I came here on Monday for lunch with my daughter and her friend. The food was delicious very well presented very freshly cooked. We all had different dishes and we loved it so much. The lady who served us. She was so good so professional and she was working so hard as it was only her working as a waitress, but she was lovely. The chef would come out sometimes to bring the food out to the customers,,and he was so nice as well and he was making sure everyone was happy. Overall I would definitely recommend this place hundred percent, my favourite one to go from now on when I need to go for a lunch in town

The food was great and really good value. Only one waitress who was working really hard but the service was slow as a result. Maybe this was a one off issue.

This was my 2nd visit to The Town House, the first time a couple of months ago it was excellent, couldn't fault a thing, but this time was a different story. The service was very poor, the waitress wasn't dressed properly to start with and seemed very vague. We ordered vegan breakfasts but they arrived with eggs and hallomi on them, and condiments water etc took forever to arrive. Such a shame, the food was good, but it's put us off 😔

I went here with my son as a quick lunch but has now become my favourite place to eat in town. The vibe is chilled and staff are great. Food is out of this world, having previously lived and worked in Turkey it was so good to have a taste of Turkey back. I can’t recommend it enough.

We were in for lunch, having checked out the menu for interest factor before we went. Starters of prawn and avocado salad and chorizo in wine (etc). Both were incredibly tasty and nicely presented. I followed with the king prawns which were in a beautifully fishy tomato sauce that enhanced the prawns. My wife had the kleftiko (slow cooked lamb shank). This was the largest lamb shank I had seen in a restaurant for a good few years, the dish was seasoned with cinnamon and was a great, big, warm hug in a bowl. On the side were steamed veg, which had been charred to perfection. I was too full for dessert so can't comment on those. Some of the speciality dishes were also unavailable, but I am not complaining. Staff rectified small errors quickly and were pleasantly attentive. We'll be back!!!

Well the town house is back to being a poor selection for a family pub restaurant, only two staff trying there best to do it all, the menu is so small you think the food would be nice but not its ropey with both kids leaving their meals and burgers being Processed, shame. Its ok just for a drink with friends I would say.

Clean smart nice place. Only had drinks this time, as been before. Children seem to be welcome so good for family's.

I've been going to this venue since the early eighties when it was first a busy music orientated bar Aristocrat...now it is a bar with and eatery theme. Food is delicious, beer and wine good, service great with attentive staff, who ask how is your meal a few times, which is really nice. Music in the background, decor very good with candles and lightly lit in the eating area. FREE WiFi....wow! Just across the road from the Revolution Bar.

I have been to the Town House on three occasions each visit with a different fellow dinner. On each occasion the overwhelming feeling is the pub is better than they thought it would be! The food is freshly cooked and as Lemon Witch crepes are also available there is a good range off food that catered well for my vegan daughter. Personally I love the fish finger sandwich. I have only been at lunchtime so don’t know what it’s like in the evening. Give it a go good value fresh food plesantly served.

We nipped in for drinks post meal at another pub. Very comfortable sofa area. The place was quiet given it was a Saturday afternoon. The girl behind the bar promised to bring some drinks over when they were all ready then promptly forgot some of them. it was only six drinks!

Visited Friday evening for the crepe and cocktail promotion as a group of three. We've all (and our kids who have been to several events there) been regular customers of lemon witch, but this was our first visit to the new location. The service was very slow as it was the bar staff who were having to leave the bar to wait tables whilst trying to serve drinks. The staff were very friendly so no discredit to them at all, they just need more staff. The cocktails weren't great and one had to be sent back three times for various reasons (flat pepsi etc). They also had no mint which is in several cocktails, so they couldn't be made. The pancakes were fine but they used to be DELICIOUS. I had the Italian job which I've had consistently since they opened and this was the only time it hasn't been as nice. All of the ingredients were very anaemic. My friend also had the goats cheese one and it was very empty and also dry which is unusual. We really love lemon witch but it isn't the same as it used to be. We'll definitely come back and try again, and hope it's better next time

If you are looking to meet with friends or have a business meeting , go somewhere else!! The place is always full of young children at lunchtimes, many who appear to be roaming around without sufficient supervision. Not that this is the staffs fault, but it does not make for a pleasant atmosphere when you are trying to have a working lunch.

Very satisfying stop-off at this non-main street pub and eatery. London drinks' prices so not the cheapest but very relaxed, comfortable atmosphere. Spent a very pleasant 3 hours away from the unusually hot August midday sun. Didn't intend to eat but saw others tucking into the Sunday roast and, as a non-meatie, ordered the vegetarian one. For about £10 very satisfactory. Only caveat that, as with so many veggie 'add-ons', could do with more protein (note to chef: check out beans and pulses). Staff deserve special mention for friendliness and helpfulness. When I asked for extra gravy went and got big bowl with no hesitation. Excellent stuff!

I thoroughly recommend their Sunday roast dinners. Excellent value for money and cooked to perfection. Their cocktails are also very reasonably priced. I have also eaten here at lunch times and enjoy both the atmosphere, as it tends to be quieter than most pubs in the area, and the food.

My daughter and I took my partner for lunch to the Town House for Father’s Day . We were seated at a lovely table by a very polite and helpful young lady. We had 3 starters “ pork bites, Thai fish cakes and chicken satay skewers followed by 3 lamb shank roast dinners. Absolutely amazing. Well done chef. The lamb fell off the bone and was soft and tender and full of flavour. The veg, roast potatoes etc were all up to the same standard. We even took the bones home for our dog. I have used this pub many times over many many years and I can honestly say it is now the best it has ever been. We often drink in the pub but this is the first time we have eaten in the restaurant area but it definitely won’t be the last.

Came for a quick drink, service was amiable.Ok choice of drinks, reasonably priced. Reputedly "smallest pub in Essex"? Needs a little T.L.C. to the interior decor but overall a nice little boozer.
