We stopped on our way to Balmoral to get a snack and use the bathroom. The steak bake pie was absolutely amazing. Highly recommend it. It has a lovely onion gravy taste. The pastry is delicious as well.

Has the essentials, and some scottish foodstuffs too. Saw some local cheeses, but was gone by the time I realised i should have bought it. You can buy pasties and drinks & sit outside on some tables. Friendly staff

This is a lovely and well stocked shop - with a really helpful and friendly lady. A great place just to sit down and relax with a good cup of tea and a cake....perfect!

Having discovered The Tickled Trout on a dog walk, returned about 3pm on a busy Sunday knowing that only the table for 8 can be pre booked. I’m told that at busy times, there’s not usually long to wait. What an amazing setting! From the main car park, it’s only a 60 second path traverse alongside the sluice gate controlled trout fisheries which is interesting to see. There is disabled parking at the front door. The old building is very spacious and rustic inside. The main burn (stream) openly runs through the insides and out and under large glass windows! Lots of attentive staff who seated us at comfy chesterfield sofas immediately and the dogs were warmly welcomed. There was also a Bichon Frise, Schnauzer and placid Doberman present! Our waitress explained that they hold Pilates classes in the cavernous space upstairs. Sadly after a busy afternoon and with only an hour to go prior to closing, some menu items were finished, such as the much lauded Trout Fishcakes and other all day breakfast items. Given the time, I completely understand this. However there were plenty of light bite options, tray bakes, including some gluten free Rocky Road, and a Stewart Dairies Ice Crème stand. I was tempted by a fruit scone but they only offer butter and jam so I took Malteser Ice Cream. I’d suggest offering clotted cream and jam for their scones as well which would be better received. We ordered the soup of the day which was Honeyed Parsnip and IT WAS TO DIE FOR!!!!! Thick, large bowl and homemade. 1st class. Latte in a tall cup was hot and delicious. So all in all, we will definitely be back. Thank you! (Closed Mondays snd Tuesdays if I heard correctly)
