Went in to grab a quick drink before they closed 4 people in there and 1 barmaid who didn't even look up from her phone so no greeting or anything so we walked straight back out again and went to another pub which was more welcoming

We stayed with friends in Witney, who took us to the Three Pigeons where we have an evening meal. Absolutely no complaints, very friendly management and staff, good selection of Ales, and a quite varied, and relatively for Oxfordshire reasonably priced meals. The meals were all excellent, hot and very tasty. I had the prawn cocktail for starters and it was amazing, almost a meal in itself, when I have been to other places, and have counted barely 6 prawns in the concoction. So all in all good value for money. A very enjoyable evening, in a lovely public house. We will certainly come again.

Went for a girlie meal last Friday, I ordered the Homemade Pie mmm not so sure it was to be honest looked uncooked soggy mush on top filling was okay, pretty standard on chips and peas typical frozen pub food. My friends had gammon steak, beef steak and a vegetable curry which were as expected. Just a shame waitress if so called was didn’t provide a good service. Once mains were finished and plates taken not once were we asked if would like Coffee another drink or dessert too busy chatting to male company at bar, then I guess her shift finished she left didn’t even get us the bill. I think advise needed on waiting tables, even other staff ignored us.

The Three Pigeons Witney, was one of the best pub/restaurants we have dined at. The service was first class, and coped with our larger party of 8 that included a child was excellent, even offering a child's menu. Dealt with our different menu choices without a problem, even though its was a busy Saturday evening. All food was eaten without any redress to flavour or quantity. The menu choice was quite large for a small restaurant well done.

We were made welcome by the locals at this pub on Wood Green in Witney. The London Pride was well kept. Their menu offered good pub food at very reasonable prices. The service by a variety of young ladies behind the bar was friendly and efficient. I believe there are joint landlord/landlady. The latter who looks after the food side. There is however very little interaction with the landlord which is strange.

The pub has a great community feel with locals sitting around the bar but the resturant area was empty at 8.45pm on a Saturday evening.Initially the staff seemed unsure if the kitchen was still open. We opted for gammon steak, chips and salad which was fresh and hot in the right places. Perhaps less items on the menu would give confidence that more of it was fresh. Not all choices could have been cooked fresh if requested.

My wife and I called in at around 1330 - an impromptu visit on our way home - and noticed at once that this truly traditional 'local' had not only been dressed nicely for Christmas but had been quietly spruced up.The dining room furniture is a bit café-like but functionally comfortable and spotlessly clean. New not-too-posh menus also gave a good impression.Highly regarded by its 'regulars', who meet for group meals as well as a good pint, this is Wood Green's "Bull at Ambridge".

I first visited this pub with my partner on a Saturday night for a quick drink. I immediately warmed to this old fashioned, friendly locals filled pub. My father is a resident of Witney, I take him out once a month since my mother sadly passed away. We try not to visit the same place twice, but we will be going back to this establishment for the most obscure of reasons. This is not a gastro pub, or in fact a foodie establishment, what this pub supplies is pure and simple honest grub. How they maintain their prices I have no idea. But, if you want good honest food this is the place to come. Don't expect fine dining, enjoy a good pint of local ale and well prepared simple food at a ridiculously cheap price. But more than this, I left two ten pound notes stuck together in payment, the landlord who had never seen me or met me before came running out to the car trying to explain that I had left too much money as a tip. I wasn't sure so left him by card to phone or e mail me should I owe him the money. I have heard nothing so presumably I made a mistake. For that reason I will re visit this establishment and encourage everyone to visit this honest to goodness pub, with superb ale great simple food, with honest service, and friendly local people.PS the screeching bird, I'm sure, would be great on toast.

We chose this for an evening meal on our last night in Witney. We nearly changed our mind because of the difficulty of parking nearby. On entering, it seemed like a fairly old fashioned traditional pub with a room to one side used as the dining room. As there was no one in there we checked if food was available, it was. Service was very friendly and we'd certainly recommend the food. My steak was cooked exactly as I'd asked and my husband was happy with his scampi. If there was a downside it's the lack of ambience - it probably looks the same as it did when we lived in the area 30 years ago. But the cost (under £10 for the steak with new potatoes, mushrooms, tomato, peas and onion rings) was good.

One of the few 'proper' pubs still alive. Cozy, friendly, bustling with lots of characters and how you want a pub to be. Beams, big inglenook fireplace and smiley bar staff. We visited with friends for a christmas party and the pub was buzzing with locals as well as our party of 20 plus. We sat down for a traditional three course xmas menu at an impossibly reasonable price. The prawn cocktail was outstanding, lovely juicy prawns with a spicy marie rose sauce and my husbands brie wedges with redcurrant sauce was really tasty. The roast was a generous portion and those who wanted an alternative had been well catered for. We finished off the evening with dancing and singling along to a live music duo. Our research paid off, ‘tapas’ suggests Spanish style bites however you’ll be met with a great variety of European, Asian & traditional British lite portions, we ordered 3 each plus a side which was spot on & allowed 6 tastes per couple. Add great local beers, we had their own IPA, very busy but the way the dishes came to the table as they were cooked made for a grazing style of very relaxed dining very highly recommend this place but book before hand.
