So pleased we found this little gem just off the main street. We had their cream tea and boy it was good! You got 2 scones, 1 plain and 1 fruit, served warm and I must say they were the best scones I've had in a long time. The tables had white tablecloths and the cream tea was served on China plates and China cups, perfect! The gentlemen who run this place were very warm and welcoming. I can't recommend this place enough, you will not be disappointed!

We had caught the steam train from Buckfastleigh to Totnes and decided to find a cafe in Totnes for a bite to eat. Whilst walking up the high street we noticed the A board for this cafe and decided to visit. Really friendly staff welcomed us; we ordered a cream tea, cheese scones, tea, coffee and a cake for our children. The cream tea was excellent - they were presented to us heated. The cheese scones were superb, the chutney was lovely, and we liked the blocks of cheese that came with the scones. The service was friendly and welcoming. No doubt will visit again when in Totnes again, highly recommend.

The Terrace Coffee shop is very small, with just a few indoor and outdoor tables. The food is good quality and presented immaculately but this means that it takes a long time as there are only two members of staff and a very small kitchen area. As a result, they seem to struggle to keep up with both preparing the food and cleaning the tables. While the staff wear face masks, continually touching these while preparing food makes them somewhat pointless.

First of all, this is a great choice if you have a doggie because the courtyard is sweet , sunny and sheltered from the hustle & bustle of the high street. The service here was very friendly (you have to go to the counter to order, so the people claiming they were 'ignored' are probably just thick) and the Homity pie was absolutely to die for - really well seasoned and cooked; you could tell it was homemade. I didn't have a cake but they all looked amazing and there was a great selection! Really calm, pleasant environment with perfectly simple food. All I would say is don't expect to pee in luxury - the bathroom is barely large enough to fit a fully grown person inside...

Having just walked around the high street in Totnes, we came across a sign saying "warmest welcome in Totnes" and of course it was too tempting not to see what this would be!The cafe is set a little way (10 metres) back from the high street and is nice and quiet. The courtyard (as shown in the photo) is nice and the Sun hits the corner and is out of the breeze. The two owners are friendly and polite and I got a warm welcome... okay so there was no fan-fair or balloons, party poppers or amazing garlands of flowers but hey, what else do you expect... It was a pleasant hello. The cafe was quiet, inside tables busy and outside anout 30% full. Coffee was fine, brought to the table - no problems. There were others that had a number of things brought, and it did sound like the owners went the extra mile by their - "wow thank you" remarks.Would I recommend or go again.... After 15 minutes second couple's table was cleared very slowly. Still no acknowledgement to us from either of two owners or boy assistant who could have just said they would attend to us shortly.. After 25 minutes still sitting at table covered with dirty crockery. We visited Totness (Thursday 25/06/15) travelling by boat from Dartmouth accompanied by our rather boisterous Cocker Spaniel, we were initially unable to find anywhere that was dog friendly and asked at another café we had used previously and they pointed us to The Terrace Coffee Shop. Although seated outside which we were happy to accept, we could not find any fault the service both to ourselves and the dog. My wife and I have piping hot lattes and wonderful lemon tart, as a bonus the waiter then found our dog a bowl filling it with water as well as providing our dog with a biscuit. We found this to be an excellent café, providing good quality food and great service. why have I only given this 4 out of 5, because I didn't see everything they did and when I visit next time I probably will.

Tonnes is a great town, with fascinating shops, galleries and places to eat. BUT the only trouble is that virtually everything is shut on Sundays. So, finding ourselves wanting a lunchtime bite to eat we found The Terrace to be pretty much the only place open offering savoury food. This could have been a recipe for disaster but, in the event, we had found an absolute gem. Delicious food, generous portions, lovely service and all very reasonably priced. Brilliant.

Stumbled upon this place during a weekend break in Totnes with my partner. Lovely staff and great food at great prices. I like that the cafe is hidden away and that you can sit outside and eat at your leisure on a warm day. Really lovely traditional place.

this little cafe really lives up to its location, light and sunny with chairs outside.Simple food from soup and sandwiches ,homemade pies and salad to afternoon tea in china pots, with cake and scones or just an excellant cup of coffee, all pleasantly prepared and served by Andy and Rob and their staff.Suitable for families, friends or business people but most notably by the locals!which says a lot for a little market town with so many coffee houses and that is due to its sunny attitude!

We stumbled across this café while visiting Totnes and were looking for somewhere to have lunch. The food was delicious, our party had a mix of lasagne, sandwiches and Cream Tea and none of us had a single complaint about anything. The two gentlemen serving couldn't have been nicer, they were really friendly and welcoming. Thank you guys! Lovely atmosphere too. Really highly recommend this café, and we will definitely be back when we next visit the area.

We are staying in Salcombe for a Winter break and visited Totnes today with friends before they returned home. We all had the excellent coffee, my husband and I shared the Homity Pie - delicious (have since looked up the recipe!) and our friends had pastries which they said were also delicious. The two guys serving were polite, efficient and friendly and the cafe itself had a warm welcoming atmosphere. Will definitely return when next in Totnes.

Stumbled upon this lovely little cafe whilst exploring Totnes. Despite it being New Years Eve and very busy nothing was to much trouble for the three guys preparing food and waiting on tables. This delightful cafe offers a good range of sandwiches, toasties, and light bites. My wife had the soup, whist I had cheese and bacon toastie served with salad. Lovely tea, and a flapjack to finish off.Excellent food, very friendly service, great value for money, thank you guys!

I work locally just a few doors down the road in a local opticians and frequent this lovely little cafe fairly often for lunch. I usually get a sandwich from their deli counter and they keep me coming back. I have tried a number of different options and none of them have disappointed. In the winter I especially like their soup of the day which is very well priced. I love the Mediterranean counter and often purchase a pot of Dolmades. If you're in the area I would recommend going here for lunch, you will be glad you did

We realise that this restaurant cannot provide a large menu especially during the autumn /winter but on our evening the fish choice was not on (replaced with a lazy prawn dish) and out of two desserts the crumble was also not available! Feel this is lazy as there is so much fish available locally and the excuses to not provide an apple crumble is in fact rather lazy from the kitchen. If you only want to offer pizzas and burgers, fine but don’t disappoint people with omissions.

My family and I had a fantastic and reasonably priced meal at the Imperial on Saturday. The food was tasty, plentiful and well presented - and the young waitress who served us was smiley and friendly. Will definitely return.

Dropped in for a quick lunch. Expensive for what it is. For example a small piece of frittata and a very small salad for nine ounces odd. Went home and had toast to supplement. Disappointing as had heard good things.
