Extremely disappointing meal Starter of figs — expected fresh not dried- and then only 3 Gnocchi - limited amount and minimal flavour Price far too much for meagre portions Friends similarly disappointed with their main courses and a dessert order of 2 different scoops of ice cream, came with 2 of same flavour! Not asked about the meal at anytime during the evening Would not recommend

This pub is lovely in a lovely english village. The staff are very engaging and nice. The menu to be fair is limited but i prefer that a few choices done well is better than a lot done badly. I had the guina fowl on mash, it was truly lovely one of the best things i ever ate. My only moan was my wife had the sticky toffee pudding but some idiot stuck it the microwave and ruined it. We mentioned and it stayed on the bill, that was a mistake.

Lovely country pub for a Sunday lunch. Really warm and cosy, with possibly the quickest service I've ever had for a Sunday lunch!

We were greeted and seated politely and quickly, when we arrived for our Sunday Lunch booking. It is a grade ll listed, historic pub, with plenty of atmosphere and character, on the edge of the Cotswolds. The staff were, almost without exception, very friendly and patient, as we chatted when we should have been making menu choices! Our table was in a private nook and was ready for us, and comfortable. The food was all marvellous and plentiful. We loved the desserts! The cost of drinks was no more expensive really than most places in the area. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Mason's Arms South Leigh (The Artist in Residence)

Superb attentive service and food. Scotch egg followed by pork tomahawk with a perfect green peppercorn and brandy sauce. The beetroot and whipped feta was very good as was the burrata and figs. 10/10 on this visit.

We stayed one night in room 15, was lovely and clean. Comfortable bed, lovely hot shower and really nice toiletries. We met friends for a meal which was delicious. Only draw back was we felt it was served really quickly no rest at all between courses. Just felt our meal was very rushed. It wouldn’t put us off going again but next time we would ask for a bit of breathing space between courses. As soon as the plates were cleared the next course was there

We stayed in the shepherds hut for one night in August, overall the stay was lovely; the hut was beautiful, the shower & amenities were gorgeous. The bed/mattress however was incredibly uncomfortable - especially for my husband who is 6ft & built like a rugby player. We had dinner in the restaurant & it was lovely, the staff were super attentive and it was quick. The menu is lovely and small, both our meals were lovely however my husbands steak was overcooked - he didn’t say anything tho so that’s on us. We had a lovely 24hrs here and would come back, probably not to the shepherds hut but it’s a good little hub if you want to explore the cotswolds but not stay there.

This is without doubt THE best hotel I have been to. The food is delicious. There is a lovely relaxed atmosphere but what really makes this place special are the staff who are so polite and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. A special mention must go to Amy, Louis and Rory who really looked after us and made all feel very special.

We had an amazing weekend staying in one of their boutique rooms with a rear private garden area to sunbathe, retro radio that can play jazz music. The food was delicious and we hired bikes to cycle around the local countryside. Highly recommended

We live have lived in South Leigh for over a year now and been here several times over the last year, we haven't been for probably two times three months now but to light was such a disappointment, I fact the worst experience we've had I the area. New staff are terrible and I mean terrible. Yes welcoming and have a friendly smile but once you sit down. We waited and waited to order out drinks, drinks came, I have to be honest dont order their speciality drinks dreadful. The dinner the worst tasting food we've had in here. Overall the place has gone down hill and I mean down hill. I hope the owners read this, we loved this place and thought when we first moved here it was once of the best restaurants, pubs in the area, we had great food amazing service, Mason arms was amazing but now it's dreadful. I truly hope they change this quickly, back to how it was. From now on I'll drive down the road 15/30 mins not walk 2 mins to get good food and service. Honestly such a shame.

This pub has lots of charm and character. An excellent choice for lunch with a solid but small lunch menu of delicious pub classics. The portions are generous and everything we ordered was well cooked and presented. The fish and chips in particular was delicious. Would definitely recommend if you are in the area, not the easiest place to find but well worth the effort.

Went to the Masons Arms in South Leigh today, 4th of May. To enjoy a special meal, with the wife. We got married 11 years ago. We have eaten here about 10 times in the last 7 years. Because we always had a good meal and the staff are always very friendly. Unfortunately today, the food was a let down. The starter was delicious, but the two mains were terrible. I didn't complain about mine, which is unusual. My wife made comment to the lovely young waitress. Her mussels had been overcooked and were dry! She was very apologetic and made sure we weren't charged for her mussels. But, to pay £68, we decided NOT to have dessert, I feel very disappointed. Not sure why, pub/restaurant think it's ok to serve poor quality food and charge £23 for a horrible Milanese Breaded chicken plate. Anyway, I use to take friends here amd also recommend the place to friends. Not anymore.

We stayed 2 nights here in The Shepherds hut....which was amazing.. The food in the pub was excellent!!! We had dinner 2 nights and breakfast 2 mornings which was also fabulous..the staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble

Our favourite local eatery. The service is always friendly and relaxed, the food is fantastic and from breakfast to date night the atmosphere and seeing is always perfectly pitched. Can't recommend highly enough!

Sadly, another example of what was clearly once a traditional rural inn having been turned into a gastrolounge that caters for the coffee-drinking, ex-city type of person. The one cask ale on offer had been sat for a while; drinkable, but only just. Almost no atmosphere at all inside, and certainly nothing that evokes a pub. I will also add that they refuse to accept cash.

The staff here were so friendly and the food was lovely, would recommend the fish and chips! Will definitely be returning.

A wonderful old pub. The people who run it are enthusiasts. The atmosphere is fabulous. The beer looks good and tastes even better: I can vouch for the Guinness so far. I'd like to try their food.

Lovely pub, and nice food - just not suitable for kids! We were so excited to come back to this pub after loving it last time we popped in. Sadly it was just a super frustrating experience. I've never sent food back but it took 6 trips to get a suitable meal for our 18 month old, this included bringing gnocchi when we ordered pasta, running out of fish fingers, bringing out a singular chicken leg on the bone on it's own as a "mini roast", then bringing out just chicken and cabbage on it's own and then a singular potato. Anyone with an 18 month old would understand how frustrating this is and just exhausting - it was honestly like they'd never served a child before - what child (or adult!) would be happy with chicken or chicken & cabbage as a meal?!

Definitely a good idea trying the Masons Arms, Worth the drive out from Oxford, the Sunday Lunch was everything you would expect it to be, definitely recommend.

We had a one night stay here and booked on for dinner and breakfast. The staff were fantastic and made us feel really welcomed. Dinner was exceptional and the wine was lovely. We would definitely visit again.

We had a great time and stayed over in the hotel... A little mid week treat, the staff where very friendly and welcoming. They accommodated our two dogs that semi took over the pub and made a wonderful gin martini and gave a glass of bubbles to my wife (on the house) for her birthday. Its a super place, super location, super friendly and you feel part of the furniture as soon as you walk in... a place you can loose many hours sipping your martini (or at least i did). The only thing to not and why this hasn't got a full 5 stars is the vegi food options are limited - we had to send back the food my wife order and they kindly took it off the bill, but good vegi options aren't hard and there should be a greater selection. Other than that you'll love your stay.

Quirky, cosy, right amount of boho to lux. We only stayed here one night but it was glorious. Lovely food and service (thanks Luiz). Perfect place to have a tasty meal, a drink, play some board games, and have a great night sleep.

We went for Sunday lunch with friends. The beef was pink and plentiful, just how I like it! I didn't need a pud' but they looked great too. Nicely staffed and before we knew it it was 4pm - a long lunch!

Excellent pub. Old-style interior with small bar, sofas and open fire. Hook Norton beers on the pump. Nice food menu and grub was good. This is not a cheap place. Very pleasant service. Seems to have accommodation also. Well recommended.

Nye set menu only advised by email on the day despite booking weeks earlier. Waiter did not appear to know what to do. Had to ask for things repeatedly. Food ok but not of quality expected. Will not return or recommend. Horse and Radish beats this ten times over.

Since moving to the area, I we are very fortunate to live only minutes from the Mason Arms. We have visited serval times for diner and a couple times for just a few drinks. The ambience and layout with its funky art work is very cool, not your typical local pub/restaurant, but you feel relaxed and comfortable when you walk in the door. Their menu is large but all the food we have had has been very good. What really make this place is the staff, the they are friendly, chatty and you feel part of their family. I'd like to thank all the staff for all times we visited for great service and food. We have met serval persons who have stayed here and they all enjoyed their visit, as well a few who visit 45 times a year. So I assume the rooms are great. If in the area I highly recommend popping in. We still have to try their breakfast and Sunday lunch and look forward to doing so.

Arranged a late breakfast with family, the food was excellent, good quality bacon, the black pudding was outstanding perfectly cooked (not dry) and my friends scrambled eggs were the best she'd ever eaten, creamy, service was unhurried and we were well looked after, highly recommended.

A once-loved pub falls short with steep price hikes I've been a loyal patron of this pub for years, drawn by its charming atmosphere and consistently delicious lunch offerings. It was a true hidden gem, a place where one could escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy a hearty meal at a fair price. Unfortunately, my recent visit left me feeling disappointed and concerned about the pub's future. The lunch prices have skyrocketed, with a burger now costing £18 and an additional £3 for bacon. This significant increase is not reflected in the quality of the food, which remains unchanged. It feels as though the management is taking advantage of its loyal clientele, price gouging without delivering a commensurate improvement in the dining experience. Given the abundance of competition in the area, I fear that this pub may struggle to maintain its customer base if it persists with its current pricing strategy. I urge the management to reconsider their decision and bring their prices back to a more reasonable level. Otherwise, they risk losing not only my patronage but also that of many other loyal customers. In its heyday, this pub was a fantastic spot for a satisfying lunch. I sincerely hope that it can recapture its former glory by addressing the issue of inflated prices

Fantastic pub on our doorstep, would like to see a specials board at the weekend it’s nice to let the chef be creative. The food is very good enjoying the new chefs food the pie is fantastic. All the staff are really friendly and professional.

As usual our visit didn’t disappoint. Delicious food, and excellent, friendly service even though the place was packed. Can recommend the Roast Beef lunch, and the very tasty Fish Stew with sole, mussels, prawns, squid and aioli. Will return again soon!

Just had a roast dinner here with the family. Food is really delicious 😋 yummy flavours and generous portions. Drink selection was good with plenty of choice for cocktails, beers, wines and soft drinks. The staff are lovely and friendly. We came from the States and stayed at the Mason Arms for a week to attend my cousin’s wedding in Bicester … had many meals and drinks at the pub and great conversation with the owners/staff. Room was wonderful. Highly recommended!

We enjoyed a one night stay in "The Burrows". Overall a pleasant experience but have to admit, found the whole stay a little overpriced. Esp as breakfast isn't included in the (high) room rates. The staff are all lovely but we found the food on the whole to be expensive for what you get. A one night stay including dinner, breakfast and one round of drinks for two people was nearly £300.
