Food , staff , the place and the atmosphere was lovely but unfortunately had to wait an hour for dinner did get an apology but it’s along to wait with elderly parents . We did book our table but granted they were very busy. The staff were lovely . The view over the marshes was amazing. The meals were huge very tasty and cooked properly not Wetherspoon standard . Definitely recommend this place . Definitely worth a visit.

Absolutely appalling food today Roast beef was just pure fat Asked waitress to take it back and replace for her to return with same food with just meat removed. She then went on to rearrange the cutlery on my plate then put it back on the table in front of me

Very disappointing. We were so looking forward to this Sunday roast dinner. Had not been here for several years. Beef totally inedible. Could not cut it with knife and could not chew any of it (that is both of us), the belly pork also inedible as it was so dry and over cooked.Green beans totally raw, roast potatoes were tasty but so soft they fell apart and were pale and not at all roasted(crispy).Yorkshire pudding looked good but had no taste needed seasoning. Gravy was nice, chicken nice, turkey tender. Other veg was OK but not amazing. We were given a 20%discount. Will not visit again.

Wow. A quick visit to see daughter at Liverpool Uni and popped over to the Wirral for a coastal walk in the spring sunshine. Never been to the area but completely lucked our by stopping at Parkgate at lunchtime. The Sunday lunch platter for 2, with a cheeky side of Bury black pudding on muffin with hollandaise sauce was brilliant. Great choice of beers, excellent service and a wonderful view over the estuary.

A great location to bring my 90 year old mother with limited mobility to. We sat in the conservatory and could admire the views across the marshes to the welsh mountains. The Boathouse Restaurant is very well established venue for dining out and partaking drinking a good selection of beers from the bar. Situated on the front at Parkgate, with fine views overlooking the River Dee and North-Wales coast. Always well worth a visit to enjoy fine dining and a relaxing atmosphere. Go there when you really want to unwind. Party bookings are catered for. Staff are friendly and courteous. Recommended.

Visited for Sunday lunch with elderly parents. Very busy so wasn't expecting the food to be up to much but wow...we're we pleasantly surprised. When it hit the table each of the plates..dad's half chicken, mums beef, and mine n friends roast turkey all looked delicious...great selection of beautifully cooked veg on the plate including roasties as good as mine!!! No airfryers here... very generous portions including the meat..i noticed people leaving with foil packs...us too as dad could have feasted for a week on his chicken portion...lovely...only one complaint...we just had to squeeze in one of the desserts on offer and left STUFFED..highly recommend the marmalade& whisky bread n butter pudding i shared with dad with intention of taking only 1 spoonful...will most definitely make a return 2 hour round trip journey...

Overall decidedly average, steak was awful and stringy. Fish and chip okay. Waitress compensated my friend with a pudding for steak but food was not as good as previously and I think manager should have come over, not leave it to junior member of the team, who was clearly trying her best. Service was fine.

Well l am very regretful to review this we had Christmas day lunch and after experiencing such a lovely Sunday lunch we decided to book for Christmas day, l was surprised to find how awful the table was dressed and we where at the back of the conservatory which felt like we where in a cafe no piped Christmas music the food itself was okay but very sadly lacking in portion size l literally got 2 roast potatoes and would of expected maybe mash or new potatoes and 3 sprouts (not joking)on my plate tiny spoonful of mashed carrot and turnip, would of thought as it was a Christmas dinner it would of been a bit special, but was just very cafe experience, not anywhere £84.00per head worth it l do understand the cost of overheads but just wasn't very good l'm afraid to say.

Went with my aunty for lunch today. I ordered the mixed grill, with the steak cooked rare. After a long wait, the food arrived. The chicken on my meal was cold, and the steak was cooked medium. I returned the meal. My aunty had finished eating by the time my replacement meal arrived. This time, the steak was brown throughout. I lost the will to ask for something else. The bill was cancelled and we left. What a waste of an afternoon.

Went here today. Order the mushroom starter was very nice. Mistake I made was the steak and ale pie. The lid was undercooked and slimey underneath and no pastry to the underside is it a pie? My opinion no. Inside resembled more of a stew that wasn't seasoned very well. The mash was dry and tasteless. And although it says tenderstem brocoli you actually just get brocoli. What was worse still on a terrible table after food served no follow up to check quality so had no chance to explain the gripes. And after meal my friend who paid as i have just done her a favour was told the price but no thank you or even eye contact. So terrible experience nice starter pie I would suggest you swerve and bar staff no tip not a large suprise there

Been two weekends on the run. The very best speedy service, never had to wait too long for a team member, food or drink. Had the roast sharer both times and it was excellent. Not a criticism at all but in hindsight, the duo of meats would be better as we ended up taking the half chicken away with us both times as there's already plenty to share. We had been walking from Neston to Heswall and this was the ideal stop for lunch as I know it very well as I've been coming here for many years and always enjoyed the food and drink here. This pub has a large advantage over all the other pubs in Parkgate as it's built on the seawall side of the road so the stunning views across the marshes to North Wales are completely uninterrupted. You get a choice of menus when you get there, there's the large main menu and the smaller lunch menu that represents very good value for money. Today on the lunch menu I tried out the Pate for Starters and the seafood basket for mains. Both are recommended. They also had a good selection of beers and ales. Service was excellent as always. There is plenty of space in the carpark opposite, but remember to type in your registration number at the bar

We visited on Tuesday for an early tea. Family of 5 2 adults and 3 children. Husband and I ordered from the price fixe menu. Husband ordered the ham and chips and I ordered the scampi but the chips served with these meals were cold and tasteless..my husbands ham was dry and not as described the menu described this as being treacle baked ham but was more mediocre thin piece of tasteless ham no flavour of treacle or sugar as described. For the Kids we ordered fish and chips and these were actually nice the kids meal was served with fries and much nicer than the chips served with the adult meals. As we ordered from price fixe menu I ordered a stater. my husband asked to order dessert following his main and was given al a carte menus to choose from. The bill came and we were charged for the dessert which wasn’t part of price fixe menu this wasn’t clearly communicated when we finished our mains and my husband ordered his and kids dessert. When the bill arrived I questioned this there was ‘nothing’ they could do about it. I think it was unfortunate case of communication between staff but no apology or refund for the crumble dessert which was £7.95. I e-mailed the venue about our experience and was told a refund for the dessert could not be actioned as we paid for the kids food and price fixe meal before the food arrived. We paid for the food before as we were invited to do so when we placed the order. Think this is a poor excuse to rectify a miscommunication/error. Disappointing meal..lovely view shame about the food and management.

The location overlooking the estuary persuaded us to have an evening meal at the boathouse. Unfortunately the seam bream was over cooked and therefore dry whilst the risotto was over cooked and soggy.
