Stayed here for 1 night during our long weekend away. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The pub itself is quite small and if you want to have a meal I would suggest you book. We were given the studio apartment which suited us fine and was a pleasant surprise. It had its own little kitchen, with hob, fridge, kettle and combi oven, en-suite shower, table and chairs and nice sized bed. Breakfast was stocked in the fridge with fresh orange juice, milk, ham, cheese, rolls, jam and butter. It’s a very quiet village with nothing to do, although we did walk up to the church. Really lovely stay here, the only downside, apart from the spider in the bed, there’s only 1 window that opened so the room was quite hot even though we turned the heater off.

We went to the Salford Inn with another couple whom we met through our ante natal classes to enjoy a good catch up along with our sons. Unfortunately, the whole afternoon was marred towards the end when the barman asked that if our babies were going to continue to cry they would have to be ‘taken outside’. Notwithstanding the facts that the bar was empty - aside from a couple sitting around the corner - and it was a cold and windy outside, this was completely inappropriate. Advertises as ‘child friendly’, but clearly subscribes to the Victorian philosophy that children should be seen and not heard. Additionally, half the menu was unavailable.

We had intended to have a light lunch at a café in a nearby antique centre. Unfortunately the café was closed for January, so we were pleased to notice a sign to this pub as we drove past on the main road. We found a very characterful English village inn. The staff were genuinely friendly and pleased to see us. I had fishcake and my partner had ham egg and chips. Both meals were very well cooked and enjoyable. The portion size was certainly generous. I was driving so my partner was delighted to wash it down with a pint of Old Hooky.Definitely worth a stop if you're passing.

Oh yes what a treat. The staff at the Salford Inn are just lovely. Very attentive. The atmosphere in the pub is relaxed and comfortable. The food is wonderful. One had pork chop, chips & veg & I had Gluten free fish and chips. All freshly made & very delicious. The chips were like huge roast potatoes, part steamed then fried. Soft through the middle & very crispy on the outside. All I can say is to anyone is Visit this put you will not be disappointed with anything. 10 out of 10. I will be back. Many thanks.

4 of us went for lunch prior to doing a local walk. The pub was empty when we arrived at 12, but later filled up nicely. The food was excellent especially the hake which was cooked perfectly. My ham egg and chips was delicious and a huge portion. The desserts were also good. The pub was warm and the welcome from the staff and chef, even warmer! Prices reasonable. Difficult to find a single fault. Wish the Salford was in my village!!!

The room was really nice good sized bed . Breakfast was given in room and was a good choice of continental. There was a dirty dish with a cornflack left I. It which was rather off putting. We chose to eat in the Salford arms which started off really promisingly with various starters the star dish being the exquisite prawns. The main courses were flavourful and cooked very well. However 3 guests chose the cheese board, one cheeseboard was presented to the table with two pieces of cheese quite small which was very disappointing the description should have said duo of cheese. The dress ert was also disappointing and was like an individual ready made from a local supermarket. The staff were really loverly and attentive.

There has clearly been a lot of effort out into this little gem just off the A44 and it shows. Upon arrival The Salford was fairly busy and the car park was pretty full, after informing the proprietor he informed me to ‘block him in’ which meant I could get my car in and get settled after a four hour drive. Before bed I decided to have some food and my fillet steak was exceptional, well cooked and a sensible portion size. The restaurant itself was buzzing with the staff speaking to all the patrons - the vibe was relaxed and friendly. My meal was served in front of an open fire. My room was located in a small barn at the back of the property, it was well furnished clean and spacious with a good sized bathroom - with a good sized bath! The breakfast is supplied via a small fridge with contents in there for the next day - you either love or hate this option, but personally it works well as I can save a bit of time and also take a couple of croissants for during the day! Overall, impressed.

Arrived asking if still did food service at 14:20 to be told unfortunately food stopped at 2pm, but they can offer basket meals at the price of £8.50. Simple selection but with my mother of 78, it wasn't ideal but we went with the flow. We paid an astonishing £36 for food and drinks for three. whilst ordering the drinks, some small talk from the barman/owner about a old mate coming down and that he'd been 'Heineken'd and probably feeling it later' was the bar mans choice of words whilst serving us and discussing his day with other punters. Great! We chose to sit in the court yard, sun trap and beautiful but unfortunately smokers were there. Other couples we're also informed of the late food basket ordering offered, some 20 minutes after us. Their food arrived within 10 minutes of them ordering. I then asked where our food was as it had been 48 minutes since ordering - It takes time to burn the sausages he replied! (my mom asked for well done sausages! not burnt to a crisp!) The meals arrived and to my shock, the content of the baskets of food was appalling! I asked for more chips as I had only 19 slim chips in the basket, yet the extras we asked for arrived within 5 minutes of complaining and asking for more.He thought it was so funny to make us wait 45 minutes for burnt sausages whilst clearing the plates away!Very disappointing to what seemed a good looking place! In summary, avoid if possible, as there are many other good food outlets in the area.

We stayed here for my partners birthday as a trip away. When we arrived everything was closed so we didn’t know where to go but the owners saw us out side looking lost and came to meet us. Advertised we thought we were going in the rooms across from the pub but no it turns out our room was on top of the pub. We did have our own entrance tho , wooden steps up the side of the pub. We were worried about noise so we said this to the person who met us but he assured us the pub wasn’t under our room. Room was lovely, clean, amazing little kitchen as we wanted but no instructions how to the the hob so we never used that. Continental breakfast wasn’t as expected, just some things in the fridge, pack of ham, pack of cheese slices, pack of 4 bagels and some butter and jam, no pan au chocolate as advertised and there were 2 yogurts in the fridge... 1 was out of date. Also there was a bottle of milk which smelled funny so i threw it out and i never bother with the bottle of orange juice. There were mini packets of breakfast cereals which was nice. Also no dvd as advertised so we were really disappointed in that as we brought some dvds with us for the evenings but thank god on the off chance I brought my hard drive which the tv was compatible. In the night We didn’t know that the barman lived in the room by ours and the banging of doors and loud talking outside our room was awful late and night and the pubs kitchen was underneath our room as you could here the chefs talking and singing and the dishwasher going and sounded like a washing machine or something at early hours of the morning. All this wasn’t good atall. Really disappointed in this aspect as we had very poor sleep. This is the reason why i have rated it what i did. I don’t think i would stay here again or if i did i would make sure i had a smaller room with no kitchen across the pubs carpark.

Had Sunday lunch here today with friends after having booked (our friends did this because they live here and we were visiting). The table wasn't ready when we arrived because there were other people sitting there - and then we heard them ordering their desserts, so we weren't impressed because this indicated a further delay. Still we had drinks at the bar while we waited. I ordered the roast beef which was very nice, but the roast potatoes were hardly roast at all, the Yorkshire pudding was over done and the gravy was extremely watery. On the plus side the waiter was very nice and friendly and the bar staff were helpful.

Great welcome from all the staff and they kept the kitchen open as we arrived outside the normal opening hours. Good value meals and a good selection. The rooms were clean and bright and the continental breakfast was a refreshing change from the greasy fry-up you normally get. The hot bread rolls cooked in the oven in the room with smoked cheese and ham was a great way to start the day. After a days walking it was great to sit in front of the open fire. Formerly the Black Horse, situated in a tiny village just off the A44, a couple of miles north-east of Chipping Norton, the Salford Inn reopened with its new name following a period of closure and internal refurbishment. It's light and airy inside, but retains a traditional feel. When I visited on a weekday lunchtime the place was completely empty, apart from staff, which was a shame as the new owners have obviously gone to a lot of effort in revitalising the pub and with a few more people in there could be a cracking atmosphere here. I enjoyed an excellent burger with smoked cheese and accompanied by superb, rather unusually shaped chips. The menu is fairly unambitious, but reasonably priced with a good range of main courses all around £11-12. They also have a range of ciabattas served with chips, available lunchtimes, all priced at £8.50. Ales on offer at the time of my visit were the excellent Shagweaver from North Cotswold and also Ruddle's Best (from Greene King).

Two had quiche lorraine - which was more like a burnt pizza; one had fish pie - very good; I had Steak Ale & Mushroom 'pie' - which was not a proper pie (enclosed in a pastry case) but a dish of filling with a piece of puff pastry on top) and had what could only be described as a lukewarm beef stew (including potato) in the dish with no gravy. Such a shame - definitely won't return. Gave 3 stars. But only because of the 1 good and 2 mediocre meals - sorry, have to be honest.

Small pub just off the main road. Delicious home cooked food, best leek & potato soup I have ever tasted. Very friendly landlady serving. Well worth a visit.

Arriving for lunch as 20 cyclists we are not always met with open arms at pubs. The Salford couldn't have tried harder. From original booking through to departure communications were prompt and helpful. We were welcomed warmly on arrival and food was flowing before the whole group had even sat down. Very efficient and friendly service. Great food prepared and presented really well.

We called in last night for a meal and a couple of pints and had a wonderful evening in a proper pub with the fire lit and lovely atmosphere that you would expect from such a place. The staff were charming and friendly, the food, we had pies delicious and well priced and the beer excellent, what else do you want from a proper pub.

Little to add to all the five-stars below. A gem of a place. Well done John and Alex. We passed a wet weekend here with great pleasure, and John got the telly sorted in time for us to watch "Endeavour".

I had been in email contact with the pub regarding reserving a table for Saturday lunchtime for a walking group. When we arrived there didn't seem to be any record of this. Luckily we were reasonably early so there were 2 tables that we could squeeze onto.

We've passed this pub many times over the years and were disappointed that it was closed when we eventually investigated. We were delighted to find that it was being done up and re-opened and at last have had the chance to try it. So good to find another closed village pub back in operation again. If you are travelling from Chipping Norton to Morton in Marsh or vice versa it is worth dropping in. It has been renovated to a very high standard and has a car park and some accommodation. We had a light lunch which was very good. The drinks were good and reasonably priced

Quiet start but very welcoming staff, no fuss and we were made to feel at home straight away . The food was of a very high, restaurant standard, more expensive than a pub but worth the extra money. Good attention to detail; we had a lovely couple of hours . The only gripe was the children s pizza seemed a bit of an Icelands special

Just had a fantastic Christmas lunch with our retirement development (19 people) the staff could not do enough, the food was excellent, atmosphere lovely, a fantastic place for lunch, or an organised party like we were. Not our 1st visit, and it surely will not be out last.

Friendly, accommodating, great local beers, ambiance, décor (the loos were nicely presented too!). Great outside area complete with Aunt Sally pitch & cant wait to go back again for a meal there after hearing great things about it. First impressions are awesome guys :)

During a circular walk from and to Chipping Norton we had booked a table for five for Sunday lunch. The greeting was friendly and we were shown our table. A little "snug" for 5 but not too bad and at a window.

I used to like the neglected old pub, unchanged since the old king died. But this newly transformed version is probably going to see a lot more of me.

This is a lovely pub, just as a local should be. The owner is very experienced in the hospitality industry and it shows. The welcome is warm and the Hook Norton beers are well kept. Where they knock the ball out of the park is the food. Fabulous home made generously portioned dishes. Just go, it’s a gem of a place.

Delicious food and cocktails! The alcohol was quite strong and definitely worth the price. Food was amazing, great selection on the menu and everything we ordered came back cooked perfectly. I would highly recommend a visit.

A nice coffee shop situated in the town centre and very popular with locals. They specialise in cakes so the choice of savoury mains is a little limited. Service is brisk.

We went here to get a little desert as we have been to this cafe before and saw it had quite a good range of gluten free options. They didn’t have much left in stock so we were lucky to get what we got.The gluten free cookies were delicious, tasted really fresh and like they were homemade. Also the cake was really lovely too and tasty. They clearly list the allergens of the product on the screen protector thing behind the cakes. Also tell them about any allergies when ordering.I believe their menu is 100% vegan too.The toilets were really clean too.

Our research paid off, ‘tapas’ suggests Spanish style bites however you’ll be met with a great variety of European, Asian & traditional British lite portions, we ordered 3 each plus a side which was spot on & allowed 6 tastes per couple. Add great local beers, we had their own IPA, very busy but the way the dishes came to the table as they were cooked made for a grazing style of very relaxed dining very highly recommend this place but book before hand.
