Great welcome on entering the pub right thru to saying goodnight . Rachel and the other staff were amazing as soon as we set foot in the place at 5p.m. Great food , drink and atmosphere , the locals obviously love it too . Met up with some family later after eating and were also made to feel welcome and had a great laugh .

Arrived when it was very quiet. Staff attentive. Placed an order for two identical meals. Waitress returned only one available. Reordered. Slow delivery. Food was edible but presentation wanting. Ordered coffee which stood on bar some time.Asked if required sugar "No thankyou" Sugar placed on table! Asked for Bill which arrived with service charge. Advised waitress that we would have given a larger tip if it had not been paid. We feel that a small amount of acumen could get things back on track.

Surpassed expectations! It’s rare that we stay in one location whilst travelling just because the food is excellent, on this occasion we did. Our meal, service and experience at the Three Tuns was sooo good our onward plans were changed. The Scallops in Pernod butter sauce starter was sublime, so too the catch of the day 🐟 followed by α superb cheese 🧀 board. I tried a couple of the real ales, both were top notch. Steve and the team provide a great rural ambiance in this quaint extended thatched cottage.

Visited the three tuns on Sunday 6th April for dinner. We were welcomed to our table by Lucas who took our drinks order and allowed us to take our time choosing from the menu. We both ordered a Sunday roast ( beef) which was excellent. We had already had an excellent cauliflower soup for starter. The food was very well cooked and came to us piping hot. The portions were enormous with a generous helping of seasonal vegetables on the side. The service could not be faulted( especially Lucas ) and all the team made us feel very welcome. The three runs is an excellent pub for dinner and a drink. When we are next in the area we will definitely visit again.

Visited for a few drinks and dinner leave afternoon and early evening yesterday and was happily surprised👍. The pub is very cozy and inviting with plenty of inside and outside seating 👍. We sat outside in the back garden as the weather was warm and sunny and enjoyed the ambience being in the midst of beautiful countryside and both our meals we chose the lamb main and the pork belly were well cooked with fresh ingredient's and well presented and delicious 👍. The only thing was the prices aren’t cheap at nearly £50 for 2 main courses but I guess it is the same at most decent pubs you go to nowadays if you want freshly cooked food👍. Staff were friendly and accommodating and worked very hard 👍. We would highly recommend this pub for dinner and would definitely visit again 👍. Thank you!

Spent Mother’s Day here today, Really disappointing. The food was very poor, the roast potatoes were soft on the skins but dry on the inside of the potato, they had clearly been pre cooked for too long, the Yorkshire puddings were basically burnt, virtually black and very unpleasant.. My Dad had the Lamb but it was difficult to know that it was lamb as it so over cooked. The only thing that was cooked well was the beef, that was fine. The Gravy was also fine. Overall really disappointed, then to finish it all off we had to ask for the bill to be looked at, as we had been over charged for ice cream by £7.50 The waitress acknowledged that it was a default on the till machine that they are aware of, so it’s a shame this was not rectified before we received the bill. I wonder if they just had to many covers for the lunchtime and unfortunately the quality of the food suffered. We paid £150.00 for 4 people for a 2 course lunch and 3 drinks. If it had been a quality meal we would have been more than happy with the cost, but unfortunately it was poor and quite simply not worth the money. Shame.

My family and I came here on a busy Friday evening, the service we received by the lady who appeared to be the manager or shift leader, was outstanding. Very welcoming, friendly and with a sense of humour to boot! We were very well looked after. I had the twice baked cheese soufflé to start, sweet potato and cashew curry for main and rhubarb with custard for dessert. All courses were excellent, so compliments to the kitchen team. I highly recommend this place!

Went for a walk in the New Forest and came across this lovely pub when looking for somewhere to stop for lunch that let's dogs in. Really friendly staff and great atmosphere. No problem getting a table as a walk-in, and we could sit comfortably in the bar area with our dog. Great choice of food on the menu, and all reasonably priced, too. Went for the burger, which was massive and tasted so fresh, homemade, and really rich and meaty. The staff also didn't mind us giving our dog a treat as we ate our lunch, and there were also complimentary dog treats at the bar. The deserts looked too good to miss, and we opted for the aquafaba lemon meringue (our first time trying aquafaba meringue!) and the melt-in-the-middle chocolate pudding with ice cream. Both deserts were morish, and definitely hit the spot after a fantastic meal. We will definitely be back when next in the New Forest!

I only dedicate good time on here to writing complimentary reviews of lovely places, or I waste my precious time on here giving reviews of bad places. I have eaten here numerous times over the years, always excellent, lastly approximately 6 months ago. Tonight was by far the worst meal I’ve experienced here ever, and for that matter in terms of quality and value for money, the worst meal I’ve experienced in recent times anywhere. Beef carpaccio starter - minuscule. Ham hock terrine - a dry slab of it with some leaves… Venison loin - dry and over cooked, with crispy kale that wasn’t. Chicken escalope - dry, no moisture anywhere on the plate. Two of our party wanted fish and chips. But on a Saturday night they’d sold out. Really?? Yes - we provided feedback to the staff throughout the evening, but they didn’t seem to give a… wotsit. And then you applied a 10% service charge to the bill………????! If you think we will ever come back, you are sadly mistaken. Awful.

Having seen a huge ad in the local paper we decided it sounded good so booked .! Wow ! how wrong were we The pub felt cold , a shame as they had a fire not lit in the main bar / restaurant area and wasn’t lit . it was only 2 degrees outside so very cold . not welcoming at all . we were so very disappointed with the Sunday lunch we were looking forward to as a treat! The meal was lukewarm the yorkshire puddings were burnt & completely dried out .The beef was nice but nothing was hot and potatoes were hard and not crispy at all . The gravy was so thick and gloopy ! very substandard meal The dessert was just ok . This meal 2 courses with one drink each came to £80 an absolute rip off Hugely overpriced and not even good . that price it should be a stunning meal ! My advice would be Three Tuns to seriously look into your chef. If Sunday lunches are like that and you advertising like you have , you will lose custom without doubt ! No point in complaining at the time as nothing would have improved & it spoils the event Very dissatisfied & disappointed with such a poor Sunday Lunch !

We arranged to meet up with friends for a New Years Eve lunch and booked well in advance. The staff were polite and friendly but most of the menu was not available and the meal was very disappointing. With two vegetarians in the party there was very little choice other than fish and chips or a very lack lustre tagliatelle with tomato sauce both of which do not constitute a celebratory meal We left feeling that we had paid a lot of money for poor food that we would never have normally chosen. While I understand that that lunch is not the focus of New Years Eve, I feel that we should have been warned in advance that the menu was very limited so that we could have booked elsewhere or perhaps the pub should not have been open and offering food. Either way it doses not reflect well on customer service and we won’t be returning in the near future.

We travel from London to visit family and have enjoyed previous meals at The Three Tuns. Unfortunately today's experience was horrible. We hoped to enjoy a pre Christmas meal but we were placed in the small bar area at the rear of the pub that seemed to be the shortcut to the carpark. Table was beer stained and not laid. Cutlery came out as an afterthought. Food was not as good as previous occasions. All in all not a great occasion. Its a shame to see how badly standards have slipped.

Good table service, friendly helpful staff. Had the Christmas menu, starter of smoked salmon was very tasty but main course of turkey and the beef was a little bland needed more seasoning, plenty of potatoes and good selection of hot fresh veg. 1 = poor 10 = excellent Welcome 6 Atmosphere 8 Cleanliness 5 Speed of serve 8 Attentiveness 6 Food quality 6 Value for money 3 Drinks 7 Friendly enough welcome, the albeit seemed they were not ready for service on time. I ordered the ribeye steak medium, the other dish was sea bass, with dauphinoise. The food arrived in good time, hot and plenty of it. The veg cooked to perfection with a slight crunch, the chips pre-salted not sure about that and straight out of a freezer (why waste time making them), albeit I’m sure McDonald serve the same ones! The sea bass tasted fresh and had a very delicate balance of flavours and reasonably presented. Dauphinoise, poorly done and not well presented, looked like microwave mash, mostly bland (I make way better). The steak was rare (not medium), not rested and slightly tough in places. However and was seasoned well and had a really good flavour. No wine offered to complement the meal. Desserts… Wow just wow, taste was great the perfect amount in richness to compliment a meal. Over all, as nice of a place this is, it is very over priced serving, basic pub food…

Visiting the area and went for a birthday treat as looked like something a bit special. Very disappointed. We were advised they were busy, although we had pre-booked, and bought olives to the table. 45min wait to order. 2 starters - french onion soup was 'watery' and no cheese crouton, bread board to share was fresh but did not taste of sundried tomato and bacon as advised. Long wait for mains - people arriving after us were getting their main courses - and what a disappointment. Dover Sole mushy and tasteless (returned), lamb cutlets not pink as promised with tasteless red win jus, duck breast edible but poor. 2.5 hours after table booking foraging for food in local co-op! Bill was significantly discounted, but for restaurant prices all food we had was a very poor standard.

Special mention to Rachel who went above & beyond even the highest standards of service and was superb with our children. Not my first visit but definitely the last. Why because although the quality of the food was good as was the service (our waitress was lovely), the quantity was mean. I'm not a big eater but my main course was not good value at £23. A sliver of albeit delicious cherry cheesecake for £9.50! Then service charge for 3 people. It was my friend's birthday, so I did not say anything as I didn't want to spoil the occasion. However, when I got home I felt that I'd been 'ripped off'. Noted that there are quite a few similar reviews & also no reply from this previously excellent establishment. Which I always think speaks volumes. In future I won't reply on past experiences & will read reviews for a fav pub which is no more for me! Such a shame.

We went out of our way to go somewhere decent (given these reviews) and it was awful. I brought it up at the end (no check back) and had to leave. I’m assuming the “chef” didn’t accept the steaks were raw because we had a couple drinks taken off the bill. Assuming the waitress was embarrassed and did what she could. £60 I’ll never see back. Just returned home. Really disappointed having been recommended by a friend recently….service poor, waitress surly & unfriendly, when we asked for black pepper she informed us you could only have that if you were in the main restaurant 🤷♀️, my husband walked through and got it himself 😡 there was no room so we sat in the bar area, ordered at the bar, including drinks halfway through our meal, despite paying the same prices as those sat in the actual restaurant area adjacent to where we sat…. quality of the food, what my son & husband had was average, very underwhelming. My dish was terrible, the seafood linguine, “ small odd bits of fish, two prawns” , some of the fish was so chewy ( including the squid/ octopus) I literally had to remove it from my mouth I couldn’t swallow it!! It was absolutely rank. No one approached us during our meal at any point to ask how it was/ was everything ok. Decided to leave before dessert/ coffee and complained when we went to pay the bill at the bar. They did reduce the bill slightly , but that was the least they could do. We are a professional couple, eat out regularly in quality restaurants and visited this place whilst staying in the area after recommendation. We will never go back, I’m just hoping I’m not ill later……..

Let’s hope no one decided to not drive to the event, choosing to cycle instead 😂 I can’t imagine they tell patrons who drive there that they cannot park in the car park! Other patrons were shocked and told me they found her behaviour very rude. I did not stay and buy a drink, instead I went to the much friendlier pub down the road, the Crown! Ordered food at 5pm then got a reserved sign put on our table and we were told they’d need the table back for 6pm! Wish we’d been told that before we ordered food as we would not have stuck around. Then the food came out, it was very poor for the price, I had the sea bass with sea food…basically pickled octopus out of a jar!!! My husband had the burger which was again very poor, coleslaw not even homemade! They had a wedding on which clearly took priority over other paying customers. I'm very surprised to see such positive reviews as I had completely the opposite experience. First of all we got a very surly welcome from a chap behind the bar who appeared to be the manager. We had just asked if they were open for food as we could see lots of wedding guests arriving so we weren't sure and he gave a short response and then proceeded to bark at us "drinks?" And when we asked about menus he rudely pointed and just said "there" and looked at us as if we had asked him something completely absurd. For me the food was distinctly average considering the price. I had a pulled pork sandwich and the pork was dry and chewy with a measly amount of apple sauce and what looked like supermarket coleslaw on the side. I understand that they may have been preparing for a busy day with a wedding but there is no need to treat paying customers like they are an inconvenience!

Visit here regularly and have never had a bad experience, however, this time we were not very impressed with the food and service was very slow... Table booked for 2 pm for 4 people, order taken for drinks. Then order for starters and mains taken. Starters arrived at 2.30 ish. Mains around 3.10. Roast duck was well overcooked..... Also, the plum sauce to accompany the duck was just ordinary gravy with a few plum pieces thrown in? When plates taken away at 3.30 ish we did mention about the duck. When asked if we would like the dessert menu, this was brought over eventually , staff took our order - (very disappointed that the sticky toffee pudding had run out !!!). We then waited for at least 45 minutes for two desserts to arrive but no two coffees which we had ordered with the desserts (obviously these had been forgotten when the waitress took the order) .... as when we had finished the desserts had to again ask the waitress for two coffees!!! Coffees finally appeared at 4.40. The venue was quite busy when we arrived but people were getting served in a reasonable time - but not in our case..... Of course we will have meals at the Three Tuns again, but maybe not on a Sunday!!!

As a vegan I struggle to find a restaurant that offers more than the usual unimaginative vegan burger and chips but at The Three Tuns I had three choices of highly imaginative dishes. I chose the roulade, which was sundried tomatoes and vegan mozzarella wrapped in ribbons of potato, served with a tasty salad (includingradish) and a balsamic glaze. Absolutely delicious!!

Now then. What a treat. We were out and about, 6 of us in 3 van converted campers. Weather was changeable. This beautiful pub was recommended as a place to grab some food and possibly stay at. We booked a table for 6 with 0 expectations. What a lovely surprise we got. Really really lovely staff, great atmosphere, and the food was amazing. It was bank holiday, busy! And its little touches like a waitress popping over, apologising for the delay on the food with some bread and olives. Its just getting rarer to find that kind of service these days. No one minds waiting when it's busy if they don't feel forgotten. We stayed in the carpark, and it was just really lovely. The carpark stays locked until around 10am...fine for us! But one to watch for if you are looking for an early start and away! Overall, highly recommended 👌 we will 100% be parting with more of our hard earned here in the future.

Had a fantastic meal again last night from their new summer menu. The service is exceptional from both the hosts and staff, they are all genuinely very friendly. We will definitely be back.

I had roast chicken stuffed with salami and ricotta cheese. Unfortunately, I could not taste the salami. Otherwise, the dish was excellent.

A great country pub with a good beer garden too. Atmospheric and friendly. One of my favourites. The annual beer festival is a hoot.!

Lovely place. I took a star off because the carpark is very small , and it's difficult if you have a medium size car.

On Monday, April 1st, my family and we decided to visit Three Tons, a restaurant we have frequented since moving to the area. We have previously enjoyed dining there as my husband is gluten-free and we all follow a plant-based diet. We were thrilled to see that they had a plant-based menu and featured special plant-based dishes. However, during our most recent visit, we encountered a rather alarming situation. Despite being told on three separate occasions that the Mushroom Roulade was a gluten-free, plant-based option for my husband, we were shocked to discover that it actually contained eggs. This lack of consideration for allergies and personal preferences was simply unacceptable. To make matters worse, our waitress, Rachel, delivered this news in a loud and embarrassing manner. After my husband requested an alternative, Rachel suggested a carbonara with vegan cream and mushrooms. While we appreciated the effort, the dish was quite underwhelming and some items were even served cold. To top it off, we were surprised to see that the dish was priced at £20, which seemed excessive given the quality. If my husband had a severe egg allergy, the consequences could have been disastrous. It is concerning that the duty manager seemed unaware of the difference between eggs and plant-based foods, which raises doubts about the staff's knowledge. Overall, our experience at Three Tons was disappointing, but we hope that they will take our feedback into consideration and make improvements for future guests.

Very disappointed, Easter Sunday lunch, I had the chicken and Pheasant option, the chicken was definitely not freshly cooked and the roast potatoes were at least 4 hours old. Also, at the price paid I would have expected a larger portion and at least a Yorkshire pudding and some parsnips. There are far better Sunday Roasts round at much more reasonable prices.

Lovely food. Nice location. The Gluten Free was a bit of a drama (poor menu design), but they were accommodating and in the end that part was well delivered. Friends said they were a little chilly as there was quite a draught, and the service could have been a smidge quicker, we bad empty plates and glasses sat for a while. However, a nice venue and food was faultless.

The Three Tuns used to be a regular haunt for us - in fact we had our day after wedding lunch there a few years ago with many friends & family and the service was brilliant. So very disappointing to find the atmosphere had changed when we visited last Saturday lunchtime. The bar man was quite abrupt and unhelpful when we enquired about the wines and even though the pub was fairly empty, his service was absolutely minimal. It was almost an effort to serve us. We noticed that the restaurant waiter was friendly and chatty when serving meals, however they need to look at staff training for the bar staff, as other customers seemed to receive a similar level of disinterest as we did when ordering at the bar. It is such a shame that when pubs are struggling to stay open, a hostelry which used to have such a good reputation and friendly atmosphere now feels so unwelcoming. We have recommended the Three Tuns to friends and family visiting over the years, but sadly it won’t on the list any longer.

Over priced, average quality food, unimaginative menu, poor value for money. False sympathetic response from management. Hopefully they will take forward my comments. They also wanted to add a service charge!! I did not accept! Unfortunately there are too many pubs that think they are restaurants and want to charge restaurant prices for average quality pub service and food!! I’m just been honest!

We don't often stay in pubs but pleased we did this time, great location, almost opposite the station and close to harbour, shops and restaurants. Our room was a good size and decor was good, toiletries were good quality and paraben free. Bed was comfortable although we found the quilt a little heavy. Breakfast was very good, served by a very cheerful and welcoming Kayleigh each morning. All of the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. We asked for an iron but didn't get it, mentioned to Kayleigh on last morning and said we should have asked her. Would definitely stay again if in the area
