Very nice pub, great food, good service. The only issue was the number of flies. I know they're difficult to get rid off but the number of flies would have been a problem for most. It was only saved by how excellent the food was.

Ate here whilst staying in thr area. Service was absolutely top notch, as was the food. Great wine list & after dinner cheese choice too.

Had lunch here with friends. We are fairly annoying so asked a lot of questions and had several requests. The waitress was excellent - very patient. Food was great as well, if a little slow in arriving. Despite that I’d highly recommend this pub!

Came across this pub when camping and we were very glad we went in for a meal! Our meals were really lovely there seemed to be a real attention to detail with the flavours and our 2 year old devoured his fish and chips - usually a picky eater! We thoroughly enjoyed the food and there was space to sit outside which was great.

Good tasty food and beers - a touch above your standard pub food. There's always a few specials on the menu, which are definitely worth trying. Accommodation wasn't the cheapest but of a good standard and comfortable.

We had a perfect lunch. Mix and marched from the menu and can only say as we found. Foccacia...the best weve had anywhere. The chips crispy outside soft inside..delicious. the simple rocket salad with sunblushed tomatoes , parmesan and balsamic...perfect to accompany my king prawns. The coffee was excllent as was tge service. Just wow.

Stayed in the family room with our two children. It was a gorgeous room with really comfortable bed and pillows. Massive space and excellent choice of teas and coffees. An 11am check out made out stay more relaxing. A gorgeous view of the idillic village green. And the eggs Benedict and pastries were a real treat in the morning. Thank you :)

Party of 8 out for Sunday lunch at The Kings Head. Between us we had the the Pork belly, Chicken and the Beef, side of stuffing and cauliflower cheese. What a great meal plenty of food on the plate and the quality was second to none. Extra gravy was supplied with out asking for it , and it was full of flavour and nice and thick. We just managed to fit in some crumble for dessert before we rolled out of the door. It's well worth the drive if you're anywhere near New Buckingham to stop and get a fill. Thanks to the friendly staff will see you again.

Went for meal ( Tuesday £10 meal deal). Food very good value. Service a little slow as pub was very busy and seemed a little short staffed. Enjoyed it though and would recommend.

What a great pub with rooms, very convenient for visiting the Lotus factory. Great value especially on a Tuesday evening with a reduced price menu. Great local ale available.

An amazing place. It is not pretentious at all but welcomes everybody. The staff are friendly, chatty and eager to please. It's a welcome local stop for nibbles and cocktails/drinks and has a menu that should suit all tastes. We've enjoyed several very good dishes. I'd recommend it for a thoroughly relaxed experience.

All in a nice venue. Although the pub is probably as old as time it has been modernised to a high standard. My room (3) was very comfortable. The only niggle is that the extractor fan in the ladies toilet below makes a terrible racket as it is immediately below this room. Good ales, good food and a lovely breakfast. NB: No parking, just street parking but its a quiet village and you are almost certain to find a spot.

It's such a shame I want to like it but unfortunately I can't . On our visit there was no doorway with an entrance sign on it ? Which is bizarre ,we went for Sunday lunch now the food was excellent but the service was terrible the waitresses were extremely slow and I mean slow we asked for a dessert but it took that long we had gone off the idea which was such a shame as we also wanted to book Christmas day lunch and was simply put of by the service. Also the table we sat at was ridiculously small and I mean small . It's a shame as the food was delicious. Absolutely no interaction from the waitresses 👎

Popped in for a lite lunch yesterday 30/10/2023 after a muddy dog walk and we were happily surprised by the friendly service and superb food. We shared four starter tapas dishes which were delicious. We will definitely be back 😋

We stayed here for just one night for a wedding near by. As all i can say is that I wish we had more time to have spent a few more nights. The hotel shows so much character. The rooms were so beautiful, warm and cozy. The character of the pub/ hotel carried throughout. Our room had so much space great sized bathroom with a great power shower. Beds were very comfortable, bedding of high quality. Did not want to get up!!! Was met by two lovely girls for breakfast and nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended Kings breakfast 👌. Will definitely be back to stay if for no other reason than to enjoy the warm welcome and the beautiful rooms.

First time I've been. Decided to give it a try with some friends for lunch. Very nice interior, 'proper pub'. No fancy frills, happy hour ect. Staff super friendly and attentive. All our meals were lovely and reasonably priced. Well worth the 30 minutes drive from Norwich. Will return.

First time for my Wife and I and we were checking it out for a potential Christmas day venue. Arriving, it's not immediately obvious where the front door is and we followed somebody in via the toilets!!! Once at the bar, we were met with a distinctly average greeting and ordered a drink. We explained that we had a reservation and were shown to the dining room. The table for 2 was tiny and poorly positioned, far too close to the adjacent tables. I physically moved the table just to get sat down. Anyone who likes or needs a little extra space is going to struggle. Slow service was the theme for the rest of the experience. Sunday lunchtime and therefore it had to be a roast dinner, once again it was slow to arrive. Plonked on the table with no offer of sauces or condiments. No return to the table to check how we were. Very slow to clear the plates after making it obvious that we had finished. After delivering a pudding menu, the slow approach continued and this time, we changed our minds and opted for the bill. Once again, after waiting several minutes, we had to ask for the card machine and eventually we paid for the meal. At this point, we made the difficult decision not to leave a tip. The most disappointing part of the experience was that the food was actually very good indeed. Hot plates, hot food, plenty of it and all cooked very well. A really good size portion and very tasty. It was just delivered with such impersonal service where you were never made to feel truly welcome. Just a dining number. The decision is, it's not the place for us to spend a hard earned £70 per head on Christmas day. We may well return on a different day and give them a second chance. We all have off days right?? The 3 stars are for the exceptional food, get the service on point and it will be 5 stars all day long.

Awesome place, ran by wonderful people, amazing friendly staff and the food is superb

Awful experience. Started well with getting a drink at the bar. Sat at table and was completely ignored by waitress who served at least two other tables before us. When flagged down, no apology. Others ate but no meals for us, in fact, we think our food went to a wrong table. After 55 mins we paid for the drinks and left. What should have been a lovely day out was a ruin.

Delicious food and great service. Has steak on Tuesday, £15 for a rib eye because it was £10 Tuesday. Will be returning for sure!

What a shame! We visited last year and had an excellent meal. We came back again recently and we were all disappointed with the food, because the menu had entirely changed in style, prices had gone up but the quality of food had gone down. Everything was just trying a bit too hard to be something it wasn't and not quite hitting the mark. The high price of the menu didn't match the quality of food. If it's the same chef they had last year, he needs to give his head a wobble. If it's a new chef, bring the old one back please.

I thought I would treat my wife & family to a roast meal Sunday, as our son has autism I called the kings head & asked if they do takeaway roast. Which they answered yes no problem at all. I was very pleased & arranged to collect this yesterday 17/09/2023 at 1pm & it was in a box ready to collect which we were pleased. £66.60 wasted & I called to say when we got home, the roast potatoes were dry & the beef my wife & daughter couldn’t eat. The girl on the phone was going to tell the landlord & landlady we were disappointed with the quality of food & half was inedible. No one called us back & thought if that’s the way they treat customers after spending that amount on food, without an apology, it’s not very good. My advice is to never have a takeaway roast as you will very disappointed & a complete waste of money

Have visited many times before, recommended to many friends but last night it seemed we were not really wanted. First no drinks order taken after being seated at the table. Hardly had menu and waitress was hovering, knew we were waiting for another person, came back every few minutes to ask, so in end we ordered.Food was excellent as usual. Asked for sweet menu and asked for extra time to see if last person caught us up. Constantly being hassled for order, plates and glasses taken as soon as you laid down your utensils, do you want you bill straight away. Almost ushered out. We had not seen each other for over 18 months and wanted to sit and chat and take our time.Very disappointed.

Highly recommend! What a little gem to come across. Very friendly welcome with exceptional service throughout our stay, nothing was too much for the owners and staff to do. The food was top notch, with fresh local ingredients all cooked exquisitely, with a faultless 3 course evening meal and breakfast the following morning. The room was very clean and well presented and could not be faulted. The only minor issue was the poor WiFi connection however this did not bother us, but may do other people. Will certainly be returning and can’t wait!

First time to this lovely friendly pub, staff were very welcoming and helpful, we all chose roast dinners and the food was exceptional all round. Couldn’t fault anything. We live an hour away but will be back again especially to visit this gem. I just wish I could have made room for dessert! 10/10.

Went for a Sunday roast with my sister. Such lovely food and a real family feel. We had a slightly older waitress who strangely made us feel like we had done something wrong from the moment we sat down. We are only 24 and 18, and were really looking forward to our meal, but even asking for sauces seemed like it was too much and to be honest I struggled to work out what it was all about. The young blonde waitress who brought us our drinks was so lovely, and I watched her working so hard for her tables, Smiley and accommodating. Definitely an asset to the kings head, I’m sure if she had been our waitress food wise, I would have felt very differently. The desserts looked just as amazing as the mains but to be honest by this point We felt uncomfortable and just opted for getting the bill. I work in the pub business so I do understand it can be stressful, it’s just a shame it had an effect on our experience. The food was lovely, and the building is cosy and clean and I noticed a great range for vegan/ veggies which is so hard to find in Norfolk!

As a group of 4 we go out most Sundays and return to the ones we "really" like. Today was our 4th visit since coming across this fabulous establishment..... The Food never lets us down, its always been very good and today was fantastic as usual.... Just a heads up to the owners today.... The staff today were so lovely. Friendly, happy and nothing was too much for them (we have never been let down by your staff, but today we all mentioned how lovely all of them were and we know that you were very busy.... Thank you - Thank you.... its lovely to have somewhere, where we "always" have an exceptional meal.

We bikes from applewood camp site and was squeezed in for Sunday Roast. It was honestly one of the nicest roasts I have ever had. The environment was very welcoming even with social distancing measures . The staff were exceptional, very friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. The two course was really good value for money also. We will definitely be back .

If we could give this more than 5 stars, we would!! Amazing place, such a high standard of accommodation, beautiful décor, absolutely spotless throughout. We stayed here for 3 nights and we would go back tomorrow. The service and food were out of this world, run by Dan & Jenny who are fabulous hosts and their staff are a credit to them. We can not recommend this place highly enough.During these unprecedented worrying times we felt safe and cared for at all times. They had Covid protocols in place throughout and all staff adhered to these at all times. A lovely safe haven in a beautiful peaceful and friendly village.A huge thank you to Dan, Jenny and of course Poppy and all their lovely staff for giving our family a wonderful holiday. Recently checked in to the Kings Head as it was close by to visit family, Meg behind the bar checked me in and was extremely polite and helpful, the room was fantastic and just what I needed after a long drive. The food and service was brilliant too. A Massive thank you to Jen & Dan for being exceptional hosts and sorting out my little situation the night I stayed, cannot fault the place at all! I feel like I’ve found a little gem in the countryside, will definitely be back again.

We have just spent 3 nights at The Kings Head. It is a beautiful old pub which has been sympathetically refurbished to the highest standard whilst retaining its mediaeval features. The accommodation is superb, comprising of a large bedroom with very comfy bed, and a spacious bathroom. The food is also excellent - even though they do not serve food on a Sunday night or all day Monday, they offer to order a takeaway meal from local establishments, delivered to the pub, which we think is above and beyond, We had a very warm welcome from everyone - Danny & Jenny (the landlords), Sally-Anne, Bella, and Meghan (and others in the background) - who cannot do enough for you. They made us feel so welcome and were all very friendly for the duration of our stay. The locals are also very friendly and chatty. We will definitely return - one of the best and nicest places we have ever stayed. We had planned to stay for just 2 nights and move on elsewhere for the 3rd night, but we decided we could not find anything as good as The Kings Head so stayed for another night - we are so glad we did.

We were a party of nine in for lunch, the service was excellent from start to finish. With a variety of home cooked dishes there was something for all tastes. I had the Steak pudding which was superb, but everyone in our party thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Although there are tables in the bar to eat we had a table in the restaurant which had a great atmosphere with sensibly spaced tables. The attention from all members of staff was spot on and we will not hesitate making a return trip. Highly recommended.

A must visit, Beautiful refurbed country pub. Atmosphere was warm and friendly, food was amazing, truly delicious. All home prepared and cooked on site. There was so many lovely choices on the menu and specials board It was seriously hard to pick one dish. We were a table of 9 , the service was excellent, all meals came out together,and was so beautifully presented, no sitting about for hours waiting for it to arrive. One of the best, if not the best restaurant/ pub meal I’ve had for a long time. Will be making it a regular haunt.

I usually visit the King's Head about three times a month, and have done so over the last couple of years or so, with my wife and sometimes family or friends.We have never been disappointed in either the food, which is fantastic, or the staff and locals who are so friendly and helpful. Our seven year old granddaughter loves it and sees it as a special treat,as do we.

My wife and I celebrated our Golden Wedding on the 28th December 2019 at The King's Head which was recommended by a friend and we could not have made a better choice. As we had already celebrated our anniversary earlier in the year if was fitting to do so again on the actual day. We were a party of twenty and without exception enjoyed the excellent food, outstanding service and friendly staff.We are grateful for a splendid and successful evening and our thanks go to Jenny and her team for making it so.

Went for a Sunday roast with the family. Lovely owners, very warm and welcoming as was the pub. Done up tastefully that it is both clean and modern but homely with a wood fire going in the corner. Roast and dessert coming to £14 each, very good value for money for the quality and service we had. And looking at the rest of the menu, can’t wait to go back to try something else!

Was recommended The Kings Head by another eatery as my partner and I was up in Norfolk for a Christmas function the night before and had a meeting the following morning in Attleborough, cant praise this establishment enough, was warm, friendly with great hosts - beer and the food was fantastic, will return when in Norfolk again no doubt and highly recommend if your in the area... On another note, we were chatting to a couple who were staying there for the weekend and they said the accommodation (B&B) was amazing!

A party of six of us went for Sunday lunch after a walk in Old Buckenham. Warm welcome, attentive service and excellent food. At £14 for two course, and all homemade, excellent value. Would definitely return if we are ever in the area again.

Visiting family locally, we stayed 2 nights at The Kings Head. The bedrooms are bright and comfortable, the bed very much so. Exposed beams and creaky floors add athmosphere though all facilities are modern but in no way take away from the overall ambience. We'd definitely stay again.

This place ticks every box. Super rooms with great shower, well appointed, clean and lots of space. Lovely hosts who obviously choose and vet their staff v carefully. Super Restaurant. Food delicious. A lovely country inn. Can’t wait until I’m next working in that part of the world. My new go-to-place.

We had a lovely evening last night at the King's Head. Have been there many times over the last number of years and not ever written a review. As a regular, the service, food, and beer quality is always very good. Thought this time I would write a review because the Thai Green Curry was fabulous. Keep up the good work you lot!!!

We were in the area for a wedding and needed somewhere to eat on the Friday night. We booked here without reading any reviews, and how lucky we were. The food was delicious (big portions!). Service was impeccable and the dining area was lovely. We will be back!

We visited the Kings Head for a catch up meal with friends who had never been there and it hit the spot in every respect. The bar area had a great atmosphere and the restaurant was busy. Despite the activity the service was excellent as was the food and drink. We all left feeling very well fed and watered! This is a great little place where all the staff want to do is please - which they did! Full marks for a great experience and keep up the good work because you deserve continued success. One or two local restaurants could learn a lot from you!

We went here for my birthday as I didn't fancy going to any of the other local pubs. The menu looked good and there looked to be an option for all the family. The service was friendly and quick. Myself and my brother are fussy and they cooked the food as we asked. The food was lovely and the steaks were cooked as asked. We will definitely be coming again!

There were 7 of us. Quick service for the drinks whilst deciding what to eat. Great attentive waitress. Food hot and extremely nice. All had clean plates.

My family and I stayed at the Kings Head for a wedding in the local area and it was absolutely perfect. Extremely welcoming staff, very comfortable beds (the most comfortable bed I've stayed in for a long while!!) and a delicious breakfast cooked to order in the morning. The rooms are lovely with old fashioned wooden beams throughout. Would definitely recommend.

Food very good,plenty of menu choice and friendly staff.This was just what we needed after a pretty walk round the villages and Castle we shall definitely return 😉

We stayed here overnight after visiting family . Lovely room , good breakfast but we didn’t get a good nights sleep as there was people watching sport downstairs in the bar till 12.30 .....so it was very rowdy and you could everything they were staying , including swearing !!! We will be down again visiting the area but would not stay here again , which is a shame as it’s so convenient to whee family live.

Situated in a pretty little village this pub is going places ! The menu is interesting, varied and excellent value for money. A little off the beaten track... well worth a visit.

Just been for lunch and had Sea Bass on a bed of Risotto, followed by the Lemon Meringue Stack. My friend had the fish pie and chocolate brownie. Very nice restaurant area.

We visited for our monthly lunch outing, this was the first time we had been to The Kings Head and we will certainly return. There were 18 of us and there was no single complaint. Well done!

We had a lovely meal here and the waitresses were lovely, however during the course of our meal we had several flies intruding, we managed to get a couple but it became slightly irritating while eating to keep swatting flies away, especially as we were dining inside.

We visited the pub as a group of 13 for Sunday lunch. Menu had something to suit everyone, including children and vegetarians. Service was very good and the food was an excellent standard and enjoyed by all. Thanks for a great meal!

Family meal, great staff. The dining area is just through the pub.

Visiting relatives in the area, we needed a beer before bed time, a good nights sleep, and a classic English breakfast to see us on our way home. We were not disappointed! on arrival we were warmly greeted and shown to our room. What a delightful surprise. One of six rooms recently refurbished, it was a tasteful blend of the new amongst the old exposed beams (and an oak pillar in the middle!). We went down for an excellent pint of bitter from a classic Norfolk brewery before retiring for the night. The shower room was clean and modern, and the shower itself was hot with plenty of water. The bed proved to be one of the most comfortable ever slept in; a most comfortable night's sleep indeed. In the morning the breakfast was top class with excellent service. What fantastic value for money - can't wait to come again and have dinner as well. Thank you, Kings Head !

I wasn't sure in the first place of that was the place, but in this quiet address you fall in love with peace, nature and the local people. I'm sorry I didn't ask for your names. We were created warmly and kind by the girls behind the bar. We weren't sure if we wanted to eat. Well I was. Few dishes of the day which in my experience days straight away cooked fresh today. I chose the lamb pie with chips and gravy and peas. I was ready for something mediocre. There pie arrives with a little flag on it saying "Baa". I giggled and tuck into the chips. First bite and from what I know as home cooked this took me while back when I was growing my own veg and potatoes realising that this is all home grown, cooked and couldn't wait to try the pie. Oh Lord that was cooked beautifully with love. Then we talked to a lady who seemed to be one of the chefs who walked round and started a conversation. From what we gathered she was the mum of the head waiter, who is the manager of this place, who also have cooked this for us. Absolutely adorable family run business with lots of charm. We loved you tonight and wish you all the greatest success and happiness in the world.

We booked as a last minute getaway and have not regretted it.

What a friendly place! We were made to feel very welcome when we stayed for a few days recently. The room was clean, with tea and coffee making facilities (and biscuits ). Shower gel and shampoo were also provided. We ate in the bar/restaurant both evenings and the food was excellent - home made, plentiful and very tasty.

Four of us had a nights stay at The Kings Head as we were attending a 50th Wedding anniversary in the Village Hall, in the morning we had a really nice breakfast with our cousins their family and friends, as our cousin lives close by I am sure we will be back at The Kings Head again.

Popped in for lunch again yesterday It really is the most friendly pub. I had steak and ale pie and my wife the sirloin steak. Both were excellent. We were sorry to hear Mel is off to pastures new. She was a star. We wish her all the best for the future. It won't be long before we visit again.

We arranged to finish our 7 mile walk from New Buckenham through Old Buckenham and back. This pub was chosen as it is fog friendly. It is very nicely done out and very welcoming. I ordered a latte coffee which was very good. Then prawn and crayfish sandwich with sweet potato chips. All delicious.

I called in for saturday lunch with my sister the layout had changed slightly sinch my last vist.The kings Head had a great friendly atmosphere. We ate in the restaurant the food and service were both very good. There were several customers in the restaurant and bar i would definitely recomment a visit.

Every Wednesday evening I find myself seeking an eating venue in South Norfolk. Quite by chance, this week, I met someone who recommended The King's Head, New Buckenham, especially as it was "Pie & A Pint" night. I hadn't visited the place for many years, and was pleasantly surprised to discover the transformation. Everything about the place was appealing and the food, ambiance, welcome and service was first class. The homemade pies were exceptionally good, as was the bread and butter pudding. The restaurant menu looked extremely inviting,and the wine list sensible and not overpriced. All in all, excellence in everything, including value for money. I shall be sampling the remainder of the "pie" selection over the coming weeks.

Great food and very friendly atmosphere! Have both eaten, stayed and had a drink here. Would definitely recommend!
