We had a lovely Sunday roast here. It is dog friendly and had gluten free options for me.

Had a carvery paid for a regular but the kids carvery was the bigger for kids served on the same size plate. It was smothered in garlic and not cooked thoroughly enough. Floor greased more than an ice rink. 🤮 I hope this place improves drastically.

After hearing this is now the sister pub of the tavern Inn in Newquay we decided too visit, the food was superb, equally as good as the tavern inn in Newquay which is one of our regular haunts, will deffo be returning too try the Sunday carvery🤤 my partner couldn't believe the size of his fish goujon ciabatta 🫣 I think it's safe too say we will be alternating between here and the tavern inn 😊

We had an amazing stay at the Shepherds Hut at Travellers Rest in Cornwall. Picture perfect interiors, clean, accessible, yet feeling like you’re on your own and could not see anyone else but the cows and the sea. We loved switching off, hiking and surfing all just 5 minutes away. Couldn’t recommend highly enough

We promised our friend visiting from Finland a traditional Sunday lunch, and the Traveller's Rest's carvery did not disappoint! The food was great, and the staff were lovely. The chap serving even took a second to bring a bowl of chunks of beef for our dog which was unexpected and lovely. Nb. I've not rated the rooms above as we only ate here, we were staying nearby.

Great location. Easy to find from where we were. Friendly staff. Food was just ok. The mussels weren't fresh - the texture made them seem frozen at some point and some were cold, seems like a supermarket boil in the bag pack. The sirloin was ok but a bit bland.

Me and my partner each ordered the stack burger and I’m glad we checked before we ate it, the buttermilk chicken was pink all the way through. The rest of the meal was nice but we really did not want to risk eating the chicken so we both left it.

So disappointed after visiting tonight. I've been going to this pub for years whenever I'm on holiday near by. Whilst there was nothing wrong with much of the meals that we ordered, there was nothing special about what we had, especially given the price. However it was a member of my group having their concerns about undercooked chicken being dismissed in the way that they were that I found most disappointing. There was a half hearted offer of getting it replaced, but that would have meant a member of the group eating after the rest of the party. Like I said, I've been a loyal if infrequent customer for over 20 years... but that may now change.

I ordered the buttermilk chicken, expecting the typical battered deep fried chicken breast, however I was presented with 3 ratty bits of chicken that were visibly undercooked. When asked if everything was OK with the meal I raised my concerns and was quickly assured that they cooked the chicken twice so it couldn't possibly be raw and my concerns were dismissed. Wouldn't recommend eating at this establishment

Telephoned reservation, and left message, they said they would call back. Didn't call back, so assumed they were busy. Arrived on time and was told no reservation as they don't accept messages, when I said the answering machine mentioned they'd call back, I was told they ignore that so I wi know next time. Website menu turned out to be totally out of date. Placed order at 6pm including a Special of the day and was informed 5 minutes later they had run out, at 6pm that is ridiculous ! Food was just average Definitely NOT recommended!!!!!!!

One of the best pubs I've visited! We were staying in the area for 10 days and ate at The Travellers Rest twice, both times the food was absolutely delicious. We ordered the Seafood Linguine (this is to die for!!) and vegan tagine on our first visit, and the food was so good we had come again. We both ordered steak M/R with no sauce, just the flavoured butter it comes with. We usually have low expectations ordering steak out, but the meal was outstanding. The meat was tender, and everything on the plate was so full of flavour, even the tomatoes! Our 2 year old daughter had cheesy pasta which turned out to be tagliatelle with the most decadent cheese sauce. I would have happily ordered that a side dish for myself! The prices were very reasonable with the steak costing just £20 (about £10 cheaper than back home!). We visited a couple more times just for a drink in the garden, and the service from all front of house was excellent every time. They were very friendly, happy to cater for dogs and small children and always had a smile. The decor inside is beautiful with lots of fairy lights, and the pub had a great feel to it. You felt comfortable going for a casual meal/drink or dressing up a bit. Highly recommend a visit! We will most definitely return.

I went to Travellers rest with my 2 year old son. As I walked in the staff were extremely friendly to me and my son. We went for food. The food was amazing like I had gone to a top notch restaurant. I like my steak rare, normally I get given medium rare in restaurants here I got rare! The amount of food you get is very generous. Service was quick & staff were helpful. Regulars at the pub were extremely friendly, chatty & didnt mind my son patting their dogs! My son & I definately will be going back next time we visit! Highly recommend this place! Located close to Mawgan Porth, this friendly pub offers a warm welcome and a good range of local beers. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, making it the perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploring the beautiful Cornish countryside. I decided to try the steak and ale pie, intrigued by its promise of wholesome comfort food. The pie did not disappoint—it was hearty and flavorful, with tender chunks of meat enveloped in a rich gravy. The triple cooked chips were a standout, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, they were some of the best I've ever tasted. However, my dining experience was marred slightly by the side of fresh vegetables. While peas and carrots are a classic pairing, the combination felt uninspired, especially when served alongside such a delicious pie. My son jokingly referred to it as "prison food," and although I found his assessment a bit harsh, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of disappointment. Nevertheless, the quality of the main dish and the exceptional chips more than made up for any shortcomings. The friendly service and cozy atmosphere further added to the overall enjoyment of the meal. Overall, I would recommend this pub for its tasty food and welcoming ambiance, just be prepared for the occasional misstep in the side dish department.

A very warm welcome and a decent range of beers. We opted for the Tomahawk steak sharing platter for 2. It was a sight to behold, easily enough for 3/4 people. The meat was tender and delicious and cooked just as we like it. The Staff were very friendly as were the locals one of whom said he had the Tomahawk for his birthday and had failed to finish. We were also defeated. We had a lovely evening. Highly recommend the Traveller’s Rest for its food, service and ambience.
