We stumbled upon this pub during a day out and decided to pop in for lunch. Surprisingly, it was quite empty, which is baffling given how tasty the food was! We opted for the tapas, and every dish was delicious. The staff were really friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. I would recommend this place based on my visit.

A group of nine of us arrived on Good Friday lunchtime (had booked for six). Staff very accommodating. We sat in the main bar area, which is very much still a traditional pub, distinct from the restaurant area. Nice range of beers and the Italian themed menu had a great range of smaller and full size plates. Most of us ordered several small plates and we agreed these were very good. Food was served promptly and service was good. We would recommend a visit and will be back next time we are in the area. Our view is this pub is offering something a little bit different food wise, and doing it well, whilst maintaining a proper pub with decent beer options.

Tasty, fresh food with great service. COVID restrictions meant we were sat outside but under cover in case of rain. Food is served in good quality takeaway boxes. Our meals all arrived piping hot and all 4 of us enjoyed our food very much. Been here 4 or 5 times now, looking forward to going back again!

Wow. Where do I start. On picking up the “food package” of my Sunday “roast” I did think about Marcus Rashfords appeal for the hungry kids.and how I can enjoy a full belly at the end of the night. I must of skipped the article in farmers weekly pricing potatoes the same as frankincense. I got back to my abode and went forth to plate up the delights of my “massively over priced gains!” To be met by three sheets of a rather chewy beef type card (could probably pass as vegan!) two roast potato’s which if carbondated would proceed the Big Bang. Three striped of carrot and more cabbage than an Eastern European could lift in a week! And then we get to the gravy. Unbeknown to be there is a fluid thinner than water. And they found it! It was that thin it would find its way between the notes in a Yorkshireman wallet. Will never go back here. Nice folk though. Lovely smile

Went to the quiz night and pre ordered the set menu of 5 chili con carne and one special order for a bowl of chips for a friend who doesn't like spicy food. We arrived to be told no chips available as the fryer had been switched off , so our friend had to make do with a bag of crisps. We had no apology, just a very defensive attitude. All in all a very poor experience. As locals, who really want the pub to survive, very disappointed!

Myself and 3 girlfriends went for lunch today. On entering the Tigers Head hand sanitizers were at the entrance along with clear arrow makers on the floor to keep safe distancing on entering and leaving the pub. When we were seated we didn’t have to wait long before staff approached and asked for our order. We each ordered the Sunday roast. Our meals arrived with a very good selection of vegetables along with a good portion of roast meat. The staff were attentive asking if everything was ok with our meal. Two of the group ordered a desert which was of a good portion size .Both courses were excellent I would definitely recommend eating at s The Tigers Head.

We recently payed a visit to The Tigers Head, after stumbling upon it by chance, during a brief stay in the area. On arrival, we were welcomed as you'd expect and shown to a table. Both myself and my wife opted for a 2 course meal. I had the ribeye steak, which was cooked perfectly and exactly as I'd requested, the chips I have to mention, were awesome. My wife had the lemon sole fillets, which she found extremely good. For dessert, we both opted for apple crumble and custard, again this not disappoint, and we finished our meals feeling full, happy and content. For drinks, I had a lager shandy, my wife had a house white wine, which were both pleasant and refreshing.Overall, I would without doubt recommend this charming pub. It has a lovely chilled atmosphere, the food was really good and we were made to feel welcome. We will certainly return next time we are in the area.

The moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome and their was a fine selection of ales and a small but well thought out wine list. I had fish and chips a pub classic and my partner had the salmon followed by a Brownie. Fantastic food and great service. More than worth a visit

Came with my husband, dog and baby for lunch after a walk in the forest. We weren’t expecting much, but we were just looking forward to some simple pub grub because we were so hungry. It was really awkwardly silent when we arrived, so perhaps a bit of background music needed when no one else is there (we actually found it quite funny).Husband had roast beef dinner which was ok, nothing to write home about but fairly well cooked although very bland (I ate his Yorkshire pud which was lovely!) I had fish and chips...When it came I was surprised at the thickness of the fish. It was more like a 2x3 inch block than your usual long thin battered cod fillet. The batter also looked very overcooked, it was dark brown rather than expected golden. It was quite clear when I cut into it that the fish was undercooked in the middle, it was slightly translucent, rubbery and not hot - so I sent it back before even trying any of my meal. Although they said they would do me another, the response was to tell me I was wrong, it was cooked because they had “stuck a thermometer in it and it came to temp”. Nope, it was undercooked without any doubt. When they brought me another one about 10 minutes later, it was the same again. The fish fillet was too thick, and although it wasn’t as undercooked as the first, it was still slightly under, whereas the batter was overcooked again. Too mortified to send it back again, I decided to just eat what I could, starting with the outer fish that was cooked. It tasted awful. As did the chips which were weirdly over cooked on the outside and almost hard and dry on the inside, like they had maybe been microwaved. The tartar sauce wasn’t to my taste at all and the peas tasted of sour bottled concentrated lemon juice. Or more accurately, like toilet cleaner. My husband thought I was being ridiculous and told me to just eat it and stop whinging. But then he tried it and couldn’t eat it either (we are not fussy eaters!). The batter and chips tasted really bad, as though the oil they were cooked in was old and the fish must have just been a cheap cut because it didn’t taste good and was also chewy, like it had been frozen then thawed? By this point, another table had arrived and so not wanting to make a scene, I went to the bar to say that I couldn’t eat it and wouldn’t be paying for it. The response is the only reason I am writing this review, else I could have gladly just let it go. But I was essentially told I was wrong because they “sell so many fish and chips and never get complaints” I was “just put off because I thought the first one was undercooked, it all tasted fine” and as for the peas...they are “bought in in a tin so they taste the same every time”. What an odd response to a very dissatisfied customer who is being polite about their complaint. There was no offer of an apology, or offer of something else instead, and the only reason it was taken off the bill is because I said I would not be paying for it. Weird place and awkward atmosphere, will not be returning.

Have enjoyed some excellent fish n chip takeaways ( though not always consistent and portion control odd) so decided to visit recently. The decor is a mishmash of old fashioned printed carpet bright lights (why?) and a giant picture of a tiger at the bar. Odd.Very limited menu - bar food probably its best offering. Prawn cocktail was good - smoked salmon arrived with dry bread no butter or other sauce ( dill / horseradish ?)Chicken breast dry a bit tough and overly dressed with a strong pesto - there was a risotto underneath but nothing survived the strong pesto so not sure of other flavours.Such a shame - they are working really hard and would like them to succeed but the food needs a serious overhaul.

We had 2 takeaways from here during lockdown and then nipped in for a quick drink just after the pubs reopened. When you order a take away roast dinner you would expect gravy and not to have to make your own when you get home after realising it either wasn't their or was extra. We thought we would give it another go for a lockdown take away, mistake! Friday fish we thought. Got the "cod" and chips back home. Using chips in the plural sense is just about right here, with the 8 chips received and the greasy battered SKIN ON COD!!! It would have been acceptable if the portion size of the cod made up for the lack of chips. It did not, think the size of a salmon fillet from a supermarket!! And what chef in their right mind would batter skin on cod. Just lazy. And as for the mushy peas and tartare sauce, it would seem like the portion control had been done in regards to WW2 rationing. What could only be described as a table spoon on Mushy peas and tartare sauce thrown in the tray. We ate it and then cooked our dinner for Saturday night on the friday. To add insult in injury, the fish was soggy, and the chips weren't cooked!!!The quick drink, and it really was a quick drink. If i had ordered a pint i would have sent it back. Country Northen pub, serving Youngs cask ale. Not a good start. I know 1/2 pints are harder to pull that a full pint but it could only be described as a millpond on top. Nary a head in sight. Thin and flat!!! Awful, just awful. There's more head on Henry the VIII 2nd wife.Wont be visiting any time soon.

Lovely old pub, nestled in a small village, however the food was disappointing. I know we are in a pandemic and certain rules have to be adhered to,but we were served our food in boxes with wooden knives and forks which broke when trying to cut through our steak. The bill came to £62.00 plus an few pence i can't actually remember the full price. the amount of food was very small certainly not worth the price. i glanced over in what was supposed to be a garden i saw the chefs sitting eating their food on crockery, so it was ok for staff to have plates etc but not the paying customers. Not happy at all. There was another couple who looked at us and said that they had had a meal the day before and they were not impressed. No doubt the manager /owner will come back and have his/her say and an answer for our experience.

Since lockdown we've missed going out for our regular Saturday night dinner. Our local, Tiger Head just been taken over, so not met new landlord but we had fish and chips on their first night doing takeaway. It was lovely. However, last night we had another, hubby steak and chips and I had Carbonara, which is just about my favourite dish EVER. In all honesty I was a bit dubious about how the Steak and especially Carbonara would "travel". Well, all I can say is WOW. I was not disappointed, it was delicious, perfectly cooked, hubby said his Steak was excellent too. They kindly delived because I still can't go out, and hubby is being careful, for my sake. It arrived on time and HOT. Will definitely have another and can't wait to visit proper when everything back to normal. Thanks for a FABULOUS SATURDAY LOCKDOWN TAKEAWAY.

Had been told it had been much improved and it has.Cant fault it really. Barman knew his job and we got served quickly although he was on his own and it was quite busy.We both ordered fish and chips. I got the big one thinking it would'nt be that big, but it is and its not just puffed out batter either. More importantly it tasted really good too. Partner had the smaller version, more than adequate and not significantly more expensive than a decent chippy take out. Chips were these semi potato covered type things which I'm not keen on but its the fish thats the thing so I'm willing to forgiveAll the food we saw being taken to other tables looked and smelled good. There was a little bit of a wait but thats OK as the fish had clearly been fresh cooked.Beer was excellent and there's a good range hand pulled and lager2 pints, a soft drink and excellent fish and chips cost a smidge over £30. These days that's brilliant value for top quality fodder, well impressedThe atmosphere of the pub is excellent as it is made up of a number of small(ish) rooms with plenty of space around the tables. Its clean and bright with decent decorIts lovely to be able to give a local pub a decent review and it just shows what can be done with some careful thought and effortObviously I'm not the only person who rates the place. We went on a tuesday which I would not thought of as being busy for most pubs. Sure, some of these were the old farts at the bar talking nonsense after work but there were a fair few eating as well

Went to the Tiger's Head on Friday 16th August. As usual the food was great. i had fish and chips, my partner had fish pie. Both dishes were tasty, good value and served hot. Crispy batter, flakey, creamy fish and lovely chips and mushy peas. Loads of fish inside the fish pie, which was accompanied by seasonal veg. All washed down by a tasty pint of Weetwood beer and a glass of crisp white wine. A lively, friendly atmosphere completed a near-perfect Friday evening couple of hours in the pub after a busy day.

It wasn't just the pies which were good.Having gone to the Tigers Head because another place was rather busy a few weeks ago, I wasn't disappointed. The food was really good, as was the service. Because of this, we returned on Friday and luckily they had a table free. I had the steak, Guinness and mushroom pie; it was a proper pie, not a bowl of something with a crust on top, a proper pie!, My wife had a steak, my son had a bacon cheese burger. Both of them said how good their meals were. The atmosphere was good, friendly staff who never stopped. The beers were not to my taste, that is NOT a criticism, they were not the type I prefer; they know what sells there.I hadn't been here for a meal for a couple of years, I have now been twice in a month. No me puedo quejar! !

Have used the village pub while visiting family in the village for the last 7/8 years, we often eat here. Great local pub. Good range of real ales and pleasant staff. The food is always excellent and very reasonably priced. I would highly recommend the pub for drinking or eating.

We visited her on Friday 21st April for lunch. We were just going to the beer garden to sit in the sun but sadly the weather changed and we went inside to be met by a member of staff who was lovely. She took our drinks order told us what the pie of the day was and the soup also. We both had the pie of the day as it was steak and guinness and who could refuse such a dish we had it with veg and chips and it was amazing. The steak was juicy tender and melted in the mouth. The whole dish was faultless. If you are walking in the area or at delamere visit here. They are even doggy friendly.

We visit this pub regularly and the food and service are always of the highest standard. Prices reasonable and some great evening offers. A fantastic "original" old pub thankfully left unadulterated by today's modern world.

Firstly we were stood at the bar waiting to be served. A local walked in some minutes after us and promptly got served. Perhaps we should have left then. Two of us opted for the 2 course Sunday lunch. Whilst the third person chose the extra large cod. The garlic and cheese bread starter was awful. I could imagine it being picked up out of aldi or a spar shop and sprinkled with grated cheese. When the extra large cod arrived our jaws dropped. It looked like it had been cooked in old fat and it certainly wasn't large. We decided not to stay for dessert as we didn't want to be be dissappoined. Our group eat out at different places once a month many we return to but certainly will not returning here.

Easily the best pub in the area. Every time we visit other pubs we are disappointed due to the high standard of The Tigers Head. High quality food and drinks at very reasonable prices. Can not recommend highly enough.

A real local proper English pub, the Tigers Head has it all. On Friday night, the place was packed but we had reserved a table and just soaked up the atmosphere. Great selection of beers, good menu with all the pub favourites plus some very nice specials. Service that made you feel part of the community and prices that won’t break the bank, you couldn’t ask for more.

Stumbled upon this little gem as I headed to a mates caravan for the evening. As I went in i was greeted by a pleasant couple that swiftly served me a fine pint of real ale (can't think which one now). Lovely little place and the menu seemed to cater for everybody

This was an organised dinner for about 30 in a part of the main dining room segregated for us on the night. Although we had ordered in advance there was some tweaking on the night not least for my wife who is a gluten free vegetarian. This 'challenge' was met brilliantly and all the food was superb, no mean feat for mass catering, not least all coming out together ad remaining hot without being overcooked. I have eaten 'pub food' here before and it is well worth considering for an evening out not least the home made pies. Good beer choice and reasonable wines so all in all a good night was had.

Enjoyed a very pleasant evening here with our group of 26. We have tried various places for our Christmas meals over the years and never been overly impressed by the fayre, value or service until now. With little effort on our part we provided names and choices to the Tigers a week before we had booked. The food was beautifully prepared, very fresh and HOT when it was delivered to the table. There was a good choice of starters, the roast turkey was very succulent, lots of fresh vege, roast potatoes, mash, gravy and decent fresh cranberry sauce. The desserts were great. The portion sizes were more than adequate. Staff were very attentive and helpful and the room had been decorated very festively. Very impressed by what the Tigers is offering. Also took a look at their regular menu, plenty of choices there.

Sounds like a great book title but instead is the name of one of the best burgers I have eaten, and the name of the lovely pub that serves it!!! I am a big fan of chilli dishes and hot chillies, and have recently come across some locals that produce excellent chilli sauces and dips (hope adverts are ok) Bongos rock n roll chillis. I got recommended by Debs (mrs Bongo) to come to the Tigers Head and try the chillimanjaro burger, which my son and I did. The pub is lovely, small, quiet, friendly with lovely real ales and the food is delightful and the chillimanjaro burgers are AMAZING!!!!! My son and I have eaten here a number of times....burgers everytime which are always cooked to perfection, though I have brought my wife and friends aswell, and the dishes they have had they have really enjoyed as the portion sizes are huge too and the Tigers is very competitively priced. All in all this is a lovely local pub where you are guaranteed a warm welcome, where kids and dogs are welcome, where the beer is grand and the food is delicious and plentiful.....oh and did I mention the Chillimanjaro Burger?!

Have ordered from here ( delivery )for months now and food always been delicious however the past two orders have been very disappointing ( both fish ) the batter on the fish was very overcooked . Maybe new staff but not up to their usual very high standards. Will continue to order for now but if this happens again will be going elsewhere
