The Thomas Paine Hotel Restaurant in Breckland

Dinner was great. As always the food is full of flavor. My significant other is one with a picky taste but was rejoiced with hoe great the food was. Even the host makes you feel like family and have a warm environment.

Visited with a big group for a baby shower, we had 3 preschoolers and a baby with us too. The staff were wonderful and very accommodating of our 3 young ones moving around and exploring. We felt very comfortable here and the owner even put Paw Patrol on for them so they could relax for a bit too. The afternoon tea was lovely and plentiful! If this was more local to me I'd visit more often, definitely recommend.

From start to finish our experience was excellent, as was the ambience and decor. The 'home brewed' beer was exceptionally good as was the food. We were made very welcome. Bruno, the new waiter, was first class, and Gez a very genial host. We give it 5.5 out of 5.

If you ever want that spoilt rotten experience then try a Sunday afternoon at the Thomas Paine Hotel. Delicious food, a excellent selection of drinks especially gin and champagne and wonderful staff in a very relaxed atmosphere. Not forgetting their functions, especially weddings and their unforgettable high teas.

I traveled to Europe in March to visit a friend. She informed me that she had dinner reservations at The Thomas Paine Hotel and restaurant. Upon our arrival the host immediately greeted and seated us. The owners also approached our table to say hello and ensure we were enjoying our meal. After dinner we transitioned from the dinner table to the fireplace area to enjoy the warm cozy ambiance. I enjoyed every moment at the restaurant. The staff treated us with so much care, their hospitality was amazing. There food was delicious.

I was the photographer at a recent wedding at the Thomas Paine and I must say that Gez and his team were exceptional. The food was absolutely fantastic and they made the whole day run very smoothly. Something you need when you’re a wedding supplier and work long stressful days.

The hotel is gives you a great home town feel. The owners make you feel like family and happy to entertain. They are happy to make your experience the best they can. The food is reasonably priced as well as the best Sunday roast in the area. I go often to enjoy an amazing dinner.

Just had a lovely Mother Day meal at the Thomas Paine. The food was fantastic especially the yorkshire puddings. The service was really good and the waitress team worked really hard to look after us in a busy restaurant. The owner Gez as always went out of his way to look after us. We will be back again.

We went here today for Sunday lunch (Mothers Day). We were greeted with a warm friendly welcome and treated very well, all the staff were very attentive. The food was amazing, we had 3 courses, each course was delicious. The place itself was beautifully done and had a lot of character. The owner took time to tell us about the building, he was very friendly and chatty. My children had a great time playing drafts after dinner. We had a wonderful afternoon here. We would highly recommend and we will definitely return!

We visited on a Sunday lunch time to celebrate our anniversary and had a fantastic meal in a wonderfully welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Both the food and the service were impeccable. We went for two courses, main; we had the belly pork and the lamb, with vegetables. Both dishes and sides were perfectly cooked and full of delicious flavours. For desert we had the lemon drizzle cake and the sticky toffee pudding. The sticky toffee pudding was one of the best I’ve ever had 10/10. All the staff were friendly, polite and helpful, the fire was going in the bar area which lent a cozy feel to the relaxed atmosphere. They also have a small museum dedicated to Thomas Paine detailing the history of the man with accompanying audio. Can honestly say we had a wonderful afternoon there and we will definitely be going back. Can’t recommend it highly enough

We came for Christmas Day lunch, as a large group it was brilliant to be in the newly refurbished function room. The food was excellent and we were very grateful for the attentive, friendly service. Visited for food only with two dogs in tow and received a very warm and friendly welcome. The food was superb and very reasonably priced. Not sure what the hotel is like but it is a beautiful building which appears to be very well maintained and luxurious. All of the staff we encountered were very friendly, polite, and attentive.

Didn't stay, but wen for a family Xmas lunch. The owner and daughter couldn't be more accommodating! Owner arranged for me to have a space at the EV charger - unfortunately both were 22KW so couldn't charge. Venue was lovely, with a real fire in the fireplace, great for family photos. The food was well prepared and came out on time and tasted delicious with good portion sizes. The set menu for a set price was a great option. Definitely recommend

I didn't stay at the hotel, but we ate Sunday roast in the restaurant. WOW, it is absolutely delicious. The starters of calamari and fried mushrooms were delightful. We had salmon and beef as the main. The portions were perfect, with so many different delicious veggies. The service was great Jez the owner and his family love providing great customer service to their guest. The ambiance was delightful. Beautiful holiday decor and the warm fireplace were an added touch.

We visited on a Sunday lunch for my sister in laws baby shower. We had Afternoon tea and needed to make a few changes for dietary requirements which the team were happy to help with. Food was amazing , friendly and very helpful staff and the restaurant looked beautiful all ready for Christmas. We will be back soon

This hotel has very bad customer service and an unprofessional business approach. We booked and paid a deposit for a Christmas Day lunch for 8 people in June 2023. We were sent a menu choice in October and asked if my father could have the prawn cocktail starter minus the salad and sauce. The hotel responded advising this would be an additional £4.95. We asked them to waive the cost as the prawn cocktail was included in the £80 per person price. The owner’s daughter sent an email advising that the price of prawns had got up dramatically as had other costs. “I’m afraid that as you think we are charging incorrectly we are going to cancel your booking as it’s inappropriate to ask for more discounts and will refund your deposit.” We requested not to cancel and intended to give the prawn cocktail to another party member to which they failed to respond. When we booked the Christmas Day lunch originally, we were advised by the owner that the price was £75.00 per person, a few months later the Hotel advised us it was rising to £80 per person which we agreed on. At no time did we ask for a discount and our deposit, after prompting, was eventually refunded on 31st October 2023. We suggested to them that they ensure their costings are not miscalculated in the future to ensure other customers do not receive this inappropriate treatment.

Having not been to the Thomas Paine for a few months due to hubby being in hospital, we decided to go today for Sunday lunch. We took my Hearing Dog ( assistance dog for deaf people) We was made so welcome & so was my Hearing Dog. Food was so good as usual. We definitely have missed this place & cannot wait to return. We popped in for dinner and a drink and were blown away by the excellent service, exceptional food and a lovely atmosphere. The hosts were non intrusive but at the same time attentive. I was asked exactly how i like my steak and it was cooked to perfection. We were informed of where the food was sourced from, all local produce, which is great. We had a look around the museum and got to see the personal journey the family have had since taking ownership. 5* we will definitely be returning to try more from the menu as it was so hard to choose from.

stopped here after a long drive, we were greeted by the lovely owner who was so accommodating allowing us to have the restaurant menu in the bar as we had our dog with us. This is a family run business and you can see the care and effort they put in. beautiful building and nice comfy sitting area to sit and have a cocktail we tried the espresso martini and the mojitos along with our delicious meal. overall a lovely place to stop and enjoy some fresh cooked food with very friendly hospitality.

We stopped at Franklin’s Brasserie looking for somewhere to have lunch and where would could also charge our car (EV) and a place that would allow us to bring our dog as we were travelling home from a weekend away. The moment we pulled in to the car park we felt very welcomed - the manager/owner came out to check we were able to connect and to find out what we needed in terms of table - we were seated in the newly built extension with the air con on (it was boiling hot outside so very appreciated). Throughout our lunch we were really well looked after, the food was delicious ( I had the Calamari and Roast Beef) and the service was amazing throughout - if you’re in the area then I would definitely recommend a stop here - we didn’t have it but the afternoon tea looked lovely as well!

Wow! What a find! Where to start, it was fantastic. Me and my partner ate here because the reviews were amazing, we weren’t disappointed! Owner is fantastic, the staff are incredible. They made the whole evening easy and fun. I ordered chorizo (starter) which was cooked table-side over a flame. Tasted amazing. The steak (mains) was to die for! We only popped in for a spontaneous bit of dinner but stayed for a whole evening of great food, great service, awesome dessert, wine and impressive cocktails! With so many restaurants these days merely asking you to order via QR code for average food and service with no attention to detail, this place was utterly refreshing and a little romantic. 10/10. We visited the Thomas Paine restaurant to celebrate a birthday whilst on holiday. We were greated by the owner who was lovely and friendly and took an interest in us and where we were from, as well as giving us a brief history on the pub. The waitress was really lovely too and was very attentive to our needs. The owner's wife who is the chef, also came out after the meal to make sure that we were happy with everything. Overall, lovely food and staff and good value for money. Would recommend and visit again if in the area.

Excellent four course dinner for St George's Day. 30+ people catered for, nothing was too much trouble. All the food was made in house from scratch, and it really showed; very tasty soup, superb roast beef with Yorkshire pudding and all the trimmings, an amazing sponge for dessert, all followed with cheese and biscuits. A glass of bubbly to start and a glass of port to finish bookended an amazing meal in a relaxed and comfortable setting. Recommended!

Such a wonderful dining experience - staff so attentive, food really superb and lovely surroundings. Cannot fault the service and welcome we received and truly some of the best dishes we have had in a long time. Starter of chorizo was a spectacle to behold! Goat curry was exceptional, stunning flavours and perfectly cooked. Lamb shank cooked so well and tasted delicious and to top it off the desserts were top dollar !

Just had the most amazing afternoon tea at the TP hotel - wow! Best scones I've ever had & all food beautifully presented & we sat in sofas in front of an open fire - What a fantastic find! From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel SO welcome & nothing was too much trouble. All the staff went above & beyond to ensure everything was ok for us and as the slogan on the wall said..."arrive as guests, leave as friends" We will definitely be back again & can't recommend this hotel (& it's wonderful staff) enough. Booked for Mother’s Day. Great communication when booking and quick response. Had the 2 course Sunday dinner at a good reasonable price. Starters was nice, the main (toast) was nice and the desert again nice. Only gripe but nothing major was the wait when wanting to pay. Would recommend this place as it has a great atmosphere, cosy inside and friendly welcoming staff and great food.

I took my family party of ten for a Sunday roast and we all had a memorable time; we were beautifully looked after by Gez and his family and staff - genuinely warming and attentive service- we felt like we were the only guests although it was busy. The starters were good - generous and fresh soup, prawn cocktails and garlic mushrooms- everyone enjoyed them. The main roasts of longhorn beef and pork were generous and the salmon that my mum had was succulent- the vegetables kept coming and nothing was too much trouble- a truly memorable and satisfying experience- we will keep returning to this restaurant- thank you Gez and family again

Between the food, drink, and hospitality you feel like royalty every time you visit! 100% recommend visiting every weekend!
