The Palmer Tavern in Reading

We recently visited The Palmer Tavern when we were in the area for a business meeting, the food and service was great and there is a friendly atmosphere.

Great place to come for a game of pool, good selection of drinks. Always come in on a Monday to play pool and Tia is always welcoming and gives service with a smile

Definitely gonna be a regular here, the manager and the assistant manager are outstanding and made my experience excellent, to top it off king Butkus is the best member of staff, his little face just melts my heart!!

With much sadness i would have to say that sam is the most selfish self centered person I have ever met. After lending her a £1000 worth of disco lights to turn her pub into a venue, and had her complete assurance that they would be looked after. Not true. She actually managed to lose half of it and accuse me of taking it. Making my lights worthless, I have now lost £1000 . She keeps saying she is there for you guys . But no.... she is there for herself..

It's a really nice place with great staff. We have had a flat tyre and we were allowed to park our car in the car park for a few days until we were able to sort this out. Thank you very much

Should have been a lovely night at the pub except Saturday night (14/12/24) they had music. Lovely genre, raggae beats and all but so loud we had to leave as our ears were starting to bleed. Shame.

I had a flat tire on Friday, and the owner went above and beyond to help me, allowing me to park safely on their property until Sunday. She was exceptionally kind and accommodating, and the entire staff are friendly and always ready to assist. Their outstanding hospitality and service truly stand out—highly recommend this place!

This pub is fantastic! The vibe is so welcoming and relaxed, and Natalie’s service really stood out. She was super friendly, made great recommendations, and made sure we were taken care of the whole time. The food was great, and the drinks were spot on. Honestly, it’s not often you find service this good. We’ll definitely be back soon. Thanks, Natalie, for making it such a great experience!

At the Palmer tavern me and Margret (my better half) wasn’t that expecting the atmosphere and welcomeness we received. Only came for the drinks but was treated amazing by charlotte so we stayed for longer. Would love to come back when the weekend hits 👍🤙

Me and my fellow housemates had a lovely time here the other day and the food was amazing. The drinks were well priced and Charlotte (one of the staff members) was very hospitable and lovely. Would highly recommend.

We just had a lovely afternoon at the Palmer Tavern for our great grandchild's baby shower and gender reveal. The buffet food was very good value for money, the service was friendly and efficient, and parking was easy for all the guests travelling by car.

The pizza i had was really good however the bartender was really good and created some good conversation which made me feel very welcome, I think her name was Amy. Will definitely go again.

This is a fantastic pub. The atmosphere is great, lots of great deals on throughout the week and very friendly and helpful staff. There is an amazing range of drinks to choose from. The food is very tasty and I highly recommend. A great place to go and spend time with friends or family and enjoy the fantastic atmosphere.

Includes darts and pool for activities which is great ofc, the staff are so lovely and accommodating and the food and drinks are always up to standard. No complaints at all

I’ve just seen a review that was left Saturday morning regarding Friday night, I was in the pub all day/night Friday and I did NOT witness the girls drinking or vaping! The girls at the palmer tavern were working their socks off and the place was busiest I’ve even seen it! It sounds like she needs to say thank you for keeping her property save over night and returning it the next day? The pub is better then its ever been and I take my hat off to the hard work everyone does! Don’t listen to the haters

+ Referb is nice, beer is cheap - Staff drinking and vaping while serving drinks - Toilets are barely functional - I returned the next day to pick up a forgotten item. Google said it opened at 11 and it didn't open until 12. I advised the landlady this in case she needed to change it and her reply was "I don't know what google you're using". This one ma'am.

This pub is our local student pub and it’s the best local anyone could ask for. Great selection, great staff and great atmosphere.

Palmer tavern is a brilliant independent pub. Good food, great local events including music and quizzes, service is phenomenal and the beer garden is a great social summer destination

First time visiting, not much selection of beers, karaoke was loud, maybe call again mid week

Fantastic refurb, garden is amazing, staff really warm and welcoming. Glad to call this our local again....
