Called in for breakfast before going for the train. This is a great little quirky cafe and does a lovely breakfast. It is really good value for money. The variety on the menu is amazing for such a small place. The food came promptly and was beautifully cooked. Well worth the visit.

Delicious meals in copious amounts and extremely cheap. The best value for money meals which I have had for years. Six of us had large lunches and drinks for less than £40. Absolutely amazing. These people deserve support.

Cosy cafe, bigger than it looks initially with steps up yo the side annexe. Stopped here for a coffee this time rather than Arkwrights and was pleased with it. Good coffee, good size, good price. Several people were coming specially for the breakfasts - sold in increasingly large sizes. Friendly service.

Having been past dozens of times we finally visited! Quirky, tiny cafe on the main road at Cromford. Limited seating inside but we were early so still got a seat before it got busy. I really like the decor with the blackboard menu sat on a bicycle frame, cute signs and mapped tablecovers. Breakfasts were really good as was the service and it set us up for the day. Had some delicious looking cakes on display as well. Didn't have room this time though! One disappointment though was the intriguing sounding 'secret garden terrace' up some steep steps. A few (rather grubby) tables and nothing else! Sooo much more could be made of this unique space with minimal effort! Overall a very good visit and we look forward to returning.

There were no tables available when we arrived but they reserved a table for us and told us to come back in 10 minutes. We've been before and knew that it's worth the wait. Lovely freshly cooked breakfasts catering for everyone. Toast and tea included . We paid extra for a strong filter coffee. Lunches look equally good. Wholesome quality food at great prices. And lovely staff.

A tiny eatery on a busy junction, the Tor Cafe is a wonderful little place. This is our second visit (the first was before the pandemic so a while ago). We had two breakfasts (one normal, the other veggie) and they were well cooked and very good value for money. Our one niggle was that the table was sticky and could have been wiped better but as we ate off plates and not the table there was no problem. We regularly visit Cromford and I am sure that we will visit again.

Characterful roadside stop-off (although parking is problematic) that always seems to have customers. A few tables outside for walkers and cyclists, otherwise a no-frills interior with two small rooms. Large bacon cob (good bacon, too) and a mug of tea for £3.50, served up quickly by friendly staff. What's not to like at that price?

We stopped here today for a light snack. The Tor cafe has an amazing menu, full of delightful things to choose from. The green vegetable soup was divine. The best soup I have had for a long time. My husband ate a vegan breakfast cob. It was delicious. The coffee was absolutely gorgeous. The staff were friendly and helpful. There is a little garden where herbs and vegetables are grown. We will definitely return here when we next visit Cromford. Thank you lovely people at the Tor cafe for our delicious meal and we will see you again soon.

Came across this cafe while walking with the dog. Sign on the blackboard says dogs welcome, so we came in for a breakfast. Once ordered, which was great value £10 for 2 breakfasts and 2 hot drinks, we sat upstairs. The place is so dirty, the cafe was quiet when we arrived, surely some basic cleaning could be done. Dirty condiment bottles, decanted from a larger pot, not dated, so you dont really know how long they had been there. You could also etch your name in the dirty table if you wanted too. Food arrived 15 minutes, didnt look that great but taste ok, hot and fresh, coffee not great,(cheap stuff) It could be such a beautiful place if only it was a little cleaner and watching the cook tip something into the drain out in the street wasnt a good look either. Once outside it looked like eggy water.

Two of us called by here on a cycling ride out. I’ve been to the Cromford Wharf Cafe in the past so this was my first visit here. Ok. It’s small. But less so than you’d think because there’s an upstairs part with a few tables there as well. Despite its diminutive environment the menu is proportionally inverse with a massive choice of stuff from snacks to brunch to lunch and all at excellent prices. When we called we timed it wrong. A large family in front of us were taking a while choosing their orders and the Staff realised there was only the two of us. So, whilst they were deciding what to have - our own orders of tea and tea cakes were efficiently prioritised and were served up five minutes after arrival. Impressive and effective. No complaints food wise. Yes the Tor Cafe is a bit pokey but that’s part of its character. It’s a well known cycling cafe with a long history of such. If I was to detract anything it would be that most of the past decor relating to such is now gone after the last sprucing up. That’s a pity and it would be nice to think it might be returned back to how it was on that front. However because the place itself is clean and tidy not to mention warm and cosy. Because the cuisine is very varied, cheap and served quickly. And because the staff are friendly and welcoming - it still ticks all the necessary requirements one would be expect and a wee bit more so for those reasons I have to fully recommend the Tor Cafe is given full marks and will certainly be calling again hopefully in the near future.

What a lovely little cafe. Having balked at paying over £12 for hot drinks at a nearby establishment and being turned away from another establishment we turned up at this one. We were made to feel very welcome. The pot of tea for 2 was enormous, the green tea was, well like green tea and the milkshake was made to order by hand. What with free wifi and a bill of £4.20 what was not to like.

If you want a fried breakfast then this is the place to go. It's not the best food you'll ever eat because, obviously, it's a cafe! What you will get is a good breakfast, a mug of tea and friendly service for a few quid. If a greasy breakfast isn't your thing then a decent bowl of soup costs about the same as a breakfast. We called in here for an impromptu evening meal with our 4 year old grandson as we were staying at nearby Landal Darwin Forest & he wanted the lasagne that Barringtons had on their Children’s Menu. We ordered our drinks & perused the menus, whereupon our Grandson decided he didn’t fancy it after all, nor anything else on the menu! In desperation, I asked the kind & patient gentleman taking our order (& everyone else’s) if he might be able to do a jacket potato with cheese & baked beans (not on the menu!) to which he replied cheerfully, “No problem!” we then ordered our own meals of scampi, peas & chips. The meals were served very quickly which, when you have a grouchy but hungry 4 year old, was extremely welcome! We soon polished off our tasty meals & drinks, paid the bill & were on our way. I just had to review to say how grateful we were to the lovely gentleman who looked after us so well that evening; over and above service & delicious food - what’s not to like!?
