba delicioso, caliente y malditamente encantador. Llegamos a las 12.15 y la comida salió en 15 minutos. ¿Definitivamente volveré cuando pueda convencer a la señorita de que le dé otro asado tradicional de los domingos?

What a difference competent staff make! A year ago I gave this place 3 chances and it had badly bungled them all. This time, like a whole different pub. The pies are lovely, good value, impressive staff.

Good service, value and food. There is food available to suit most tastes, dietary requirements and budgets. Simple ordering system means you pay with order, so do not have to queue when you decide to leave!

Second time of coming to this establishment. This time it was a Saturday, and was fairly quiet. Plenty of places to chose from to sit. Manager very efficient at bar/counter serving, though there was new staff which may have slowed progress. All staff seemed good, Tomisha was a pleasant and courteous young woman and hadn't forgotten about an enquiry reference a menu option. It would be good if the menu had a simple Ham, Egg & Chips for the young or older generations, however the Macaroni cheese was perfectly good enough. House burger was ok, though my fellow diner had better in similar establishments (Harvester/Tobys/Miller Carter). There were other meal deals that other diners were having and the restaurant was children and wheel chair friendly judging by the clientele.

We use the Victoria Cross on a regular basis, the staff are always friendly, pleasant and helpful. The seating is well spaced and the food is expectional good value for money.

OK hadn't been there for quite a while.To be honest, didn't think very high of it.But went recently and have to say much much better.Cleanliness 4/5, staff 5/5, food 3.5/5.Food was as usual as before what u could do at home, but now, tasted better (not burnt, raw or old), served quickly and good servings.Will be going back

L’ambiente bello e accogliente, purtroppo il personale non è molto competente e soprattutto molto insufficiente con la richiesta del cliente. Il cibo senza gusto e neanche servito bene. La richiesta di ordinazioni sbagliata 3 volte su 4. La porzione dei dolci troppo grande. Direi che non tornerò mai più.

AS pensioners we go in there 3 times a week, on Wednesday there was no eggs and today I went in there was no salad. I waited over 45mins for my pudding and still no show. We approached bar staff and said about it who’s it is not her fault and asked if I wanted to be reimbursed I said no dont bother, we will now look to go elsewhere which is a shame as it is a nice place to

Had become a bit of a regular customer because the food and standards had risen so dramatically, this all came to an end with my last visit! I ordered a mixed grill and after waiting ages for it to arrive found the egg to be rock hard and the meats and chips to be cold. I pointed this out to the waiter who apologised said he would sort it out and took the plate away. It was returning about 10 mins later but it was exactly the same plate (apart from the fried egg which had been replaced) they had obviously just tried reheating the food which had rendered it all inedible! I then spoke to the manager who didn’t seem to really be aware of what I thought to be a problem but eventually gave me a voucher in way of compensation. Hopefully when I use it things will have improved again.

Called today with friends for a few pints and a meal before the football match only to find the doors locked and several other people waiting outside,

I have been here before, it was terrible then and it's terrible now. The only reason I returned is because it was a free meal for me paid for by my work.

Thought we'd give this a try as we normally eat elsewhere when in Reading. We had the 'two meals for £9.99' deal and they were both very good. Staff were efficient and friendly. will come here again.

Menu choosen before hand but took 40minutes to be asked if we was ready to eat, then starters finaly arrived. Clearing away was painfully slow. Main meal was diabolical.. veg couldn't be ate.. roast potatoes rock hard and couldn't be cut.. brussel sprouts uncooked or frozen. No gravy....All in all for somewhere we've visited before, it was a shambles and the service at the most awful. So be warned. Steer a wide berth of this establishment. Maybe new management maybe be a starter, excuse the pun.

Booked a table for an annual family gathering online, specifically requesting the upper level, but we were seated downstairs next to the drafty door. The online system is not the best as it’s too inflexible.

Wednesday afernoon called in at The victoria cross, staff at the ready to serve you , nice surroundings, looked nice and new, had second flour with big window, looked very nice, also notices second bar , seperated off for when they have music nights , all looked very nice, food arrived quickly , nice and hot and tasty. Staff attentve, and manager called by to ask if everything was ok. We all commentad on the nice surroundings and food, we did say how we had not called in prior, but see things are a lot better after the revamp and it would seem the clientel seem a lot nicer , he did indicate they had a few problems but all was well now. We said yes we would be back

I am absolutely appalled by the service I received from this pub today! I believe it is under new management and the manager was incredibly rude to me, ( think his name was Alex) refusing to give me a refund to a grab game that was not working even after it was turned off as ‘out of order’!!! Was rude to my mother in law and wouldn’t even look at her when she was talking to order food! No please, no Thankyou from him and just dan right RUDE. I WILL NEVER RETURN UNLESS HE IS GONE.

The last three meals I have eaten have been very poor due to lack of staff the meals end up over cooked because they are left on hot counter until the waitress gets there!

Very good food lovely people we use the Victoria cross about 3/4 time as week as the food and prices are exactly right for us being we are over 60

I came in in September time and the service was good but my fish was really battered too much dough though anyway I asked for the manager and a women with short hair named Chelsea came over and sorted everything out for us and was really helpful we left with a smile on our face.

My wife and I brought our granddaughter here for Sunday dinner. It was early evening and not particularly busy. I had used the Trooper Potts before and this was my first time back since the refurbishment. I didn’t particularly like the Trooper Potts but I do generally like Greene King pubs so gave it a go. The first issue was as you approached there was a big sign saying dining entrance leading into an outside seating area so we went that way as we were intending to eat but it didn’t lead anywhere, very odd. On arrival the service was pretty slow despite not being busy. When my drinks came the glass looked dirty and when my wife wiped it with a wipe she was shocked at how filthy it was, same with some of the cutlery.We couldn’t find a clean table so we wiped one down ourselves, the floor was covered in food. The food, hot wings followed by Sunday roast, was actually pretty decent to be fair and was very good value at the price. The staff were polite and friendly, just a bit slow. I didn’t notice very much change from the previous pub and there was some pretty industrial language coming from some areas despite a large contingent of children being in the pub. Despite being on my doorstep and the food being good and good value, this is definitely not the place for me.

Kids got sick after eating chicken very bad food not sure who tried to cook the food as the waiter said the chef has only just got in asked who cook our poor food he ignored us and walked away never to return

I had a great meal on Wednesday night. The service might have been a little slow but I enjoyed my crisps and pork scratching. The staff was a bit busy but I’ll take that.

Poor service, waited 40 minutes for our food, and restaurant not busy. Starter came out with the mains!!

Came for lunch with the partner. Brought a meal that was worth sharing and the service was nice and swift. We was asked if the meal was okay and the meal was nice and tasty. Brought smiles to our faces.

Haven't been here since it changed it's name from the Trooper Potts My younger son wanted to come here for his birthday meal so we reluctantly said OK. because I checked on this site to see what it was like not having been for nearly a year and was worried by what I read. I needn't have worried, We found a clear table and sat down, went to the bar to get drinks and got served straight away, no problem setting up a tab and went to sort out food. In the time it took to get the drinks all the dirty tables had been cleared by a young guy who was practically flying round! Three of us had chicken wings and one mushrooms, burgers for the boys and the and gammon. When we ordered had to wait a couple of minutes which was fine, my 14 year old did the order and the burgers were with extra bits and some bits left out but all done without a problem. The food arrived quickly served by the fast table clearer, he came back after a couple of minutes to check all OK, it was fine, the wings being the reason No2 wanted to come in the first place! plates cleared quickly and mains arrived equally fast. Massive fish, very tasty, the bugers were correct as ordered and cooked well, the gammon was very good, the fried egg had a runny yolk for dipping the chips in (they were perfect as well, hot and crisp. The guy asked if we needed any sauces and came and check everything was OK after a couple of minutes. Overall excellent food and service, very good value with drinks a meal for four was £57.

We used to have lunch there before the change in ownership and the food was good value and tasty. When we had lunch last week I ordered the Southern Fried Chicken & Mayo wrap which I’d had and the previous place and was very tasty but this time it arrived with just cooked chicken and lettuce in a wrap, completely tasteless definitely not Southern Fried chicken and absolutely awful. I asked the waitress if there were new chefs who possibly didn’t perhaps know the menu but she just shrugged her shoulders saying she didn’t know. Look the food is cheap and used to be at least tasty so I won’t be eating there again, what a pity.

My first time back since the revamp, it looked great. The food was lovely, with 11 of us eating no one had a bad thing to say except it was great. My only criticism is that our dinner plates were not cleared for a very long time, we had to ask for it to be cleared ready for our puddings.

Lovely pub with great food. The manager and team are very attentive and friendly. Would definatly return.

We popped in for some lunch food was really good, and the the pub was clean and tidy. The service was good, very polite members of staff. Overall i would 100% return 😊

Myself and my girlfriend visited recently. Had a fantastic welcome from the Manager Kevin. All the staff were friendly and the food was delicious! First time here but definitely not the last.

Had a fantastic time a large party of us turned up no booking food was great service was great but what stood out the most was how so accommodating and funny the manager was thank you Kev

I went in this pub before a Reading game. I used to go in here when it was Trooper Potts but stopped when the service went down hill.

|Changing the name of a business seems to be a trend. However, does it make any difference? In this case, sadly not.

Visited last night deciding to give the pub another chance since it's been refurbished. Job to find table not cleared. Waited 30 mins for food ,food avarage saw many people complaining about the wait to bar staff. But the most appalling thing was how the female manager treated a couple asking for a refund after waiting such a long time food , apparently the food had been delivered to the wrong table , the manager offered no sorry to the couple and dismissed them and got another member of staff to refund them and told the couple that they were not welcome back in the pub why ?. After threre treatment I pretty sure they would not be going back and we as a table of four will not be returning. . I hope the couple will complain and I hope other people in the pub last night but a review on to only one word for it appalling

We went there after the match last Saturday and were amazed they had run out of draught bitter and had run out of another pump beer. You’d think they’d expect a bit of extra trade on a match day. We were also confused about why the name of the pub had changed.

Me and my boyfriend visited here while we were down from London in May and absolutely loved the food. Have heard about the refurb and can’t wait to visit again! Food was awesome, really friendly staff, and reasonably priced drinks what more could you ask for?

Went with my children for dinner, very pleasant, friendly staff, my waitress Shannel was brilliant and very patient with the kids.

Since it changed to a Greene King it's just kind of confused. The menu is still a Hungry Horse menu which I find bizarre, the Greene King menu looks much nicer.

Kicked off in the Victoria Cross, you can rename an eatery but you can't change the customers. Such language in front of younglings disgusting, talk about losing the plot!

Disgusting!! Mess, plates, food on the floor even plates on chairs everywhere. The bar was literally covered in dirty glasses. People in the garden throwing glasses into the car park that were smashing and hitting cars. Staff did not care. Had yo queue nearly half an hour to order mains and drink and then it all came out wrong no apology or offer to put things right. People shouting and swearing and pushing in the queue aggressively in a family friendly environment. Police turned up and went into the kitchen for some reason but not to sort out the youths or glass smashing. Food was appalling. A real chav style dump that I would not 're enter with my dog let alone my children. Totally ruined our family holiday meal out. Wanted to complain but no-one to be found. Avoid, avoid, avoid!!!

I’ve been here twice since it’s opened. Once two weeks ago and then again yesterday.

Visited on their opening night after being closed for a re-furbishment. Was very impressed, great food, great service, and pleasant surroundings. Wondered at the time if they had set the “bench mark” a bit high! Visited again a week later... dirty cutlery, chips overdone, not enough serviettes and basically called a liar by the bar staff. The manager on duty did offer a free drink to compensate for the barstaff issue but I guess you can change the name of the pub in Whitley but you can’t take the pub out of Whitley!

We arrived at 8.50 and kitchen was closing but a member of staff spoke to chef to make sure we could have a meal. She was excellent in that she kept us updated and checked that we were happy. Great service.!

On our first visit after reopening it was a promising start. The food was all good massive portions and cheap price. All staff friendly and the place was kept clean unlike other hungry horses especially the one in Bracknell.
