Used to come to this chippy 25 years ago with my family on trips out. Came back for old times sake and wasn't disappointed. Really nice food at decent prices!

Asked for extra large chips for £3.90 I was expecting big bag of chips all I got was a tray overpriced for what I received won’t be going there again

Updated Review - Threw up all my food later that day. Seeing as this was the only place I ate that day and the next day I felt fine, I believe I got food Poisoning from them. Changing the rating to 1 star from 2. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Went with a friend. I got a chips and Gravy and he got a battered sausage and chips. The chips werent the best. Werent even very good to be honest. They tasted Burned all crunchy aswell as a greasy oily taste afterwards. The gravy was okay. Not bad gravy. If the chips were better then the food would have been salvageable. According to my friend the battered sausage was quite nice and was definitely the highlight of the meal. He didnt mind the chips so maybe I got unlucky. Will try again one day if I get the chance and will adjust my review accordingly. But for now I would recommend changing the Frying oil. Aswell as bathing the chips in salty water before hand so they're softer.

Popped in today. Had homemade steak pudding chips peas and gravy. Bargain price. Quality food. Highly recommended. Great service.

Absolutely disgusting food we all had fish and chips the fish was greasy the chips tasted like they were cooked in chicken fat obviously they do not change the fat in the fryer do not go

Just weird. Very greasy fish like it’s been fried in old oil, tiny piece of fish, not much in the batter. The chips were dripping with grease and not proper chippy chips. Everything was soggy, chips weren’t fluffy as you’d want them to be, was hoping for big chunks of fish and it was very minimal. Curry sauce had a horrible metallic taste to it. Not one we’d like to go back to again!!! Very overpriced for what you get.

Batty prices & the £5.40 fish was tiny. We'll never go there again.

Excellent service good quality food. They could not do enough for us. Even did us some scraps which they don't normally do. Would highly recommend. Will go back next time we are inn the area.

Award winning?!!! Can't have been for the food! Absolutely awful! We were staying round the corner and fancied a chippy tea. A number of chip shops on there, we chose this one cos it says award winning. Maybe was in 1967, plenty of others on the road, go elsewhere and enjoy them!

The worst fish and chips we've ever had even my two dogs wouldn't eat it so I would suggest that you go somewhere else.

The worst fish and chips we’ve ever had! Extremely small fish battered dripping with so much fat. The chips were shrivelled and disgusting. My son had a pie and he even said it was the worst pie he’s ever had in his life. Very disappointing. The mushy peas were alright though

This place is an utter disgrace. First, the two staff behind the counter were the two most disinterested and sullen peole I have ever encountered. Had pie and chips, the chips were undercooked and the pie had to be thrown away (obviously left too long in the warming cabinet and had gone hard). I have sent a report into the local council. AVOID!!!

Popped in on Sunday about 2 got 2 fish &chips went down to the pub to eat them and throw them away very greesy and uncooked did not return them as we are both bad on our legs worse I have had

The lady was rude, sarcastic when I’m coming back from work I cba I just wanted a large fish and chips and the lady said she doesn’t do em and then put the salt outside the box with the vinegar feel violated that 2 regular fish and chips with 2 cans costed £19.60 was very misleading aswell cause the prices on the board r cheap Plz don’t come here be happy when it’s gone!!!!!

Just been here on my way home from a shift at a hospital and paid £9.20 for meat and potato pie, chips a gravy! The pie was rock solid and filling was burnt around the inside as I'd ut had been there all day! So basically paid £9.20for chops n gravy as by the time I got home it would be shut if I went back! Guy serving had as much personality as someone who'd lost a tenner and found a penny! Definitely won't be back again. Best chippy my eye.

Had jumbo sausage and chips, chips were not cooked and tasted like cardboard sausage must have been in the counter for hours as it had a rock hard outerskin, best part was the gravy, never go again

Fish ok but hard, tasteless chips full of black and grey rotten bits. Tasteless peas, tasteless curry sauce. All served by a rather unfriendly chap. Overall a bit rubbish, won't be going back.

The best pies in the area, home made and really tasty. We always go here if we feel like pie and chips. We haven't tried the fish yet but we shall in the future .... If we can resist getting a pie 😄 I had meat and potato and my partner had steak and Kidney. Tasty pastry and not stodgy ... Yummy. Lovely staff too.

Wonderful. Couple of portions of chips ahead of walking the Illuminations. Best chips had in a long time. Crispy outside, tender inside, freshly cooked, well salted. Staff friendly and efficient. Have visited in past but this visit was a step above.

Just fancied chips and curry sauce for lunch it's a well known chipshop curry sauce had a delicious tang about it next time will try there homemade pies.

Called here whilst visiting the illuminations - we had got off the tram at Bispham and needed something warm on a cold evening. Service was quick, prices reasonable. Chips were lovely.

Very popular take away restaurant selling fish and chips and specialising in home made pies just off main front in of Blackpool illuminations. Interestingly we passed about 5 f&c takeaway's which were empty while this one was full which says a lot. Good sized fish. Very generous chip portions. I had the steak pudding with gravy which was delicious. My two friends had f&c which they loved. Staff friendly and welcoming. Limited parking outside. About 8 spaces. Target audience passing foot trade from attractions. Well worth a visit.

Very greasy fish left large pool of oil on paper. Chips were burnt, dry and tasted as though been heated up several times. Left most it. Worst fish n chips had for many years.

Called here on the way home with a friend, I must say the order wasn't right, and the chips were burnt and very crispy. The man who was doing everything on his own seemed a little stressed, and that's why I didn't go back and let him know about the order.

arrived on a coach trip out through the lights, stopped for a chippy tea first, ordered ahead but still had a wait, when the food arrived was fresh and hot, but, just an average meal, small tray of fish and chips, felt disappointed with the meal portion, it was tasty and as expected no salt / vinegar. would I go again, probably not, sorry

We've gone to this chippy after the illuminations for over 10 Years - never again! Ordered two sausage, chips and gravy with a can of pop each and it came to £21.40. The chips were half cooked, bits of raw potato and tasty gritty so went in the bin. Sausage was alright and the only edible part of the meal, really disappointed and will not be going here again.

Disappointed chips were half cooked ordered large portion and didn't get alot of chips. Attitude of staff was a little off aswell. Been before and was really good bit looks like standards have dropped.

First time trying this chippy and will be the last. the chips were average, the mushy peas were grey, the batter on the battered sausage was like cardboard and must have been sat there all day. The pies looked good but looks can be deceiving and we fed the bin a steak pie and a meat and potato pie. FISH - Upon entering the chippy you are asked if you want fish, I said I did and was asked what size so I asked for a large and that was accepted. moved along the counter to the person taking the orders and was asked what I was having, I said a large fish and fish and she replied they only do one size of fish and its regular. why ask if there's no choice? bizarre. The prices aren't too bad: regular fish XL chips steak pie jumbo sausage 2x battered sausage mush peas regular chips meat and potato pie home baked barmcake just under £30, but does the low price mean the food suffers? I'd say so.

There is nothing top about this place other than the top end prices. The worst chippy in Blackpool. They're just lucky to be in a thriving area of the illuminations so up their prices for that benefit. I binned my food the chips were over done and the battered sausage wasn't edible.

Lovely fish and chips before you go around the illuminations, well wreath the wait ( long queue) but not too be missed.

Run by Bispham kitchen so you know it's good. Always take some uncooked steak puddings home with me to the Midlands. Then freeze them.

Always come here when in Blackpool Best steak pudding by a mile Tonight we called in , and what a disappointment No plastic forks , just very tiny wooden ones Completely useless Stark puddings and chips and peas are normally in polystyrene boxes with lids and big portions Not tonight , a flimsy paper style tray that once filled with gravy was so flimsy , it’s was collapsing when held And trying to eat with the small wooden fork was a challenge Shame as the pies and puddings are great But prices gone up a lot and chips have more than halved in portions? Probably around 15 chips rather than the big portion you used to get time to find another chippy

Food just not worth buying which is a shame because we used to get steak pudding and chips regularly many years ago. The last time we had the steak pudding it was greasy and not much meat in it. We use Yorkshire fisheries in town now: might be more expensive but the quality is there.

The steak pie is the best I've ever tasted. It's full of succulent beef steak with no fat or gristle, delicious.

The girl behind the place was boss dead funny and nothing wrong with a sense of humour. Asked for curry and chips and she said chips and curry it's called banter. Food was sound and got sauce too for my missus cone so no issues here it's a top chippy from a Scouser.

Where do I start I went there I orders sausage and chips and a cheese and onion pie and chips and pot of gravey the chips were absolutely horrendous 😫 I was eaten the chips while I bit in to somthong hard when I looked it was a stone which cracked my back tooth the chips were freezing the gravey was tastless.. and charged me about more for sausage and chip and pasty and chip and pop of gravey come to 19.50 when I questioned her she said I ordered fish and chips and 2 lots of sausage and chips but I hadn't she took the un ordered items and said your done naw no refund nothing ill never recommend any one to go to this chip shop I have photos rwafy for the food hygiene to be contacted of tje state of my dinner and to stones in my chips

Waited 25 mins and they only served 3 customers so we left. Been my go to place for family fish and chips in Blackpool for many years but won't be bothering again.

Very poor, looks the biz and bold claims of best chippy in Blackpool but sadly on this occasion this couldn’t be farther from the truth. Service was slow this evening, although I think they forgot our order and served 5 other orders that arrived after us. Not too worry food would arrive forth with. Once we did get our order we took it straight up the front to eat. Greasy to the point one of the small haddock and chips was so bad the chips under the fish were dripping in fat and was left in-edible. Shame as the anticipation and bold claims set them up for a mighty fall. Gutted is an understatement we where late on and they closed shortly after us leaving so maybe just the last few orders and things had got a bit lax but we won’t be rushing back to try again.

How this chippy can claim it was voted blackpools best chippy I will never know. Chips was not cooked still hard in the middle and tasteless. Gravey just tasted like water Homemade Steak pie 🥧 I would start buying them in cold dry and tasteless. All for the bargain price of£12.70

Possibly the worst chippy I’ve ever been to. Chips had clearly been sat for ages. Greasiest fish and stale bread cake. Zero flavour. £25 + immediately thrown in the bin as I didn’t want me or my dogs to eat that.

Just ordered from hear. Threw it all in the bin. Old fat used, chips not cooked properly. Fish very greasy and steak not cooked. All went in bin. Won’t be using again. £30 down the drain. Young boy cooking food needs training. Had to then make tea coz grandchildren wouldn’t even eat it

We often come to top chippy and never really been disappointed, came in last night after a long shift I got charged £23.40 for haddock chips 2 jumbo sausages curry sauce and a drink should only come to £16.40 I have tried contacting them but never get a response, chips were also a funny colour!! (Green/black)

Okay so they said it was due to the season, but this is not the case for the chippy found in our extended family. So.. it was busy, nice sunny day, two young boys serving very polite and service was great. Although the lady from the back brought through a curry she had just made (chip shop curry so just powder and water) as they ran out before my order. Despite the poor boys every effort to make the visit pleasant the wait time for the blackened chips was ridiculous, the curry was nothing more than coloured water (my teens words) and the home made meat and potato pie needs some flavouring, maybe even just some salt and I'm pretty sure the pastry wasn't home made either definitely not as nice as advertised and if they did win chippy of the year a few years back they defo had different cook and routine. It's apparently connected to Bispham kitchens, the food is NOT. But then it's been a minute since I've visited there and it wasn't always a great service maybe the two should merge they'd have nice food with good service. Honestly I'd avoid.

It was 6.30pm not exactly closing time we had chips steak pie and curry and just chips and a tub of curry, The Good - Portion size £2.50 regular chips great value large portion, The Bad - "Re Fried old chips, I saw the lad putting them in a tray and nearly said give me my money back, but I didn't as he was only very young and he tilled the money in. I really hate old chips the curry was very thick and the pie was dried out, be better if they just closed rather than sell unfresh food. It may be okay around 5pm. Plus I agree what a previous reviewer said that you can taste the cooking oil and it has an unusual taste about it, just couldn't recognise what was odd about it. Better chippy's on the front, shame really as I said portion sizes were good.

I was the only customer at friday lunchtime, ordered chips and a barmcake, this took about 7 mins, salt and vinegar,but the salt was damp in the shaker and would not come out, the chips were hard inside and not cooked long enough. The price for this was £3.70, which for good quality would have been fine. My first and last visit.

We have been going to the Chippy and the Bispham Kitchen for more years than I can remember this was the worse fish and chips I have had from there.

Had two steak pudding chips one with peas the other with gravy. The chips where over cooked and awful. Gravy had no test. stay away and save your money on over priced food.

The fish was very tasty but lacked crunch. Very greesy as well and fooled ABIT by the price said fish and chips small £4..50 then said £5.20 regular fish. I assumed it would be with chips but I was wrong and paid extra for chips so ended up being more than I thought.

The worst fish and chips I’ve ever had. The server was quick to take the money for burnt chips, and an order he kept forgetting and still got wrong! They were half eaten meals that went in the bin. Ordered 2 small gravy and got 2 curry but couldn’t take it back, it would all have been cold and that was after he asked me twice what sauces I ordered. Dodge the place like it’s Covid, there’s chip shops a plenty within 5 minutes that don’t appear to have two 12 year olds running the place. Wished I’d had a cheese sandwich

Shocking Where do I start?? Service... spent more time looking out of the window than serving customers. Food... chips were all black greasy, the cooking oil used was well past its use by date £5 20 for a reg haddock.... seen more fish on a fish finger!! Avoid.

The only chippy in Blackpool we visit now. I love the fish and chips, but the rest of the family can't wait for the homemade Steak Puddings. Service can be a bit hit and miss.
