Having a child with SEN needs makes you judge places like this in a vastly different way. With 3 children to navigate around a popular children’s destination as a lot of families do, it’s crucial and very considerate of the location to offer some support/adaptations to the experience to make it inclusive to all parents and children. My eldest son of 6 has complicated genetic issues and strong autism characteristics. Sadly cheshire ice cream farm failed on this miserably. There were zero provisions for autistic children or children with differing issues. Small things like being able to go on rides without queuing for half an hour which is impossible for my son and a lot of similar children makes the experience better for all. In other parks around the world this is widely accepted as we’ve experienced and most other parents are generally understanding. Whether we were queuing for rides or snacks and ice cream, it was hugely stressful for my son who doesn’t understand we have to queue. No staff of parents offered to let us go first and it became increasingly stressful and we felt like a hindrance rather than being welcomed and able to relax and enjoy the facilities like everyone else. The arcade area of the restaurant that my son would have enjoyed to calm him down was up some stairs which would have limited access for any wheelchair bound children wanting to use this facility. It was also years 7 and under. To which we were told because my son was 6 he would have to leave immediately. And as the room was a welcome rest item for him this only added to the stress for us as he wanted to stay and play for 5 minutes. Safe to say we won’t be returning to Cheshire ice cream farm anytime soon and urge any other parents of SEN children to do the same.

Visited the other week whilst passing through, i’m not usually a huge ice cream fan but was recommended the apple crumble flavour by Stacey (girl behind counter) and it was 10/10. She was very informative on the menu and gave really friendly service. Lovely little place to grab some ice cream on a warm day :)

We visited with our 2 year old granddaughter last weekend. We paid £2.50 each to go in, they charged the same price for our 2 year old. Other activities she wanted to try were the soft play area (£4.50), and the sand and water canyon (£4.50). The £4.50 charges are for the child only, accompanying adults are free. Refreshments were expensive e.g. £5 for a fruit shoot and a biscuit (she dropped the biscuit ! ) . Icecream's' are £3.75 for a single scoop. Finally on our way out you have to walk through a toy shop! All in all it is a good day out but not if you are on a budget.

Highly recommend visiting we visited whilst on holiday and it was a fantastic day out. Both our children age 5 & 1.5 thoroughly enjoyed it plenty to do for both age groups. Very good value for money. Two options if you just want to do the play park then you can this is included in the entry fee or if you do want rides / activities you can pay for these. The ice cream parlour is amazing every possible flavour you can imagine. It was a great day out for all ages. Even though it was busy it's really big and didn't feel busy. Plenty of parking, toilets etc.

I came here just after my shop on a sunny afternoon, to my disappointment there was a hair in my cheesecake, when asking politely about possibly changing or a refund I got told no one ever asks for refunds and it looks like I’ve put my own hair in the cheesecake which was ridiculous to even assume with the hair being stuck in the shortbread part of the cheesecake. I am honestly quite furious about the remark as I’d never do such thing working in a customer service experience and knowing that mistakes can happen but apparently in there business a mistake isn’t possible🤷🏻‍♂️

It’s many years since we were here, but we enjoyed our quick visit, just to buy some ice cream. It’s changed in so much that it is now a children’s play park with plenty of attraction. The outside play area was very busy with young Pre school children. There are now admission charges, but not for the two of us as all we wanted was to purchase Ice cream and leave? A terrific choice of over 40 flavours including vegan options. A choice of different cones or different sized tubs, plenty of additions to have with them makes for an enjoyable treat. My choice was two scoops, a Raspberry Ripple and choc Ripple Cookie Dough which we ate in the ice cream parlour. Delicious !

So good. Love Cheshire Oaks, so visiting with my family I got my 6-year-old son a little creamy treat!! HE LOVED IT DOUBTLESS TO SAY! he had a tub with bubblegum and the staff were excellent, letting him have half raspberry sauce and half bubblegum. I was so pleased with the customer service that I got myself a double tub of vegan coconut! Very delicious, friendly staff, great ice cream!

TLDR: used to be a good value fun day out (albeit often very busy), it's now pretty expensive. Book ahead as you now have to pay for entry. Only play pass option now £15 for 5 plays. Most play areas have a 30 minute time limit. Toilets dirty. Food at the restaurant quite good but very expensive, not great for dietary restrictions. ***Review for the Cheshire Ice Cream Farm in Tattenhall- not Cheshire Oaks. *** The address (as per their website) should be: The Ice Cream Farm Newton LaneTattenhall Chester Cheshire CH3 9NE I would like to start by saying that we live less than an hour away and we have been coming for years. Entry to the site used to be free. Then Covid happened, they had to keep an eye on number of visitors, so they started selling 'access passes'. These are not the same thing as play passes. You have to actually pay to get in, often book in advance as the access slots are limited on each given day. I can appreciate the need for this during Covid, you don't want the place too crowded, absolutely. Though I'm getting a feeling that this is now here to stay, after all they make money out of it... We'll see, if there ever is a 'post- Covid' I guess. If you've never been before, the site has a farm with animals (free to access once inside), a lovely outdoor play area which is also free and ice cream shops with a great selection of ice creams. There are also play areas for children, some are very nice. You need to pay to access most of these attractions and the farm sells a 'play pass'. At the time of writing this (January 2022) the only play pass on sale is for £15 and it gives 5 plays- so at a cost of £3 per play. You don't have to get a pass and can 'pay as you go' but plays are a lot more money that way. At busier times, ie. week-ends etc, you can only stay in any one play area for up to 30 minutes. So £3 per child per 30 minutes... Well, you're free to judge the value for money on that for yourself. The farm used to sell a selection of play passes, like a £40 one with 20 plays and a VIP one for £100 that cost £100 but they used to have a sale in January when this was £50. So the cost of plays is now up to 6x more than it was (or 9x without a play pass). This means that you used to be able to get in and possibly spend a quid or two for a few hours' play, now you have to spend 6 times that PLUS your entry fee. It's still busy because people like myself still have old play passes that are being used, which the farm is still honouring, by the way. But once those old passes start running out and more frequent visitors realise how much the cost has spiralled, I honestly think that the demographic will change. Which is a shame. I guess they have to make their money somehow. As for the areas themselves, the set up, like I mentioned, is generally nice. My kids are big fans of the sand and water play, a large indoor activity area with lots of cool contraptions to move water and sand around. A good one for all ages, just bring a towel and weatherproofs or swimming costumes in Summer. The soft play area is in the building where the restaurant and main toilets are. Although the design itself is nice (also has a toddler area) as we know, soft plays are only as good as the people in there. When we went it was incredibly busy. Staff used to take your shoes and store them, this is no longer the case so I struggled to find somewhere to sit as many seats were occupied by people's coats and shoes (yes, ON the seat!) with nobody in sight. For way longer than the 30 minutes you're technically allowed to stay. My 6 year old got bitten by a smaller kid whose parents were nowhere to be seen and not supervising them, so we made a quick escape. Not really the farm's fault of course, but they could do with restricting numbers and maybe policing the seating areas and time people spend in there a bit better. There are other really fun attractions like the crazy golf, which is in a really lovely setting, the 'marshmallow mound' that my kids seem to love, though this is exceptionally expensive IMO as you don't even get 30 minutes, more like 10, so £6 for 2 kids to jump on an inflatable hill for 10 minutes is a hard no for me. Go karts are just £1 per go so quite good value, but I'll caveat that we didn't go there on this occasion so I'm not 100% sure this is still the case. Now for the restaurant. It's always been busy and this time was no exception, so we went early, just before 12 to stand a chance to get a table. The new arrangements are a bit confusing as you now have to queue from the one entrance to be given a tablet that allows you to order food and drinks. This is a bit odd when like us you are entering from the soft play area. You order food on the tablet and the order goes straight to the kitchen. The note at the door said there was a 25 minute wait for food, we waited an hour. I had been warned that the menu has changed and in all fairness the food options were largely good, the food great quality (excellent pancakes). But there is absolutely no way of amending any options, no allergen information and very limited vegan options. There is a 'veggie' section but most things in there have dairy. The portions are 'tapas' style. So for the fish fingers you get literally 3 fish fingers with a dip, if you want chips that's a separate dish, if you want veg that's separate again. So it will cost you about a tenner for a kid's portion of fish fingers with chips and peas. Hot and cold drinks are 'bottomless' at £3 a pop but if you only want one cup of tea that's a bit eye watering, price wise. A carton of coconut water was also £3. I know there are vending machines for hot drinks in many play areas, but those are no good for milk/ dairy allergy sufferers. So in short, the food is nice if you have no dietary restrictions and are willing to wait and spend an eye watering amount on it. Inevitably there will be people who only buy drinks and bring their own food occupying the very busy seating area, so I wonder how they will deal with that. Would I recommend it? Depends. If you're able to go at a less busy time, use an old play pass and bring your own food yeah absolutely go for it. But if you're going at a busier time, without a play pass and to eat there, be prepared to remortgage your home. It's a shame as for us it used to be a nice place to pop in to when we had no plans and fancied an ice cream, but I can see that this is now going to turn into a bit more of an occasional visit when we can afford it.

A few years ago, they mainly made good ice cream. Then they started selling more toys, and building… stuff. Now, it’s a ghastly, characterless, poorly designed and utterly soulless money pit centred around a playground full of screaming children and a gift shop piled high with plastic tat. If you came to dump your children in a playground and buy them toy guns and plastic dinosaurs, you came to the right place. If you can fight your way through all of that, you may or may not find some ice cream. They were out of all the flavours I asked for so I left with a tub of overpriced vanilla.

This was an end of half term special treat day for the kids, 7yrs and 4 yrs. It was a great day out and well worth the cost. The fee to get in is minimal in the grand scheme of things and ensures that the business can continue and people don't just use the free bits and get ice cream. We also paid for play passes which we topped up on the day to ensure we could all play on a few things. One unexpected recommendation is the Gemstone Cove. We all enjoyed panning for gems and sifting the sand to find the precious stones. We got quite a few too which was unexpected!! We also enjoyed Marshmallow Mountain, the Land Rover Defenders as well as SilverCone, the golf and the mini diggers. We booked a slot starting at 10am and would recommend an early time if you can get there. It was less busy and once inside booking for the activities also meant that queuing was minimal. For lunch we used Sticky Paws Restaurant. Not the cheapest but a good variety of kid friendly 'tapas' style dishes. Finished the day with an ice cream which was delicious!! The recommendations are Millionaires Shortbread, Raspberry/White Chocolate/Oreo, Bubblegum and normal chocolate. Overall a fun day, not the cheapest but if you want a budget day out then don't book here. Otherwise it is well worth it!!

We even managed a round of golf a very wet round of golf but we didn’t mind the rain. I have to say I like the new queuing system, this is the second time we’ve been and have never had a problem getting into any of the attractions and you know it’s not going to be overly busy. I also don’t mind the new booking system even with the charge as again you know it’s not going to be ram packed! See you soon we will definitely be back soon!

Pay to enter, pay to do any activities, surprised they don’t charge you for the toilet. If you don’t get a play pass (which isn’t well explained on the website) then it’s £4.50 each for each activity which are all short lived and because it’s so busy you’re rushed around. The ice cream is a total rip off £3 for a single scoop which didn’t even taste of the flavour it was meant to- mango tasted like vanilla and brownie was like cheap chocolate. If you’re looking for something in Cheshire with play area, ice cream and animals Wheelock Hall Farm is much better and a lot cheaper.

We enjoyed a fun day out with our children and friends. We had a pre paid pass which allowed us to use our stamps for each of the activities. Even though it was a cold day there was still plenty to do inside. The children enjoyed the fun park outside with a slide, round about, hills and small trampolines as well as sweet little toadstool house. We played a round of crazy golf, followed but a bounce on the marshmallow pillow inflatable. The children enjoyed the gemstone attraction using a sieve in water to find gems.Once our hands were suitable frozen we went inside to the arcades which was was again included in the pass. At this point we took the opportunity to buy some food from the cafe and take it up to the loft area, which was nice and chilled in contrast to the cafe. I had a wrap which came with salad and coleslaw which was £5.95. Children’s meals were the usual pizza and chips, nuggets and chips which were also 5.95. There is also a soft play area which had a very big queue most probably due to it being half term. Also available was an inside sand and water play and outside motor car/ bikes in a track. We finished the day with an ice cream price started at £2.70. The choice of ice creams are huge, it takes time to choose one with such variety!Altogether a fun day especially if you take advantage of the half price fun pass in December.

This place is superb. We visited on a Thursday morning. It opens at 10, we got there at quarter past and the car park was already filling up. Our 2 year old was napping so we went straight for ice cream with no queue or fuss. The place is fabulous. It's free to get in and see the animals and play at the park other activities are payable (£1 up to £4.50 I think). They ask you do not take a picnic as revenue is generated by food sales and keeps entrance free. We were happy with that and food prices were reasonable, it was just such a shame so many others didn't agree. We took our boy into the sand and water play which he absolutely loved. If we were local we would be returning very soon. Loads of toilets and seating. Overall a really well thought out place for families. You could spend a whole day here easy.
