Superkleine porties, hoofdmenu kleiner dan een normaal voorgerecht. Voor een stukje brood bij de mosselen ook nog bijna 3 pond bijbetalen…. Belachelijk

We recently stayed at this pub for 4 nights on a bed & breakfast basis. There was a problem with our first room, but they very quickly moved us. The rooms are cosy cabins in the garden, nicely done out with a small fridge, kettle, tea, coffee, fresh milk & biscuits. The shower was good, but I think the flooring in the bathrooms is past it's best & a slightly strange choice for a shower room floor!! The bed was a very good size & extremely comfortable. The rooms were well looked after by Paula the house keeper who definitely knows what she's doing 👌 The breakfast was also good & if you like a Full English you won't be disappointed. It would be nice if there was a wider choice of natural yoghurts & cereals to choose from. But I do accept that's a personal thing. The lovely, welcoming Yvonne is a great breakfast host and does a fab job! We ate here in the evenings & the food & service was very good. Great place! .

I ordered sausage and caramelised onion baguette with salad. My order was repeated back to me but still arrived with fries instead of salad. This was changed but I was surprised to find that the 'salad' consisted of some not very appealing chopped iceberg lettuce, 3 slices of radish and one tiniest sliver of red pepper. The baguette filling could not be described as generous either. The sausages seemed good quality but two very thin sausages sliced in half with a smearing of onions was not an adequate filling for the baguette especially bearing in mind the £13 cost. I would not return.

We came back to the Thomas Lord last night for a family meal and all 8 of us (6 adults, 2 kids) had a great meal. First we enjoyed a round of drinks in the beer garden which was quite busy but we found a table and played some giant Jenga. Back inside for our dinner and we sat in the main room and were served by Nicole who couldn't have been friendlier or more attentive to our group's questions and order changes etc. We shared a round of small plates to start and all of them we're finished. The only 'complaint' or suggestion would be for more toasted bread with the delicious mushroom paté. Half of us had the Haddock and chips and they were very generous portions with incredibly clean crisp batter almost tempura like. The Ribeye and Fillet steaks were cooked well. The ice cream and desserts were probably unnecessary but enjoyed...a bit too much by our kids who acted like meth heads on the drive home and will be restricted to 2 scoops next time! All in all a great night with enjoyable food. We'll be back again.

The Thomas Lord is surrounded by public footpaths and glorious countryside. We walked up from Wickham with our dog and stayed overnight in one outside rooms. This was clean and comfortable and everything worked. We had a decent evening meal and the breakfast was outstanding (well done chef Dom). Evon was a welcoming host and all of the staff were friendly and professional. It came in at £200 total but for that we got room, evening meal and big breakfast plus treats of the dog. .

Nice staff, good room but the breakfast was tired and expensive. Coffee was extra to breakfast - nearly £13 extra!! Toast was extra and can already buttered. Sorry it overshadowed our opinion. Charge a price for breakfast to include beverage and toast. Over £220 to have bed and breakfast is extortionate. A lovely location and nice staff.

We arrived on Wednesday at 2:30 after phoning to confirm availability for lunch. We received an extremely curt greeting from a thoroughly disinterested, unfriendly man. We sat down with menus but gave up after ten minutes, having been studiously ignored by four staff members who appeared far more interested in talking amongst themselves. Two other couples were in our restaurant section, one of whom had to get up to ask for his bill.

We stayed overnight in the Thomas Lord Pub's cabins which were superb as clean and comfortable accommodation with great attention to detail to make them very homely, the pub and restaurant is lovely with a super menu, tasty food and nice friendly staff, it has a nice beer garden that extends to the cabins which are lovely and comfortable and the breakfast selection is superb. All round a great location and base for exploring the area or if fishing or clay pidgin shooting nearby as we did.

My parents and family friend went for lunch at Thomas Lord Pub to celebrate my 50th birthday. I cannot praise the staff enough for helping make it the most perfect afternoon for us. The lovely waitress Roxy, and her lovely colleagues, a guy and a lady that usually works the breakfast shift, (I didn't get their names), were just so friendly and helpful. Nothing was a problem and they really made us feel special. I'd been out for lunch at a pub on the outskirts of Winchester recently and was so disappointed by the extremely rude waitress there that I just could't believe how friendly, helpful staff really make a difference to the whole experience of eating out. The food was incredible, I had the fish and chips and it was out of this world, the batter was so light and crispy and the fish was so fresh. I would not hesitate to book lunch here again and would recommend The Thomas Lord pub to anyone!

The venue is beautiful. We walked into the pub and ordered cocktails at the bar, which we took to our table in the decadent dining room. It did take a left turn for a second, as they’d changed the menu that day, and we’d booked on the basis of the menu we’d seen online and the wonderful vegetarian options, which had changed. However, after a chat with the waitress and the manager, who completely understood a delicious alternative was offered. Food outstanding, venue superb, service second to none. If we didn’t live 3 hours away we’d be back tomorrow. Thanks to Kevin and the team! It’s a 5* in every way.

Visited for Sunday lunch with family (and a dog) and were very impressed. Nice surroundings, friendly welcome and a nice variety of local beers & spirits on offer. The roast dinners were superb as was the fish & chips had by our daughter. Desserts were equally as good (crumble, creme brûlée, ice cream etc). There were a few minor hiccups with service but nothing that detracted from the experience. We will definitely visit again.

Sunday lunch here today , very disappointing, we both ordered the roast pork with crackling , such a shame the crackling was soggy , not one part was hard and crispy… the potatoes and veg were good and it came with a huge Yorkshire pudding . Chocolate fondant was lovely but the crumble had very little flavour. All in all we felt it was very overpriced and having a 12.5% service charge automatically added to the bill is not great …

Spent a lovely weekend with The Thomas Lord as our base. We stayed in one of their self contained units 'bedrooms' to the rear of the property. Everything we needed, plush room, really comfy good size bed and separate toilet and shower room. Mini fridge and well stocked tea, coffee, hot chocolate. Large TV too, plenty of towels and additional extras. Our first night we had booked dinner in the pub, lovely pub and food, warm and cosy country pub vibe which was perfectly themed in the run up to Christmas and incredibly cold and frosty out. The food was lovely, and cocktails strong. I found the rooms/pub on Booking.com and was an excellent rate and great base for our weekend away. Would definitely book again.

We booked a room for the night and also had dinner and breakfast. The garden rooms are a fair size with decent beds. Only downside was that our room (no 2) was adjoining to another and the sound (tv/radio/talking) could easily be heard between the two rooms. The pub is lovely with a garden/terrace that would be great in the summer. However, the whole experience is really let down by poor service and food. The welcome and check-in was really poor, the dinner service was haphazard and food was disappointing. When we mentioned a problem with the food, it was apparently reported to the kitchen but we never heard anything back. The breakfast was really poor, with parts of it cold and other bits overcooked. Worse still, they are seemingly unable to fry an egg properly. Such a pity - this place could and should be great.

We stayed over at The THOMAS LORD and ate both our evening meal and breakfast there. As a Coeliac I was so pleasantly surprised to be presented with an annotated menu outlining all the adjustments and suitabilities for my diet, and even more excited to hear that the pub was aiming to have even more options in the future. There were hardly any options that couldn't be adjusted for my diet, and I could have *all* the deserts which is so unusual. The sticky toffee pudding was glorious, as was my main! The staff were incredibly kind and attentive and the atmosphere was lovely. Our room was also wonderful, and so was the breakfast which was cooked to order and very generous. We stayed in one of the garden cabins and even though these are next to the beer garden, we weren't at all disturbed by any noise. Overall, a great experience and I will definitely be back next time I'm in the area - I plan to work my way through the desert menu!

We had a very uninspiring experience at Hinton Ampner house and gardens so searched around for a pub on our way home. We pulled into the car park of The Thomas Lord and I checked Trip Advisor and there were a lot of “excellents” and...

We were staying in the area & having done a bit of research, chose this pub for an evening meal. The waitress who looked after us was fab, I’m annoyed that I can’t remember her name! The food was good & we would recommend if...

Quaint setting for a pub/restaurant. I visited with a group of friends at the weekend for the first time and will be back. Meal was great. First rate service from Martha, who looked after us on the day, smiley, helpful and couldn’t do enough for...

Poor Ingredients, cooked badly, served after a long wait by rude staff in a dirty environment for too much money. I'm guessing either management or ownership has changed as it seems it used to be good. Definitely not so anymore. One to avoid.

We stopped here for Sunday lunch on our way home from the New Forest. We chose a roast which was a generous size with fresh veg, a Hugh Yorkshire and the meat just melted in the mouth. The staff were friendly and service was prompt. Isaac was very friendly and helped choose a great red wine to compliment our dinner. Would definitely recommend a visit to this cosy pub… 🤩

We had a very successful family gathering in the Watercress Room. The staff came up with everything we asked for and thought ahead for us. Guests commented on what a nice place it was.

Visited a few weeks ago on a Sunday. Quite a boring pub in fairness, not much of an atmosphere was pretty cold in the bar area, and the drinks were average. Can't comment on the food as we didn't eat, but the restaurant was fairly busy. It was more of an eating place, I imagine, as one drink was enough and had no desire to stay for another.
