We booked the Traddock for dinner with one of our wine suppliers and his wife and were not disappointed. We had a lovely evening and the food was 10 out of 10. I can particularly recommend the halibut. The atmosphere at the Traddock is refined, but really relaxed and friendly. Need to eat here a little more often.

An excellent meal througout. The space in the lovely old building takes care of the coronavirus distancing side of things. From nibbles and nice bread to starters of rabbit and razor clams through halibut and turbot main courses to desserts of meringue and souffle, the food was superb. For us flavour and texture combinations and the saucing and cooking ability was very good indeed. The style is high quality modern British food and the restrained portion sizes are, for us at least, just right for this style of food - a meal of 3 courses plus nibbles and bread left us feeling we had eaten plenty but not were overstuffed.A decent selection of wines by the glass and half-bottle is useful. If you use a wheelchair, let them know when booking and they will raise the table so you can get your knees underneath.

Had high expectations based on previous meals at similar restaurants. The waiter waS almost too efficient rushing us through our meal with no explanation of what we were eating. We had to put our own napkins on our knee and pour our own wine which is probably a Covid 19 thing but not explained to us. Just felt like nobody cared. Food was ok but starter so salty I couldn’t eat mine and no feedback from the chef after I was asked if all was well and I said it wasn’t. Why ask??? The soufflé was worth waiting for although it didn’t taste of amaretto which was what it was supposed to be. The cheese was so sparse that I couldn’t distinguish one from another and the tasting sheet was not served with the cheese which would have helped.we asked for a copy to take away. I came away disappointed and know why it only has 2 rosettes and not a Michelin star. Very expensive but didn’t deliver for me.

This hotel is wonderful, I loved it. The rooms are superb - mega comfy and huge bed, excellent shower and very spacious. The food is outstanding. We ate at the restaurant and thought all three courses were superb. Great wine list as well. There is also a really nice bar. The quality of the breakfast was also excellent - and great coffee ! The village and surrounding area are beautiful and there is also a really nice pub 10 mins walk away. Finally, it can’t be easy in these trying times but I found the service to be absolutely outstanding. Overall, highly recommended.

Stayed at the Traddock hotel on their gourmet break offer. What an amazing find, not only was the food of a very high standard and delicious but the rooms were fabulous too. We stayed in a top floor suite which exceeded by far our expectations, very spacious and spotlessly clean with an immaculate modern bathroom. The restaurant itself had a pleasant ambience and the meal was nicely paced, the food, including crab and venison was enjoyed by myself whilst my wife had the crab followed by monkfish both of which she said were delicious. The wines were reasonably priced and a good selection. The waiting staff were attentive and friendly. The breakfast selection was plentiful with a good selection of fruits and other delicacies and the hot food was all freshly cooked to order. All in all a delightful hotel in a beautiful location, we will definitely be returning.

Visited the Traddock for a meal as it looks a beautiful building which is established within the picturesque village of Austwick.I cannot fault both the front of house service and also in the restaurant, the attended service was excellent. It all went downhill fast as soon as the food arrived, which was a shame as everything else was very nice. The food provided was extremely tasty but it was more like a tasting session rather than a meal out.Portion sizes provided to satisfy the appetite of a pet budgie, not fully grown homo-sapiens.We tasted a wonderfully cooked food sample that left us wanting for more. As the hunger pangs kick in, the flavours still present on the palletannounce what you could have won. Still hungry after the culinary delight it is likely that you would order a dessert, this is all part of the experience, so is the supper that we prepared when we returned home.Sorry, but it has to be said that the king is definitely not wearing any clothes.

Having dined at The Traddock restaurant on Sunday 18th August, it is with regret that I feel the need to write this review. I wrote the following e-mail four days ago and have had no acknowledgement from The Traddock. Being part of a family reservation for ten people to celebrate my daughters birthday, I was one of seven people to order the roast beef Sunday dinner. Upon receipt of my meal, compared to the others, it appeared that I had been served with the end of the meat. (might I add at this point, when ordering a Sunday roast, one is usually served with slices cut from a joint of either sirloin or topside of beef, not fillet!) I pointed out my scrappy end of the meat to the waiter who said "that is as it is" and rapidly left the room. Still feeling dissatisfied I again pointed this out to the other waiter who said he would speak to the chef - still nothing. When paying the bill I had to ask what the chef had said to eventually be told that he sent his apologies - too late! During the meal we were at no time asked if we would like more drinks, we had to request them and when my grand-daughter ordered a drink it was delivered to her sister as the waiter clearly hadn't been paying attention. On speaking to other members of the party after leaving the restaurant we feel that the price we paid was excessive for, at most, three small pieces of beef, potatoes and vegetables and a dessert. Hoping that my comments will be noted so that you may improve the quality of you food and mainly your service and that any future comments from your clients will be dealt with more satisfactorily to every bodies benefit.

If you want to dine somewhere a little more special than the usual, then this is for you. Yes, it's not cheap, but nor should it be as quality is worth paying for. We booked to have lunch at The Traddock at 2pm after attending a service at Blackburn Cathedral. We had had a very busy few days and both felt tired on arrival but the magic of this hotel immediately charmed us. We had pre-lunch drinks in the large sitting room & perused the menu. After a while we were ushered through to the dining room. We chose the same food as each other - the crab starter and roast beef main course. All the food was delicious and when my husband asked for more of the red wine jus it promptly arrived. For dessert I chose the local cheese plate and my husband the strawberry parfait. WONDERFUL. I lived in the village for 16 years of my childhood and we have been visiting The Traddock for the last forty years and it NEVER disappoints. We were both very concerned to read the negative and unpleasant review also from June 2019 and find it impossible to believe. Thank you Team Traddock we are looking forward to our next visit. My husband and I have recently had the pleasure of visiting The Traddock for the 5th time, staying at the hotel based on their Yorkshire Gourmet break. A six course taster menu the first evening followed by a 3 course meal the second evening. This gave us the opportunity to try a number of wonderful dishes. The flavours, textures & presentation spot on. We enjoy sampling the canapes in the bar, trying delicious homemade bread with lovely butter ( lamb flavour was available this time) followed by excellent starters, mains & desserts. The portions are not large but perfectly formed! It's our interpretation of 'Fine Dining' but appreciate others won't agree. As I said it's all subjective.

My husband and I travel extensively, dining at fine restaurants along the way, and while touring the Dales of Yorkshire, decided to give this restaurant a try, given it's good Trip Advisor rating. What a huge disappointment! We made reservations for 7:30, and were told to arrive at 7:00 to "rest and relax". I ordered a Gin and Tonic for myself and my husband. They were excellent. The bar-man gave good advice on which Gin and Fever Tree tonic to combine. Result was perfect. While we were "relaxing," we were brought two amuse-bouches. One was pork belly served on a mini bun. It was "OK." The other was some concoction of ox-tail with s crust over it. It was dry and lacked any distinguishable flavor. OK, not yet discouraged, but not impressed, we looked forward to dinner. My husband ordered "Scallop" as a starter. He thought that surely there was a "typo" and that it was meant to say "Scallops." But no. A single scallop adorned with some fluff and this and that, arrived in a bowl. This single scallop was so tough and over-cooked that he had to use two knives to cut it. In the meantime, we heard another diner talking to the server about his disappointment with his single scallop. The server claimed that a scallop-diver, friend of the chef, had hand-selected these scallops on his dive, thus, very expensive and only one. Hmmmm.....I did not order a starter, "saving" myself for the main course. What a disaster. I ordered a pork dish. The plate arrived with four very tiny offerings. A minuscule portion of pork in a pickled cabbage leaf, so briny and salty that I could not eat it. A second pork offering, a small and extremely dry and stringy morsel of pork, with maybe some BBQ sauce on it. I pulled it apart and ate it, with difficulty as it was very dry. A little round something of shredded pork, very odd-tasting, which I could not eat due to the horrible flavor. And a slice a bit larger than an inch in diameter, of pork loin, which was perfectly cooked, and delicious. There were 5 very tiny cubes of apple and some kind of preserve on the plate, along with a pencil-sized roasted carrot. So basically, I had a tiny carrot, about three bites of pork loin, half of a roll, and the price was in British Sterling, 22.50 for this plate. When the server came to the table to ask, "How was your meal?", I replied that my belief was that one must be honest, and that the meal was "Pretentious in appearance, and very poor in quality and preparation." I noted my husband's disappointment with his meal, and as I was speaking, the man who prepared our drinks just happened to come to our table to say something to the server. The server immediately grabbed him by the arm and retreated, angrily, to the kitchen, while I was talking. We were quite shocked. At that point-in-time, the couple dining across and behind us, chimed in on how horrible their meals were, and then the couple seated behind them added their complaints to the conversation, about how shocked they were at the pretention and lack of quality. A woman said she had dined there three years ago, and found it to be excellent, so she brought a guest. She said she was horribly embarrassed to bring someone to such a bad dining experience. The manager then appeared, and asked if she could be of assistance. We told her of our disappointment in the quality of the preparation, and the minuscule portions served. As other diners chimed in, I went into another room for a moment. I passed by the man who prepared my drink, and was given a horrible dirty look. When I returned, I mentioned this to the manager, who said, "Well, that is my husband, and I will talk to him about that." He did apologize, very sincerely, as we left. She took the price of one dinner off of our total bill, which was appreciated. Our two "double" G and T's with tonic, totaled 30 British Pounds. The was fair, they were delicious. Don't be mislead by the good reviews. We left feeling quite hungry. I understand that the chef has been there for one year. As the restaurant is in a beautiful countryside hotel, we hope that they can get their act together, as the venue is lovely. I gave the food and value a "1" rating, because there is nothing lower available. I rather the service a "2" as it was good up until the point of my complaint, and the server angrily left as I was talking.

Staying in Austwick, we had booked dinner at the Traddock for our wedding anniversary. Having visited some years ago & having very good memories of our experience, we were looking forward to the evening. The building is lovely & looks stunning at night with welcoming light from the windows. A roaring fire was burning in the hallway & we were warmly greeted & shown through the bar to a large lounge [not the one I remember]. Menus were brought, drinks ordered & a selection of canapes served....quite tasty but slightly strange combinations. We chose our main courses...again some strange combinations and were duly shown into the lovely intimate dining room. Warm bread was brought to the table along with two beautifully formed flavoured butters...so far so good..BUT who, in their wildest nightmares serve quality butter with 'KFC' flavouring??I am sad to say that I actually knew what the initials stood for....BUT WHY would a 'fine dining' restaurant flavour butter with the taste of roast chicken juices WHY?? Needless to say I chose the other butter. Our main courses arrived, beautifully presented [now I am the last person to want an overflowing platter of food ...small portion, top quality & fresh is my style] but this was just style over substance ...I guess the kitchen watch too many tv chefs or is new to Yorkshire where we demand quality & will pay for it but we are not fools...the tiny amount of food as a main course was unbelievable & in no way stunning. On to dessert....tasty but not memorable. The cheeses on the board were very tired & looked most unappetizing...where was the amazing choice of local Yorkshire cheeses? ...there are no excuses for this. Service was both warm & attentive & luckily the price of the meal was not particularly high but it is a great shame that the food badly lets the restaurant down.

Having spent the last 15 years cooking Christmas dinner, we decided that this year we would eat out. Having spoken to people about Places to eat for Christmas dinner we decided to try The Traddock. We booked mid year and was informed that the menu was still to be decided (fair enough it was August). I phoned a week before our meal and enquired if the menu was confirmed and whether it was going to be emailed to me to look at. I was told this never happens and I can look at it on The Teaddock website (again fair enough but considering it was £75/Head it would have been a nice touch. We arrived on the day and were warmly welcomed and taken to the lounge area, drink orders and food orders were taken and we all started to relax. After about 30 mins we were taken to our table and our starters arrived. No Amuse Bouche as listed on the Christmas Day menu on the website. Which seemed strange The starters looked lovely, tasted amazing and we all thought we were in for a treat.. Next came the main course... We all went for traditional Turkey and what a disappointment!! The turkey was bone dry and looked like Gammon, 3 x sprouts/plate, 1 x spoon of carrot mush, too much gravey, several twig parsnips. The general opinion was Toby Carvery on a bad day. We did complain and in fairness our complaint was acknowledged and deductions were made from the final bill. Next came deserts which were pleasant enough. Then finally coffee with six dark chocolate truffles not Petit Fours as per the Christmas Day menu. The bill was paid and comments were made that for the money it was nowhere near the quality you'd expect. Responses were made about the qualifications of the chefs who I'm assuming were also on their Christmas Break. Why no terrines so we could help ourselves or gravy boat etc etc. Overall we were very disappointed with the food and it definitely tainted what should have been a stress free family meal. The meals were eaten but to be honest what else could we do mid afternoon on Christmas Day. I would say that the staff were very attentive and provided good service but to be honest for the money spent, the level of service recevied should be a given.

Totally agree with PeterCman. The food at The Traddock is one of the main reasons why we visit this hotel. We enjoy trying ingredients & food combinations that I don't rustle up at home! There is usually a good description of all the items on the menu & if you're unsure one of the team will give advice. Same goes for the wine list. We find the Portion sizes are just right,as by the time you've eaten your canapes, amuse bouche, bread and starter to receive a huge main course would be way too much especially if you want to try one of their delicious desserts!

We stayed for 2 nights at the Traddock and after reading previous reviews we were looking forward to a good food dining experience. Unfortunately, this was not the case. On the first night we were celebrating our wedding anniversary so we ordered a bottle of champagne at a cost of £65. The champagne make was a completely unknown brand which had absolutely no flavour at all and was completely overpriced for its quality and a complete rip off. Champagne is my favourite drink, so I am fully aware of a good quality wine when I taste it. We ordered lamb for dinner. The portion of lamb was miniscule and what there was was covered in a sweet sauce which made it inedible. The menu had made no mention of the sweetness of this sauce, so it came as quite a surprise and something we would not have chosen if we had known. No fresh vegetables were offered at all. Prior to the main course an amuse bouche was served, at the same time some bread was brought to the table. We then had a long wait before the starter of pate was served and by this point we had eaten the bread, so I asked for more. The waitress had to go and ask the Chef first. She then came back and told us we could have some more but there would be an extra charge. I had no option but to agree as I could not eat the pate without the bread. On the second night we asked if the chef could just provide us with pan fried pork and some vegetables, and a plainer sauce (without madeira or port) on the side. This time we were given another small portion of meat which was dry. This time the sauce came on the side but again no vegetables in sight. The two evening meals were a disaster.

We were staying in a lovely hotel in Clapham but thought we would eat out one night so excitedly set off across the fields to Austwick for dinner at the Traddock. One of the attractions was their vegetarian menu which we were sure would suit us. The reception was perfect and we enjoyed a drink in the garden whilst waiting as we were in no hurry. The canapes arrived. The menu arrived comprising about 6 dishes which could be taken as starters or mains. We were told that the difference would be in the size of the dish. So our choices were made and off we went into the dining room. We made allowance for the minuscule size of the starter notwithstanding the price but when the main course, a fricassee of vegetables, arrived, it was beyond a joke. Whilst chefs are tickling each others' fancies, they should also remember that a meal is supposed to feed the customer. The idea is that you are much less hungry when you leave than when you arrive. The worst thing by far was that when my wife complained the chef readily agreed and one (though not both) of the main courses were not charged. If, as is obviously the case, they knew this, how did they have the nerve to offer it in the first place? I don't want to detract from the main point which I have made but can't help mentioning the laughable performance of the young waiter (not his fault--he was just following the script as instructed). Tonight we have for you --bread. This (pointing) is white bread and this (pointing) is brown bread. There were no instructions what to do with it. That would be too much like Bob Newhart's tobacco sketch

I had high hopes of the The Traddock at Austwick but, sadly, it didn't do very much for me at all. It aims to be a classic 'country house hotel'. If 'country-house' means cultivating a rather dated and stuffy atmosphere appealing to the well-heeled middle classes then they have succeeded. But don't expect a rewarding culinary experience let alone anything remotely approaching gastronomy. Many will be satisfied with the food but, for the price they charge, I would expect much, much better.

We have eaten here before but never in the high season. I wonder if the chef was on holiday? Starters were excellent altho the mackeral needed more acidity - fresh pickles maybe. A beautiful piece of cod was unseasoned and bland with undercooked veg. The chocolate mousse dessert was horrible. 3 blobs of something which was not mousse, large lumps of raw bannana and no caramel flavour detected. Overpowering taste of bannana and peanut.

The ambience was lovely - relaxed country house style and the food, when it arrived, was excellent. However, what let the whole experience down was the service. We booked a table for five at one o'clock and we all arrived on time. We decided on a main course and a dessert, ordered our main courses and drinks. The drinks came promptly, but the food very slowly. We really shouldn't have been still waiting for our desserts at 2.45, and irritation at being kept waiting was becoming the main topic of conversation. A busy lunchtime cannot have been the reason - there was only one other table of four in the dining room. It was just neglect and lack of attention to an important detail. Such a shame because everything else was excellent - which is why I have given this review four stars.

We enjoyed our previous visit so much we returned, and this time it was even better! We had a faultless Sunday Lunch and were very pleased to see that the Restaurant was full. The food is beautifully presented, and so scrumptious - the Cured Sea Trout starter was sublime.

Stayed here a while ago. Had seen it in a Sunday paper bike and walker friendly. Lovely situation. Fairly nice room. Restaurant let itself down when asked for gluten free. It was a struggle and the usual problem of soup arriving with a bread roll and a gravy that was gluten free that in fact wasn't. Apart from that the food was ok.

We met, a trio of school friends, to celebrate our 65th birthdays. The Traddock was chosen as it was easy access from Leeds and Lancaster areas, and one of the party had eaten there before. The service was welcoming and friendly. We were settled with our celebratory prosecco in an ante-room with doors to the garden. Our orders were taken and when ready we were moved through to the dining room. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. I started with trout someone else with soup. I opted for the cheese board as desert. The cheeses were from the Courtyard Dairy down the road in Settle. Delicious. The other deserts were also beautiful and apparently delicious too. A nice mix to choose from: cheese, a chocolatey-fudgey and a fruity option. Would I return? Most definitely.

We visited The Traddock to celebrate a friends birthday. We received a warm and friendly welcome and relaxed in one of the lounges, very comfortable and tastefully decorated. We perused the menu over drinks and ordered. We were shown to our table and enjoyed a delicious three course meal. Good vegetarian options. I couldn't fault anything even if I tried. I will definitely be back.

Visited for Sunday Lunch and were very impressed. We received a warm welcome and were given a choice of rooms in which to enjoy our pre-lunch liquids! The two young ladies who looked after us during our visit were very charming, friendly, attentive and efficient. And the lunch? Faultless! Everything was beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious - the dessert, apple parfait, was a picture on the plate but looked too appetising to leave there! It was yummy. The Owner, Paul Reynolds, came and chatted to us before we left and we told him we had really enjoyed our visit and that we would not hesitate to return before too long. Austwick is a secluded and peaceful village off the A65.

We've been here in the past and loved it. Stunning setting but has a very disappointing meal. Was asked to pre order off a very odd menu a couple of weeks in advance with only a couple of cooked food dishes included. On arrival we had a lovely room with butter and side plates and asked if there was any bread only to be told we should have pre ordered the bread which we found very odd! The food was incredibly poor compared to our last visit - we had to order a number of sides as the mains came without any accompaniments and the deserts were awful- we were even charged £4.95 for one scoop of melted vanilla ice cream. Wouldn't recommend but such a shame as it used to be a lot better!

We found this country restaurant with rooms in a local publication and decided to try it out. The village of Austwick is near Ingleborough and very pleasant indeed. The Traddock is on the edge of the village. The decor is delightful with several ante rooms or lounges. The staff were amazingly friendly and very professional. We went on a friday and the rooms seemed to be let. This is a dog friendly place to stay. The meal we had started with canapés served as we had an aperitif. The menu has a good choice and 3 of us chose crab for starters with the other being scallops. The crab was superb. The local bread was also very good. I chose brill for main course, 2 chose lamb and 1 chicken. There was a considerable wait for this to be served so if you go don't expect to eat in a hurry. Fortunately we had lots to talk about. The main courses were interesting and filling. Perhaps a bit over fancy as the brill taste was lost in the total dish but the others enjoyed their meals without comment. Desserts were also interesting with my choice of rhubarb being very pleasant.Overall, it was a successful evening. I would recommend the venue for adults rather than families. We will go back again and even perhaps stay over and enjoy the local countryside.

The moment you arrive you are greeted with a smile - not left standing waiting for someone to look after you.. Shown to your table, given menus, wine list and offered drinks. A realistically priced menu with a varied choice. Hot plates (my hobby horse) good portions of well-prepared food. Hot dishes of vegetables and potato. Beautifully presented puddings followed by tasty coffee in a most relaxing lounge. It is noted when you have finished a course, the plates are quietly removed and you are given time to prepare for the next course. To be picky I thought the wines were a little expensive a selection even though a different selection. I think somebody had worked hard to produce the selection on the wine list. All concerned should be proud of their restaurant!

My husband and I visited to celebrate a big birthday of mine in March and ordered the taster menu. We loved the relaxed atmosphere, very friendly staff and super food. I was a wondering if my husband would need a midnight feast after 3 courses which we have had after other taster menus, but I can confirm 100% that after all the courses we were both very happy and pleasantly full - so the 'Goldilocks' type of full - just perfect. I had the best Oyster course ever, which beat Knysna oysters in South Africa from an oyster boat ...superb evening had :-)!

We were a group of 4 and we didn't have a problem with the starter course. The main course for 3 of us was very poor, and we couldn't eat it. When asked whether we enjoyed the meal we said that we were not happy and the lovely waitress said that she would pass on the message to the kitchen. What we found annoying was that no person came to talk, no chef, no management, just the poor waitress who was happy to take the main courses off the bill. We are local to the area and we will not return.

Annual family gathering for New Year, chose to go for afternoon tea rather than a formal meal. Have eaten at the Traddock twice before for dinner, both times very good. Gorgeous setting and lovely sitting room to have the afternoon tea. There was fourteen of us booked in but one was ill so 13 for tea. We asked if we could change the numbers but apparently not as they had already catered for 14. However when the sandwiches arrived there was hardly enough to feed 8 never mind 14. The scones were slightly stale and the cakes were the most uninteresting cakes I have ever seen. They charged £15.95 a head, it was worth £10.00 if that. Would not recommend ,which is a shame as the place is lovely.

What a way to start the New Year. Five of us took the trip from near Leeds to North Yorkshire for Sunday lunch at the Traddock in Austwick. Most of us had three courses and all of us were delighted with each course. So well cooked and prepared with many distinctive flavours. A real joy in wonderful surroundings and not at all expensive. If the Traddock were closer to Leeds we'd be there every week. A pleasure to go there. Well done to all involved.

This is an excellent place to stay for an overnight or longer visit. We are local, and so an evening meal, and driving home afterwards was appropriate. We couldn't fault the evening experience. We were greeted on arrival and provided with drinks, nibbles and the menu beside a roaring fire. Our meal was delicious. The crab starters can be highly recommended, as is the hot salmon starter. For mains, we had the lamb, duck breast and - greatly daring, the roast cauliflower. All were superbly cooked and delicious. The variety of desserts we selected (one roast pineapple and two chocolate) were good. Finishing with coffee and salted caramel fudge ended a truly delicious meal. Can highly recommend.

For such a small place this was a surprisingly excellent meal. Very well prepared dishes with great flavour, local artisan ingredients and served by friendly attentive team.My crab starter was devine and the herb feed chicken was very memorable. Quite recently we visited this gem of a hotel and restaurant in the Yorkshire Dales. It was a weekday visit, so not really busy, but we loved it. Spent some time over a morning coffee in the beautiful atmosphere of the hotel, then enjoyed a wonderful meal in the dining room. There were people having lunches in the lounges, and the whole visit was a dream. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious, and we can't wait to go back. We were recommended by friends, who had stayed there a couple of weeks before, and we were not disappointed. HIGH RECOMMENDED.Joan & Geoff Snowden, Leeds

Booked a stay and meal, paid a non refundable deposit, and the 33 hours before we were due there a serious medical emergency arose meaning we had to cancel out holiday and home to Hospital immediately, their reaction was to charge me in full. Apparently you need to know three days in advance if your going to have an emergency. With an attitude like that I would give it a miss..

Agreed it is a lovely place and I have always been delighted with the food. Not so last Sunday. The pre starters, the starters and the desserts were excellent but the main course of roast sirloin was dreadful. The beef was tough, the Yorkshire puddings were overcooked and like polystyrene. The roast potatoes were so overcooked they were almost empty shells. Finally the gravy..... well it may have been gravy granules. Not at all like any known gravy. I was surprised that no commented on my plate being returned with so much uneaten food on it . It was just so disappointing....

After a walking week in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales we wanted a special meal on our last night. The Traddock delivered 100%. We were in the smaller dining room, just five tables, and it was lovely. Soft lighting and candlelight made the atmosphere truly delightful. We had a warm welcome and exemplary service throughout. The food was amazing. My daughter said it was the best vegetarian meal she had ever eaten! The food was beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looked. Can't wait to return to the Dales and the Traddock. If you are visiting, or live in the area, the Traddock is highly recommended.

We found this place by accident when we were driving from Kirkby Lonsdale to Ilkley. The hotel is an old country house with lovely views and is beautifully decorated. We had a superb lunch at a very reasonable price and the dessert was one of the best I have ever eaten (and I have eaten a lot!). The service was second to none in a small dining room with crisp table linens. I would definitely visit again and would love to stay there.

We have stayed here a couple of times and always enjoyed it but this was our first time for Sunday lunch. The service was good although a little slow as it was not busy but we weren't in any rush. The smoked salmon starter was delicious and beautifully dressed with leaves and flowers. Roast beef was plentiful and perfectly cooked but not as hot as I like and the Yorkshire pudding was too overcooked for me but it was tasty and well presented. The highlight was the lemon and thyme panna cotta which was the best dessert I have had. The new executive chef seems to uphold the standard of the previous one so we will eat here again. The garden us lively in summer and the staff are friendly and pleasant.

We dined for the two nights we stayed there at the restaurant, overall the service was fine and the food generally good if a little variable. There is as another commentator has said quite a lot of fish on a short menu, nothing wrong with that as the fish was good but if you are a meat eater it is limited to just two dishes one of which was chicken on the second night, if you have a short menu (and on the principle that it makes for fresher produce and less "packaged" meals) then it has to be balanced .The starters were fine and so were the desserts, the only bad dish was the cheese board, coming straight from the fridge it was hardly edible after leaving for ten minutes and one of the cheeses was past its prime by some way.The wine list (an area I do have knowledge on) was on paper a good mix of the traditional and new world, but I have seen wine lists like this before and even I did not know of many of the producers making much of it a lottery as to what you would actually get, and so it proved with the first wine being changed as it was nothing like any Malbec I have ever drunk, but they to their credit changed it without fuss, rare these days.So overall pleased with food and the service, yes I would recommend.

What a lovely place to stay. This Georgian hotel in the tranquil village of Austwick is certainly the place to stay if you are wanting excellent food and comfortable accommodation. We were fortunate enough to visit on a beautiful summers evening, so sitting in the well kept hotel grounds with a glass of wine was all the more enjoyable. The menu for evening meal is varied and dishes are presented to an excellent standard. My husband who is a chef himself thoroughly enjoyed his menu choice. Try the smoked haddock risotto for starters its delicious!Breakfast does not disappoint either with a good selection of locally sourced or homemade items available. The home made yoghurt is highly recommended. We definately will be back (hopefully when the sun shines)

Stayed at The Lister Arms for a couple of nights mid week. We stayed in the Lister Barn which is a 2 minute walk from the actual pub. Cosy and warm, tastefully decorated with lovely toiletries - a real gem of a place. The main pub is really cosy, with a gorgeous fire burning all day and evening. Breakfast and dinner here were both really good with large portions. Lots of dogs inside the bar area too which was lovely. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely return.

Fantastic place. Roll with bacon and sausage was lovely. Really good quality ingredients and perfectly cooked. Friendly staff and great atmosphere. I've been coming here on caving trips for 25 years and always either start or finish the day in Inglesport. Love it. The only thing I'd say... bring back the pints of tea!!! And please don't ever stop doing the tiffin, it is the best on the planet.

On arrival the pub does not inspire confidence in the quality of food - but it was really very good. I was dubious about the sizes of sunday roasts after reading a previous review - and to be fair, the plates do not arrive loaded with masses of veg or mash. However, we all left feeling satisfied and it really felt like well prepared, high quality food. The steak and ale pie, and steak and ale yorkie had the same filling, which was superb.
