The Tourist Portrush in Coleraine

We visited the coast restaurant on Saturday while out on a family day trip to Portrush - we hadn't booked a table but happily got seated straight away by a polite young lady, she had made us aware of some new additions to their menu too! I normally stick to the classic American hot pizza which is always a 10/10 but decided to switch it up and go for the hot mess chicken burger, which was unreal! Really good southern fried chicken breast cooked in spicy sauce and blue cheese dressing, would highly recommend!! Coast is always a must visit on our trips to Portrush - great menu and great selection for kids too.!!

My Wife and I love any excuse to get to the Ramore and when we seen the new mouthwatering dishes at coast on social media we were in the car and away! We ordered the Zinger burger and chillionaire and split them so we had half each.Absolutely Amazing dishes and we expected nothing less. Also a shout out to JD for looking after us as we had arrived with no booking. 4 more to try and we are already planning our return. Highly recommend!!!!

Stopped off for a quick bite to eat - I always return to Coast as you just know what you're getting & it's ALWAYS so so good!! Me & my friend both got pizzas and chilli fries, can't go wrong! Tried out the lasagne bites to start, never had anything like them before - HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend! Big shoutout to the staff too – super friendly and on the ball. They made sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing..

I've been a nuber of times but it seems that every time I go the service gets worse and worse. We were seated at 17.45 got appetisers at around 18.00 nachos so not a hard thing to throw together. It is 19.00 and no sign of the main just 2 pizza despite asking staff twice.

Was here for a birthday meal for a friend. Surprised to see a house burger with no dressing which 2 of us had. We had to ask for fries and garlic potatoes which had been ordered to be brought out by which time we had finished our burgers. Another dish which was chicken tagliatelle had about 2 pieces of chicken in it. Was surprised to see my dessert being brought out with a candle on it as staff sang happy birthday to the person who hadn't ordered a dessert! Naturally we didn't leave a tip as we didn't feel the service was up to standard and as we were leaving we heard one staff member say to another "No they didn't leave anything". Doubt I would return or recommend

Attended this restaurant on 2nd November around 7pm. It was quite busy but we promptly got a bench table for two. We found the food and service very good. The prices were also quite reasonable in comparison to other eateries in the area. The staff were very polite and helpful. Not intrusive but there when required. We also liked the decor. Would definitely go back.

Delicious vegetable pizza and curry chips!! They were helpful about my dietary requirements and gave lovely portion sizes. Had a wonderful evening and the staff were very nice!

Booked a table for a group of 10 ( 6 children , 4 adults ) & we had a wonderful meal ! We had a beach hut style booth which was great as we felt we weren’t disturbing other tables with our noisy littles , Food was delicious , adults all enjoyed burgers and the kids meals … every plate was cleared !! Abigail served us and was very welcoming and checked back often to see if we needed anything. we will return again ! It’s not a weekend in the Port without a trip to Ramore restaurants but Coast is our favourite ! Our only suggestion is have more kids colouring in pencils as they were running low xxxx

Brilliant experience honestly, we had not booked a table so we didn’t expect a table but we had managed to get one the manager was very helpful and explained as how they had a lot of people booked. We were looked after very well by a young man called Harvey who was very attentive and stopped and asked us if we needed anything every time he passed. The food was also beautiful and highly recommend, please try this lovely restaurant.

We had booked a table for 11 people at 8.00pm (a family dinner). Some of us arrived at 7.50pm and we're told the table wasn't ready but to wait at the bar. We waited and the rest of our party arrived by about 8.05pm. Having stood around feeling like we were getting in the way for 40 minutes, we were finally shown to our table at 8.40pm. However when I say table it was a booth designed for a maximum of 7 persons, which 11 of us were expected to squeeze around. We were eventually given a second booth and our dinner party was subsequently split in half and we ate at separate tables. This was very disappointing as it was supposed to be a family reunion type of dinner and had we have known Coast can not actually sit 11 people together we would not have booked a table here. So an altogether fairly poor dining experience and it's needless to say....we won't be back to Coast. 👎

Absolutely fantastic! 3 adults and 3 grandchildren. All had amazing meals with fantastic service, especially from Harvey. Could not fault the evening at all. Grandchildren have been before and asked to go as we had not been, it was wonderful. Really reasonably priced too . Thank you Harvey.

Booked a table at the coast, was very disappointed to be seated at a bench which was looking over another table. This was so close that the men which were sat in-front of us turned round and could have a conversation with us, almost as if we were sat at their table. Whilst ordering food, myself with a peanut allergy was questioned on why our waiter had went to check with the kitchen about my order. This made me feel very uncomfortable and almost like an inconvenience when it was a simply allergy request. We ordered drinks with our waiter and patiently waited for 30 mins as we understood the place was busy. After our food arrive we asked the waiter where our drinks were as we still had not got them. The waiter said he would “double check”. He never returned to us. We started to receive looks from the bar but ignored them as we weren’t trying to be inconvenient. After asking for our drinks again we got informed that our drinks order had been thrown out because our waiter did not ask for id. The supervisor then came to us and check id(which was all valid) and never apologised for their mistakes. We finally got drinks AFTER our meal was finished. No cutlery was provided until we asked for it. Food was nice although hard to enjoy without drinks, cutlery, a proper table and no personal space. We watched other couples/families/groups of friends have to step over stools and push past people eating their food to get to their tables. The place was overcrowded. This resulted in very poor service. I will never be returning and not recommending to anyone as i’ve never felt so uncomfortable in a restaurant as I did tonight. A truly disappointing restaurant with so much potential.

We are great fans of the Ramore complex but have always shied away from Coast but tonight because it was the only place we could get at short notice we booked a table . What a surprise it was ! Service was good and the food was fresh and tasted great Will definitely be back

Ordered a takeaway. Ready on time (mid week) however not perfect. Pizzas hadn't been cut, sauce was missing from the house burger and french fries were pathetic for the price of them. Overall disappointing and wouldn't return.

We have been customers of the Ramore restaurants for over 20 years but this experience was simply shocking. We had booked a table for 9 people. On arrival we found out we had been given a booth and a bench in front which meant some people would be sitting with their backs to us. When we approached the booth we realised there was a huge rip in the tablecloth. There was also food all along the bench at the back. The waiter staff didn't seem to know what to do when we mentioned this. They said they would clean it. I asked for a new table cloth as this one was unhygienic as it had a large stained hole. Apparently, new ones have been ordered but aren't here yet. Another booth he and available but it was also stained with a huge rip. We spoke to a young waiter who was nice but didn't seem to know what to do. We ended up leaving and heading to the wine bar upstairs. We were able to get a table for 9 there. This would have been unheard of in previous years on a Friday night. There seemed to be a lack of a manager in both places. Food was ok but the fact you go to order at the bar and get your own cutlery whilst paying £18.95 for pasta seems insane. The food used to be reasonably priced which made up for the fact you basically served yourself. You could go to a much nicer restaurant with proper table service, nicer food and better staff. Overall a disappointing experience.

Delicious pasta pizzas chicken and tacos - lovely funky vibe about the place and reasonably priced staff very helpful and friendly and the mini desserts to die for

When we arrived we waited 30mins before being seated, despite plenty of free tables. Following this our server asked us to order but we informed her we were waiting for the rest of our party to come back from the bathroom. She seemed to mis-interpret what we were saying and became very abrupt stating we needed to order food to have drinks, even though we hadn’t mentioned drinking. The server was seen whispering to other members of staff and being very inattentive to the fact we had been seated for over 30minutes and our party was waiting to order. A different server then finally came (it appeared our original server passed us off) and took our food order. Following this our food arrived, was good, but the tacos were disappointing. We then waited 30mins before getting our drinks (which we ordered with our meal) and watched as numerous staff walked past our drinks that were sitting behind the bar. By the time we received our drinks most of the ice had melted into them. Staff were continually inattentive throughout and abrupt. There was no friendliness. We ordered a second round of drinks, and after another 30minute wait we decided to just get the bill. Stood for 10minutes being ignored by staff before I finally could pay, and even when I grabbed their attention to pay they gave the impression that this was a hassle. Just an overall poor experience and very disappointing.

The worst meal I’ve had. Myself and my partner went to the Tourist at about 5:30pm on Saturday. We were sat at the back of the restaurant with what I can only assume was a stag do. There was approximately 20 members of said stag do taking up all the booths in the back. Staff observed these men not adhering to any social distancing, standing uncomfortably close to other restaurant guests not in their party. They were shouting, singing and generally making others uncomfortable with there lack of social distancing and staff did nothing to address their behaviour despite being fully aware. The table we were sat at had not been cleaned. There was a long wait for food. We both ordered the tacos. 3 tacos with one piece of chicken the size of a birds eye chicken dipper in each filled with lettuce. No cutlery delivered. Ordered salt and chilli chips which turned out to be chips with mayo drizzled across the top and 3 slices of jalapeño chillis. This arrived about 10 minutes after our mains. The toilets were absolutely disgusting. Then to finish this horrendous experience we looked over to the kitchen and saw a member of staff walking on the kitchen counter top. Needless to say we stopped eating and left. Do not visit this restaurant. I can’t believe how bad it was. Disgraceful.

Last time we visited this place it was so bad I said I'd never be back but a year later and with the ability to book a table I thought we'd give it another chance. Table booked for 7pm and it was ready for us. The guy serving us was very pleasant, took our order promptly and checked later to see if we needed more drinks/if everything was ok/did we want desserts which was vast improvement on the previous time. I felt the food was overpriced (has definitely gone up considerably) considering side orders aren't included and you really need them as portions aren't massive. But it was tasty and all arrived together and drinks had arrived just beforehand. We took desserts home for later and they were all really good too. Now for the negatives, our table had not been cleaned properly, it was really sticky but the waiter cleaned it for us when I pointed this out. While eating we observed several young waiters behind the bar scrolling on their phones.An over enthusiastic waiter started to clear our plates while my 9 yr old was still finishing her meal...really bad manners.And finally....they really need to address the disgusting toilets. I went in and walked straight back out again, please sort this out Ramore!!!!Would I go back? Yes probably. But I'm not rushing. Plenty of other places with much better value for money and clean toilets.

First impressions were great, it was trendy, neat and tidy. However its a shame that the same can't be said for the service or food. Our server seemed ill-informed on ingredients in food items, nor did they seem experienced with dealing with customers with food allergies and or intolerances. We finally ordered and waited over 30 minutes for our drinks, which arrived after we had finished our starters and only after reminding the staff member who collected our plates that we were still waiting for them. For the first time in my life, I had to send food back to the kitchen as it was so far from what was described on the menu and by the waitress. Overall, the food was not worth the price and I would consider this to be an over priced bar that offers food as a bolt on, rather than the restaurant it claims to be.

Went with family group last Monday evening with booking for 7pm - place was very busy. Told to wait at bar until seats ready but not allowed or able to order drinks until we got to our seats. We got seats after waiting over half hour but still no drinks - had eaten starter before we eventually got drinks approx an hour after arriving! Some bar staff very inexperienced. Food good but experience ruined by service. Won't be returning or recommending!

Three of us were just traveling through this picturesque harbor town and wanted something light for lunch. We were seated promptly and greeted by the young lad server. I ordered us a bottle of South American Cab- Sav and 2 kinds of fried potatoes. While warming up with that stuff I ordered two kinds of tacos, which were delivered to the table instantly. All was hot and tasty, and we were happy to get out of the weather. The wine was a nice choice and quite economical.I found the toilet room to be clean and very adequate.

Good if you like tacos, burritos, pizza, burgers, beer, loud music and a good atmosphere (very much a younger persons restaurant). If you want to eat somewhere more peaceful this isnt the place for you. I'd have given it 4 stars, but the only major downside is the bathroom facilities, which are comparable to low standard night club loo's. Not nice at all.

One of my favourites. Great atmosphere, delicious food and fun cocktails at reasonable prices, makes this our no1 choice for an evening out. Recently they now have Ricky Lorimer play on a Sat night so it just got even better!

This restaurant is very well priced. The food is delicious, the service is excellent - I gave a four star rating because we had to wait a while to be asked our order. As it's first come first served, arrive earlier than you intend to get a table.

Quite a while since I ate here as since it changed its name the prices have risen dramatically. Food is still good but the other restaurants are as competitive now and serves equally as good dishes. Used to be a weekly regular but now prefer to do lunch in the ramore. I think it is better value.

Decided to try the tourist as id never been before and I’ve heard the food is nice, we arrived and got shown to our seats which were on stools and leaning over a bench facing into a bar in the middle, me and the person I had gone with couldn’t even sit beside each other as there simply wasn’t enough room, leaving a seat in between us. This and the fact the music is so loud meant barely any conversation as anytime any of us spoke we had to shout or repeat ourselves, honestly thought I was in a bar. I decided to try have a positive outlook and think to myself well it could be worse, maybe the food will be worth it. However, after ordering our drinks a young staff member was in the bar in front and was so blatantly obviously talking about me to another staff member as she was looking at me, walked over to the other boy staff member, said something and they both looked up at me after, the girl then continued to stare at me the rest of my time there, before I ate and while I was eating. Honestly I was so tempted to just walk out and go somewhere else but my partner convinced me to stay as we had already ordered our food. I will never be back again as I felt so uneasy and judged the whole time. Worst restaurant I’ve ever been in.

Came here for dinner with my wee girl and as usual it didn't disappoint. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere was great. The menu is so good and very reasonably priced. Will be back again!!

Good food and an upbeat atmosphere. Mixed crowd of families and couples. Menu had a nice variety of meal selections. Staff were friendly.

Did not need to book and 6 of us just walked in. Seated right away. Large area with high seats which we loved. Staff attentive and very busy. The place packed very quickly but it was Halloween night. We made a mistake in ordering starters. It was massive.! Great. The food was superb. And lots of it. Also presented in quite a imaginative way. I did use the toilets and the gents were industrial like. But clean so no problems there. For all that we got, the bill was more than reasonable. A good dinner.

I decided to visit The Tourist when myself and my sister were in Portrush for the evening. After reading some negative reviews, we were a little skeptical but decided to give it a go as the menu looked ideal. We were delighted that we had ignored such negative reviews as we were greeted with friendly,welcoming staff and seated in a great area with no booking needed. The starters were presented beautifully and we were glad we decided to share these as they were such large portions, as well as the mains. The cocktails were delicious and all food was served with excellent service. The atmosphere was pleasant and we enjoyed the experience as a whole ending with a very reasonable price. We will certainly return and will be recommending The Tourist to friends and family.

Not very impressed with The Tourist. Food was basic and not piping hot. Our waitress was young, inexperienced and inattentive. Had to ask for dessert menus and for coffees after our meal. Music is too loud for any conversation. The worst thing I’m afraid are the very very basic and downright stinking toilets. Smell of urine was disgusting. I refused to use and went outside and used neighbouring restaurant toilets. Would not recommend and definitely won’t be back.

A busy restaurant with a good menu for most tastes. The staff still were attentive and friendly during what I could only describe as 'a packed restaurant'. The service was quick, but you weren't made to feel rush, and the bill was reasonable.

Thoroughly enjoyed eating here, was initially pensive as had read other very disconcerting reviews which go totally against every experience I've had at the ramore complex. Seated very quickly not the estimated 30-45 mins. Quality and service were excellent as ever. Excellent value for money as usual and the staff despite their youth were professional and attentive at all times. Maybe George had a chat with them due to poor reviews but there was no evidence of lacklustre performance on our visit. Would absolutely go again.

This is not a restaurant, or at least doesn't serve restaurant quality food. The Pizza is the exact same thing you would get in a takeaway Pizzeria - fake peperoni, way too much cheese, thin and soggy. The "chips" were freezer burned, unpeeled and unseasoned - oven chips would have been better. The chicken goujons were obviously premade as well and were chewy. On the plus side, the nachos were really nice.

My cousin and I both got the chicken goujon burger with tobacco onions and pepper sauce, it was so tasty! Our waitress Bethany was so friendly and gave us great recommendations. Food was out 5 minutes after ordering and we were very happy with the service. Great atmosphere and will be back!

My family experienced very poor service within the tourist. We were told that we would have to wait for 30 minutes on a table and directed to a nearby pub. After 50 minutes, I approached staff to ascertain why we had to wait and stress that I had two very hungry sons (aged 2 and 5), however I was told to return to the pub and wait a further 15 minutes. When called after the 15 minute period I expressed annoyance that we had to wait over twice the length of time we were originally told, staff offered no apology and simply directed us to the bar within the the tourist where we waited a further 5 minutes before being seated at a table. On the whole the food was fairly good and arrived promptly, however the fajitas were a little bland and cold. Our family meal out was made frustrating and thoroughly unpleasant by the staff who were incredibly rude, unprofessional, unhelpful and clearly lacking any training. The management should be ashamed of the standard of service currently provided.
