The Taste of Bengal in Maidstone

We had an event for 14 people at home and pre arranged with the Manager Ash to have buffet style serving containers not the individual portion ones but bigger. We had arranged to collect the food at 6.45pm and it all worked like a dream and the food was delicious. Ash was very helpful when we were deciding what to order the day before. The team loaded the car when I arrived and were also very helpful. We wouldn’t hesitate to work with Ash and his team again. Thank you

Ordered a take away online at 19:30 went to collect at 20:20 and had to wait in the restaurant to collect for 50 mins so all in all 1 hour 45 mins for a take away absolutely diabolical service. If you c ant cope get more staff after all it’s no cheap

We ate here somewhat at random on our way home from the shuttle terminal. Feel like we got lucky. The food was really good and the service friendly. Would definitely visit again!

The food was all really good but the service was exceptional! We visited with our 3 daughters on a Wednesday night which was obviously a quiet night but the restaurant looked great and the food was really good. The staff made it extra special.

So lucky to have a great Indian on my door step. Food is as good as you will find anywhere. Chicken Jalfrezzi is a must.

Went with some oldies for a lunchtime. Food was excellent as was the waiter. Was a little cool inside but manageable. Not the case during evening visits.

There were 12 of us and the meal was fantastic we all had a great time and meal on the 26th of August 2023

Ordered food from the online menu, it came to £43. When I picked the food up twenty minutes later I was charged £55. When I complained I was told the online menu is out of date. No refund, just sorry and a smile.

Come here once and will always return. Amazing restaurant, great food and very welcoming staff.

Beautiful Bangladeshi restaurant with welcoming staff and very friendly atmosphere. We ordered the set platter for 4 which had a wonderful combination of starters, mains and coffee. The mixed meat starters was particularly amazing as it was sizzlers with lovely taste. Mains had varied combination of Veg and Non-veg. Would definitely recommend “The Taste of Bengal”, if looking for a lovely restaurant with friendly staff and great tasting food at reasonable price.

As Indian restaurants go this is one of visit again. The food is great and the the staff are very attentive and helpful. There's are a good range of dishes and the ones we ordered were wonderfully cooked, presented, and hot. Best Indian I've had in quite some time.

The food here is always amazing, the staff are friendly and very helpful if you are unsure what a dish is. This is my favourite takeaway as the food is never overly greasy and the portions are perfect.

Been meaning to write this review for a while. We recently moved to area from Maidstone and we had previously heard from friends how good the food and service was here. The recommendations were justified. This has now become one of our go to for takeaways and eating out. The food is always fresh and amazing quality. The staff friendly and welcoming every time. Book in advance at weekends as gets very busy. Easiest 5 stars I've given. Top notch.

As I am working Valentine’s Day I took the mrs here last night for a change. We used to be assistant managers in the pub next door (not there now) and knew the restaurant well. To be fair I thought the food was lovely but pretty expensive compared to others , mains £10.95 , sides £4.95 our bill was £58 which was only the basic of meals for that money. The most annoying thing is that the table behind us got offered all sorts of drinks after there meal on the house which I thought is a nice touch but myself or the mrs didn’t get offered anything once we finished the meal I wish I hadn’t over heard the table behinds offer as otherwise it wouldn’t have bothered me . So we left feeling like we were intruding almost which shouldn’t be the case and although the staff were pleasant enough and the food was great we will not be rushing back here to double standards

Me and my boyfriend are regulars here as live in the area. Both for takeaways and dining in. The food is lovely, can recommend the chicken tikka biryani, Bhuna, king prawn madras & naans are fresh and delicious!

Overall experience Was horrendous, I live in the village but I’m not the biggest fan of Indian food my girlfriend is so I decided to book a table for eight, I have to say I can honestly say we received the worst service for a restaurant ever, what was more upsetting is that We had to witness customers being treated so much differently, this got so bad we was having too put our Bottles of wine and empty glasses on the floor as we had no room on the table the restaurant staff could see this as was happy for that to carry on, I felt so embarrassed that I decided to pay the bill upfront hoping to get better service,In absolute honesty the food was nice the customer service me and my family personally received was totally unacceptable,For that reason I would never return to this restaurant I would never recommend this restaurant to anybody and it’s such a shame as we live in walking distance.

We are new to the area and have used this restaurant twice now for takeaways. The food on both occasions was really tasty, freshly cooked and hot, really nice flavours, would recommend to others.

Nice food, great staff but over priced we had a meal, a drink each nothing elaborate and the bill was almost £80 for two of us. I paid, left and that'll be my only visit.

Excellent Indian restaurant Staff were extremely polite and caring. Plus a vast section of curries. I highly recommend.

Absolutely vile bland sloppy and undercooked

We have used this restaurnt for Many Many years. Went yesterday and as always the welcome was lovely and the food okay although the Mushrooms we had were bland which is very unusual. The waiters had masks but they were being worn below the nose which is silly and useless. So many customers, including takeaway ones, were coming in with out masks and were not being challanged. We actualy felt unsafe. Will not be going back while the Covid problem remains unless they take it more seriously. Very sad.

Living locally, we have used The Taste of Bengal for a number of years - mainly as you cannot get delivery in the village and this is the closest. Whilst the food is generally good, the takeaway process is infuriating. Usually will ring through an order to be told 45-1hr - fair enough. However, it seems that regardless of this, the order is not passed to the kitchen until you physically turn up. Consequently, you always end up having to wait 25 minutes plus in a small waiting area once you do get there (which is not ideal in these Covid times). Tonight was a case in point - rang at 7pm, told be ready by 8, arrived 10 past 8 - eventually got it 8:40. Similar experience last 3 times. Whist I think it’s great that they are busy, I just wish that they could give accurate pick up times so I don’t loose big chunks of my precious Friday or Saturday nights!

We went for a on-off visit while in the area and were pleased to fine good quality food with friendly staff and free parking on site.

We have been going to the Taste of Bengal since we moved the Harrietsham three years ago and the food is always wonderful and just cannot fault it. They have the usual Indian favourites but also have their own Bengali specialities which are a delight. How they manage to get the lamb so tender is obviously their secret.If you live nearby then please support this wonderful restaurant because it is the best for a very long way.Michael

I recently purchased a takeaway so cannot comment on the restaurant. But based on the takeaway I would have no hesitation in recommending it.

Eaten here many times and always get takeaway from here as it’s our local Indian. Tonight we went it to pick up a takeaway after a long day at work and my partner had ordered a chickpea curry on the specials and oh my goodness it was amazing and I had my usual lamb jubaly but tonight that was extra yummy! We also tried a cauliflower baji which we don’t usually order but that was very impressive too! Great food, always greeted with a smile and great service!

We got a take away and we were underwhelmed by the food which was very bland we had a butter chicken and chicken tikka musala and they tasted the same I would not eat from there again.

Just been to the Tuesday banquet for £12.95 each for the first time and it was great couldn’t fault it we got there at six and was served promptly by great staff so much food we couldn’t manage it all will visit again soon for this brilliant value meal

Booked a table well in advance for a celebration. arrived promptly at 8pm. Three other couples in the restaurant, none of whom were eating. We ordered our meal and then waited for 1 hour 20 minutes for the food to arrive. Nobody came to explain or apologise, and when asked we were advised it would be another 5 minutes, and then another 5! When it did arrive the Tarka Dhal was luke warm with a layer of congealed skin over the top, and the cauliflower bhaji tasted lovely but was also cold. What a disappointment, not even a glass of lemonade to compensate. Will not be returning for a second serving

We have had a few takeaways from here but mostly because we are in a village and other Indian restaurants are miles away. On a good night it’s pleasant and big portions which are always piping hot. It’s above average prices but I expect that’s due to the fact there’s no competition what so ever. If you can’t be bothered to cook and fancy a night in with a few beers then this will suit down to the ground.

We have been visiting this restaurant regularly for the past 15-20 years. Living the other side of Sittingbourne and journeying past many other Indian restaurants en-route, this one really takes some beating and well worth the extra mileage. The food is excellent, extremely flavoursome with distinct differences between the dishes. The restaurant has fantastic service. The staff really are attentive and cater for all needs and requirements.

My partner and I live locally to this restaurant and venture in a lot. I can honestly say we have never had a bad dish here, everything is delicious, freshly cooked, perfect service and all the staff are so friendly and welcoming whenever we arrive.If you live in or around Harrietsham then you must give it a go! Highly recommended

This is a good local Indian on the A20 in Harrietsham with a restaurant and a busy takeway trade. Kingfisher and Cobra beers are on tap and there is an adequate car park.

Food was great, if a little cold. However it took over an hour for our starters. Then over an hour for our mains to arrive. If we had not spent over 2 hours waiting for food, i would have sent it back.

Being fairly new to harrietsham I tried this restaurant for a take away tonight. Having ate Indian food in most parts of the UK this is possibly the worst I have had. The main course was tasteless .the sauce was like tomato soup with no taste of curry what so ever. It is so disappointing as it is walling distance from my house .

I tried the restaurant again after 2 years of not using and can say Ash has up the quality of the food.
