The Tea Barn in Selby

We were served by Oliver who was extremely polite and also very helpful. Nothing was too much for him and he really elevated our experience !!

Unfortunately I feel I have to review my recent visit as it was so disappointing. I ordered avocado and egg on toast and for nearly £10 you would expect it to be edible. The sour dough bread was burnt and so hard you could not cut it. The avocado wasn't seasoned and the poached eggs were over cooked. I understand the seating area isn't huge but we're were so tightly packed in next to other people it was rather uncomfortable. I couldn't hear my friend talking as their were so many people. Service was prompt and my coffee was nice but will not return.

We usually attend here at least once every two weeks it is on the expensive side but the food is always great! HOWEVER … due to the above we decided to book for afternoon tea for 3. Wow what a massive disappointment, we got 4 sandwiches between us. Which to be honest had been thrown together. 1 egg mayo, 2 cheese and 1 ham. The ham was cut so thick you could barely eat it. Sandwiches very basic. The rest was just cakes, I mean if you just want to eat cake you may aswell just go for a coffee and a cake as it would be a lot cheaper. No drinks included at all, make sure you are aware of this prior to booking as it is not displayed anywhere. Also there is no condiments, the sandwiches are very dry unless you are able to fight off whoever you have gone with for the egg mayo. No crisps included. You’re expected to use the same place for both sandwiches and your cakes. And all this for just over £85, I mean £85 for afternoon tea for three!! What average working person can afford to do the above, this was a special occasion for us not something we can afford on the regular. Sad shame as I really enjoyed this place, won’t be visiting again!

We went today to celebrate our daughter’s birthday/Christmas treat. We found the place friendly with polite staff. We had our dog with us that was given a sausage and also a welcome. We all had the festive afternoon tea at £18.00 each. The food was o k and we enjoyed our visit. We were given a box to take home what we couldn’t eat.

I wanted to love this place as Iv been wanting to go for sooooo long. Unfortunately it was very disappointing. Clap cold coffee….Betty Crocker cakes (I know a box cake wheh I taste one) Extremely overpriced. Looks so beautiful from the outside and the inside but the quality of food didn’t reflect this. Very young staff with absolutely zero customer service skills.

whent for afternoon tea tea and Coffey was not included in the price which was £30 what we got was 3 small sandwich each 2 scones strawberry and some cake which we cudent cut with the knive and had to pay for tea a coffee so it was another £8.93 more .money

This is our favourite place for breakfast, coffee or a lunch. It can get busy so best to phone and reserve a table. The breakfasts according to the other half are fantastic! The poached eggs are very good as is the chicken bagel. The cakes look fabulous and are huge! Staff are lovely ans friendly. A great place!

Still in complete disbelief at the way the lady cook handled my polite complaint, obviously not a believer in the customer is always right! Served by two very young girls (eventually) who I feel sorry for, if they think customer service begins with a confrontational approach followed up by a mouthful from the cook, well.... Milk was on the turn, coffee terrible just like the cooks conduct... Far nicer places to visit locally where you get efficient , happy staff and better priced quality food in a far friendlier environment. Don't waste your time or money unless you're in the mood for a mouthful if you dare have a complaint!
