Nice place but the noise from upstairs was so Lound and it was like someone banging and running from one end of the room to another really Lound above our heads so wasn't quite to enjoy our tea and cake otherwise ok but noise really off putting

My 12 year old went for his first day out on the town with his mate. Just saw his first use of his bank card .. £2.80 for a take away can of coke . What a shame they have to rip off kids !!

Undoubtedly the best cakes in the world, they are divine but ridiculously overpriced. £7.70 for a cake and coffee when other cafes in Witney charge less is totally unacceptable. The staff are lovely and friendly but the cafe itself is tired, dirty and run down and needs some of the money they earn from the overpriced cakes spent on it. Lower your prices and treat the cafe to a very necessary refurbishment.

The food and service were great but the loos were disgusting. Black mould round the loo, basin and skirting boards that had obviously built up over a long time. They might have had a wipe down occasionally but have never been deep cleaned. Made for a bad experience

The service was good. The chocolate cake looked very good but was very sweet. A slightly darker version would have been a lot better. It also wasn't overly clean, the floor had a lot of crumbs on it.

The atmosphere is quiet and relax,lots of space and good for family and friends gathering. However,the brownie was way too sweet for me.I hope your cafe would have some keto brownie options in the future ,that would be a bonus for my future visit to the UK.

The cakes were huge but not very nice. I had coffee and walnut cake which was filled with and covered with over-sweet artificial-tasting goo. Hugely overpriced.

Very disappointed with a dime bar brownie purchased from Burford yesterday. Was suspicious when I couldn't see any dime bar on the top but after eating about a third, there wasn't any in it either. Are you cutting ingredients to save money because you can't call it a dime bar brownie if it doesn't contain dime bar?? So disappointed as this was my favourite.

Excellent food and coffee, fabulous staff, slightly cramped back room. From the sickliest traybake to coffee cake hunter's had a slice of anything to choose from and all were delectable, generously sliced and reasonably priced. The coffee was tasty, service was familiar even on my first visit, we will be returning and spreading the word!

The staff is really friendly. Good service. Unfortunately me and my partner were disappointed with the cakes we bought. The vegan brownie was way too sweet. The chocolate cake was burned. Shame about that. We had a few bites and left. Waste of money.

I thought the service was bordering on rude! No charisma, not even a smile or welcome and when I ordered an Americano the girl simply said “Milk?” followed by an weary “hot or cold?”. I felt such a nuisance and won’t be returning

We enjoyed our stop here and had a good coffee and cake. Despite being big eaters we found the cakes were a little to generous in size, for some a good thing but for once I could not finish the delicious cake I had. great watering hole.

A lovely little place - and indeed it is little. It can be a bit crowded and there are windows to look outside only in front for a few tables. The shortbread I had was a bit too sweet for my taste but otherwise it was excellent and well baked. Definitely a worth of your visit and time!

Just the most incredible place. A real gem in Witney and the wider Cotswolds. The cookies brownies cakes and deep dish cookies are the best and most original I’ve ever had. The tastes are out of this world. The delivery is fantastic and the cafes are cute and perfect. Love everything about it!

The selection of cakes here is remarkable. There were lots of chocolate bar themed cakes and cookies (we had a kinder cake and a chocolate orange cake), but our son had a flapjack that he loved. I can't think of a cafe that I have been to in the UK before with such a wide selection of cakes. Coffee, hot chocolate etc were good too.

Nice cakes and coffee however in need of decorating as very shabby and the toilets are disgusting...

Does what it says on the sign - if you don't want cakes cross the road :) But if you're in a wheelchair then you need a helper - there's no ramp to get over the step in the doorway. They did offer help and the passage is too narrow for anyone to help and hold the door open. Didn't bother checking for an accessible toilet.

Wide selection of cakes, brownies and cookies. Pity they choose not to be dog friendly otherwise we'd have been able to enjoy our cakes out of the rain and spent more money on drinks.

Great refreshments. Tea served was original tea leaves with an egg timer!!! Victoria sponge was tasty. But prices were rather high!! Such a shame.

Fabulous cake, always a special treat for us! And today they went above and beyond to deliver on my behalf to an elderly friend, just out of hospital, whose residential home is not easily accessible. I haven't actually visited the cafe, but I ordered cake from them to be delivered during the pandemic, so I'll be reviewing that. Absolutely delicious cake! It arrived packaged in individual, labelled, little cardboard boxes which was very sweet. Each slice was also wrapped in grease proof paper to keep it fresh and make getting it out of the box less messy. Loved it so much that I recommended it to my mum when she wanted a treat for my dad. They used the nationwide delivery and the cake turned up fresh and was very much enjoyed. I only wish that they used less soya in their recipes so that my mum could enjoy some too. Currently I believe that there is only one soya free option among their cakes, which is a shame for soya allergy sufferers because this cafe really knows how to make good cake!

This place is popular so be prepared to queue to get inside but its well worth the Wait!You can sit inside and enjoy the cakes with a drink or you can takeaway the cake which is presented in it own individual box with label. There is lots of choice and all of them sound wonderful, we opted for the Gold Bar Blondie and the Maltesers Tiffin, both were amazing. Well worth the £3 each.

Had a wonderful surprise today when we received a surprise delivery at home: two slices of cake from Hunters Cake Café, ordered by our daughter-in-law. Cake was great and it was so good to have it as a treat in the midst of the lockdown.

If I’m ever really in the mood for a nice slice of cake this is my go to place. The cakes here are sooo good. And it’s nice you can take it away and enjoy it at home too. Love the fact there is also a new cake for each month keeping for new options/ choices. Delicious cakes!

Delicious cake and soup that came with mini bread rolls. Would definitely recommend if looking for somewhere to eat in Witney or for a break that's not in a chain shop.

Nice vintage theme to the place. I had the Salami salad (WITH ADDED CHICKEN) which was quite honestly the tastiest salad I have had from anywhere before. I would definitely recommend it if you go.

Light lunch here was excellent , sourdough toastie and savoury scone were generously sized and very tasty. Great tea and coffee. Speedy service though the whole cafe was occupied and very pleasant staff. Only unhappy that we didn’t have space to test the delicious selection of cakes and tray bakes. So glad we happened upon this cafe and will be back when we next visit Witney.

This is the second time I’ve visited this lovely quaint Tearoom. Staff where welcoming and friendly, the food delicious and freshly made. The best is a gorgeous pot of tea with a little egg timer on the side to judge the strength of your tea, nice touch.

Good food and good service and they always wipe the tables !

However, we waited near 30 minutes for two hot drinks and a slice of cake. When we complained we were told they were busy pretty abruptly by the waitress as she dumped our order on our table and left. Meanwhile everyone ordering to go was getting served there and then. At least tell your customers it’s going to be a while or better yet if youre busy and service to go orders straight away just serve sit in patrons the same way so they don’t get pushed to the back of the queue each time someone walks through the door.

Pleasant cafe and cake shop situated on Witney High Street. Friendly service and excellent cakes and light lunches. Nice to find an independent with all these things. Worth a visit. (see below)

Enjoyed our eggs and bacon on toast, best for a long time and so reasonable. Also fascinated by the egg timer for my green tea - never come across that at any other cafe! A delightful place to enjoy wonderful home-made cakes. Third visit and shall come again when in Witney. Well done...!

First timers, all okay, will go again.

My wife and I come here on a regular basis and we can't get enough of this place. It's a perfect café. The food is delicious. I've tried most dishes on the menu (typical café food - i.e. not dinner) which has a generous choice of dishes and hot drinks. By far their bacon and maple syrup pancakes are unrivalled and the best you will find in Witney. They do great egg dishes and the ciabattas are also quality and plentiful. The prices are also very reasonable for the area also. The staff are great and efficient and bring food and drinks out to the table so quickly. The cakes at the till always look good too (and usually taste just as nice). There's plenty of seating too, just be mindful of the peak times where it can get quite busy (i.e. Saturday lunchtimes). If I had to recommend one thing to Hunters, it would be to perhaps use some of their seating areas for comfier seating.Thank you to the café for doing such a sterling job and long may it continue - I will certainly keep supporting you!

Took visiting family for cake and coffee and I had your hot chocolate. The selection of home made cakes are just fabulous, I have been before and always love your cake of the month but I opted on this occasion for the coffee and walnut, my guests has Bakewell slice and the Victoria sponge.We all declared them to be fabulous!1 moan from my husband was the coffee didn’t live up to the the wonderful cake, he felt it was a bit watery and you need a much better machine if you are to compete with the excellent coffee shops popping up in Witney.Still gave it full marks as I didn’t have the coffee and the cakes were so amazingand I loved my hot chocolate.I can’t wait to come back Definitely recommended if your in Witney, never seen such a selection of yummy home made cake, love Hunters Cake Cafe ❤️❤️❤️

Lovely cafe in the heart of Witney village Everything we tasted was wonderful. Plenty of choices as well. We were positively surprised from the gluten free choices. Friendly staff and very eager to satisfy our requests. Plenty of space as well on two floors. Overall great experience. Would definitely visit again. Bear in mind the opening times as well as the fact that is self service. Price wise, very affordable.
