Pie, only pastry lid so lots of tasty filling, really crisp chips and good quality garden peas cooked perfectly. Everything arrived piping hot. Friendly attentive staff. We were all delighted with our lunch.

What a gem of a find. This is what being a pub is all about, the staff were super welcoming, and the food was absolutely outstanding. Obviously properly home cooking at its very best. My grand children rated the play area one of the best they have experienced at a pub. I only wish I lived closer to this brilliant pub, well done to all involved with the venture, and for actualy wanting to be there.

We visited the Three Stirrups for our monthly family meet-up yesterday. We had pre-ordered our food. Firstly, we were so pleased there was a welcoming fire. The food was all brought out at once (there were 10 of us!!) and it was all beautifully cooked and served. The meals are substantial and very reasonably priced. The service was efficient, warm and friendly.Several of our party said that it was the best place we had been to and we've been to lots of places locally ! We thoroughly recommend this pub especially for groups and would certainly recommend it to all. We had a lovely time.Thank you for making us so welcome.

Food was good. Unfortunately booked a table for 5.30pm and the place was full of children running in and out of the room, past our table and small children screaming, it was awful couldn’t wait to eat our food so we could leave. If children are welcomed then they should be made to sit at their table not keep running around, hot food is being served so inevitably it’s an accident waiting to happen. My advice if you want a meal in a school playground then visit the three stirrups!

First time visit to the three stirrups . We were part of a group of eight . Given a table that was so close to another table it was difficult for some of the party to get in and out of . Very small odd shaped car park , no room to park on the road as very narrow village roads . Main meal was good and reasonably priced however had sides of garlic bread and onion rings which were very over cooked and very nearly inedible There was a small terrace outside with tables and chairs . It was a busy Saturday night and as such very noisy also due to the fact tables were very close together . Most of the staff were friendly and service was reasonable . I would not hurry back here however .

We thought we'd give the Three Stirrups another go having visited it for food previously after it had the refurbishment. Last time they completely forgot our order (didn't put it through to the kitchen) and because it was busy we waited longer than we should to query where our food was. Everyone makes mistakes so tried again. This time we got a drink and menus and found a table. What soon became apparent were the amount of customers complaining about wrong orders, missing parts to orders or orders not showing up. We realised our last experience clearly wasn't a one off! We finished our drinks and left and went elsewhere to dine. Such a shame as the refurbishment of the pub is really great. I do wish the pub well but wont go again now.

So I did a bit of research and reviews were ok for this pub. We weren’t looking for anything really special or smart just some good pub grub in a comfortable clean place with polite service. None of these requirements were present. Maybe the food would have been ok but we didn’t stay long enough to find out and wouldn’t risk our health to do so. It was a lovely warm evening and so we wanted to sit outside with our dog. When we arrived the beer garden looked adequate from a distance. There was one wooden picnic table left so we headed for that. It was full of dirty pots and bird poo but not to worry, they could clean it for us. A young lady came out carrying food and delivered to the table next to us. She then turned to walk back and had to walk around us and our table to return to the bar, paying no attention to us or the pots. She was returning empty handed. I called to her ‘excuse me, perhaps we could sit here if that’s ok but the lots need removing and the table cleaning’ she made no reply but came back for the lots. The table and bench was covered very thickly with bird droppings and had clearly not cleaned off for a long time. We decided to find a cleaner table and saw in another patio area a glass topped table. Thinking it would be more likely to wipe clean easily we moved to that table. It was filthy but ,as I say, it would wipe clean. We sat and waited a short while during which time the loud and foul mouthed group next to us made us very uncomfortable. Male and females alike were freely using the ‘F’ word very loudly. There were children nearby. My husband stood up and said, ‘let’s go, this place is filthy, unkempt, it’s a mess and the clientele are foul mouthed and offensive. I’m not eating here’. The waitress did not reappear, I wanted to explain the problem to her. We left.

I ordered both pork and beef which was served with yorkie and crunchy crackling. Side dishes of mash and roast, cauliflower cheese and veg. Gravy and sauces accompanied the food, it was all hot and utterly delicious. We are five healthy eaters but we couldn’t finish what was served. 4 family members went to this pub on recommendation. It was a Wednesday Evening. You would expect the place to be quiet . No it was absolutely buzzing. Adequate car parking. The pub itself is a little warren of rooms of a passageway. All the action was in the front bar. Lots of locals and some a couple of tables having food. We took the last remaining table. This is definitely a pubby pub but a great atmosphere. We had a very warm welcome from the Landlord and the young girl that served the food. The pub does have a restaurant that’s open on Fridays and Weekends plus special occasions . Two of the party had the 2 steaks plus bottle of wine £20 and my wife and I had the 2 for £12 menu . The food was prompt pipping hot and home cut and cooked chips. Not had home cut and cooked chips for ages non of the frozen stuff. Three of us had sweets they where delicious. Altogether with drinks which included G&T lager and two Becks blue for the driver The bill came to just over £11 each . Shall definitely come again. Thank you for a lovely evening

We dined as a family of 5 with 3 generations present. We just had a main course, the food is simple but well cooked. The menu is limited, hence one star off the maximum. I would have liked to have seen a curry on the menu or maybe a home made lasagne. I don't recall a vegetarian option but that's not to say there wasn't one, it didn't stand out as something that might tempt you off the meat/fish wagon. Nevertheless we all agreed that the food was delicious & the dining room is lovely & tastefully furnished. Staff are eager to please & treated us like VIP's.Main course food is freshly cooked, not pinged in a microwave (or it didn't seem to be) so there is a delay in receiving it. We waited over half an hour but drinks service was good, though only one type of red wine available & not our 1st choice of J2O which made us feel that the bar was not well stocked either. Give this place a chance though, we will be back, maybe try the Sunday lunch next time. They are trying to get it right.

We got excited about the pub being under new management. Hopefully someone can now make the most of a great local pub. They started offering fish and chips with five different flavours of batter and we thought we'd have a nice walk up the local for some good beer and a lovely fish and chips. We left very disappointed! I order fish and chips with chilli batter. My partner beer battered. When it finally arrived, 45 minutes after ordering it, it was greasy, the batter was a dark brown as if the oil had been changed in a very long while. The chips were the same. There was no difference in flavour between the two meals as the only thing you could taste was fat and oil. The pub itself is in massive need of a face lift and the loud obnoxious bar maid could definitely do with lowering the noise level a bit.

My husband and I visited on a Saturday night - we had not been to the pub before this but saw they had started doing food - their fish and chip menu caught my eye with a range of different flavoured batters. We had high hopes but were really sorry to find that the food and pub did not live up to expectations. We ordered at the bar and the young lady was very friendly but I'm afraid the positives end there. We waited 45 minutes for our food and seriously considered leaving we were so hungry - I have no idea if they had something going on elsewhere in the pub (they do have a function room) but there were not many dining in the bar so I'm really not sure why it would take so long to batter and fry 2 sets of fish. When it arrived the batter was very dark and looked greasy. It did not taste good. We both ordered different flavours of batter but the taste of the oil was so strong that neither could tell the difference. We really wanted to like this place and do think the manager could have a really good thing if maybe more attention was paid to the way the fish is cooked and the length taken to serve. I do not think it would take much to improve and we would certainly make use of the takeaway option if it did.

He then gave us the menu. There was a large variety. I had chicken roast and my partner had beef. I opted for the small but it was much larger than a small so the portions are very good and spot on value too. The food came out and was delicious, Ange came and offered extra veg. Went there recently for family meal on Friday evening. We hadn't booked so didn't know if we would be able to get in. Tried a couple of other pubs in the town, but they weren't doing food so decided to try Three Stirrups. Would not have known it was there if not for a sandwich board by the main cross roads providing directions. The bar area looked traditional if not a little dated but we were shown to the restaurant at the back. This room was homely and pleasant and had approx. 10 tables. As it was only half full, there was plenty of room. There was one waitress serving, who was attentive and quick to take drinks orders. I did end up with a dirty wine glass with lipstick on it, which wasn't a great start, but was replaced immediately with an apology. The menu was not huge but had a lot of choice, many options homemade and all cooked to order. It seemed to specialise in fish dishes including John Dory, Sea Bass and Brill, which seemed popular. We ordered large fish (cod) and chips, lamb shanks and lamb curry. The food was obviously made fresh and took a while to arrive. We would recommend the lamb shank and the fish and chips, both were delicious. Lamb was tender, cooked perfectly (ever so slightly pink in the middle), with red wine jus, new potatoes and seasonal veg. Large fish and chips was 2 good sized pieces of battered cod, chips and peas. The fish was lovely and batter perfectly light and crispy. The lamb curry, which while very nice, lots of lamb and again home made, was let down by the rice which was overcooked and stodgy and was missing a poppadom. When I asked where it was, was told they didn't have any, this would have been good to know at point of ordering, rather than as the meal was served. The sizes of the meals were not huge how you sometimes get in pub chains, but still big enough to fill you up. Prices on the whole were reasonable. On the whole would go back to this pub, but would choose something different- the fish and chips or the hearty beef stew, which sounded great! Welcoming and homely atmosphere, even the chef popped out to speak to guests which was nice. The food generally good and good value, just a couple a minor negatives, which can easily be rectified.

We came across this pub on the last night of our narrowboat holiday. It was very quiet for a Friday night which indicates that perhaps there are better places to eat in the area. The menu was not particularly inspiring and there was no specials board. The food was cooked fresh which meant there was a little wait (not something I mind) and the lamb curry which I chose was cooked to my liking in terms of level of spice. The other meals in my party were also enjoyed. The restaurant is nicely decorated but the menu needs a revamp to reflect it. I am not sure whether I would make an effort to return.

The food was excellent and very well presented. At last we have someone who recognises that some customers prefer their beef on the rare side. Rare meat can always be cooked a little more for those that want it so - you cannot rescue overcooked meat! It will be very interesting to see how much the brewery back his efforts with improved decor etc. Good Luck Paul, on this showing, you deserve to be successful.

After stumbling across this place via Facebook recommendations I am so pleased we decided to give it a go. Food was excellent we had the pate, mussels and then steak and fish and chips. Couldn't fault anything great service really well cooked quality food..added bonus even the chef came out to ask us how the food was. Top quality restaurant standard food in a lovely country pub setting! Perfect!

8 of us enjoyed a lovely 3 course Sunday lunch. Between us we had at least 3 different menu selections for each course. We were all extremely satisfied with the quality and presentation. I would definitely recommend!

The pub area has seen vast improvements since new management. There is a much better atmosphere & the bar lads are superb. Unfortunately they are banning dogs so it will no longer be our local, which is a real shame & loses its village charm :-( Think it's all in a drive to make it more up market, but they have a way to go. The toilets are not good, always one out of order & rarely any toilet paper or hand towels - be warned ladies. Sunday lunch is lovely & would recommend. Eaten in restaurant several times & foods is nice, but doesn't quite live up to the reviews on here. I was surprised & disappointed to be served frozen chips rather than home cooked like other pubs in the village. The waitress wasn't very attentive - rather than leave the wine in a cooler on the table, it was put behind the bar & you had to keep asking for a refill, which was a bit embarrassing. The restaurant lacked atmosphere but I'm sure that will pick up with more people. Overall, bar is excellent, restaurant & facilities need a bit more work.

Great home cooked food, starters were excellent and the beef stew was hearty and filling. Really enjoyed sitting in the sun trap of a beer garden.

Wow, what a transformation. I went with my wife and two young boys for Sunday Lunch on 31/03. This pub has recently gone into new ownership and the change is dramatic. The first impression is how homely the place feels, it feels like going into a big living room, there are only about 10-15 tables and as such feels really cosy, the roaring log fire made it feel even more homely.Onto the food, it is clear there has been a lot of effort go into the menu, there was a choice of about 5 options per course with all the normal roasts available. The kids mini roast at £3.95 was a particularly nice touch and enough to keep my four year old happy !!The Sunday Lunch was not your bog standard and the vegetables were clearly very fresh and rustic, the sweet potato a particularly nice touch.Overall a thoroughly enjoyable lazy Sunday afternoon, I urge you to give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

Our first visit & what a lovely, warm & friendly welcome 😬 A cosy local with heated & covered courtyard area. We all had delicious crusty-filled rolls, chips & pork pie 😋😋 Rest of the menu & theme nights look great too, just wish we lived closer & it was our local !! Betsy, Bert & Toby ( the dogs) loved the treats too. Thanks for your hospitality, nothing was too much trouble & see you again soon.
