Good table service, friendly helpful staff. Had the Christmas menu, starter of smoked salmon was very tasty but main course of turkey and the beef was a little bland needed more seasoning, plenty of potatoes and good selection of hot fresh veg. Finished with hot tea and coffee and little mince pies. Overall quite a good lunch. Aservice charge of 10% is added to your bill.

1 = poor 10 = excellent Welcome 6 Atmosphere 8 Cleanliness 5 Speed of serve 8 Attentiveness 6 Food quality 6 Value for money 3 Drinks 7 Friendly enough welcome, the albeit seemed they were not ready for service on time. I ordered the ribeye steak medium, the other dish was sea bass, with dauphinoise. The food arrived in good time, hot and plenty of it. The veg cooked to perfection with a slight crunch, the chips pre-salted not sure about that and straight out of a freezer (why waste time making them), albeit I’m sure McDonald serve the same ones! The sea bass tasted fresh and had a very delicate balance of flavours and reasonably presented. Dauphinoise, poorly done and not well presented, looked like microwave mash, mostly bland (I make way better). The steak was rare (not medium), not rested and slightly tough in places. However and was seasoned well and had a really good flavour. No wine offered to complement the meal. Desserts… Wow just wow, taste was great the perfect amount in richness to compliment a meal. Over all, as nice of a place this is, it is very over priced serving, basic pub food…

We’ve had some lovely visits here & highly recommend. Lovely staff & and fantastic food! Shame tonight was spoilt by some “LOCALS” that felt that they had more of a right to our ‘reserved’ table because they’d been sat there longer & lived round the corner 😂😂. The staff dealt with the situation so well & were so kind, thank you. This was my dad’s last weekend here before he moves away so we went to our favourite place & had a lovely evening despite some rude, entitled individuals. Thank you to the staff for being so professional & making our evening so enjoyable.

Unfortunately my partner and I had a roast dinner, the lamb was extremely dry and not edible and sent it back I had the beef instead, the roast potatoes were really hard and not enjoyable the meal felt like a microwave dinner, the best part was the veg. For dessert we both went for the apple crumble which was OK apart from the yellow coloured water called custard!! Also had bit of cellophane in my crumble. On the whole not a great meal and will not be returning.

Visiting the area and went for a birthday treat as looked like something a bit special. Very disappointed. We were advised they were busy, although we had pre-booked, and bought olives to the table. 45min wait to order. 2 starters - french onion soup was 'watery' and no cheese crouton, bread board to share was fresh but did not taste of sundried tomato and bacon as advised. Long wait for mains - people arriving after us were getting their main courses - and what a disappointment. Dover Sole mushy and tasteless (returned), lamb cutlets not pink as promised with tasteless red win jus, duck breast edible but poor. 2.5 hours after table booking foraging for food in local co-op! Bill was significantly discounted, but for restaurant prices all food we had was a very poor standard.

Absolutely one of the hidden gems of the local area! The food is absolutely fantastic and the service is arguably up there with the very best I’ve experienced worldwide! Special mention to Rachel who went above & beyond even the highest standards of service and was superb with our children. So much so, that our children now often ask if “Rachel will be there” whenever we mention going to The Three Tuns and their faces light up when they see her! Can’t recommend this place highly enough and I can genuinely say, we’ve been coming here for years and can’t think of anywhere else we would rather go for a lovely family meal or Sunday roast!

Not my first visit but definitely the last. Why because although the quality of the food was good as was the service (our waitress was lovely), the quantity was mean. I'm not a big eater but my main course was not good value at £23. A sliver of albeit delicious cherry cheesecake for £9.50! Then service charge for 3 people. It was my friend's birthday, so I did not say anything as I didn't want to spoil the occasion. However, when I got home I felt that I'd been 'ripped off'. Noted that there are quite a few similar reviews & also no reply from this previously excellent establishment. Which I always think speaks volumes. In future I won't reply on past experiences & will read reviews for a fav pub which is no more for me! Such a shame.

2 medium rare steaks came rawer than blue. Sauce room temperature and onion rings cooked in old burnt oil. 35min wait to order when there were 4 tables and 3 servers. We went out of our way to go somewhere decent (given these reviews) and it was awful. I brought it up at the end (no check back) and had to leave. I’m assuming the “chef” didn’t accept the steaks were raw because we had a couple drinks taken off the bill. Assuming the waitress was embarrassed and did what she could. £60 I’ll never see back. Definitely won’t go back.

Just returned home. Really disappointed having been recommended by a friend recently….service poor, waitress surly & unfriendly, when we asked for black pepper she informed us you could only have that if you were in the main restaurant 🤷‍♀️, my husband walked through and got it himself 😡 there was no room so we sat in the bar area, ordered at the bar, including drinks halfway through our meal, despite paying the same prices as those sat in the actual restaurant area adjacent to where we sat…. quality of the food, what my son & husband had was average, very underwhelming. My dish was terrible, the seafood linguine, “ small odd bits of fish, two prawns” , some of the fish was so chewy ( including the squid/ octopus) I literally had to remove it from my mouth I couldn’t swallow it!! It was absolutely rank. No one approached us during our meal at any point to ask how it was/ was everything ok. Decided to leave before dessert/ coffee and complained when we went to pay the bill at the bar. They did reduce the bill slightly , but that was the least they could do. We are a professional couple, eat out regularly in quality restaurants and visited this place whilst staying in the area after recommendation. We will never go back, I’m just hoping I’m not ill later……..

4 of us had beef and horsradish ciabbata rolls. There was no side salad as stated on the menu, only a few leaves of rocket and a small tablespoon of coleslaw. There was so little horsradish sauce in the rolls we had to all add more from the condiment box. Very disappointed at a ridiculous price of £44 for just 4 rolls. We were planning on all having main meals but again everything seemed very overpriced.

Decided to cycle to the pub to have a drink, was busy locking my electric bike up against the rear garden fence to keep it in view whilst sat in the garden, when a lady came out and shouted at me from 100 yards away telling me I couldn’t leave my bike there, she had an event on! Let’s hope no one decided to not drive to the event, choosing to cycle instead 😂 I can’t imagine they tell patrons who drive there that they cannot park in the car park! Other patrons were shocked and told me they found her behaviour very rude. I did not stay and buy a drink, instead I went to the much friendlier pub down the road, the Crown! This pub is obviously far too posh for mere cyclists!!

We were really looking forward to having an afternoon/ evening in the pub on a wet Saturday. Ordered food at 5pm then got a reserved sign put on our table and we were told they’d need the table back for 6pm! Wish we’d been told that before we ordered food as we would not have stuck around. Then the food came out, it was very poor for the price, I had the sea bass with sea food…basically pickled octopus out of a jar!!! My husband had the burger which was again very poor, coleslaw not even homemade! They had a wedding on which clearly took priority over other paying customers. If you can’t cope with both then shut the pub to everyone other than wedding guests!

I'm very surprised to see such positive reviews as I had completely the opposite experience. First of all we got a very surly welcome from a chap behind the bar who appeared to be the manager. We had just asked if they were open for food as we could see lots of wedding guests arriving so we weren't sure and he gave a short response and then proceeded to bark at us "drinks?" And when we asked about menus he rudely pointed and just said "there" and looked at us as if we had asked him something completely absurd. For me the food was distinctly average considering the price. I had a pulled pork sandwich and the pork was dry and chewy with a measly amount of apple sauce and what looked like supermarket coleslaw on the side. I understand that they may have been preparing for a busy day with a wedding but there is no need to treat paying customers like they are an inconvenience!

Visit here regularly and have never had a bad experience, however, this time we were not very impressed with the food and service was very slow... Table booked for 2 pm for 4 people, order taken for drinks. Then order for starters and mains taken. Starters arrived at 2.30 ish. Mains around 3.10. Roast duck was well overcooked..... Also, the plum sauce to accompany the duck was just ordinary gravy with a few plum pieces thrown in? When plates taken away at 3.30 ish we did mention about the duck. When asked if we would like the dessert menu, this was brought over eventually , staff took our order - (very disappointed that the sticky toffee pudding had run out !!!). We then waited for at least 45 minutes for two desserts to arrive but no two coffees which we had ordered with the desserts (obviously these had been forgotten when the waitress took the order) .... as when we had finished the desserts had to again ask the waitress for two coffees!!! Coffees finally appeared at 4.40. The venue was quite busy when we arrived but people were getting served in a reasonable time - but not in our case..... Of course we will have meals at the Three Tuns again, but maybe not on a Sunday!!!

Now then. What a treat. We were out and about, 6 of us in 3 van converted campers. Weather was changeable. This beautiful pub was recommended as a place to grab some food and possibly stay at. We booked a table for 6 with 0 expectations. What a lovely surprise we got. Really really lovely staff, great atmosphere, and the food was amazing. It was bank holiday, busy! And its little touches like a waitress popping over, apologising for the delay on the food with some bread and olives. Its just getting rarer to find that kind of service these days. No one minds waiting when it's busy if they don't feel forgotten. We stayed in the carpark, and it was just really lovely. The carpark stays locked until around 10am...fine for us! But one to watch for if you are looking for an early start and away! Overall, highly recommended 👌 we will 100% be parting with more of our hard earned here in the future.

On Monday, April 1st, my family and we decided to visit Three Tons, a restaurant we have frequented since moving to the area. We have previously enjoyed dining there as my husband is gluten-free and we all follow a plant-based diet. We were thrilled to see that they had a plant-based menu and featured special plant-based dishes. However, during our most recent visit, we encountered a rather alarming situation. Despite being told on three separate occasions that the Mushroom Roulade was a gluten-free, plant-based option for my husband, we were shocked to discover that it actually contained eggs. This lack of consideration for allergies and personal preferences was simply unacceptable. To make matters worse, our waitress, Rachel, delivered this news in a loud and embarrassing manner. After my husband requested an alternative, Rachel suggested a carbonara with vegan cream and mushrooms. While we appreciated the effort, the dish was quite underwhelming and some items were even served cold. To top it off, we were surprised to see that the dish was priced at £20, which seemed excessive given the quality. If my husband had a severe egg allergy, the consequences could have been disastrous. It is concerning that the duty manager seemed unaware of the difference between eggs and plant-based foods, which raises doubts about the staff's knowledge. Overall, our experience at Three Tons was disappointing, but we hope that they will take our feedback into consideration and make improvements for future guests.

The Three Tuns used to be a regular haunt for us - in fact we had our day after wedding lunch there a few years ago with many friends & family and the service was brilliant. So very disappointing to find the atmosphere had changed when we visited last Saturday lunchtime. The bar man was quite abrupt and unhelpful when we enquired about the wines and even though the pub was fairly empty, his service was absolutely minimal. It was almost an effort to serve us. We noticed that the restaurant waiter was friendly and chatty when serving meals, however they need to look at staff training for the bar staff, as other customers seemed to receive a similar level of disinterest as we did when ordering at the bar. It is such a shame that when pubs are struggling to stay open, a hostelry which used to have such a good reputation and friendly atmosphere now feels so unwelcoming. We have recommended the Three Tuns to friends and family visiting over the years, but sadly it won’t on the list any longer.

So good!! As a vegetarian I was so relieved to see a pub menu that didn’t do the typical veggie options (burger, pizza, pasta etc.) and I couldn’t choose! I had the stuffed peppers and they were so filling and tasty. Pear pavlova for dessert with plant based cream as well and it was AMAZING! Staff were nice and friendly and had a very warm and cosy atmosphere Can’t wait to come back and try the other options!!!

Visited the pub last night , Tuesday. A bit quiet , but most places are midweek , at this time of year. Beer was amazing and the staff were what you dream of on a pub. Superb. Great fun and knowledgeable. The lovely lady recommended the mushroom soup and she was right. Incredible. 5 of us had it. She also said the Lamb and mint suet pudding was good. It was exceptional , not to minty , which was fine. Service was first rate and we really enjoyed it. Beautiful pub to , Ringwood ales , brilliant staff , food was amazing. What more can you want. Thoroughly recommend. Thanks.

I took my partner for his birthday , have always driven past and car park always full so thought we would try. On arrival we were kindly greeted and the waiting staff were very attentive and friendly . We both opted for the Pan fried seabass ,dauphinose potatoes, mushrooms, baby onions in a tarragon sauce with vegetables. It was amazing and the flavours were superb. There was plenty to eat including the fish fillets . We certainly will be returning and can't wait to try something else. We were looking at all the other meals coming out and they to looked amazing . Well done .I wish I'd have taken a photo as it was presented beautifully .

Wow! We were staying in an air B&B, the hosts recommend here and oh my goodness I'm so happy they did! The starters were to die for (mussels for me and baked camenbert for my husband), followed by the Château Briand and it was cooked to perfection! Staff were enthusiastic about the food and the atmosphere was lovely. Thank you!

Staying locally at Holmsley Campsite 🏕️ and decided to try The Three Tuns for Sunday Lunch. Booked online which was easy and guaranteed us a table. Lovely quaint thatched cottage/pub. Nice decor, very clean, with lovely atmosphere! Staff, excellent, happy, attentive! Sunday lunch - we both opted for roast pork, comes with an apple/mustard gravy, pork stuffing, cracking, roast and mashed potatoes. Roasts were a little hard around the edges (maybe kept warm too long post cooking). Was disappointed when a very small dish of accompanying veg arrived - I asked is this for one? Was told no - it’s for two! Cauli cheese, braised red cabbage, carrots and mange tout. Lovely! Then got vegetable envy when table next to us had their veg arrive and realised we had be denied an adult portion! Did have a laugh with the lovely waitress who did apologise and offer us more veg but we had already cleared our plates! Can fully recommend both puddings we enjoyed - the ice cream is BEAUTIFUL, locally produced in the New Forest! I enjoyed a lovely syrup sponge with home made custard. Was delicious! Would we return - yes please!

I have eaten at the Three Tuns in Bransgore on many occasions. It is a really nice place to bring family and friends for a meal and a drink. There is a great selection of food on the menu to suit all tastes and dietary requirements. There is an extensive drinks menu as well. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and appear to genuinely want their guests to have a great dining experience. I would recommend the Three Tuns and will dine there again. It is a popular venue so consider booking a table in advance.

Really great meal, clearly popular as it was busy and service very friendly - we hadn’t booked but arrived early so managed to sit at a table reserved for later on the understanding we had to be done in a couple of hours. We just about did it and the next table had arrived before we left but we were never made to feel rushed. Lovely pudding options and yummy roast which only loses one star because there was roast potatoes and mash where I’d prefer to have swede or parsnip rather than more potato - but that’s personal preference and wouldn’t stop me going again! Good for the doggo too 👍

Truly awful - and no suitable toilets. The food we were served was below average, the coffees were unfortunately not good at all. The service from the woman running the cafe was disgraceful. She seemed off from the outset, and was downright rude in the end after one of our group was reduced to tears by her behaviour. Most importantly the toilet was not suitable for visitors to use, you have to squeeze through the kitchen which is open to the seating area to get to the toilet, which is extremely close to where food is being prepared and completely inaccessible for anyone with mobility issues. The toilet door did not shut, so the woman who runs the cafe had to slam shut another door in order for there to be any privacy (and any level of hygiene), which then resulted in one of our party being trapped inside the toilet unable to get out. When another member of our party was eventually able to force the door open from the outside and the person who was trapped was understandably shaken at the experience, the women running the cafe had the nerve to tell her to calm down, and then denied having said anything at all. All in all it was a horrendous experience, no redeeming features - this unfortunate situation could have been helped with a kind manner but instead was made much worse. Avoid. We will be making a formal complaint to the food standards agency. A bizarre and upsetting experience!

En route back from Southampton we broke our train journey home @ Brockenhurst and dropped into the Forresters for a couple of drinks - Saturday evening husell and bussel - a busy local with atmosphere - great for a drink and being near to station was really handy.
