Our friends took us for afternoon tea for our 30th wedding anniversary. The food was exemplary and the service which included recommendations of wine was first class. This alone would be five stars. However, what sets the Talland Bay Hotel as one of the best places we have ever visited is its staff. We were welcomed by the fantastic Ruby who made us feel so welcome and her team from there on were brilliant. You are all stars.

What a fantastic find! We have been coming to the area for a number of years and have always had Sunday lunch at a local pub. The pub has decided to inexplicably close on a Sunday so we were recommended this place by our hosts at Treworgey Cottages. A wonderful experience we were looked after from the first by staff and treated to a very nice 3 course Sunday lunch. The food was excellent and the location overlooking Talland Bay superb. We will definitely be back - the afternoon teas looked very nice!

Stayed 4 nights after a wedding in Plymouth to relax and catch our breath. Firstly, the staff are just the nicest, friendliest people who made us feel especially welcome from the first moments. We ate all our meals at the hotel, breakfast was a very pleasant experience in the conservatory and perfectly cooked. The evening meals were exceptional, the Sunday dinner beef was out of this world, the fish and chips was the best I ever had (twice), the pork chop also unbeatable, the only way to have room for a sweet was to miss out on the main course. Our room was themed "Yellow Submarine " with portholes around the room with fish looking through them, bathroom excellent with a walk in shower, free standing bath, twin basins and a permanently warm towel rail. We had the most pleasant stay and would recommend it to our friends should they be in that location, 5 stars from us.

Excellent lunch at the Talland Bay hotel. We've been walking in this area for years and a friend recommended we try the hotel. There is a quiet, relaxed but efficient atmosphere, extremely friendly staff, and a welcome for us and our dog after a walk to Polperro and back. Delicious starter of ham hock with a crispy egg, then an extremely well cooked and seasoned rump steak. My wife's whole plaice on the bone was cooked perfectly, the only criticism being it was so large! I had a glass of Appasimento wine which was extremely good. Some interesting and quirky art works throughout the place. Will definitely visit again.

We keren zeker terug

My husband and I went to the hotel for afternoon tea, celebrating a birthday. The savoury items where lovely but thats where it stopped. The scones were dry, the blackcurrant jam so runny it ran straight off the scone. The cakes where not fresh and the pastry case so soggy it was impossible to pick up. Disappointing.

Honestly - the most outstanding staff, so friendly and knowledgable and clearly filled with pride. Bonus points also to the manager for not overbooking and having plenty of staff on hand to allow them to do such a stellar job. And the food. It was sensational all round! I had a pineapple tarte tatin which was genuinely the best dessert I think I've ever eaten. Wonderful surroundings, very strange decor which was a way too eclectic and took the shine off a beautiful old fashioned gem of a hotel. Oh and the mobile site is really difficult to navigate if you are trying to look up the hotel room prices and availability! Hope this is taken as constructive feedback on an otherwise really special place. thank you Jason and Harry and team!

If you do not possess a smartphone or have the sharpest eyesight then you may encounter difficulties dining here. Although there is a drinks menu in paper form in the bar, to order food and wine requires a phone and this can be for those with fading sight awkward and can lead, as in my case, to an embarrassing misunderstanding over prices which are not made crystal clear. I applaud all hotels and restaurants for taking steps to shield customers in these challenging times but it is illogical having taken such precautions to then not have any of the staff wearing face protection. The biggest disappointment of the evening was the condescending indifference shown towards my very easily made, honest mistake. The food was enjoyable but the overall experience on what was a special family birthday was much less so.

Talland Bay Hotel really is a little piece of heaven. We were lucky enough to have lunch here three times in the last couple of weeks, and each time the service was excellent and the food and wine really delicious. The staff are always friendly but professional, and Jack is a very good Manager. We know how hard it is to work in hospitality, and especially at the current time, due to serious staff shortages. We really wish everyone all the best, and thank you for helping make our holiday so lovely. You will be our first port of call when we return to Cornwall!

Food was outstanding and service second to none. James our waiter and the manager (as well as rest of team)really seem to care about what they deliver. I am allergic to nuts and right the way through there was super attention to detail with good explanations on where they had substituted and why, e.g honeycomb instead of nuts etc. The chefs clearly are on top of their game and turn out top class food which is worthy of some of the premium Michelin starred restaurants.

Restaurants have a difficult time under the current Covid 19 restrictions. They have rules to obey, safety to consider but also need to provide the sort of hospitality we desire.Talland Bay seems to manage that. Sanitiser options are all there and discreetly in use, but not thrust in your face. Menus are (slightly awkwardly on a QRcode but the waiters seem able to recite the options if you need help. We ate lunch out in the garden, even though an inside table had been booked - that seemed to cause no grief, even though it meant more work. When a shower forced inside for coffee some very neat and diplomatic shuffling of guests allowed socially distanced sofa occupation without a fuss - indeed it was hard to even spot that it had happened. So full marks for ticking all the rule boxes without spoiling the feeling of the place.Food was up to its usual standard - well-presented and cooked. Chunky chips are quite amazing. A starter of mussels could be shared between two people and was still ample. So glad that a good venue hasn't been spoiled by the "plague".

Appalling service. Booked a table at the beginning of the week - asked for a bay view if possible, but by no means a prerequisite. The day before, now with no ability to book elsewhere, they ring and say the weather forecast now means we can’t have a table. We had not specified an outside table - they had said specifically they could accommodate us either on terrace or conservatory. Can’t book elsewhere now, and are both disappointed and exceptionally annoyed.

We ate one evening in the fine dining restaurant which is a pleasantly decorated room with nicely spaced tables and a good choice menu. On the positive side the standard of food was excellent – we particularly liked the crab salad and the hake main which were nicely presented and tasted great. We finished with their version of a strawberry cheesecake which was absolutely stunning – the best dessert we’ve had in a while and worth a return just for that alone. The staff were very friendly but sadly the service standards are just not up the level of the kitchen. Cutlery wrongly laid out, waiters not knowing who had ordered what, no explanations about the food, no ice bucket for the wine carafes – all minor things but essential if you want to call yourself a fine dining restaurant and all easily rectified with some basic training & a decent maitre d.

Visited for lunch on Easter Monday with my wife and her sisterThe hotel overlooks Talland Bay and has some wonderful, quirky artefacts in the superbly, tendered gardens. We decided to eat in the conservatory as the weather was just starting to turn a little chilly. I can imagine that the outside dining area is fantastic in the warmer July and August days.We ordered sourdough breads for starters - more than enough to have one between two - we had one each and it was too much.We had grilled Lemon Sole, Haddock / Chips and Duck for main courses. All of the food was very fresh and tasty.Service was excellent - the waiting staff are extremely professional and friendly. Our lunch worked out at £40 per head including wine. This represented good value for money considering the quality, service and location.Recommend for somewhere to go for a special occasion or simply to avoid the crowds and enjoy the view!

I ate at the Talland Bay hotel last night. My experience as a vegetarian diner was very disappointing. Because the menu choices for a vegetarian are very limited I was allowed to choose from the brasserie or the fine dining menu. This extended my choice but didn’t improve it. Every dish contained goats cheese or blue cheese except one which had a cheddar like cheese in it. I know I am not alone enjoying the strong, salty flavours of these cheeses. In desperation I asked if there was a vegan alternative. I was told that I had to give 24 hours notice for a vegan menu. This is not good enough. I asked if the vegetarian dishes could be adjusted, the cheese left out or replaced with a different cheese. I was told that this was not possible as the dishes were prepared in advance and could not be changed, the kitchen was busy and running behind so nothing could be done. I could have had the child’s pasta dish which was the only thing without cheese on the menu that I could eat. Eating at the Talland Bay is not cheap and I think it is reasonable to expect choice and healthy options regardless of whether the diner wants to eat meat or not.My experience was so disappointing, the waiting staff are attentive and tried their best but are let down by such an unimaginative and old fashioned approach to vegetarian food. The restaurant is in a beautiful setting, in a wonderful area that produces beautiful food. Maybe the sleepy, tranquil setting meant that the huge shift towards veganism across the UK was missed by the restaurant. It needs to improve. Local pubs in the area are way ahead of the place with many having both vegetarian and vegan menus.

Well having read the most recent review, I cannot disagree more and we ate here on both 6 July and 13 July, one outside and once in the restaurant. This place is great, as is the food and the service. We had our dog the first time and ate outside, with the dog being given a cooked chicken breast and had lovely meals ourselves. Based on that meal we immediately booked again and had an even better meal the following week. Highly recommend this place and the staff are a credit to the hotel. The terrace is a great place to have lunch on a gorgeously sunny day. The gardens are well kept and quirky, and the views wonderful. The facilities were immaculately clean too. The lunch menu is on the pricey side and it's definitely quality over quantity here. The beef sandwich and BLT are a good size, fresh, well made and satisfying. We also had the salt baked beetroot and goats cheese salad, which was delicious. But at £16 the portion was rather mean - more like a starter than a main. Can't knock the quality of the produce and preparation however. The crab salad was apparently also good, apart from there being quite a bit of shell in the meat. Somewhere to go for a treat for those of us who don't need to use the hotel's heli-pad & no doubt fly in for lunch from London or elsewhere on a daily basis!!

We enjoyed the food as the menu was imaginative and presentation was excellent. Some rough edges in service - for example - in good restaurants one does not expect the food to arrive and to call out "who is having the fish" - in decent establishments the waiting staff known exactly who is having which dish. The décor is outrageous, this may be part of the quirkiness of the establishment but was not soothing to our souls! But go for the food anyway!

There are plenty of adequate restaurants in and around Looe but truly fine dining has to be sought out; I found it at Talland Bay Hotel at Porthallow some 3 miles from Looe. The narrow road (some passing places) from the Looe-Polperro main road is a little hair-raising but the reward makes it very worthwhile. The menu is exquisite, especially the fish and shell-fish; the welcome and service are professional, friendly and very efficient and the cost/benefit ratio is very acceptable. I recently stayed at the Talland Bay Hotel based on the corner of South East Cornwall. During my stay, after full days of sightseeing I dinned at the hotel's restaurant. It is headed by chef Nick Hawke and it was recently awarded four Stars and two Rosettes from The AA. As I am a massive foodie and the restaurant is among the best places to eat in East Cornwall, I decided to check it out.Location:The Talland Bay Hotel's Terrace Restaurant has a perfect cliff-top setting at Porthallow between Looe and Polperro and is just yards from the South West Coast Path and Talland Bay beach.Atmosphere:We booked our table for 7:00 p.m. When we arrived there were already a few dinners sitting down. We were greeted by a friendly waiter who took us to our table in the corner of restaurant and made us feel welcomed. Throughout the evening there were a few different waiters attending our table and they were all friendly and professional. The restaurant has a cozy decor featuring beautiful cream and pink chairs. Each table had a small fresh flower arrangement and there were lots of sea-side inspired accessories and arts displayed. Most tables also have a sea-view.There was romantic music playing in the background. The menu:The menu at The Terrace Restaurant offers a nice selection of dishes that are all built around the best produce from the area. The Head Chef-Nick Hawke provides his dinners with a high quality, traditional cuisine with a twist that is based on a fresh and locally sourced ingredients. We started our meal with some Prossecco and some Cornish Pilsner beer. Starters:To start with I decided to have some signature Roasted Cornish Scallops. I saw them on the hotel's Facebook page and as I love seafood it was a really easy choice to make. They were divine and presented beautifully. My husband had some Cornish Cider Pork Belly with Hogs & Black Pudding Terrine served with some parsnips, smoked apple, crackling and parmesan. It was cooked to perfection.Mains:There was a nice choice of mains but I decided to have a Wild Sea Bass that was accompanied by some smoked Bacon, caramelised cauliflower, potatoes, capers and toasted almonds. It was mouth watering. My husband had a West Country Beef Roasted Sirloin served with glazed cheek croustillant, Pomme Puree, some smoked garlic and salt baked root Vegetables. It was delectable and he cleared the plate in no time which is always a good sight.Desserts:I have a bad sweet tooth and having a dessert is always my favorite part of any meal. There were quite a few great desserts to choose from but I decided I decided to have Cornish Strawberries with a twist. I really enjoyed my little treat and it was delicious. My husband ordered a cheese board and honestly speaking it was the most generous portion of cheese I've seen in a very long time. Overall experience:We both had a lovely time at The Terrace Restaurant. You should definitely go there if you wish to discover and enjoy some local cuisine and admire an utterly unforgettable view of the Cornish coastline. All dishes were presented beautifully, service was flawless and atmosphere was romantic so we couldn't have asked for more. I will definitely visit it again whilst in Cornwall.

We booked this restaurant for a special occasion as non-residents and were hugely disappointed with the food. Whilst the hotel and staff were very welcoming - the so called Fine Dining Experience we were expecting was a very lacklustre offering and very average. We had a far superior meal at a restaurant in Looe for a fraction of the cost. The portions were tiny and certain items we suspected were not cooked to order and dried out. Some of the food was also luke-warm. We did not want to cause a fuss whilst at the table and on leaving the maitre d’ was nowhere to be found and no-one was on reception. We also found one of our coats on the floor by the door as we left.So I contacted the hotel the next day to request a refund of the cost of one of the meals in an attempt to put things right without resorting to Trip Advisor. There response was extremely defensive and basically accused us of blackmail. Their response was:''Unfortunately, your delay, together with this passage from your email:-"I wanted to give you the opportunity to respond and hopefully rectify this matter before launching onto Trip Adviser. I would hope that a refund of at least one of our set meals or our drinks for the evening would recompense for our poor experience at your hotel." feels more than a little uncomfortable. The directors of the hotel have stated that the hotel must never respond positively to requests couched in such terms. ''Instead we were offered a small discount for a further visit - which bearing in mind we don't live in the area as we were on holiday and bearing in mind the tone of their response - we were hardly likely to accept. So great service but poor food - maybe a blip due to Christmas but very poorly handled by the hotel management as we were diners who did not want to make a fuss in front of other customers.

As we had been to the Talland Bay Hotel Restaurant previously and were very impressed we booked a table on the 30 August 2016, 7:30pm for our wedding anniversary inclusive of a puppy dog (well 2yrs old). This was not a problem due to dogs being allowed into the Brasserie as not allowed in the main restaurant. We were warmly greeted by the staff and then introduced to our waiter for the evening Christian. the welcome was very friendly but professional. As we were ordering wine, Christian was extremely knowledgeable although no doubt all their staff are highly trained. When shown to our table, a dog blanket was provided and grilled chicken to keep the dog very happy. The meal was amazing,, starters followed by main course was more than enough for us. We both had the Dover Sole which included all the vegetables, so although you may think it expensive, our experience is that it was well worth it. We will no doubt visit again when next in Cornwall. Thank you to all the Staff especially Christian who was fantastic. Can not praise them enough.

This was our first visit to the restaurant at the Talland Bay Hotel.A comfortable hotel with a genuinely friendly and warm welcome from the staff. Location, whilst out of the way, is stunning with views across the bay. We chose from the lunchtime daily specials menu -mackerel with crab starter followed by Dover sole, both dishes were of a hearty size, very well cooked and imaginatively presented. House wine by the carafe was of good quality and moderately priced. Well worth searching out for a special meal in an outstanding location.

Vegetarian option available, and delicious amuse bouche and pre desert bonus dishes. Very good value for such fine food, better than many top London restaurants.

Staying in the hotel for a couple of days and tried breakfast lunch and dinner in this restaurant. We loved all the food they served, the chef deserved to be a star. Breakfast have so many choices, love the salmon and scramble eggs, the mussels was of large portion, very delicious. Avoid the smoke haddock for breakfast though, it was too salty. Overall a great restaurant. Highly recommended.

The food here is very good. The only reason I did not give five stars is because my John Dory was a bit dry. I don't know what went wrong because everything else was cooked to perfection. It's a five course meal if you include the amuse bouche and the pre-desert. Service is excellent and friendly.

I've had a lengthy association with Talland Bay since 1973. However, I'd never dined at the Talland Bay Hotel. What have been missing? Well, by the standard of the wonderful meal and excellent service we received last Thursday, a great deal indeed.6 friends dined to celebrate my mother's 90th birthday using their 'fine dining' menu at such a reasonable price of £42 per cover for effectively 5 courses! The food was excellent, the service faultless and unobtrusive and the place an idiosyncratic joy of interesting taste, unexpected touches and the most wonderful views over the bay were just another huge plus. Jack, the charming sommelier, had a ruthlessly amusing knowledge of his subject i.e. international Gins and Vodkas.I would very, very highly recommend this place to dine when in east Cornwall.

We were staying nearby on holiday and decided to book a table for lunch. The food was excellent, as was the service. It was mid-week and out of season so there were only a few other diners, but I can imagine this place is very busy in the summer. My vegetarian options were delicious. We had a lovely leisurely lunch on a such gorgeous sunny day that we just didn't want to leave. So we ordered drinks and moved outside to enjoy the huge gardens and stunning views. We'd definitely return!

We could not fault anything with the location or the food. Once sat in the terrace restaurant the experience only gets better. You definitely do not have a feeling of being rushed.

The conservatory in which lunch can be served has views across the beautiful Talland Bay and there is, also, the opportunity to have lunch outside in the garden on a warm sunny day. The staff are helpful and willing to assist and accommodate the wishes of its visitors. Nothing is too much trouble for them. I have visited the hotel on a number of occasions and each time it has been a total pleasure and very welcoming. Children are also very welcome and the staff ensure that they, too, are well looked after.

We had lunch at the Talland Bay Hotel recently to celebrate our anniversary while we were staying in the area on holiday. We ate in the Conservatory restaurant on a lovely sunny day and enjoyed the spectacular view over the gardens down toward the sea. Lunch was excellent, from the welcome on arrival, the delicious cocktail and wonderful meal. I particularly enjoyed the grilled skate wing. Service throughout from Jack was attentive and welcoming but unobtrusive. We had a perfect day - thank you.

Whilst staying at a nearby holiday cottage, we looked for a dog friendly place nearby. Surprised to find that this was so dog friendly that our dog even received his own starter of a full chicken breast. Views of the bay are fantastic & ate here twice for lunch. We both had Fritto misto of squid, prawns & whitefish with triple cooked chips - recommend. 2nd visit, homemade burger & hake & chips - again recommend. Highly attentive staff who could not do enough for you. It is not cheap as with drinks around £50, but we felt this was worth every penny. Can even stay here with your dog. Worth the trip even if it is just for a drink to take in the view.

Having had a superb lunch earlier in the year we again booked for lunch with our family (5 adults and 4 children) and I am afraid that this time the experience was disappointing. Difficult to put a finger on it but the food did not live up to expectations. For example the beef burger ordered for one of my granddaughters came burnt and hard which she could not eat. There was an offer to replace it but it didn't arrive. The hotel is well worth visiting for its beautiful surroundings and maybe we were expecting too much on the August bank holiday.

Came recommended by long serving BA cabin crew with "taste". Wonderful range of artwork and sculptures in and out set on cliffs of south Cornwall. Staff were friendly and professional. My squid and plaice in particular was v.good. A hard to please Scots companion loved his fillet steak too. Wines good if a little top££whack. Did feel a little like you had to whisper on occasions, akin to the old libraries (shhhh!!) but generally a great experience. Go.

When I enquired whether we could reserve a table for 7.30, I was told that 7.15 would suit them better. Having travelled from Hampshire to Cornwall on that day, we arrived at 7.15 quite tired and very hungry. We could not understand why we were not taken to a table until 7.55 p.m. The meal was much delayed, so that we had to negotiate very narrow lanes in the dark to return to our accommodation. That said, the meal was well cooked and delicious. We liked the interestingly quirky decor and the various objets d'art, which included paintings, fine sculpture and pots amongst a collection of candles and china cats.

Visited for lunch early August following a recommendation from another restauranteur in Looe. We weren't disappointed, it was a beautiful day so we sat out on the terrace, the grounds and the views are amazing. The whole place has a lovely relaxed vibe about it yet the staff were very professional and welcoming. I had asparagus and poached egg to start and my husband had mackerel, both were fantastic, the freshest of ingredients and exquisite flavours. We followed this with a fresh dressed crab salad and my husband had linguini. Again it could not be faulted but the 'piece de resistance' was my dessert - chocolate orange parve with pistachio ice cream - amazing, I can still taste it!! Lovely afternoon in the sun the setting was so lovely we didn't want to leave!!

We had a superb lunch in a lovely venue. My husband's dressed crab was excellent, and my friend's mussels were the best she had ever tasted. My risotto was also light and tasty. Table service was a pleasure. The whole atmosphere was relaxed and yet professional. I have no reservations about recommending this venue. (And if you're amused by spotting the many d'objets d'art, then this place is for you.) I would like to stay for a few nights as I feel this hotel would offer a peaceful oasis, sitting as it does gazing over the bay.

We are on holiday in Polperro and this can recommended by some people we met, I've been coming to Polperro on and off and never knew of it's existence ! We rang late Saturday afternoon for a table in the conservatory and managed the last table but at 630 which was fine .We walked from Polperro with our dog. On arrival we enjoyed drinks on the patio, the staff here are really friendly and efficient . Met by a lovely man who guessed our 630 booking and gave us drinks n menus .The menu choice is superb , also specials . We saw some main meals come out and based on their size, we wisely decided to share a starter. We had mackerel to start which was amazing, and plenty for two. Mains I really enjoyed fresh lobster with triple cooked chips, hubby had kleftico. We again shared a dessert which was beautiful a hazelnut praline , yum yum PERCI our dog slept by our table in the conservatory which has stunning views. I loved everything about this place, really lovely feel to it, amazing food, views and the staff are a credit to the hotel, everyone we came into contact with had a genuine friendly ness .What's not to like here. I wouid love to stay one day.We walked back to Polperro along the coast path, a perfect evening

The restaurant has two choices internal or conservatory. Like most of our fellow diners we chose the conservatory as it looks out over the gardens and out over the English Channel. This gives you fantastic views whilst you dine. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted and sat in the bar with a pre dinner drink whilst choosing our meal and wine. One of the strong points throughout the evening was the service. Friendly, not too formal but always there if required. Certainly no fault could be found with the staff, well done to all. Both the food and wine were excellent and there was no pressure to clear the table as in some establishments. A very relaxing evening with a stroll around the gardens afterwards. The only very minor point would be there is a very high mark up on the wines compared to some other establishments we have been to, however will certainly return, just order a different wine than normal as there is an excellent choice.

This restuarant came highly recommended for a special celebratory meal for the two of us. The location and views from the clifftop are fantastic along with beatiful gardens. The staff were friendly and professional, and nothing was too much trouble. They were more than happy to modify dishes to suit my wife's dietary requirements. The sea bass was superb as were the other dishes we had. This is not for those looking for a cheap meal, bit if you seek quality food in a fantastic location with excellent service I highly recommend it.

The staff are very friendly and professional, the food is excellent. We eat out in London a lot and it compares favourably. The view from the out door terrace is amazing as the hotel is up on a cliff top overlooking the sea. The terrace and gardens have been "decorated" uniquely and it all adds up to a really lovely drinking/dining experience. A small issue is that it can be very quiet - a little music would help lift the terrace atmosphere at times.

The four of us enjoyed an evening at the Talland Bay Hotel last August. I have intended to write a review long before today but was put off by some of the humourless comments on here about this place. Honestly, if you can't laugh at the ridiculousness of a female mannequin's leg sticking out of a dovecot.... I enjoyed the decor immensely. The garden was great fun - totally novel. There were some beautiful touches. The atmosphere was wonderful. The welcome so friendly. We had never been there before and the couple who ran it treated us like old friends. The setting on a late summers' evening would be hard to beat. It reminded me very much of Italy - absolutely beautiful overlooking the bay.The rattan patio furniture and planting helped the ambience. We all enjoyed our menu choices. The one slight downside was the fact none of the waiting staff were English which caused a little difficulty in ordering but they were polite and friendly. My mother and I both opted for the beetroot tart as a starter. I didn't expect much not being that great a fan of beetroot but like to be a bit adventurous and opt for vegetarian options if not fish. This is one of the nicest things I have ever eaten. It was caramelized and light and just delicious. I have found a similiar recipe online now and make it at home because of this. This evening to celebrate my mother's birthday while on holiday in Cornwall was everything we wanted it to be, we were not the only people who sat for a long time after our meal enjoying a drink and chat, totally unhurried. These people know what they are doing and are excellent hosts. A delight from start to finish. A truly wonderful find.

We had the Christmas menu with Christmas crackers and all meals and all courses were delicious.I love the eclectic artwork and the Christmas decorations are wonderful. It's not minimalist, it's interesting and though provoking and surprising. The loos are great too with White Company soap and proper towels.Quality place, will return I hope.

Booked a two day getaway for R & R through Booking.com. Stayed Saturday and Sunday nights on B&B basis. (1st & 2nd March) We checked in around 3pm and were taken to the room by friendly staff member. The room was introduced as a "Cabin" style room. At first we thought that it was quite small and very little room to move. Facilities were excellent and very clean and modern. Especially the bathroom. Again small but useable. Bedroom space was very different, tiny area, hanging space was at a premium. 3 shirts and the space was full. The bed was enclosed in a tight corner with only one access side, so exiting was difficult to say the least. I enquired about a bigger room and the extra cost to do so. I was informed that if someone did not show up I would be informed and the room would be offered. That unfortunately did not happen. I explained that my wife had limited mobility and found it difficult to enter and exit tight spaces but it appeared to fall on deaf ears. A follow up to say sorry no rooms were available might have helped us decide not to stay the second night. I think maybe it would have been better to book direct with the Hotel and the possibility of discussing room size etc. I thought for the money we paid Booking.com the room would have been more standard size. I get Genius discount with Booking.com so my assumption was completely wrong. We likened the room more to "Rabbit Hutch" more than "Cabin" For the price we paid I would consider the room expensive and more to be used as single occupancy rather than double. All other aspects of our stay were lovely, the staff, the public area's, food and drinks were all very good. The only other worry I have is parking ticket arriving at a later date. I asked at the time of check in if it was in order to park just up the road in the general Car Park and was told to give my Reg number to reception and that would be ok. On leaving the Car Park I noticed the "Have you paid an displayed" sign. We gave our details to a young lady service at the bar and she said she would enter it at reception on our room number (4). I checked later after returning from a walk and found it had not been and was done then but informed there would be a problem because the Car Park was not monitored. I hope that statement was correct!
