The Three Horseshoes Inn in Carmarthenshire

Was going to write a review singing the praises of this place. First time I’ve been, delicious burger and pretty friendly staff. Only problem was the burger came with the most miserable pinch of salad I’ve ever seen, and after very apologetically asking for a little more was provided with a salad bowl. Delighted with my meal apon paying realised I’d actually been charged for the salad bowl on top. For the sake of a pinch more salad, I’ve left deflated. It bugs me when restaurants don’t apriciate the significance it is to some people to come out for a meal, and realistically their profits aren’t based on the food provided but on the happiness to come back and buy more. Realistically the chance of me coming back is much less, and instead of tipping heavily to include the cost of the salad and a gesture I left nothing.

Fortunately this is our local and how lucky are we,booked a table for two and giving it 10 out 10 Food delicious drinks lovely and service spot on. Would recommend booking if you’re going for food.

I went there with family and deliberately chose a table with no reservation on it - they tend to have reserved tables from 6 onwards. We sat there for an hour and a half on our unreserved table, buying many drinks. At 6:05 a waitress slapped a little reserved sign down on our table saying it was reserved from 6:15. I had wondered why the manager man who had appeared around 5:40 had repeatedly stared at me in our out of the way seat - it had seemed unusual and was repetitive. It had obviously been forgotten to reserve the table and instead of having character enough to explain a mistake, he had sent a young girl to do his bidding. She had plonked the reserved sign on our table rudely ('This table is reserved' was all she said before walking swiftly away); but it wasn't even her fault - she had obviously been nominated for the job by her 'brave' boss. I have been going to this pub for almost 50 years - I have never encountered such rudeness in all that time. It tends to change hands often and I hope it does again soon so that I can continue my long association with a pub I truly enjoy being in.

Four of us had dinner here Friday night. We haven’t been since the pub changed hands, in fact a good few years ago. It was difficult to choose from the extensive menu. I could have chosen six or seven items. We all had mains. Two of us had sea bass and it was really nice. The boys had pies and they looked delicious. The puddings went down well too with the boys. It’s a homely, comfortable pub, so relaxing. When we visit next year, we will definitely be back.

Could not recommend this lovely village pub highly enough! Very extensive menu choice and superb food. Very friendly and welcoming team. Also well worth a visit to the Cenarth Falls if you are in the area.

We visited the pub on our first day of our holiday in Wales. We walked in asking if they were still serving food, as it was in between lunch and dinner. After being told yes, we then had to ask about where to sit, we weren’t made to feel welcome at all. After ordering and receiving our food no body checked to see if everything was ok? Food was ok but nothing special, we just ate quickly and left. Unfortunately we all felt disappointed and wouldn’t be returning.

Staying in the area and looking for somewhere nice for an evening meal we came across the Inn from the excellent reviews on here. It certainly lived up to them and we had a lovely time. Staff are friendly, food is delicious and it’s a lovely atmosphere. We didn’t book but would recommend you do as it’s only small and very popular. Thanks for a lovely meal!

Spotted this place after a visit to Cenarth Falls. The food was superb & the service excellent. Lovely landlady who made us feel very welcome as she found time to chat.

My wife and I Went for a Sunday lunch we enjoyed it immensely the service was great also the food was great lunch hot and only £14.95 for 2 courses the chocolate fudge cake was to die for the staff were very helpful and pleasant would highly recommend will definitely use again when back in the area

We found The Three Horseshoes by chance on a wet and miserable day. Although it's obviously a popular local, when walking in, we felt very welcomed by both host and other pubgoers. The pub was warm, friendly, a buzz of conversation, excellent service and the meal we had was out of this world. My husband had an excellent - and large - ham salad and I had a steak cooked perfectly how I like it. And an excellent Malbec, too. It's dog-friendly, too. We would recommend this wonderful establishment wholeheartedly, and have every intention of returning later in the year.

Our first time visiting for lunch (even though we live locally) on a wet and cold Friday. Big choice of menu, and nothing unavailable, and something to satisfy all tastes. Whilst I had a Veggie Burger, the steaks went down very well with the rest of my party. Very friendly and helpful staff, good selection of beers and soft drinks. The pub itself was cosy, snug, popular and doggie friendly. Clearly a local / popular meeting spot as lots of people came and went whilst we were there. Only disappointment for me was that my fries and onion rings were cold when they came to the table, (I think my meal waited for the steaks), I have to have my food hot so I did tell the waiting staff and without hesitation or comment this was quickly rectified by the Kitchen and I had no other issues. Even though generous portions, there was still room for pudding and coffees and the Biscoff cheesecake was super! Definitely will return and likely to bring the dogs in the summer as nice space outside to sit and eat.

We booked an evening meal for 3 adults on 25th August and sat outside as we had our 2 dogs with us. (We were offered a table inside if we wanted to eat a little later) We sat in a covered area which was very cosy and comfortable. Two of us ordered well done steaks and the owner took time to explain how they would be cooked. They were the best steaks we had eaten for a very long time and reasonably priced too. The puds were delicious too. The staff were very efficient and friendly and we enjoyed a lovely relaxing meal. We will certainly be back again next time we are on holiday.

We stayed at nearby cottages and called in on the off chance on out first night. They were incredibly kind and fitted us in. It was that good we booked for 3 of nights we stayed. The burgers and steaks were wonderful. Thank you for making our holiday a little more special. All your staff are a credit to you.

Ate here with my wife and three children (14, 12 & 9) twice in August 2021 and we had a fantastic meal on both occasions. Food and service were excellent, staff were polite, friendly and accommodating. All our meals were excellent quality, cooked and prepared perfectly and were excellent value for money. As well as great steaks and burgers the puddings were HUGE and delicious.

Went here on a recent family trip to Cardigan. Booked and requested the Tomahawk. What a great meal. From arrival we were looked after in the back room (great decor and pictures) children’s meals were good value and quality. Proper good food and great service. Keeping us informed about how long our (huge) Tomahawk would take to cook. Great puddings enjoyed by the kids (we couldn’t fit one in) Places like this deserve to do well. Cenarth is a lovely place to have a walk round too.

Two words: separate fryer. For any of my fellow celiacs you will know how happy this makes us, the staff were knowledgeable and accommodating for gluten free and there were loads of options.Genuinely delicious food (I had some welsh beef) and really friendly staff, next time I'm back in this part of Wales I will definitely visit again!

I don’t eat meat so wasn’t sure about eating here as it looked online very meat oriented so called in to check menu. Was pleased to find they do have some non-meat options so booked in for a few days later and was very pleased we did. Very friendly atmosphere and good quality, nicely cooked food.

My partner and I stayed up the road from here in an air bnb and had food here on our first night. Shaun and the team are so welcoming and friendly. We are staying nearby for a long weekend and booked a table here for dinner on our first night. It was absolutely lovely. The food was delicious and the service was great! Shaun and the team were warm and welcoming. Would absolutely recommend! We even went back the next day for a drink!!

After another Welsh lockdown we visited with bubbled friends to catch up with birthdays and anniversaries we had missed out on.Food is highly recommended with all four of us having steaks and all plates cleared, not a morsel left.You feel totally safe, in these strange times which is a credit to Shaun and his team.We all had steaks, flatiron and Tbone, all cooked to perfection with sauce, salad and onion rings. This is the only local restaurant that you can guarantee a steak cooked exactly as you want it, best quality beef with nothing left on your plate except your knife and fork.For food, ambience, service and friendlyness the Horseshoes just can't be beaten.

After months of lockdown we decided this was our first choice of local pub/restaurant to visit, and it was good. The pub has been praised by local health inspectors for going beyond what is required in the current Covid19 situation. My wife went for the veggy burger, and she loved it, there was and option to have it as a vegan. I went for the 16oz flat iron steak and it was cooked perfectly. We will be returning.

This is a fantastic place to eat especially when the manager had covid restrictions in place the food and service are superb would highly recommend if in the area we will always make sure we visit again when in the area.

This is a fantastic place - the warmth of the landlord, the variety of the menu, the quality of all the food, especially the meat. The landlord explained this is down to the way they cook and rest the meat, which makes all the difference. This inside space is well-spaced and COVID secure, but you probably do need to book, there's only a certain number of tables - book about 1 week ahead by phoning them. Easy to find; convenient carpark; a minute's walk from the falls themselves. And a really warm welcome for tourists in the area, in the heart of a small village, this was the best place we dined at in a week in the Cardigan area in August.

Given the Covid restrictions I felt at ease with the managers organisation. Food,service and staff were superb. Always enjoyed my times at this wonderful pub/restaurant.

We enjoyed a lovely meal here, the steaks are delicious! Covid disciplines are really well laid out and the staff do as much as possible to work round the restrictions. Highly recommended in a beautiful part of Wales.

Came here for a 50th birthday celebration. The welcome from the staff was lovely, very happy and chatty. We chose different options from the menu and all meals were cooked beautifully and very tasty. Can't recommend enough. We do come here often, and never had a bad meal.

Had booked but was rather early. It was just beginning to get busy but we were given a table in the restaurant part of the pub.We usually eat in the bar which is great but went a bit classy. today. The atmosphere was still lovely and relaxed. My friend and I both chose beef, (which tender and delicious )and it was accompanied by roast potatoes and extremely tasty mash,Yorkshire pudding, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower and gravy.We shared a pudding of a large waffle, ice cream and maple syrup.
