Excellent beer-first pub, huge selection and good rotation. Beautiful garden out back, great for cosy winter sitting inside. Good selection of snacks (the usual crisps etc) and a small menu of really tasty sausage rolls.

Spacious, busy pub with an amazing atmosphere. Good variety of beers. I like sour beer and they have even a few kinds. Not many places in Reading serve it. Highly recommend for evening out.

Exceptional range of cask and keg beers with an emphasis on the Siren range, but with great guests.

Stopped there for a couple of rounds. There's a good vibe and plenty of good ake and other drinks options.

Great boozer a short walk from Reading centre. They have dozens of beers at any one time, and they're constantly changing.

Always a huge selection of ales. Inside a dartboard lots of seats and TVs showing sports. And outside a large seating area, great in the sun.

Me encanta la variedad de cerveza que sirven. Un montón de bombas de barril y muchos más de barriles y todas las cervezas estaban en excelentes condiciones. Los precios eran increíblemente bajos media amigable con el bolsillo y me sorprendió en comparación con lugares alrededor. Have been visited many pubs in Reading and found this one of the best pubs in Reading. Great service, good and friendly staff, Cosy atmosphere and has an amazing beer garden. Love the variety of beer they are serving. Plenty of cask pumps and many more of keg taps and all beers were in excellent condition. The prices were amazingly down mean pocket friendly and surprised me compared to places around. Defo coming back again and surely recommend to all beer lovers.

Great pub—one of the best in Reading. Great choice of beers, some of which are very unique. Very nice food too. Great for watching sport, especially in the garden. Only downside would be the lack of seating inside.

Visited on a Monday lunchtime and there were a few customers in there already. Every time I visit I'm struck by how nice the locals are. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The Nags head always has a great selection of beers and ciders. A great place to go for a drink and a catch up. They are doing food again and the toasted sandwiches are very nice. They have a good selection of games and books as well. Totally recommended if you are in Reading and well worth a visit if you're not. A*****

The Nags Head combines something of the nostalgia for old spit and sawdust boozer, with a clean modern approach. Bear floors, lots of benches and random tables gives an amazing look and atmosphere. There was an incredible selection of beers, knowledgable bar staff and a great menu. It also had an open fire, a fa,ily playing board games, darts in the cornor. I visited early on a damp Thursday evening and it was packed. I could see why, just an amazing pub.

Bit wary at 1st, seemed like a "local pub for local people" at 1st glance but I was drawn by the beer listing. How wrong was i, looks like typical boozer but just sells incredible beer, well kept and good prices. Had a great night and enjoyed every last pint.

The best pub in Reading; none other comes close. Friendly local atmosphere, also very welcoming of more casual trade. Regularly has 12 real ales, 8 'craft' beers, 15 real ciders. Good selection of bottled beer, notably Belgian. Has a Helles and even 3 Pils lagers too. A reasonable wine list for a beer/cider centric pub.

What a cracking pub. This is what a traditional pub should be. Loads of noise and laughter with a fantastic choice of ales. Great atmosphere, as far as I'm concerned the highlight of Reading, a must visit.

The Nags Head pub is always such a fantastic place to visit. Such a great and relaxing atmosphere! The staff are always so friendly and helpful if you’re not sure on what drink to choose! They have such a variety to choose from! The garden is a great place too. So many seats and with an outdoor bar and tvs too! Will be back again soon with friends!

I can honestly say that I believe this to be one of the best pubs in Reading. Their cask beer is served in optimal condition and that's no mean feat considering how many beers they have on. it would be easy to spend a whole afternoon here . I'd say it's definitely an institution and a model for pubs focusing on cask beer. It's well worth the walk from town and they have an outside space as well. highly recommended

The pub offers only beers, but they are of excellent quality. The selection is impressive, and the place has a typical pub atmosphere that's quite interesting. I'll definitely be returning.

Having never had a true cask ale before, this perennial awardee by the Campaign for Real Ale was the natural choice. Extremely helpful and friendly staff walked me through the options, nearly all of which were unfamiliar to this American. I got a great range from a delightful English-hopped ale, a chocolately porter, to a rhubarb cider. They feature cellar-temperature cask ales but the rest is excellent. The beer garden is around back, they did have the Euro football tournament on, picnic tables and umbrellas or tents for shade. Would love to go back.

This is as they say, a beer festival everyday of the year. Wonderful range of local and other ales/ciders, I'm a guy from South Wales, that will surely be back for more, after a week of working in the area I've taken to this place big time 🫶.

It's a proper boozer, huge selection of real ale and craft beer. Minimal selection of food, which is how it should be it's a pub not a restaurant. Love it here.

While I love my visits to The Nag's, the choice of ale and beer is second to none my wife (not an ale drinker) is not so keen. The choice of wine is to say the least small, one type of white wine, which she described as awful. Seeing as there is such a choice of beers, I think a better selection of wines would really be a good idea.

What a cracking old school pub, you will struggle to find a better selection of ales, craft beers, or ciders anywhere! Great serving staff and I particularly recommended the ghost chilli sausage roll! Definitely worth the 10-15 walk from the main Reading station.

Fantastic old pub in central Reading that serves a large selection of different real ales etc. Reminds me of some of the old London pubs I would visit years ago. Want to try some of the beers they will give you a shot glass of anything you would like try out. Nice outside area at rear if you fancy sitting outdoors, space heaters for when cold. If you want a pub without youngsters shouting and fighting this is great, sensible older customers who just want to relax with a drink and chat 👍. Loads of old tables, dart board in corner and a log burning fire in the winter.

Wow! This was recommended to us by another pub when they were closed for a private function and what a recommendation. Absolutely amazing range of ales and craft beers, great staff, lovely sausage rolls, and a happy atmosphere. Looking forward to returning again soon.

Popped in with a colleague while staying in Reading for work - excellent selection of beers and great atmosphere. Lovely pub well worth a visit. We visited on a Monday night and it was full of people, which speaks volumes!

Love love love it here massive selection.of ales and ciders regularly changing weekly. The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable about the beers. The food is great i highly recommend it all as its all amazing. Great outdoor area too. You'd be a fool to never go here

This place has a reputation that is fully deserved. To say it is a beer drinkers paradise is a huge understatement. Many different styles of beer, all clearly signed above the bar, and served by knowledgeable, efficient and friendly staff. A remarkable place.If you are in the vicinity( and by vicinity I mean Northern Europe) you MUST pay a visit. One of the great pubs.🍺👍

Come on guys, you can make better toasties than that... fill them up! We've had toasties multiple times, but we got to the conclusion that the filling is not enough for £6-7, but the toasting process is excellent, as its really crunchy. Chorizo, Chicken and cheese toasties comes with 2 chorizo slices (cheap), bits of chicken and cheap cheese. Vegan toasty also quite dull; 1 vegan sausage, no sauce or much flavor. Would be great if there were more white wine options. Staff are always very friendly :)

What a fantastic pub ! Made to feel very welcome by the staff to start with. Then .... the selection of drinks is amazing, something like 25 cask & keg ales 😲 but for me it was the ciders .. OMG .. about 15 ciders of different .. dryness, crispness, sweetness, fruits, dry, mild, sweet & strengths. Inside the pub was nicely decked & inviting with two tv's for sports etc then outside had an open seating area & a marquee with plenty of tables & facilities for two tv's so they obviously cater for a lot of sports fans. Highly recomend this pub & i'll be sure to visit next time i'm in the area.
