First meal after lockdown and was fantastic in every way. Food, staff and atmosphere just perfect and felt like a real treat after such a long time.I could have chosen anything off the menu as all looked so good. Will definitely be visiting again very soon.

Just finished our absolutely delicious toast beef takeaway. It was piping hot when we got home and the beef was exceptionally tender. All the vegetables were cooked to perfection. Then the completely yummy apple and rhubarb crumble and custard. Don’t think I can move for a few hours now!! Thoroughly recommended. And no washing up - even better.

An excellent meal fitted in just before lockdown. Staff were brilliant and clearly following the COVID protocols to make everyone feel safe. The bonbon starter was excellent. Chunks of really tasty pork. Often you get less meat and certainly not in big enough pieces to really savor. Burger and fish and chips were great as was the rhubarb pudding. Never felt rushed (had to have a break before pudding). Portion size really healthy and a great experience. Well recommended and hope it continues to do well when it’s allowed to a open once again.

Had a great meal out here last night. Good covid measures in place and great service from the whole team. Had a gorgeous dessert cocktail (brandy Alexander) instead of a pudding. Only reason not 5* is I had the Bon Bon starter which I loved but having seen a picture of it on your Instagram feed, felt a bit short changed as I only had one type of beetroot garnish (and not very much of that!) and it’s one of my favourite veggies. If using social media to ‘sell’ specific dishes please make sure the actual dish served looks as good as the photo. Other than that, a perfect experience. Wish the whole team the best whilst you’re closed, and hope to see you again when you re-open.

Been wanting to try this place for a while. We normally always travel to Market Harborough to eat out so thought we'd go the other way, a 40 minute journey so a bit further. Seated in the conservatory, the menu more limited to what was online. After 15 minutes the starter arrived, pulled pork & stilton bonbon. This was so dry and flavourless, couldn't taste any stilton, inedible. Service was slow, no one came to check if everything was ok or ask if we needed another drink. When the waitress returned she asked if the starter was ok as we'd not eaten it, I explained the problem. Another waitress appeared and offered a side dish or coffee, I didn't want anything else but mentioned how cold it was and she put a small fan heater on (When we arrived 2 large windows were open, it's been raining all day) the heater cut out after 5 minutes, back to being freezing again. Another 40 minutes passed, no sign of the main course, no sign of the waitress. By this time we'd had enough. I went to find out what was going on to find one of the waitresses sat eating her dinner! When I told her we were not prepared to wait any longer and that I would pay for my drinks and leave, anywhere else would apologise and not charge to be honest, she used the excuse they'd had a busy day so the chefs were on a break! Not so on a break that they made sure she was fed though! I am absolutely appalled at the service, quality of food and ambience of this place. Such a wasted journey, disappointed is an under statement.

Booked Sunday lunch for family (4 adults now) on a recommendation.Daughter suggested we all have pigs in blankets (they were v good). When lunch arrived, beef was so tough, so we ordered steak knives to assist. Most of veg either under cooked or overdone, cauliflower cheese swimming in oil.Enjoyed what ended up as an expensive sausage and mash in the end ! Daughter predicted good !Tip - Choose something other than the beef and keep sausages in reserve.Venue, staff and surroundings first class otherwise.

Following a birthday gathering a few years ago which was fantastic, we decided to take a Sunday lunch trip (travelling 45 mins!) it was worth the trip!!! The Sunday lunch was incredible - awesome starter and the vegetarian fritters with the roast dinner was absolutely amazing! The service was so so quick and the staff were more than friendly going above and beyond to accommodate us in the bar with our two dogs who also enjoyed a little snack. We weren’t left without anything and everyone seemed to go above and beyond! Amazing food - I have a real issue in restaurants with food never being warm enough for my preference but here it was so hot and perfect! Awesome selection of cocktails and gins as well as wines too. And beautifully furnished as well. They make the current covid climate seem worlds away! Such a brilliant experience on a Sunday. We will be making the trip many more times I’m sure!

The set meal is still a very reasonable £12 a head for three courses. Small starters but they tasted great, the main burger seemed homemade and the haddock was wonderfully crispy, but it was the puddings which were the biggest surprise. Utterly delicious. And served by happy enthusiastic staff, in a well-spaced and obviously hygienic environment. Everyone connected with this pub should be very proud.

Really disappointed with our experience at The Tap and Run which was booked following a trip to Belvoir Castle. Our starters of calamari were cold, we were kindly given replacements but regardless they were tasteless and extremely chewy. As most people are, we were initially very hesitant ordering calamari as it’s very hit or miss so it wasn’t too much of an issue. Our mains however, just weren’t good. The meat in the pie was tough, the gravy was congealed and the mashed potato felt like it had been sat around in the kitchen as it was barely warm, thick and almost had a film on the outside. The only saving grace was the set menu, which you offered 3 dishes for £20 which is great value for money! But unfortunately, we expected the same quality dishes that you’d expect ordering from the main menu as these dishes are listed on the main menu for £15/£16 and we would not have been happy to pay those prices based on the standard we received.

Pub/Restaurant well appointed was the first impression. The price of drinks was very much OTT, £8 for a glass of Prosecco ?The menu was limited and 20% overpriced compared with similar places. Two pieces of ham about half the size of a golf ball, coated in something and deep fried, this was called a ham hock fritter, £6.95. If you are going to serve something that small, don's serve it on a large plate, it looks ridiculous. On to the Beef Brisket pie, It has to be said, the meat was very palatable, the pie crust however left a lot to be desired, very brittle. For the privilege of eating this gastronomic delight, not forgetting the "gravy", £15.95 for Pie and Mash !Service was friendly and attentive, particularly when continually asking if any further drinks were wanted. To sum up, I will not be making the trip up the A46 again and "Tap and Run" will not be going on my list of where to go on a Saturday night.

Fantastic evening, thank you to Tap & Rub and The Money Music We booked last minute and we were seated in the corner of the bar area. Upon seeing we had a wheelchair and disabled child the waiter asked if this seating area would be ok as there was live music in the bar. We said we weren’t sure as it can be difficult to predict our daughter’s sensory needs. The waiter assured us that should we have any difficulties we would be relocated. This might not seem a lot but trust me we’ve had many a nightmare meal out because of sensory overload so this gesture means a lot to us. Also I do believe that had we experienced any difficulties they would have gone out of their way to move us and make sure we had a pleasurable evening. It was a surprise to learn there was live music as we hadn’t looked online or on any of the pubs social media before we booked. We loved it as did our daughter and the addition of quality live music suggests to me that the Tap & Run understands that an enjoyable evening out is about more than good food, which they also provided. I want to also highlight that this meal was made on the very last day of the government’s ‘eat out to help out’ scheme. Can you imagine how busy all restaurants, gastropubs and basically any eatery taking part would have been over August? No me neither but I do know that working in a kitchen is demanding at the best of times but add the August heat to 3 nights a week of unbeatable promotions and you’ve got a recipe for extremely hard work. So to produce a good meal on the back of a whole month of serious graft is an accomplishment in itself, credit has to be given to the chef, kitchen staff and waiters. Was it the best meal I’ve ever had? No BUT it was a good meal and certainly the overall experience very good and was far more than an average bank holiday Monday. So thank you to the Tap & Run and to the vocalist from The Money Music.

This was my second visit to the Tap and Run and this time, I met a friend for Saturday lunch. I'd received a special offer via email that gave me a discount on their already very good value 3 course meal offer so this was the incentive to drive over from Nottingham. It's a beautiful venue and the service is very good - the only slight challenge is that sometimes, their car park is so busy that you have to find somewhere else to park - it's a popular place! I'd been ill and had lost my appetite so wondered whether I would manage to eat very much on the day. The salmon main course was beautiful - I managed all of it! And my friend had the beef which also melted in her mouth. But the champion was my peanuty butter cheescake with blueberries and clotted cream. OMG :) It was stunning! I could literally only manage a couple of mouthfuls and was then full to bursting but the fab waiting staff wrapped it up so I could take it home and slowly eat it over the rest of the weekend. Congratulations Tap and Run for getting every aspect of our visit right - I am your advocate now!

The first ever time I've felt so agrieved and angry I've taken to create a TripAdvisor review because I feel duty bound to advise everyone to avoid this place. (1). Dirty cutlery (2) Dirty plates (3) My 10-year-old can cook better (4) My 10-year-old asked "Daddy, why isn't the food cooked?" (5). "Belly Pork" is not a 2 inch slab of uncooked white animal fat (6). I love rare beef, but completely raw, bleeding with a pulse NO!... I could go on...When a whole table of diners are complaining, where the hell was the chef?! Surely any self-respecting and professional chef would have taken an interest.Whilst the serving staff were all doing their best (thank you for trying), I'm afraid the management and chef are completely incompetent and out of their depth.Looks like a cricketer thought it was money-spinner to open an expensive restaurant then fail to put the capable management in place to deliver the promise. Recommend you go to Miller & Carter for a quality experience, but to be honest, a filthy KFC in a box would have been better. The greasy donna kebab from the dirty van outside my university student union 25 years ago was better. You know the 30-second rule about food dropped on the floor… you get the idea.Yes, I'm angry, an important day and time with family was ruined and the useless manager only made matters worse.Does TripAdvisor not allow me to rate less than 1?... it's a a full 1 they don't deserve.

Superb time spent at the Tap and Run. Firstly greeted with a relaxed and welcoming vibe from all the staff particularly the new manager (Jack) who couldn't do much more for us. Fantastic atmosphere, waiting staff were accomodating and extremely good throughout our afternoon/evening table service was very much appreciated. We love this place and would highly recommend for a drink or a meal. We can't wait to go back and try their new menu. Thanks so much! M&G

As a local it has been a long wait to have a pub in the village of this calibre. The owners have done a fantastic job of lifting what was a below average pub into some where that is an absolute pleasure to visit. Having a new puppy, Meg, on her first walk, we had Sunday Lunch in the casual dining area. The main dining area was fairly busy and all the staff are brilliant and they love to see dogs and their owners call in for a drink or something to eat. Our meal was a proper Sunday lunch, served efficiently with the empty plates a sign of the approval of the food. The discreet (cricket) décor makes for a very pleasant atmosphere and for those with an interest there are 18 bails secreted through-out the pub. (I have not found them all yet!). From previous visits it's nice to know the passionate management take on board any constructive criticism given in a friendly way and they are always looking to improve the experience of the visitor.I am not sure I can walk Meg by the front door without being dragged in!

We were really impressed with our meal today. The food was excellent and the staff were all so welcoming and accommodating. They changed the vegetarian menu around to suit our tastes and pulled together a perfect children's meal for our 4 year old. Topped off with it being in a great location and well styled interior. Will definitely be going again

Visited on a Sunday afternoon for roast dinner, arrived and were seated in a corner, we felt almost like we were put out the way? We ordered drinks and two roast chicken dinners, they arrived and looked absolutely nothing like any roasts we have had at the Tap and Run previously, that was my initial thought. Then noticed there was no Yorkshire puddings, when I asked the waitress she advised these we an added extra and would be like to purchase them. Now I’m sure again, the previous 4 times I have been for Sunday lunch here they came as standard. The next thing was it was absolutely swimming in gravy, the potatoes were soggy and underdone, and tasted like soap? Like they had been sat in a soapy dish? The chicken and veg were lovely but again nothing like previously. We then ordered the brownie which was bland and dry but the white chocolate ice creams saved it. We then sat for 20 minutes before anyone came to our corner table so went up to the bar and paid. I feel this visit wasn’t a true reflection of the potential the pub can offer, I have been to the tap and run all together about 9 times and today’s visit was no where near the standard I have received the other 8 times I have been. I have always loved coming to the pub but today felt like the standards had slipped.

Having seen this pub on social media I was keen to see what all the fuss was about. When you get there, the first thing you will notice is how well the place is done out, obviously as a result of a recent refit/refurb. The place has a great feel, not too stuffy, relaxed but reassuringly upmarket. We were met by the manager, who showed us to our table. I believe he is a new appointment, and all I can say is that he was extremely professional, polite and attentive. We all ordered a 3 course meal, everything was punctual, well presented and tasted delicious. I would personally recommend the roasted pork belly and crackling...it was perfectly cooked and full of flavour. The waitresses were very friendly and always had a smile....service was top notch too!Looking forward to visiting again

4th visit to Tap and Run was on Good Friday Evening.Unfortunately restaurant was very quiet with little atmosphere but possibly because since opening the menu appears to have gone down hill and is now very basic and uninspiring. On offer was pie, burger or fish and chips - not sure if new chef on the job but certainly not worth the effort to drive out to Upper Broughton for food you can get anywhere locally at much better prices - before we were prepared to spend more money for a really good menu of very good food but will now not bother returning until menu improves.Such a waste of a brilliant refurbishment which has quickly gone downhill.

We visited the Tap and Run today for the first time, we have previously visited The Three Crowns (their sister pub) in Wymeswold. The pub is gorgeously decorated inside and out, there’s a few different areas in the pub to eat - the conservatory looked lush! The Cat and Wickets team have spent a lot of time planning all of the details. I opted for the chicken roast dinner, the chicken breast was ok not the most flavoursome, but everything else was delicious! The husband had the pork belly, he absolutely loved it. I then squeezed in the sticky toffee pudding which was just the right amount of sweetness. There’s local ales available at the bar which is always a winner with us.The only niggle is the carpark, thankfully we got there early enough to get a space but as we were leaving folk were having to double park which isn’t ideal. Would definitely return.

Came here for the first time with friends and we all enjoyed our food. Service was very good and they were very helpful. Only thing I might mention that on the day we came there were a lot of things on the menu with chili which our friends can't eat unfortunately. I had the spicy soup which I thought was fine and very tasty but our freinds would not have been able to have it. However would certainly come back. The decor is lovely and there is a very nice conservatory. Outside at the back there is a lovely view towards the church and will be very pleasant sitting outside in the summer. The fixed price menu at lunch time we thought was very reasonable.

Visited on a Saturday night. Service was friendly and efficient. Starters were substantial, the baked camembert for two was more than enough and the spiced pepper soup was delicious, although I'd add that it’s that it is very spicy which was fine for me but might be a bit much for some tastes. The only minor criticism I would have is that the restaurant was really hot and perhaps the heating needs turning down a little. Otherwise it was an excellent evening and would definitely recommend.

Recently been refurbished to a high standard with underfloor heating. The menu offers a good variety, starters from £5 - £7.95; mains from £12 - £25; desserts to £7. Makes for a special meal out, a bit pricey for a "can't be bothered to cook night" but certainly recommend for a good quality meal out.

Myself and my daughter went for lunch today. The whole restaurant is pristine clean. The Manager Dale could not do enough for us. The service was quick, polite, efficient and the food was absolutely to die for!! I would say probably the best lunch that I have had in the East Midlands for the last year. I can recommend the Tempura king prawns with batter that just melted in the mouth, the Butternut risotto that my daughter had, was the best we had had anywhere and the haddock and chips were sublime. The puddings were amazing, I had the sticky toffee pudding with white chocolate vanilla ice cream which was definitely homemade, sticky but light on the tongue and really lovely. I loved it so much that I have booked another lunch for my birthday. A fantastic place!

Went on a Tuesday evening to meet a friend. Car park was full which was odd as there was barely anyone inside. Parked just down the side in a lane. Friendly welcome, was seated in the conservatory but I asked to move after about 5 mins as it was freezing cold in there and our table seemed to be in a draft. We went into the old village shop which was much warmer. Decor is beautiful and is very comfortable. Drinks order taken really fast but then waited 20 mins and no one had come to take food order so I went down to the bar to ask if we could place our order. Food took a while to come, about 35 mins which felt too long to be honest. Delicious food, really enjoyed it. After we’d had our plates cleared and confirmed we didn’t want anything else we then waited another while and still no sign of the bill so I went down to the bar again to ask for it. In summary, lovely venue, lovely food, really need to work on the service which just wasn’t on point.

So we had visited this pub one lunch time just after it had opened. All though a little pricey for lunch the service was good the food great and the renovations excellent. So we recommended the place to our friends and all 6 of us booked for dinner. They were busy on the night we went and was given a high table on some dodgy stools right by the bar. As they were busy we decided not to ask to be moved. We waited 29 minutes no menu I had to get them from the bar myself. Another 15 minutes no one came for the order again I went to the bar to order to be told to wait and Someone would be over. Another 5 minutes they came and we placed the order. The food was ok not as good as we had experienced at lunchtime. When we wanted the bill we had to again go to the bar to ask for it. The drinks are really expensive but the place looks good, it had a busy good vibe and probably a great place for a drink but will not be eating here again.

Dropped in for lunch and after getting drinks took menu to table.Waited about 15 mins and no sign of anyone at all coming to take our order, or check on us. Place only about 1/5 full and at the same time we saw staff just standing behind an empty bar doing nothing? After being totally ignored by a member of staff who had just delivered mains to a table near us, decided to give up.When we went to bar to pay for our drinks which had been on a tab, then took all 3 staff to work out how and what we had to pay.Place looks really good but service dismal - plenty of other better places out there to take your money.

There are several different areas you can eat, a conservatory and a more pub type atmosphere inside. Our arrival created no excitement from the two staff visibly on duty. Approaching one of them I was politely told we could sit where we liked. I bought some drinks at the bar and the two of us sat down. We must have waited 10 minutes but no order for food was taken. I eventually went to the bar to order. Another long wait and madams cheese soufle starter arrived. It was very good. Another long wait and the main course arrived. Madam had cod with cauliflower and some other vegetables. The cod was just about passable but the vegetables were not. I had sirloin steak with all the trimmings. this was fine say 8 out of 10.We did not feel like trying the puddings. The whole process had taken two and a half hours.

Having called in for a drink to see the renovations, which are excellent, this was the first time eating here.Good choice of beer and friendly staff makes for a relaxed atmosphere.Food was a bit hit & miss, daughter’s burger was excellent, fish & chips also very good, chicken dishes were ok but the carrot korma, whilst very tasty and well presented, was no more than starter portion size.A little pricier than usual pub food prices, but you can appreciate the presentation and quality of the food. Shame we left still hungry.

Took friends last night after driving past and seeing the renovations taking place. Booked online which went well. Asked for easy access, no disabled bays in the car park so it was pot luck. Wasn’t told there were steps down to the reception either. The waitress Millie was great but was chastised in front of the restaurant for accidentally breaking a glass. The lady in jeans was not nice.Service was attentive and good, slightly disappointed with quality of food and price. The soup of the day was only warm, very salty and had a strange after taste. The lamb came on a bed of vegetables and wasn’t a lot for the price. The veggie risotto was cooked well but tasteless. The steak was well received so saved the day! Sweets were small portions and similar to Brakes ha ha. Not a patch on the Berkeley Arms at Wymondham. Will not be returning as not value for money considering it is only a pub.

Visited this establishment as my son is a big cricket fan and was about to return to uni, so thought we would have a last family meal together. So glad we did. As soon as we walked in the lovely decor and relaxed ambience was very appealing. The place manages to be roomy but intimate at the same time with several different eating and bar areas. Dinner was superb with some tasty and unusual vegetarian options such as sun blushed tomato arancini. The carnivores were similarly happy and my daughter said her duck starter was the best dish she had ever tasted. Service was good and friendly and the manager made sure we were happy without being overly intrusive.Highly recommended. We will definitely return.

Family visit(11 people ages ranging from 86 to 8) to the Tap and Run, Upper Broughton - village between Nottingham and Melton Mowbray - for Saturday Lunch - booked weeks in advance.Food delicious, seating plan bizarre. Three people had their backs to two others, making communication somewhat difficult. Asked if a different seating plan was possible butn told politely by staffmamber that another party of 11 was already seated at the only circular table.Towards the end of the meal a man came to ask if we had enjoyed our experience. He turned out to be the new manager who had only been in post for 4 days. He dealt with the situation brilliantly. Six disgruntled adults left panning the next family visit and the locals amongst us were working out how soon we could return.Long may the chef and the new manager remain! Food and customer care superb!

Just enough spice to know it was there... really satisfying rich food. My wife had the gluten free fish and chips on musgy peas. She really enjoyed it.
