Ok for drinks. The bar staff are attentive and good. The quiz man however made me uncomfortable. Every week at the quiz he would tell everyone on the microphone how he would smash all the women on the picture round. I just sat there disgusted. He does the quiz with his wife, and other family members and he says things like that? When it came to the tickets. One of them was a pink ticket and he kept saying "i love a pink rim". The man was a creep and looked like one aswell. Also the pub is so old fashioned and is suited to decades ago when everyone was thinner. Now most people are obese or overweight, one huge man was blocking the way out. It was a health and safety hazard to be honest. I put a review on here because the owner takes offence to any constructive criticism, just look at the reviews on google

I’ve been here mid week and it has been great because I can take my dog in. But went today (Saturday) and there appears to be all new staff or at least different to my last few visits. When I sat at my table I noticed it was sticky and dirty. On the table next to me a girl spilled some of her food on the table, she did a quick wipe with her serviette so it didn’t look too bad. When they left, the barman removed their plates and glasses and put some more condiments on the table. Not only did he not spray the table, he didn’t even wipe it. I thought he’d come back to it but no. I watched two further groups of people leave and watched the barman repeat the exact thing, not even a cloth in hand. New customers arrived and sat at these tables and I just wondered to myself if I was being fussy or is it because when we had Covid about, we were concerned about hygiene but now it’s gone, so have the standards.

My wife and I (as previously commented) now visit the Travellers Rest on a semi regular basis. Beer is of a high standard, and choice of lagers, etc very good. The food is excellent, and good value. Aside from the usual array of pub favourites, the (boxed) Pizzas are awesome. I have raved about pizzas in several of my reviews, some in the uk, and some overseas. I now find the highest of standards and top 5 pizzas are available on my doorstep (fresh ingredients, home made base). Like pizza? Like the Travellers :)

Partially refurbished during the Covid lockdown, the Travellers is vastly improved. Great in here. We live locally and wander up for a pint or two and some food quite often. Usually get the nachos and there is plenty to keep two people happy. Loads of salsa etc which is usually my gripe with other places. Great atmosphere. Dog friendly too. Tried a pizza the other day and it was lovely, my only tip to improve would be to swap cheddar for mozzarella.

Decoration of this pub is decades overdue but the atmosphere, which gets better the busier it is, usually makes up for it. However, if you don't like dogs this pub is to be avoided, particularly if you want to eat, as there is no area set aside for those who may not be dog lovers, or just like to eat without their smell.

This pub is so good I travel 8000 miles to visit it and believe me it is worth every single yard of the journey! You will be hard pressed to find another pub like it in the area as most of the quainter pubs have been turned into gastro emporiums with prices to match and impersonal service. Here you will find a pub as it should be, great real ales with lots of variety, chilled lagers, fine wine and a fantastic selection of spirits including all the Gins you will ever want. The Travs always had a great reputation for friendliness, good food and a great selection of drinks and Keith and Gill have gone on to develop that further. Importantly too in a world where dog owners are being made to feel like criminals you will find a great welcome here for you and your dog. I cannot wait till my next trip!

We had a lovely walk in Storeton Woods and thought we would call in for a bite to eat. I ordered the ham shank soup (I've eaten this before and it was always delicious) unfortunately, it was terrible this time. There was absolutely no flavour. My husband ordered a ham & cheese toastie. This came out as ham & stilton! He had to send it back. He doesn't like stilton cheese. Our dog was welcome though water bowl and fresh water provided and the beer was excellent. We had Wainwright's. Staff were lovely but when taking away a half eaten bowl of soup, you would think someone might have said, did you not enjoy the soup? We will be back but for drinks only.

To my shame, I have lived close to The Travellers Rest for five years but last visited there in my late teens, over thirty years ago! What a shame, the staff were lovely, the beer well kept with plenty of choice, and the food excellent. Both my wife and I opted for the burgers - we were both amazed at how good they were. I have been to trendy burger bars in Liverpool and other towns but little did I know that the best burger was waiting just round the corner - at half the price! They were freshly prepared and properly flame grilled, tasting like they had just come off the BBQ - brilliant. We will be going back soon. We cannot comment on the other food but watch this space. Go and try a burger and a pint early evening - you will not be disappointed .

We've also enjoyed the odd spot of lunch here too. Our most recent visit was with my parents on the eve of the Liverpool Half Marathon. The pub looks inviting from the outside and is very traditional in decor. Good range of beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks. The food menu isn't huge but there is something on there for everyone. We'd recommend the steak pie (absolutely crammed with meat!), the gammon, the lasagne and the mixed grill. Very reasonable prices and waiting time is what you'd expect for home cooked food. Our latest trip to the Travs, which is under new management was absolutely up to the standard it has always been. Polite friendly staff always welcome you in, the people in there are very socialable too. The range of real ale is very good not to mention the range of lagers and other tipples. They have an all day menu (up until 7ish) I think and if you don’t want a meal, they do a good range of crisp, nuts and other snack bites. The quiz on a Monday night is a good challenge. With the music in the background it all makes for a great venue for a pint and a great pub to relax in.

No corporate eating emporium here, just a real friendly little local that serves fantastic home cooked food, excellent real ales, a variety of chilled lagers, great selection of wines and spirits and a blazing log fire! The staff are very welcoming as are the regulars. Dogs are welcome too, a real rarity these days. Keith and Gill are the most welcoming hosts you will ever find and take a real interest in everyone who comes in. Typical old fashioned pub which could do with freshening up (but still keeping the atmosphere, after all it is an old site). Positives include the surprisingly good food, fairly quick service, good range of beers. Negatives include staff need to come across as welcoming and learn to smile. I don’t think the barmaid smiled once and neither did the man behind the bar. This is quite a cliquey pub and if you aren’t one of the regulars you don’t particularly feel welcomed. Not sure if I would go back which is a shame as it’s on the doorstep for us but who wants to visit somewhere you don’t feel welcome

Went for lunch on recommendation from friends. This place is in a time warp. Pub was quite full but managed to find a table. Placed order at the bar ordering 1 starter, 2 mains, sides and tea and coffee ( driving). Drinks took 15 minutes to arrive and my coffee was just warm waitress asked did ask if we wanted the starter first or all together with the mains, we asked for the starter to be served first. 10 minutes later all food arrived including the starter, explained that we had asked for this to be served first but it was to late now, sides did not arrive either, but could not be bothered to complain. I had ordered the vegetarian enchiladas this was what I would describe as lasagna sheets with what looked like ratatouille inside, not presented well or tasted well either but the baked potato was nice. My husband chose the ham, peas and chips. Ham was cut from the bone and served in thick slices he enjoyed his meal. Would I visit again, no, there was no choice for vegetarians.

The Travellers Rest is an olde worlde pub providing modern comforts and first rate meals. We called here hoping to be able to get a table; our luck was in! Our party of three was easily accommodated in the deceptively spacious interior. The menu consists of mainly classic pub meals. One of our group had Mixed Grill, a lovely array of meats accompanied by chips and the usual trimmings. The second member of our group opted for Lasagne with salad. I elected to try the steak pie with a small quantity of chips. When this arrived the chips were as requested but the quantities of carrots and peas were, to say the least, generous!

4 of us took my mum for her 67th birthday in early Feb. We're not "locals" but we live local and the Travs has always been good for lunch so we thought we'd try an evening meal. Small-ish menu but there was a nice sounding mixed grill on there. We were told it wasn't available so we ordered 3 steaks and a Thai chicken curry. Can't complain about the steaks but we ordered 3 x posh sauces which didn't arrive. When we asked about them, we were brought 1 very small pot of weird gravy-granules-mustard sauce and told "that's 3 portions!". Ok, it's not the end of the world. Until our friend eating the Thai curry bit into a piece of tough wrapping plastic in his meal. We mentioned it all to the nice girl who was serving and she just said "I'm so sorry". That was it. Genuine review from a genuine Bebington resident. I brought my old Mum there for a nice time and they let us down. Sorry.

This pub boasts the best of everything, woods and fields across the road but shops, buses and rail within an easy distance. Add to that superb food in huge portions, great range of hand pulled beers, ice cold lagers, wines, spirits and liquors, friendly welcoming staff and a cosy interior and you cannot possibly go wrong. Such a refreshing change from the usual corporate eating houses, but the food does not cost the earth. Now in the hands of the second generation of the same family the Trav's looks set to keep its standards high way into this century. Whether a quiet pint, cosy meal or family celebration, you will enjoy your stay here and be back for more.

One of the few Wirral pubs that I have no hesitation in recommending to friends and relations. The beers, lagers and ciders are well kept and the food is good and reasonably priced. Why this pub is not in CAMRA's Good Beer Guide is a mystery.

Had a mid week lunch with a mate. Both had a curry and a pint. Mine (Thai green) was very good, served with well sized portions of rice and chips with a nann bread. Good choice of beers and friendly staff. Will be calling again.

Had a lovely meal food was hot and fresh. The cod and chips were great real home cooked chips which was a nice change to frozen ones. Good service and warm welcome. Good prices.

Without shadow of a doubt the best quality and fairest priced meals on the Wirral - as a family we have been to a great many and believe me some long overdue reviews will follow shortly. The Travellers is quality, prompt service, done with a smile and an all round pleasant experience.A little more expensive at the bar than some other local pubs that offer quality real ale but always a good selection and the nice atmosphere more than compensates any extra outlay.

We have visited the Travellers in the past and have always enjoyed our visit with extremely friendly and helpful staff. food is excellent and service was quick. Our recent visit was again, spot on, as was the Guinness.

Love this little pub and its traditional interior, plenty of laughs had here with the family, even better with no phone ignore so there is no distraction! Really can't complain about prices, absolutely cheap as heck for most, and the quiz nights are a laugh...we get pretty competitive in the corner, especially since you can't google! Just a good old nice chilled pub you can wind down in. Its a great catch up place for our family and has been for a year and a half now.

called in with the wife for a quick drink. Big widescreen telly and a range of guest beers and lagers. Food served but limited times. O,K for a pint after work but not on date night!

Met friends there for a birthday meal. Ordered the mixed grill and asked for steak rare to medium. When it arrived everything was ovecooked and saw the "chef " leave almost immediately. Was going up to complain but my friend said enjoy my treat so that compromised me. Used to be a good meal there but I won't waste time or money going again.

I agree with the eternaloptimist14 this pub has lost it's way. Very popular and highly rated at one time. The Trappers Hat can be very up and down ... considering it's only brewed down the road ..... not a good advert for Brimstage Brewery. Reckon a new licensee could breathe new life into The Travis.

This is a nice pub that has lost its way. It feels neglected and on busy nights appears understaffed. As a pub with a past reputation for decent beers the expensive lagers were flat and served in glasses straight out of the dishwasher without a moment to cool down. It appears that nobody really cares anymore but I would hope that with a little tic and regained enthusiasm it could return to the popular, busy local fondly remembered by absent regulars.

I visited WYLDE coffee pretty much everyday while looking after my ill mother. They were always super kind and friendly. The coffee is really, really good and the menu is imaginative and delicious. I also visited the bakery and again the person who served me was very understanding and generous. Thank you to all the staff who make the difference.

When first opened the pork pies were great. But just recently have gone down hill. Seems they are not fresh on the day. Being kept over in fridge

Unfortunately not for us.. we ordered 6 chicken roast dinners. The chicken was a small drum like portion, lots of veg but it was very shrivelled and dry. Roast potatoes looked anaemic, and Gravy was so watery we had to made our own.

Well cooked food with some interesting vegetarian meals, which makes a pleasant change. Prices were reasonable and the food was tasty and good value for money.
