Great Carvery on Sunday. All food cooked fresh and plenty of it

Lovely place. Delicious Sunday carvery. Disappointed there were no gluten/dairy free desserts. Very good service.

First visit as a result of recommendation by a friend. Enjoyed an excellent, eat as much as you want, Sunday lunch carvery. Choice of 4 meats and a wide selection of vegetables: all cooked to perfection. Very well organised and friendly professional service in all respects. Great atmosphere reflective of a popular village pub. Managed to find last space in car park for our 14:00 booking although plenty of space when we left at 15:30. Limited parking in street outside pub if needed although this would reduce to single flow for passing traffic. Desserts were also delicious. Can recommend treacle pudding or bread pudding with custard.

Popped in midweek at 8.30pm for a late bite as the kitchen was still open. Decent food, great friendly staff, good selection of beer and ciders and some tasty whisky.

The three horseshoes does an excellent Sunday carvery. A choice of four roast meats along with a help yourself selection of Yorkshire puddings, veg (choice of seven different types) roast potatoes, gravy and sauces. You could even go back up for seconds. Also they have a menu of real ales on tap What made this place really special was the happy and welcoming reception and customer service I would’ve given it five stars but some idiot parked in front of me, not in a designated parking space, such that we couldn’t exit the car park afterwards. Landlord, thank you very much for finding the culprit but blame the owner of the black citroen for not getting you five stars.

Fantastic Sunday carvery, great food and great service. To full up for pudding but they looked so good we took it away to have at home later. Lovely friendly staff. So good I have booked to return with family in a couple of weeks time.

Visited for the first time on Sunday 9th of June and will 100% return in the near future. I am very fussy about where I eat, however the food and service at the three horseshoes was absolutely perfect. The sirloin melted in your mouth and the selection of vegetables was plentiful and delicious. The staff put me at ease straight away were friendly, helpful and clearly love what they do.

Went with a few good friends for the Sunday lunch. Not our first rodeo as we tend to stick to what we love. Once again the food was first rate, with even a choice of which end of the roast I wanted. I spread all four meats over two plates with a selection of vegetables. The only difference was I had pudding, which was really nice. Still can't recommend this place enough. For the love of god book this early, you'll need to.

We arrived at this pub only to have the warmest welcome we have had. The staff were really friendly and made us feel more than welcome. My wife is a celiac and was catered for brilliantly. The food was fantastic and we as a family will definitely be returning. 5 stars from all of us !!!!

Got to be one of the best Sunday Carvery venues in England. Superb food in copious quantity. Smiling, helpful, friendly staff. A lovely country pub venue in a charming village. Even the toilets are spotlessly clean. For me, perfect.

Quite possibly the best Sunday carvery in Britain. All surrounded by smiling and friendly staff, and very happy customers. This was my first visit, from thirty miles away, and it definitely won't be my last. I ate two plates full, making it amazing value too. Thoroughly recommended.

What a fantastic pub! We'd seen the reviews and peaked at the website menu so all was looking good before we had even arrived. A couple of us are vegetarians so it was fab to see a selection of options for starters and mains which would allow for repeated visits without having to keep going for the same option. Portion sizes were generous (not complaining!) and prices were very reasonable. Food looked, smelt and tasted wonderful. All topped off by a complimentary choc which was a nice touch. Cathy was our attentive host and she was zipping around taking care of everyone - came back a few times throughout to make sure all was in order and got the balance of gaps between courses just right - Thanks Cathy! Looking back after we'd gone, I was also struck by how friendly everyone was, Cathy greeted us in the car park, a nicotine-fixer greeted us as we made our way to the entrance (and told us we wouldn't be disappointed - clue: we weren't!) and the bar clientele were all cheery as we made our way to the restaurant area. The Jack Russell at the bar seemed particularly happy to see us and got a tickle for their trouble (although the owner did say that the expectation was everyone had a dog biscuit in their pocket - but hey, we were all glad of the attention!). Same on the way out - everyone happy and parted like the Red Sea (including a man mountain who I swear has a cloud forming around his head) to let us get past where we had a chat with the dogs again (having multiplied by then). I felt a group hug coming on but decided to leave that until next time as we'd spotted their Sunday lunch included a nut-roast. Top place, top service, top food and top people - we'll return.

First time eating here in a very long time. The all-you-can-eat Sunday carvery did not disappoint, but one trip/plate was more than enough. Definitely book ahead!

One of the best Sunday carverys in the area and our go to when we don't want to cook or a special occasion. Ben and the team are always very welcoming. The food is delicious and the price is very competitive.

Burns night January 2024. Have had lunch here serval times and never disappointed. Tonight being a special celebration of Burns night was no exception. A truly fabulous evening, marvellous food, (best haggis ever) with a great atmosphere, two pipers playing, Burns poems read by the Drum Major and all of us diners singing traditional Scottish songs. Service was, as always very good so altogether a very pleasurable evening. Well done Karen and the team, we will be back to sample the Sunday carvery.

We had a lovely carvery here. Food was fantastic, fresh, plentiful and very tasty. We were told we could go back for seconds of everything if we wished but fully loaded first time round we didn't need to. I had to make the most of the pudding so had the lemon cheesecake which was awesome! The staff were really nice and around if you needed them but not overwhelming. An absolutely perfect meal all round, we will definitely be back.

The review is based on two lunch visits one with my daughter and one wife the wife. Visit with daughter was terrific with great food that is aove normal pub fare. I had kofte to start and lamb rump for main. Lamb is my favourite meat and I was not disappointed with the generous portion of lamb rump cooked pink as requested served with champ and greens - delicious. My daughter had a starter I can't recall but it was good and followed with chicken breast in a stilton sauce which was excellent. On the strength of this visit, I went with my wife and whilst the meal was again very good although not quite matching the first visit. Despite just one server (The Landlady?), service was friendly and quick and we were amazed that she was able to cope so well with a fair few tables to look after. I again had the lamb as it was so good on the first visit. This time however the lamb was a little overdone and definitely not pink as requested but still delicious. The champ was devoid of spring onion and quite dry so was lacking in the generous milk and butter normally associated with champ so was really just dryish mash rather than champ. My wife's prawn cocktail was good and she really enjoyed the smashed burger which was tasty and moist (and messy to eat!) We will return as I'm keen to try some of the other items on the menu that sound delicious and hope they nail the 'champ'.

We had a lovely meal in a great pub. The atmosphere was fantastic for a mid week meal. The staff were really attentive, the food was fantastic and we really had a great night.

Drove through the village and saw a sign advertising burger chips and a pint for a tenner - can’t go wrong. I wasn’t expecting much from a sleepy village pub. I walked in with my family of 4 to a busy and lively pub full of atmosphere. Food was fantastic and service was quick and friendly. Often look for good places to eat and can’t fault this pub at all. Will be back next Wednesday for more!! I have heard from a regular and they’ve said the Sunday roast carvery is to die for. Plenty of pints to choose from and plenty of pints sunk after the meal.

We had an amazing carvery today. We have been meaning to try the pub for Sunday lunch and this was our first chance. There was a choice of 4 meats all carved to order. My daughter loved the rare beef and especially the crackling and my husband the slow cooked pork. The Yorkies were that nice mix of crispy on the outside and lovely and soft on the inside. Veg selection was first class. I had the vegetarian nut roast. I normally avoid them at pubs as they tend to be rather dry but this was lovely finished with pumpkin seeds and dried cranberries and came with it's own little vege gravy. Dessert was so yummy. I went for the most calorific option of toffee profiteroles and so worth the extra calories! Staff were really friendly. My son is in a wheelchair and though an old pub they made sure we had easy access to our table. Really cosy pub with a lovely real fire and lovely and Christmassy. Highly recommend a visit x

I found The 3 Horseshoes to be newly furnished clean and in good and comfortable order. There was adequate parking on the premises. The member of staff that was running the bar and the restaurant on her own, was good natured, professional and added to the friendly atmosphere. I could not fault the quality or price of the food.

Excellent find. We didn't book, we just turned up for lunch on the off chance. It was busy and there was a group just about to sit down for lunch which we thought would probably scupper our chances. Not a bit of it. we ordered a starter and main course each and it was quickly delivered and for a pub lunch was excellent. We will certainly be returning.

My husband and I went with our friends on Saturday evening, table of 4 for dinner, celebrating a birthday. It was a last minute booking as the place our friends originally booked had to cancelled as the kitchen lost their gas. Our friends rebooked at the Three Horseshoes and we were all pleased they had done so 😄 The staff behind the bar were welcoming and friendly. Great customer service. The food was delicious and very good portion sizes. I had the gammon with egg, chips and peas, great flavour and well presented. We will definitely come back to visit again, especially to try out more of the menu. Thank you for fitting us in last minute!

Went out it a group and we all enjoyed the srvice and food was good.

What a find! A village pub tucked away with a two mile drive from the main road offering a Sunday carvery and on arrival the carpark was full ! We had booked the third sitting which did make me wonder would the food be dry from sitting about? I was proved totally wrong. Everything tasted fresh , was piping hot and when we had our meat carved , we were told we were welcome to return for seconds including the meat with choice of turkey beef gammon and pork with the most delicious crackling! I chose the beef and turkey. Both were cooked perfectly to my preference . There were the usual accompaniments of Yorkshire puds roasties and stuffing With gravy . Plus we think 5 vegetables which again were fresh and all home cooked. We all had deserts which which were well portioned and presented followed by coffee. One of the coffees was not as hot as the others but this was quickly rectified. We cannot fault anything about the visit. The staff were friendly and helpful. The bar area was buzzing with laughter and groups of people sat chatting. Drinks were not over priced with a good selection of wines. I would quite happily travel the hour again to eat there. Im sure you would need to book as all the tables were filled . We will definitely return

One complaint.Food is to good you just need to keep going back to make sure it really is that good. Service was great Thank you haven't enjoyed a meal out like today in a long time.

Not been before, but will go again. A traditional carvery with 4 'properly' cooked meats, a multitude of fresh vegetables all cooked perfectly, attentive staff and priced reasonably. It was nice to be able to choose what and how much you wanted so that no one was overfaced. Would recommend. *****

Great food reasonably priced, good atmosphere and excellent staff

We visited The Three Horseshoes for lunch on route to where we were staying on holiday and were not disappointed. Before booking we emailed to ask a few questions and received a prompt reply. Upon arrival the locals were very friendly and recommended we take a look at the specials board,which offered 2 courses for just £10.00. We did and ordered the following. Oven baked salmon and sausage and mash. Both dishes were served piping hot, nicely presented and tasted delicious. For desserts we chose apple crumble tart and cheesecake. Once again both desserts were excellent. Along with a soft drink and a decent pint of ale the bill came to just £25.20 which we thought was unbelievable value for money. The service was friendly and efficient from start to finish. We would not hesitate to return or recommend. Thank you to the whole team at The Three Horseshoes for getting our holiday off to the perfect start.

A recent find for us. Great parking (hubby is disabled) and we’ve always been warmly welcomed. Food from a varied and interesting menu is freshly cooked and arrives piping hot.

Lovely food and service. The only downside for some people might be that it can be a bit noisy as the pub visitors watch sports, which can be a bit louder at times when you try to have a conversation during dinner. It wasn't an issue for us, we will definitely return.

We hired Ben from the horseshoes to do an outside bar for us in our village hall which is quite a small trek from Graveley. Ben was present and set up and ready to go before I arrived at the hall, and he had everything you would want from a bar. Ben was polite, friendly and incredibly helpful. He helped me and my family set up the hall, with tables and chairs, etc and also helped pack away at the end of the night even offering to help load my car. Ben is awesome! I’ve never visited the horseshoes pub before but i certainly will be now and I would highly recommend using their bar for external events.

We had a lovely Sunday roast the meat was lovely. But soooo disappointing that they changed us for a child’s meal and all she had was one potato and one Yorkshire. We wasn’t going to get her anything then the chef said why don’t you just take a potato and Yorkshire. Free a little bit cheated really. £8 for that. No I didn’t want something but £8

Nice friendly pub with excellent food. There is a small step into the pub at the back, but I'm not sure if they have a ramp as my partner can manage a small step. If you use a wheelchair or a mobility scooter check first.

Amazing food, amazing staff and a beautiful place for any occasion. Events are held here quite often to like beer festivals where the pints are fantastic.

We had a lovely afternoon with friends. The pub is spacious and airy. There is a pool table and 8 seated round bench like tables that are undercover, smoking allowed. The staff were friendly. We had the afternoon tea which I recommend.

We had a really nice Sunday carvery lunch with family, friendly and helpful staff and good home cooked food.

Fabulous food. Stopped off for lunch today and was very impressed. Order of a special menu. 2 course for £10. How they can do it for that price is beyond me! Sea bass fillet with a delicious lemon butter and garlic and prawn sauce. The prawns were huge and amazing. Served with crushed new potatoes and green beans. All delicious. Great dessert too.

Booked dinner for 6 family members to celebrate my husbands birthday on Wednesday evening. Food for all of us was delicious, not one problem. Service was excellent, one lady, dealing with a very busy restaurant, who served us in good time with a smile. All of the food was cooked perfectly, well done chef…we had a great evening and will definitely recommend and be back ourselves.

Went there with family to have the carvery. It was so delicious. The pork was falling apart because of how tender it was. You can go up again if you want more. Everything was cooked to perfection. Excellent price too.

First visit in a long time. Visited with my son and three grandchildren. Excellent service and the food was good, and so was the ice cream! Our new favourite local.

Had a lovely Sunday roast dinner with the food being very good. The pub was fairly busy & I would have rated this 5 stars but we put off at the end as whilst we were eating our desserts, we were asked to vacate our table because another group of people had booked a table. This we felt was very unprofessional, rude & totally unnecessary. A more better approach would have been to have quiet word after everybody had finished their meal to say to us that another booking was imminent would have been polite & professional. It made all feeling disappointed when we left.

Dropped in without reservation and was accommodated. Food and drink were good. Thanks and will call again.

Nice pub wonder staff great atmosphere

Having recently had a family get together at the three horseshoes Gravely we have to say it's a long long time since we have had such brilliant service and a beautiful meal . There was twelve in the party and the meal flowed from starters to sweet without a single hitch. Sadly we do not live nearby otherwise we would use this lovely pub more often. Many thanks to all the staff it went be long before can revisit.

I had heard good reviews from family but I went on Mother's day where it was a roast and dessert. I can't therefore comment on their variety. It seemed overcrowded and we were in the bar area and was asked to vacate our seats as I guess they were booked solid all day. My sister booked the restaurant but it was one of those "as many plates" fares, which is not really my style. The staff were friendly but clearly busy. The picture showing the rear outside has changed. It is now covered, with lights and heating. The dinner was a little too well seasoned for me and I guess because of the volume they were catering for, the components showed characteristics of mass production. I don't want to be rude as they were obviously trying. People like me eat out for a culinary adventure, not because I'm starving and require several helpings.

We had our first carvery here today. Wow it was so good, amazing food, lovely friendly helpful staff and superb value. It was all you can eat and that even included the meat. Have never had that anywhere else before. We will definitely be going back again

Haddock and chips and peas, pretty safe you would have thought. The chips and peas were all right, but I have never seen a smaller piece of haddock. What there was was overcooked and smothered in mounds of solid batter that shattered over the floor when invasion by fork was attempted. Not a good advert for continued business.

Fantastic Lamb steak from the specials board, cooked to perfection! Great real ales too.

Having lived in the area for over 23 years I cannot believe this was our first visit, least to say it will certainly not be our last. Absolutely delicious. We had the Sunday carvery and the choice was brilliant - beef (cooked to perfection) gammon, pork or turkey (and not limited to just one). Something to meet everyones requirements. The staff were welcoming and friendly and nothing was too much effort. Highly recommend this hidden gem of a pub and we will be returning to sample more of their menu very soon.
