This is a fantastic find. We decided to go out for an evening meal. When we arrived before our slotted time, we walked in to a great atmosphere, the bar was full and we had some of their own brewed ale before going through to the restaurant seating area. The menu had a great selection to choose from and the produce was fresh and well presented. Can we say a great thank you to Christina our host for the evening, you made it fun and enjoyable. We will be back for another evening and may even get across to the brewery and shop.

So we popped in for a quick one , but stayed a good amount of time . We made friends with Digby and Betsy , but I’m sure that was because I was sitting by the biscuit jar 🫙. The Locals were friendly and willing to chat especially Digbys owners. After having few drinks we decided to stay and have a meal as well . The food was delicious and very tasty so compliments to the chef .

Stopped in this Saturday eve, just after 5pm. Found outside table, stood and looked at pizza menu, then went to order. Told VERY rudely 'can't you see we are closed, that's why the right hand side is down' well, no it is not obvious when cooking and left window is open, signs say open to 8.30pm, and others were eating. Luckily had not ordered drinks, so left. Not the first time have found servers rude, used to be a treat going to daggers, not any more. Will not go back.

Having done a Google search for intimate wedding venues we stumbled across the Three Daggers. When we visited, we fell in love with the location and knew this is where we wanted to get married. From the beginning we’ve had excellent communication in the planning process and want to specifically mention Jackie Brimblecombe and Ebram Fares who were able to ensure that everything has run smoothly from the off - thank you! We stayed at Hillside Cottage which is the perfect place to stay with excellent facilities including hot tub, plunge pool, sauna and steam room, fire pit etc. We also hosted friends and family on the Friday and the kitchen is perfectly equipped with everything we needed. There is ample space for everyone to spread out. We also had family staying in the three rooms above the Three Daggers pub and also at Orchard Cottage, also owned by the pub. We have eaten at the pub for lunch on several occasions and always enjoy the food. Service by staff is excellent! Hillside Cottage is next to the Spa Barn where we chose to have our ceremony, it was the perfect size and setting and we had our wedding drinks and photos in the beautiful garden to follow. Following the ceremony we enjoyed a fantastic wedding breakfast in the Brewery. The food and service provided by the staff at the venue was excellent and thoroughly enjoyed by all. The children attending particularly enjoyed playing on the park outside! The staff could not have been more helpful whilst we were here and always had a smile on their faces! Thank you all and we can’t wait to come back and stay! Charlotte and Pete

I had a lovely meal here a few weeks ago so decided to come back with my husband and friends. Unfortunately, the service was slow, must have waited a good 5 minutes or more for a drink from the bar when we walked in. Cocktail ( Cosmopolitan) was disgusting- not sure what he made it with but it was most un- pleasant! Our meals were all really good, but when paying £28 for lamb and not even a vegetable included, it makes the plate look very bare! I’m sure a bit of veg on the plate would look nicer, and better customer satisfaction for the price of the meal? We gave up on a dessert as it was too slow to wait for the waitress to take our order. And the final gripe is the ‘discretionary’ 10% service charge included in the bill. I don’t agree with this, and as there were a lot of drinks included, we shouldn’t have to pay 10% service charge for going to the bar and getting our drinks ( a few were delivered to the table) and the waitress queried it with me when I told her why we were not paying the full price but deciding ourselves how much tip to leave! Overall, a disappointing night but the food was good. Battered haddock was a great size portion.

First time to the three daggers and we came across this pub by mistake as most public houses in the area are in fact closed on Monday and Tuesday ( little did we know!) Anyway, welcome was good, and although we did not want the ala carte menu for lunch, we were advised to try the farm shop, for a good deli and sandwich selection. We did and thoroughly enjoyed our lunch time snack Definitely recommend

Overall, I was disappointed with our evening here. The fault didn’t lie with the staff, who were welcoming and attentive, but sadly with our mains (and thus, the core of the fayre). My friend and I both opted for the pan fried cod served with heritage tomatoes. Maybe I’ve missed a modern trick here but the tomatoes were served raw! Part of the problem may have been that there was no 3rd element to the dish, either in the form of a binding sauce or potato of some form only sides that you could order as ‘extras’. At the very least chef, pan fry or oven roast the tomatoes so that they soften and squish a little…then, “ta da”…readymade sauce (of a fashion). Frankly could have ‘COOKED’ something much better at home, and saved my friend her pennies🙁

We have just come back from staying at The Three Daggers and I would highly recommend staying here. If I had my own hotel, this is exactly how I would imagine it to be, from the decor to the furniture and the food, which was amazing. We had the roast beef on the Sunday, which was the best I have tasted, followed by the Sticky Toffee Pudding (so delicious) and then breakfast the following morning, which was perfect. The staff were also very friendly. It was such a delightful stay and would love to come back again.

Met for an evening meal with friends at this lovely place, filled with locals enjoying a pint, or three, at the bar. Ordered main course and it arrived in decent time, but was a little ‘cool’, particularly the steak. Chicken Kiev deemed superb - seems it’s a chef speciality. Not much in way of veg, so extras had to be added, which increases overall price sharply. Desert followed same trend, with sticky toffee pudding cool as result of being put on cold plate, with cold sauce. Mandatory 10% service charge added to bill … does NOT say ‘optional’ on bill. Will think hard about visiting again ….

We dined at the Three Daggers, two couples, for my birthday and we were very pleased we did. A warm and efficient welcome was followed by seating at a good and spacious table in their most pleasant dining room. All three courses and all individual choices within the courses were served efficiently with the standard of the offerings very high across the board. Drinks to accompany were also of very high quality. This was the first time we had visited the Daggers for a while and having rediscovered this local gem we will certainly be returning.

This pub was once a cut above the rest in the local area but unfortunately it is slowly slipping more and more downhill. They’ve messed around with the menu, removing popular items (I even spoke to the chef about a certain dish and asked why they stopped doing it to which he told me it was due to price. I asked if people were buying it to which he told me it was very popular!? Unsure why they removed something that was very popular. Seems more like a new chef walked in a wanted to change the menu). Their burger used to be amazing, filled with all the extras now it’s just a very basic cheese burger. They’ve even gone as far as changing their mayonnaise to a cheaper brand. Whilst charging top money. It makes no sense. Their pork belly is very overpriced considering it is literally a slice of pork belly and a fancy carrot. No mash or potatoes, you even have to pay for a side of veg. They used to have a great bunch of staff but they’ve all gone - something obviously going on behind the scenes. Anyway, it’s a great set up over there. Lovely beer garden and venue but they seem to be slipping which is a shame. Hopefully it’s just a blip and they pull it back

Gosh…..what a disappointment my visits have been to the farm shop. The ‘mature’ lady who works in there needs a bit of a personality transplant! On a number of occasions I have visited looking for a particular item and her response has been curt bordering on rude when I enquired if it was available? A smile would curdle the cream for sure. On these trips, which is a substantial one mileage wise, I go to see my daughter so always like to take a small treat. Once I can source another outlet I will be giving this place a swerve. To the manager, staff training may help, enquiring if she actually ‘likes’ her job and her contact with the public? Goodness only knows what holiday makers must think of her.

Good quality, well cooked and reasonable value. My wife was very disappointed with her pork belly, served as a block with one scrawny carrot. Any other veg, chips etc were extra. At 4pds a go, this made it a very expensive meal and poor value. Beers ok, reasonable price and service was efficient. Would not rush back.

Was really looking forward to trying this pub as we had heard such good things about it, we were shown to our table where we waited at least 10 minutes for our drinks order to be taken, eventually after another long wait 3 of the drinks came out, then a few minutes later another 2 drinks & finally the last drink, we then had to wait about 15 minutes for someone to take our food order . The couple at the next table to us had a small dog with them who barked through our whole meal, when I complained I was told that maybe next time I should consider booking the conservatory as dogs aren’t allowed in there ! Whilst I appreciate dogs are allowed in the pub surely if the dog persists to bark the staff should have asked them to move to a table outside . On the whole everything about this place is very average, won’t be returning!

Dropped in after a dog walk on the plain for a pint and a bite to eat. We sat outside with our dog and I went in to get drinks and menus. Didn’t fancy anything from the bar snack menu so my wife and I chose from the other menu on the bar. I went back in and said I’d like to order some food, the girl behind the till asked for my table number and I said I was outside but not sure of the number but would go and get it for her. She said not to worry as she would look on their system which table I was sat at. After a while the girl then spoke to another member of staff and asked if I had booked a table, I replied no as I was sat outside (there were plenty of free tables there). She then took my order and asked for my table number again, I said I would go and get it and let her know. She then said she needed to speak to the chef, she returned from the kitchen saying that the chef said there had been a run of tables requesting food and I could only order from the bar snacks menu. I told her I didn’t like this menu so wouldn’t be ordering. I was really fed up with the whole process, as there weren’t many tables in use outside (maybe 5 or 6) and the 1 table in use inside had already finished eating. The time was around 7:30 so it wasn’t as if the kitchen was about to shut either. I just don’t get their lazy attitude, it’s not as if the pub food is reasonably priced either. The beer was lovely but someone at the pub needs to try and ensure the customer stays happy and can order the food they want !!!

Visited my parents (who were overnight guests) here last night, it was their wedding anniversary and the first time my boyfriend and I had seen my family in 5+ months since lockdown started as we don't live in the same part of the UK. Our meals were absolutely outstanding - if we could give more than five stars, we would. Just gorgeous, impeccable food - props to the chef, it was perfect from start to finish :)The younger waitress we had was extremely lovely, however we had a lot of service from a waiter in a white shirt who wasn't the most pleasant towards us. Everything seemed too much trouble and we started to feel like we were a nuisance to him? I asked for a small white wine and he snapped 'yeah' with what was practically an eye-roll. I felt quite embarrassed - tried to shrug it off but even my dad from across the table noticed and commented on it. Later my sister-in-law quietly said she'd love a G&T but "I don’t even dare to ask for one in case he gets more annoyed”. Considering we were spending a few hundred pounds and it was a special occasion, it wasn't really on. It just seemed like he wasn't in the best mood and couldn't be bothered - if we asked for something small (mustard, for example) he'd say "no, haven't got any" then we'd ask the waitress and she'd bring it over immediately with a smile. At one point he came to stand at the end of our table with his arms folded and watched my boyfriend pour his dessert which felt a bit odd and uncomfortable. Not sure if we caught him on a bad day or maybe it was the fact that it was a Wednesday evening not the weekend, but neither excuses rude service. My mum got a Bailey’s with ice and commented privately that it tasted weird - we tried a tiny sip and there must have been soap in the glass as it was chemical like Fairy Liquid. We’re genuinely not fussy people at all and wouldn't normally say anything but it really did taste like a bar of soap and was undrinkable - I tentatively mentioned this to the waiter in the white shirt who took it away and we could overhear the staff loudly saying “she won’t drink it, *apparently* it tastes of soap” which again just felt very awkward and like we were an annoyance.Would like to stress that the food was OUTSTANDING and we all really enjoyed our meals and the evening as a whole. At 10pm the same waiter brusquely said “we’re shut, going to have to ask you to leave” with no please or thank you - we’d just ordered a £57 round of drinks that hadn’t come yet and he said "you can have them outside". It was pretty cold and we weren't the only people still sitting in the restaurant area, but obviously we understood that it was closing time so of course we did leave. Would return for the brilliant food but considering my parents were also paying to stay at The Three Daggers, the sarcasm and blunt attitude etc from the waiter left a bad taste.

As a local pub we took advantage of August money off. Good food when it arrived. The service has always been slow, so nothing new there. 10 chips for the very expensive fish and chips. The prices are far too high. We could have had a dessert but not sat and chatted for the same timescale. We won't be going to eat there anytime soon

I’ve been here before and I knew the food was very good. When I visited the food was fantastic but as many other people have commented on, the prices have gone through the roof. £17 for fish and chips seems a lot of money to me, gastro pub or not. And £8 for sticky toffee pudding is ridiculous judging by the Fact it is the smallest portion you’re ever see. Great pub, great staff but overpriced

I offer the following quick summary stating what we found was good, bad and/or indifferent about our experiences at this independent country inn. For those wanting further information please read on and find detail within the full review.Good: charcuterie, fish and chips, haunch of venison, praline parfait, ambience, wine, table décor, warm crockery, and service.Bad: nothing.Indifferent: expensive starter, dry cornichons, and slightly oily batter. This lovely old inn has remained stubbornly on my ‘list of places to dine’ for over 7 years! The last occasion I tried to visit was back at a time when I organised a group-lunch here whilst out on a Rotary Club activity. That time a mix-up between Westbury in the Mendips and this Westbury (in Wiltshire), with a little matter of the 35 miles between them, meant it was too far to visit here after our Rotary event. So, this time whilst in the area and out for a drive on a sunny and dry early-spring day I called in whilst my partner stayed with the car. I asked if there was a table for two available, and happily there was. It was about 13:50, so the restaurant was quieter than at prime time for lunch service.Parking was then a bit of a challenge as the pub with its B&B accommodation and spa, shares a car park with an on-site brewery, a Farm Shop and Café: being all owned by the same business. The car park was full and there is no on-street parking, as the B3098 is very narrow as it passes through the pleasant little village of Edington. We were patient and managed to grab a space, under some competition, as someone else departed. We were shown to a dining room in the main part of the pub building, and had our choice of two tables each set for two diners. We chose the table in front of the log fire (being behind a glass screen) aiding the good ambience but still protected us from sparks and too much heat. Lighting was also subdued which engendered a cosy feeling, and it was certainly warm but not uncomfortably-so. In contrast there was an adjacent conservatory, featuring a larger number of tables, where the light was very bright in the spring sunshine. All tables were pleasantly furnished with a small pot of various, natural looking, fresh flowers. Cutlery and glassware sparkled. We both noted our chairs flexed a bit as we seated ourselves, but fortunately no mishaps. We studied the menu and decided on a starter to share: the ‘Wiltshire Charcuterie’. This arrived after a slight delay but, no bother, we were not in a hurry, we were enjoying the ambience, and besides, I was sipping a pleasant Chenonceau white of a Sauvignon Blanc and (I think) Chardonnay blend, this grew in increasing delicate flavours as it breathed and warmed slightly. The starter arrived, very pleasingly presented on a wooden platter. There were two warm thick-cut lightly toasted slices of quality bread and a selection of continental-style meats including, a particularly excellent cured ham, thinly sliced Chorizo sausage, and another thinly sliced (maybe garlic) cured sausage. There was a pot of mixed olives with chilli, and a sprinkling of very small cornichons. At £14 we felt it was a tad expensive as there wasn’t a great deal of meat; in fact I would say it was slightly too much for one person but not really enough for two. The quality was fantastic, no argument there, it was certainly not cheap ‘supermarket fare’. I am acutely aware of the cost of similar products from a ‘Somerset Charcuterie’ that we buy from time to time, but I would say £10 would have been more in line with the quantity offered here. I did have an issue with the cornichons, as I consider myself to be an unofficial doyen of this wonderful vegetable. Cornichons should be crunchy and moist, being soaked with pickling vinegar. The cornichons should release the spirit vinegar into your mouth so as to slightly catch your throat as you eat. Wonderful? Normally yes, but sadly these cornichons were too dry and, although crunchy, had no ‘after throat-catch’.To the mains, which followed without appreciable delay, and attractively presented on good warm crockery. My partner had decided on the ‘Fish and Chips’ served with pots of both (proper) mushy peas, and plenty of good, but not tart tasting, tartare sauce. The fish was very fresh, hot and great to eat, but the batter was a touch oily. The chips however were not at all oily, being gloriously hot, with crunchy outer casings and soft, fluffy inners: lovely. I had opted for the ‘Haunch of Venison’. This was two solid, chunky and juicy pieces of just-medium rare haunch, served in a cassis sauce with a small piece of salt-baked celeriac, and a small portion of red cabbage. As this plate did not include potatoes, a side of skinny fries, sweet potato fries or boiled/steamed Charlotte potatoes, needed to be chosen (at a cost of £4). I chose the latter and also decided on the intriguingly described ‘Chilli and Ginger Sprouting Broccoli’ side (also £4). This placed my main in the ‘near £30’ bracket which is certainly not cheap, but it was extraordinarily good: with great and complex flavours and textures including the quite glutinous, sweet and deep flavoured red cabbage and quite delicately flavoured celeriac. The cassis sauce (which featured some large berries or grapes) was also sweet and reduced, in parts, to an intensely flavoured sticky caramelised goo that could be gathered onto mouthfuls of the tasty and robust meat. The potatoes were a perfect foil, wonderfully waxy and steaming hot. Sprouting broccoli is a favoured green vegetable for me, and the inspired combination with chilli and ginger really worked, absolute genius! So much so as to make me want to try cooking this dish at home. The sides were absolutely necessary as without them the plate would lack balance and not satisfy a good appetite. The sides were probably enough for sharing between two, and as so they would probably be worth the £4 each - just.My partner was replete after her starter and mains, but I was tempted to try the ‘Praline Parfait and Chocolate Mousse’ dessert. This was, for me, homemade: a generous portion of praline as a base, with a cocoa solids textured topping of firm and dense dark chocolate mousse, plus dobs of soft toffee flavoured cream, all studded with shards of crispy caramelised sugar, biscuit fragments and nuts. It was certainly extremely filling and probably enough for sharing, worth £8 of anyone’s money, and absolutely delicious! So, no serious and very few or very forgivable other issues with our meals. Certainly not any issues collectively to award anything less than top marks for what is a near fine-dining experience, depending on menu choices.Service was excellent, attentive, friendly and engaging. An example: the senior waitress overheard my comment, to my partner, whilst I was eating my main, that I really needed a serrated knife to easily cut my venison. The waitress immediately acknowledged the oversight and fetched one. The General Manager displayed good communication skills, and knowledge, when we spoke at the end of the meal. We were enquiring about what the pub offers on special occasions. We particularly asked this because of our, unfortunately poor, experiences at a (totally disassociated), and very expensive inn at which we had stayed on Valentine’s Night three weeks earlier. What he described about their Valentine’s celebration event made us really regret our earlier choice of venue. Mental notes made, we shall return and probably stay-over: a booking for February 14th, next year is now clearly a choice we should consider making.

Popped in for lunch today. We hadn't booked and decided to try our luck. They were very friendly and accommodating. Squeezed us in to an obviously busy service and took our order. We had pints of their ale which was delicious. Complimentary sour dough bread and butter was very welcome and we liked the sprinkle of sea salt. Our Sunday lunches, one beef one lamb, were plentiful and well cooked. Good gravy and Yorkshire pudding, three crispy roasties and veg. All cooked perfectly and tasty. No pudding for us. Too full. Not the cheapest but well worth the £18 for good local meat and veg. Will be back.

Booked last minute, for a 2.30 lunch.I ordered the pork which was very fatty, along with a couple of roast potatoes, one carrot and a little bit of greens along with a huge Yorkshire pudding which was over cooked and very crunchy. My partner went for the beef, which was tasteless and a little chewy. For the price (£18) it really wasn't anything amazing. I will return but probably not for Sunday lunch.

What a beautiful place and pub! We stayed in Hillside the house accomodation, this was superbly decorated and comfortable with its communal lounge kitchen etc. Perfect for a large group but equally as a couple as we were. Rooms again were sympathetically decorated and a really comfortable bed. Steam shower an added luxury! Lee at at the Three Daggers on the first night and the food and service were excellent. Would highly recommend.

Was looking forward to a Sunday lunch, very disappointed and wished we had chosen somewhere else. Pork choice had only one mouthful of edible meat, beef was very tough and chewy. We had a late sitting of 2:30pm and the food had clearly been sat around, was very dry and flavourless. Struggled to see how the price can justify such poor food. Chocolate fondant was undercooked and tasted purely of cocoa powder. Lesson learnt - we shall not be returning for food!
