Really good food, friendly owners i that bar on the edge of the world (well, almost ;) I highly recommend!

Fantastic food, sensibly priced and always the best customer service. Can't recommend it highly enough for a takeaway lunch.

Three of us called in for a quick bite to eat for lunch, took a while to decide between the large variety of sandwiches, we opted for 2 paninis and 1 cheese flatbread, all were good quality at a reasonable price, would defo go back to try the cake selection

This is by far the best lunch venue I have found in the area. Owner is so nice and will accommodate you as best as he could. Every thing I have tried so far is just delish! Today I had quiche with Ham and Cheese and wow what a crust. Bit pricey at £5 but there was a lot to it and honestly very tasty and I tend to get a Millionaires Shortbread with my lunch because they are just so irresistible. Would reccommend to anyone visiting the area

Because of dealing with traumatic cancer circumstances and the Covid lockdown we’ve not been able to visit since autumn 2019. We turned up on Sunday31st and first thing on Monday 1/11/21 we were dismayed to find the cafe closed and it had obviously been changed, hard to see whether or not it was still a going concern. It had, it is now a takeaway, closed on Mondays. So no beautiful picturesque fry up breakfast but joy on joy the Skink was still the jewel in the crown and available to take away. This, coupled with a frankly unexpected and delicious take on a hot pie ( beef mince and gravy), finished off with a Lemon cream short cake biscuit. Down by the beach in Kenmore a blissful almost tearful al fresco lunch. Warmest congratulations to Mariusz and your lovely wife for keeping going and it seems to us coming out stronger. We/I’ll be back. ASAP

Very good fish and chips on Fri eve, around 6.30. Be sure to order your "Friday special" fish and chips in advance as they ran out shortly after we arrived - as new arrivals we didn't know so were lucky. Popular. Ate in, fresh, crispy, generous and good tartare sauce. Liked the absence of plastic. I'm sure they would have many more customers if they stayed open a little longer as there were plenty folk around looking for somewhere and something tasty to eat.

We had a fantastic lunch however slightly pricey. The Paninis and cakes are amazing however for 2 adults with some drink at just less than £20 was a bit steep! Would highly recommend though and very clean!

I only had a bacon roll and a coffee, best I've had in ages. The other plus was it seemed to be the only place open before 10am in Aberfeldy in the middle of summer (we could clearly see other people looking for places to grab a coffee). One guy working tirelessly and clearly getting great results - people placing takeaway orders, quiche orders for the weekend, home bakes getting delivered. A cafe gem

We were so glad to find this gem of a cafe for a lunchtime snack. Takeaway only at the moment, but it's obvious they have regular customers, & no wonder! The paninis are huge with a great choice of fillings, but I hit the jackpot with a quiche. Has to be the best EVER!! Smoked ham & cheese in a gorgeous creamy filling- a large portion but far too good to leave any. If we lived here , regular customers we would be!

Covid has touched and changed everything, but how comforting to find the quality and tasty cuisine of The Tay still near perfection. For now, there is no indoor seating, but they do a lively take away. Don't miss a takeaway opportunity to walk up to the square and enjoy your meal. Even though I LOVE their morning rolls, I ventured in a new direction. They do a Friday night fish fry and theirs is the best Fish and Chips I have ever had. Besides the just caught taste of the fish enveloped in batter fried golden, it was paired with a caper mayonaisse sauce which both complemented and elevated the fish. The chips were pillows of starchy potato goodness. On another visit, I savored every spoonful of smoky, creamy cullen skink.

This cafe is offering great homemade takeaway food for breakfast, lunch and at weekends dinner. We had takeaway fish and chips tonight and so glad we did. Lovely cooked fish served and presented so professionally. I love that they made and delivered over 2000 meals to the shielding over lockdown. What a great place run by lovely people.

After trying a few places which seem the close or stop selling food in the afternoon or some like the Cinema Cafe had bad attitude !!! We went in to The Tay and were met by lovely friendly lady and a super accommodating Chef . We had the best meal of our 3 day stay in Aberfeldy . It was only take out fish and chip and a salmon quiche but boy was it good. Kept in a foil lined box (very nice touch ) it was kept nice and warm as we drove along the river to eat it .. Great to see such friendly and passionate people doing what the love and it shone through as the food and cakes were top notch ..

Nice little find. Shame it only does takeaway and it closes at 4pm. The quiche and the salad is excellent. Love the fact the salad is freshly made. I also tried the sandwiches which has generous filling.Love the fact they use compostable takeaway boxes as well.Strongly recommended.

Visiting Aberfeldy for the first time in many years we dropped into The Tay for some takeaway lunch. The food was freshly prepared, absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly as well.

Breakfast sorted, my kids love the bacon baps & an apple juice!!! Very friendly staff! Lovely welcoming place for a delicious breakfast!

Popped in for some breakfast, had a roll each which were stacked full of breakfast items of you choice. Both of ours were superb, great tasting and good value.Nice surroundings, some excellent looking quiches and cakes and the waitress was friendly and efficient.All in all very good indeed.

What a treat. The service was warm, friendly, and quick. We stopped in for a late lunch based on recommendations we read on tripadvisor.My Scottish partner had the best Cullen Skink he's ever eaten, and he's had plenty.I'm American and would say the same about the classic hot dog I ordered, with beautiful onions, coleslaw, chips and salad.It cost far less than it was worth, we left happy and full!

Beautiful cosy atmosphere and very attentive service. Me and my wife were here for lunch and both had the Tomato and Lentil soup which was to die for!!! Super tasty and hot, served with fresh bread and butter. We also tried some cakes with our coffee, and again they tasted divine. Would highly recommend The Tay for a tasty lunch, friendly service and atmosphere! Top marks!

We visited on a very cold Wednesday in early January and the cafe was very busy. (most other places were quiet). We went here after asking a local shop assistant where the best food in the village was and she said “The Tay”. I was looking forward to one of their legendary hot dogs and Cullen Skink- unfortunately both were off the menu as they were about to close the cafe for a week or so but I looked on this as positive as it suggests that the food is fresh and not frozen. We had tomato and lentil soup and quiche- both home made and very tasty. This looks like a family business with staff very pleasant and efficient. They deserve their obvious success.

Without a doubt the best food and service in town. Can recommend everything but be careful not too order too much, the portions are huge!

We visited The Tay 3 times in a week. Very friendly staff & excellent food. The full breakfast & the soup were particularly good.

Tasty lunch, lovely winter warming soup, sandwich and yummy chips and coleslaw with a hot chocolate to top it off, tasty fresh food at reasonable prices.

What a great cafe! Homemade quiche was amazing with lovely, chips, loads of salad and coleslaw. Homemade mushroom soup so tasty and halloumi and humus sandwich. Fabulous value for money and exceptional quality of food. Well done and we'll be back for sure 😁

Four of us booked a table at the Tay for breakfast and were delighted with the taste, presentation, quantity and quality of the food. Two of our party had the vegetarian option with home made sausages, haggis, tomatoes, mushrooms, egg and potato scones. If only we could get our hands on those sausages and haggis closer to home!! The other two had the meat version and relished every mouthful. I would definitely recommend the Tay - the cakes they were preparing for later looked lovely, the welcome was warm and the service swift.

Stopped in Aberfeldy for our afternoon cuppy but at 3.30 most places were shutting!! Not here and glad we found it. Really friendly waitress, the tea and coffee even came with a chocolate on the side. We had the tiffin and millionaires shortbread and both delicious. We asked for a cup of water for my little girl and a whole jug came. Highly recommend stopping here.

Stopped here for brunch our way home after a week's holiday in Perthshire and were greeted with a smile and served promptly. Fantastic 'Scottish breakfast' with the most delicious Stornoway black pudding and a large pot of tea. Highly recommended!

Made very welcome by the friendly staff.They sell the best cheese scones I have ever had and the home made Cullen Skink is, according to my wife, to die for. As my wife requires a gluten free diet, the service is so good, Mariusz, the owner and cook,phoned the baker to ascertain whether certain products were gluten free. Do visit when you are in Aberfeldy - you won't be disappointed

Great food and great service. Wife had delicious ham and cheese quiche, daughter had the Mozzarella & Pesto panini and I had the Cullen Skink soup. All were delicious and very filling. Highly recommended and just down the road from the cinema

Called for our lunch, we hadn't read any reviews or done any research, luckily we choose The Tay, very friendly service, excellent restaurant quality food and very reasonable prices, we'd highly recommend.

The Tay is a great stop for fresh food in Aberfeldy. We visit every year and this place is a traditional stop for us.

Visited The Tay twice when staying in Aberfeldy. Greeted by very friendly lady who on both days served the most wonderous cakes and scones. Can easily see why this establishment is rated so highly.

We stopped here on way to the Isle of Bute for a coffee, but decided to have a light lunch after looking at the menu and seeing the other dishes being served. The mushroom panini came with chips and a salad. It was very good value and tasted great. Service was friendly. We only wish we had more time in Aberfeldy to return to this very nice restaurant.

Definetely the best Place in town. Prices are tough but Quality is excellent. If you Stay in aberfeldy, do not miss it

8 of us crashed in for a quick lunch. Tables were pushed together, more child friendly bread suggested for the tasty sandwiches. The staff were totally unfazed and smiling and kind. Oh and the food (sandwiches, quiche, pies and coffees) was yummy. A definite hit. Thank you

Yes, OK, we had tea but went in for coffee! What a little treasure we found here. Our only food was Pecan Tart and Empire biscuit with tea but the choice was excellent; other meals looked very good, service was exceptionally pleasant and the surroundings were clean, tidy, warm and interesting with framed pictures on walls

So on the advice of TripAdvisor we took our two young boys to the “2017 Certificate of Excellence Winner”

Visited Aberfeldy when staying in the area for a few days,we were in a shoe shop and asked where could we get a good cup of coffee,the assistant said without a doubt you must go to the Tay.

We called in for lunch. A little bit surprising that the sandwiches were only available on toasted ciabatta, but the tuna sandwich we had was very good and the ciabatta very nice. The hot and spicy soup was also very tasty.

In sixty years or more of eating out, from Glasgow to Shenzhen 'the Tay' offers the most unexpected and enjoyable eating experience ever. Run by a delightful husband Mariusz (chef) and wife Dagmara (front of house) team, supplemented by agreeable staff. We've several times driven 60 miles out of our way to lunch here.

Popped in here for breakfast on our way home to Glasgow from Taymouth and it was amazing. I opted for the English Muffin with scrambled egg and bacon it was fantastic, my husband had a roll n sausage and his comment was that’s probably the best roll n sausage I have ever had. You need to give it a try

If you’re looking for a Full Scottish Breakfast, go no further than The Tay. Their Haggis is resplendent with the right proportions of meat, grains and spices. I know any breakfast with the word “Full” in front means a pork feast with large portions, but not only were these cooked and seasoned properly, the grilled mushrooms and tomatoes were flavorful and NOT mushy. I can still smell the yeasty goodness of the fresh baked rolls.

We came with our friends for a dance weekend and called into the Tay for lunch. It was excellent. From the moment we arrived the service was exceptional. We both had soup to start. I had Cullen skink and my partner had the spicy Mexican soup. Both were delicious. I then had the pulled pork dog and my partner had the bacon and cheese quiche. The dog was amazing. My partner found her quiche a little under cooked. This was no problem the staff replaced it and it was perfect. When we came to pay they didn’t charge for the quiche. Despite our protestations the bill was settled for under £13 pounds.

I have been here every day since we came to Aberfeldy.

I believe that I am somewhat of an expert in all things breakfast related. It is my considered opinion that The Tay serves the best breakfast in Scotland. The good news is that if you miss breakfast the lunches are pretty epic as well.

We had lunch at The Tay on Thurs 11 April. The welcome was very warm to us and our two dogs. A great range on the menu. Our meal was very tasty and very good value for money. The millionaire shortbread we took home with us was melt in the mouth!

I went to the cafe with my family when visiting Aberfeldy and I wouldn't recommend it. Food was fine, staff alright but the constant frying was a problem, while we were there it wasn't an issue but the smell lingered on our clothes and hair for the entire day.

The Tay is not a looker from the outside but step inside and you will find a real gem of a cafe. Delightful waitress, interesting menu and delicious food. The hotdogs might sound a bit run of the mill but what a feast for the eyes when it arrives, it is even decorated with edible flowers.

Great wee cafe. Friendly staff. Tasty food that looks amazing. When the plate arrived I understood why it's the top cafe in the area. If in the are I'd make a point going again. Amazing value for money.

After two stops for breakfast that were rubbish we found this gem of a place. Service was quick and very friendly, nothing too much trouble. Would highly recommend.

Soup of the day (sweet potato and chorizo) was lovely. Came with some mice seeded bread and butter. Had some earl grey tea as well which was nice. Service was great and staff were lovely.

Visited for lunch with a couple of friends, food was cooked to perfection, Marius is an excellent cook! Anna, our waitress, was friendly and efficient and was happy to put up with my awkward requests! 100% would recommend to anyone visiting the area. (P.s. if the pineapple and habenero salad dressing is on the day you visit you're in for a treat!). Sister shop, square feet, is also worth a visit, run by the lovely Dagmara :)

Was on the hunt for a decent breakfast whilst in Aberfeldy and The Tay truly delivered !!!, Having been used to the Aberdeen definition of a "fresh cooked breakfast" where most items have been precooked and kept warm in a hot box, I was absolutely gobsmacked when I was presented with a made to order Full Scottish breakfast, every item perfectly cooked and as tasty as it looked. Bacon, Sausage, Potato scones, mushrooms, grilled tomato all finished off with a fantastic coffee (eggs and black pudding or haggis were included but they are not for me).

This is a wonderful place to have a light bite ,they do wonderful open sandwiches, served with salads and chips , also baguettes hot or cold filling ,cakes and a great selection of teas service was quick and friendly ,it’s very clean and you must try the pineapple & chilli salad dressing it’s just amazing ,I will go back next time I’m in the area ,

Been using The Tay for several years now. It’s a great little place with great food and very welcoming staff. Their paninis are great value and very tasty.

In Aberfeldy for the day went to the waterwheel butvit does fancy teas, Im a plsin jane. Ended up in The Tay. Excellent service, nice atmosphere. Food coming out of kitchen looked amazing and yummy.

Popped in here with a friend for a catch up, Cafe smelled very strongly of food (greasy cooking smell) when walking in. Ordered cakes and hot chocolate. Hot chocolate was lovely and very pleasing on the eye! Cakes were terrible. The tiffin was soft and tasted artificial and the malteser slice was gritty, far too sweet and tasted slightly stale. Staff were lovely and the place looked very clean.

On holiday in the area and dropped in for a bite of lunch. Food tasted great, portions were very generous and the staff were very attentive and friendly. It was so good we went back the next day for the breakfast, which was even better. Thoroughly recommend The Tay for a bite to eat in Aberfeldy. Also allows you to take in your dogs and they even bring them a bowl of water.

we were slightly dubious about the 5 star rating before we went here but it really was very, very good indeed. delightful wait staff and fab food with generous portions too. we'll definitely return.

The Tay is a cracking wee cafe on the High Street in Aberfeldy. It may not necessarily look out of the ordinary from the outside but after you’ve enjoyed a visit inside, you’ll certainly think again.

A nice restaurant with tasty food and coffee. If you want to spend a good time for a reasonable price, it's definitely a nice place to go. I recommend it !

Stopped here on way to Kenmore,we ordered panini’s and a hot dog.At first i thought panini was pricey at £7 but i did not realise it came with chips and salad.The panini was very tasty, the chips were double cooked nice and dry and the salad had a nice dressing on it.

Stumbled across this place while out walking. Surpassed all expectations. So good. Great value for money and the food is to die for. 5 stars.

We stopped in Aberfeldy hoping to find somewhere good for lunch, not too pricey and some tasty local food. What a find. My husband went for the Cullen Skink and I had quiche etc. Both were so good but the soup looked and tasted one of the very best. Must go back to sample a full serving for myself! Don’t alter the recipe pleeeeease! Hope to be back next year. Such a pleasant couple running the café too - highly recommended.

We visited for a quick breakfast but ended up ordering more as the food was so good and service very fast. The potato scone and vegetarian haggis was amazing! We will definitely be back when visiting Aberfeldy again.

Lovely home made salmon quiche. Will not be disappointed. Desert was a mousse; chocolate top, mousse middle and salted caramel base. All topped off with a perfectly sweet hot chocolate.

We went in originally for coffees but had lovely soup and a warmed roll each. Friendly service and artwork on show, available for purchase. Awkward area to pay bill though, you need to be wary of a door being opened outwards!

Storm Ali had us down however a visit to The Tay Cafe raised our spirits.

We have visited the Tay on several occasions and found the staff to be very friendly and efficient. The food is plentiful and apealing - especially the best cheese scones I have ever tasted and, my wife asserts, the best Cullen Skink she has ever had. The place is small and always busy, but certainly worth visiting

We recently visited Aberfeldy for a weekend stay and looked on TA for a place to eat - this place was very highly rated but only opens for lunch so thought we may not make it but it turns out our hotel didn't do a very good breakfast so on our second day we headed here at lunchtime and we are so glad we did. The place is really small and it was busy but we got a table and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We ordered soup and panini although we looked at some of the other diners plates and I can say that everything looks good. The soup was amazing and the panini comes with salad, an amazing dressing, coleslaw and fries (its quite hearty) - there are lots of fillings, we tried 4 different ones and all were excellent. The coffee is also good but we were too stuffed for a cake. Its the perfect wee lunch spot when in a small town and we would make a point in going back should we find ourselves in the area.

The Tay was recommended by a local and we had one of the best Scottish breakfasts we have ever had. Good scones too. It is basic cafe food but done really well. The staff were both lovely too.

I visited for lunch recently after having The Tay recommended by several locals during a visit to Aberfeldy. Sadly, I didn't see what all the fuss was about.
