Great café and probably the best bacon butty for miles. Freshest thick cut crusty bread, and bacon cooked to perfection, well browned but by no means burnt, just fresh & tasty. Cakes, lovely too, treacle slice for me. Well worth a visit.

We bought a cream tea of scones and cream, which wasn't. The scones were really bad, unraised and full of sugar, with sugar on top, like eating flour & fudge. The 'cream' was cheap whippped stuff. Everyone else in the country serves the real cream. I'm sure this saves money but it isn't what it shoul be. Its a nice place, nice people, but we left wanting our money back.

I have visited the tea junction several times and not once been disappointed. A warm welcome is always received. The decor is lovely and very quaint. The cafe is always spotlessly clean and the waiting times are always minimal even at busy times. Considering the cafes small kitchen and small workforce the girls always do a fantastic job ! I have enjoyed several meals here from hot pork baps , breakfasts, and yummy cakes, all the produce used is local where possible. And you can even buy some local produce to take home with you. Me and my family love it here. An excellent place, I would highly recommend a visit here you will not be disappointed !

Stopped for a coffee and cake only to find a very basic and unimpressive cafe offering hot/cold drinks and cake and little else. Only 3 tables were available to sit at, due to the reorganisation of the building in the COVID 19 situation. One of the tables was taken by the owner and a friend, instead of offering it to customers. A lot more space was available in the building- which was also partly a visitors centre for the Manifold trail, a path running along the river of the same name, plus a former industrial railway used for the mining of copper. It just appeared as though this was no longer relevant, and therefore not used to its full potential. The building next door was far more interesting - a former station converted into a toilet block!

Good to find The Tea Junction open in early January. As usual we were greeted by friendly staff and after ordering a pot of tea and pork and stuffing bap for my other half I asked if they could do mushrooms on toast for me which wasn’t on the menu. First visit - stopped off for a tea at the end of a 10 mile walk along the Manifold Trail. As you walk in there is basically one long table down the left hand side and two rows of tables down the right. The table on the left appeared to be occupied by some locals and, as we would later find out, staff, whilst of the 6 (?) tables down the right one was occupied, 4 had dishes and trays on them which had not been cleared, and one was clear, clean and empty (where we sat). I notice an earlier comment about a member of staff playing with her nails, and whilst there was no evidence of that, the place just didn't seem to have that spark, that cleanliness, that marks out a place where you'd really want to return to from an average place where you wouldn't go out of your way to return. A couple of previous reviewers have done 'then and now'-type reviews - people who clearly visited under a previous owner - but as a first time visitor all I'd say is: you've got a fantastic venue - at the end of a popular walking and cycle route - first impressions count, so you need to make sure that tables are kept clean. There's really no excuse for tables having trays of old food on them for 15-20 minutes when there are customers coming in and, as we found out, one member of staff had been sitting down and chatting to locals on the long table whilst all this had been going on.

Used to be a regular visitor to this cafe. It’s changed ownership & the service is friendly enough. Doesn’t seem to have to range of baked goods as before or anything out of the ordinary on the menu. Not much choice for vegetarians other than cheese and nothing vegan that I could see (the soup might have been) whereas the previous owner always had something like nut roast or an interesting tart. The coffee isn’t very good, although it appears to come out of a fancy machine it tastes like instant. In a fantastic location and seemed clean though. Also very dog friendly inside as well as out which is brill

I visited the Tea Junction today. I have been a frequent visitor to it for many years and was eager to give it a try to see what it is like now under the new ownership. I was very disappointed. Unlike the previous owner there was no warm smile to greet myself and my partner as we approached the counter to give our order. The menu and cake selection is very much reduced from what was previously on offer. The standard of food was poor - the cheese and tomato oatcake was obviously heated up in the microwave and lacked any flavour what so ever. Mugs of tea which you had to collect from the counter yourself. Such a different experience to how it used to be. The old cafe was a favourite of ours and many others in our cycling club but no more... I don't understand why when someone takes over a thriving business that obviously has all the right ingredients then why don't they try to emulate that? I wish the present owner well but would like to appeal to them to please reflect on how the cafe was run previously and see if they can make changes to put this place back on the list of top cafes in the local area. It's not hard - warm friendly service, good home cooked food with locally sourced produce. I might give it another go but am in no rush to do so at the moment.....

We made a detour to revisit as we had been before and always really appreciated the home made food. I am not sure if there is much difference between who cooks, prepares, serves the food or waits on. I was only vaguely aware of the Manifold Valley. It was only when my daughter, Emma, took a wrong turning several weeks ago on a trip to visit the John Smedley woollen mill in Derbyshire, we found ourselves in this corner of hidden England I vowed to return to explore its delights. On a day out less than an hour's run from home base we arrived at the visitor centre in Hulme End at the head of the valley just in time to find freshly-baked scones being drawn from the oven in the adjoining Tea Junction tea-room. A bustling Carole Davies was in charge of cooking - hence a smell of fresh baking to die for in what was the engine shed of the old Manifold light railway. Carole takes it in turns in the kitchen with the owner, Rebecca Simcock, to provide hungry visitors and walkers with a real taste of home. And it is all served like a "proper do," as we used to say when I was a lad, in real china teacups and plates and a pot of tea provided by Laura Grindey that would have done twice as many! My companions opted for Carole's still warm scones but I couldn't resist a hefty slice of lemon drizzle cake! Carole says apart from the regulars they have visitors from all over the world as well as home-grown tourists, and everyone thinks it is - a wonderful oasis! Nearby is the old rail route, now a wonderful cycleway for families and children of all ages. My first visit was almost a year ago but I checked today and everything is as good as ever.

We visited The TeaJunction for the first time this weekend. We had the homemade lentil and veg soup and shared a cheese & pickle sandwich. The food was delicious and the staff friendly, Absolutely recommend this tea room. We will certainly be revisiting

We love this tea room. Just had a lovely weekend break in Bakewell and cycled the Manifold Trail which is one of my favourite bike rides here. We hoped that the tea rooms were open, so stopped for a cup of tea at the National Trust place on the way and kept our fingers crossed that it would be open.

Superb tearoom, imaginative & tasty dishes for vegetarians too - something I find too rare usually! Lovely friendly service from Rebecca. It just goes from strength to strength. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Get on your bike at Waterhouses avoid the stop at Wetton Mill and continue to Hulme End have a leisurely break at this a lovely tea room serving proper English tea (good selection) in a traditional way. A great array of snacks, sandwiches and homemade cakes all made by the lady running the tearoom. The best though is the way it is done two delightful ladies each with a twinkle in their eye and a generous smile for all comers. There is also a lot of interesting educational things for children to do to keep them occupied - I sense a teacher input! Would highly recommend it to all.

This is one of our favourite post-walk and post bike-ride spots. The tea junction tearoom is situated in the refurbished engine shed next to the former Hulme end station which houses the visitor centre.

Coffee good and young lady serving very friendly and polite. Staff in the back preparing food with no gloves and getting orders missed or wrong but blaming others for their shortcomings

We held my friends baby shower at hettys today and they kindly let us have the upstairs room and served us high tea. It was such a beautiful room and we felt very special. The food was amazing and the scones were out of this world.

My friend had booked myself and another friend in for dinner here for our birthdays. We asked for bread and olives for the table as a starter, this was served with just 2 pieces of bread and there were 3 of us so we asked for another and the waitress said she had asked already and we would need to pay for an extra bit of bread, they also didn’t have the oil to go with the bread. Two of us ordered steak for main, I’d asked for no mushrooms, when they were served the sauces were on the wrong plates and mine had mushrooms, the waitress took it back then came back and said that my friend and I had been given the wrong ones so to swap and then it would be right. The steaks were so insanely salty, it made my friend and I feel sick. The chips were meant to be triple cooked but it didn’t taste like it. My friend had a blue cheese sauce and said it was quite bland. Our table was booked for 7pm and we were informed a few days before that quiz night starts at 8pm. This was fine and it was good to be informed beforehand but we hadn’t considered how loud it would be, the music during the meal was loud and the microphone was the quiz was also super loud so we couldn’t hear each other speak. My friend asked for something to be taken off the bill due to the poor steaks, the lady who sorted this out was great and very apologetic, she was very helpful in sorting it out, the waitress we had was also lovely. It seemed to be an issue with the chef. We hardly ate our meals and got McDonalds on the way home because we were so hungry. I would go back there sadly.

Popped in for evening beer. Community run traditional pub. Worth knowing it is cash free / card only.
