The Dorset in Rushcliffe

Disappointing food & service. We were prepared to overlook that the Roast beef on my DDs dinner was dried out like it had been sat on the side all afternoon. But then all the veg & potatoes on my meal were all but raw. Was offered to wait for more to be cooked but declined as I would have been eating by myself by the time that turned up. Requested a bit of discount instead and was offered £1.50 off. Frankly nothing short of an insult but at least we now know our value as regular customers! Thanks for that.

First visit and would come again. Nice atmosphere and clean. Friendly, helpful staff.

Went with a colleague for dinner following a long day at work, service was great, food was excellent. Would certainly recommend it.

I have no grievance regarding the food, or the service of the very polite waitress (from Ukraine), but at 5pm, when the restaurant was relatively empty, my friend (who uses a zimmer frame for walking purposes) was shown the furthest table (for two) away (from the toilet) for my friend to manoeuvre towards. We asked to be nearer to the facilities, but were denied. My friend who has just the one leg, holds a Dorset Arms loyalty card, felt disappointed by the poor reception. Dorset, you need to show better understanding and thought for those who need it.

I love this place yes the only down side is drinks ate expensive food out this world

The fixed price menu is great value. Tasty and imaginative food, great portion size, nice service. The place was empty for a Friday lunchtime, I can imagine the evenings are busier, but we didn't mind that as it meant we got served promptly. This is our second time here in a month, we will be back!

Well, we have found the ideal place for a weekday night meal. First visit and it was excellent, quiet but it’s early in the new year. Great decor, good early bird menu and fair at £20 for three courses. Service was good, atmosphere great and the cocktail menu very good. We will be booking soon for a Saturday night, hopefully it’s as good.

Went on New Year's Day, a few hangovers around! Had gin & tonic, which was beautifully served. Comfy seats, spotless loos, pleasant staff. Pub is Important to community, back soon !

Thought we'd try this place even though we live on the other side of Nottingham and we're glad we did. The food was really good and the service was excellent. Be careful, the Chicken wigs are HOT!

Absolutely shocking experience. Staff were rude and we refused to pay for the meal as it was such a bad experience. Service was poor, table wasn’t ready for us and then they forgot to tell us when it was ready. We had to ask twice everytime we wanted anything. Staff were very unattentive and none of them seemed to know what they were doing so we spent our time there waiting for someone to serve us / help us. Coke was flat (even after 3 attempts to pour a proper drink by the bar staff), risotto was inedible - too salty and the mash potatoes were lumpy. Drinks order was incomplete so when I asked again for the drinks the waitress came over and slammed a bottle of water down on the table and smirked at me. I was promised that this would be investigated by the assistant manager, I hope it was as she is bad for business. Needless to say, we won’t be returning.

My first encounter with an English pub or restaurant and a tasting of local beers, including local variations of the Czech Staropramen. Nice place with many people. Full marks for me.

Really nice and not a bad price!!

Food is really good here but the options are a bit limited, lovely place to come and sit outside when the weathers good the dining area is really nice with a elegant feel, staff are always friendly and welcoming.

Went for a few drinks and listened to some live music. Great ambience and staff were friendly especially the table monitors were working like Trojans but still have the time to smile and make you feel welcome. The parking was busy but I did manage to find somewhere. Overall a very pleasant experience. Well done.

Pricey (£5.70 for a pint of Heineken. I get that Neck Oil is over £6 pretty much everywhere). Has more of a family restaurant vibe to it than a pub where you'd go to on a Sunday afternoon, or before a game for a few pints with your mates.

More like a restaurant with a pub than an a pub with grub. Fabulous food, great service and love ly surroundings. This was my first time here and I'll be coming back for sure.

We went for an English breakfast and this did not disappoint. Great service, selection and tasty options.

We had the set menu of 3 courses for 20 pounds each. Each course was lovely. It's a really cosy but modern pub. It's one of the nicest pubs I've been to in the area. Totally recommend it.

We attended The Dorset for wedding dinner. The food is good and very excellent.

Love The Dorset , go here regular to meet friends for a drink and often have a meal with family. Very friendly, great service and atmosphere. Love the decor too 😃

Went for a family meal with 11 of us waited too long for meals to come out then one meal hadn't been ordered, when the pub wasn't busy. Ordered a halloumi burger and got halloumi fingers on a brioche bun very disappointing!! Very expensive and over priced shall not be returning!!

10/10 food, especially the sweet potato fries. A little on the expensive side but you get what you pay for!

It's a great place to chat with friends, the environment is comfortable, free drawing paper and color pens are provided for children, and the food is average

Fab food and staff so kind and helpful

Popped in by the off chance as I had an hour and a half to spare early morning and I was not disappointed. I was greeted by a lovely, friendly, smiley waitress who seated me straight away. Coffee was nice and there was no rush for me to move on. I was checked on regularly. Music was great in the background, not too loud and environment lovely. A really nice visit. I'll be returning.

Pricey but worth it. Staff are great. Roast Dinners are the best in Nottingham (apart from My Mums of course)

Nice place, plush seating and good service but £70 for 5 breakfasts…that was too much. The food was good, don’t get me wrong. Looking at the menu it was around £6 for a bacon cob…who’s paying that? £11 for a medium sized full fry up is steep and as others have said, no black pudding. Mushroom was an oil sponge but that’s often something I’ve found to be the case.

1st visit while waiting for a curry being cooked. Nice pint of Guinness and pleasant atmosphere,

Staff were fantastic but the breakfast I ordered was pretty poor for the price they charged 😞

Had a lovely lunch at Dorset arms. I had healthy salad with fish goujons. My husband had skate perfectly cooked .service great. Very cosy decor. Will be back.

Great service but if you're going to charge £11 for a fry-up breakfast, please ensure that black pudding is included. The brown sauce provided is superb but, in the days of environmental awareness, could it not be served in a reusable bottle rather than sachets?

The beer is very pricey. No atmosphere and not that brilliant if you are just going for a drink

It was lovely inside, cute decor throughout, tables spaced far enough apart, music playing at the perfect volume. The food and drinks were all delicious and speedily served! Food was well-presented with good portion sizes and the wait staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. Cannot find anything bad to say will 100% be coming back!

Not for me, felt like a kids creche kids running about and parents chasing after the kids. Beer was off taste like it been in line to long. Sorry but to me it could be do better.

The Dorset is one of our favourite places to eat. We've dined there for breakfasts and evening meals on numerous occasions.

Impromptu visit to The Dorset When we arrived it was extremely busy and we were very lucky to get the last available table considering we hadn’t booked Service was brilliant shown to our seats and given a menu a few moments later our drink order was taken and speedily delivered our food order was then took the food was delivered hot and lovely I had the Sunday Topside Beef which I thoroughly enjoyed couldn’t finish it all good job my husband was there as he finished it for me He had the chicken from the stove with dauphinois potatoes and a creamy Mushroom sauce and green beans he said it was the best meal he had ever had put at a restaurant Please pass our compliments to the chef We could see that the staff were excellent even with the restaurant full the service was immaculate Will definitely visit again Many thanks

I first visited The Dorset a few Sunday's ago when my family came to visit. We were orignially set to go eat at another restuarant nearby but was recommended to try The Dorset instead and can understand why! Food and drink was excellent and without breaking the bank which is always great; despite us eating towards the late afternoon/evening the atmosphere at the restuarant was also really nice. The staff are fantastic, really friendly and are always on hand if you need anything further. Would highly recommend.

Very nice evening with the family, Great beer (neck oil) and really good atmosphere, Burger was well a burger, well cooked and tasty, only thing that let it down was my lady's food somehow got forgotten and came out 15 mins after everyone else's which was a little disappointing but these things happen, will definitely try here again for sure

Very lucky to have such a good pub/restaurant on our doorstep. We visit regularly for drinks and food and it’s always excellent. Shannon and her team work so hard and we are v grateful to them for making our local popular again. On Boxing Day we took our family there and they were full of compliments about the food and service. Cannot fault the place and cannot recommend it highly enough.

Quite expensive for a standard Sunday Roast.

Went for Sunday dinner with the wife & it was absolutely fantastic . Over the years this place has grown in popularity because of the cozy atmosphere & fantastic service offered by Shannon & all of her team . Food and service and staff absolutely spot on .couldn't fault anything. Ate here at Christmas again and just managed to get booked in (January) fully booked up for Christmas already. Says it all. Thanks to all for a lovely day.

family of 10 eating. 5-7 booking. food was terrible. Steak tough fatty unable to eat, halloumi burger was halloumi fries not a patty. And was dry / no flavour. The chicken burger wasn’t a burger was 2 chicken goujons, asked for 2 burgers plain both came with sauce and salad. 1 burger cold. Salad was lacking ingredients on the menu. We chose here for something a bit special, but the food was really poor and nothing special and because of that you don’t want to pay overpriced prices. I wouldn’t go here again and I wouldn’t recommend. Our food Bill was nearly around £300 some had starters - which were nice and puddings. My conclusion is the food is basic, overpriced and the are using starters to be the mains - like halloumi fries becomes an halloumi burger. Real shame as lovely place and the staff were nice. 2 meals were refunded. My advice, go somewhere else !

What a great place, lovely cosy, warm and welcoming from Paul behind the bar. Everywhere spotlessly clean and shown to our table straight the way from a friendly member staff, Jeremy was an excellent host with pefect manners and attended our every needs which made our visit spot on. The food arrived in good time, hot and perfectly presented. I ordeed the chicken from the stove which was cooked to perfection and my fiancee had the steak and ale pie which was very tasty indeed. Definitely will be returning to try out more on the menu and we highly recommend this place.

We popped in for Lunch over the Xmas period,and had the 2 course set menu,both courses were really nice,and good value for money,can't fault the service either👍

Popped in just for a quick bite on Sunday afternoon and wasn't disappointed. Food was amazing, got some sandwiches and drinks. Most amazing fries, nice drinks. Went on a Sunday for the roast. I had the beef it was served pink and it was succulent and tasty the roast potatoes were a little bit small and not very crispy it was all very nice but not a need to go again feeling. Unusually I opted for a dessert my first choice had ran out so went for the cheese cake. All I can say it was odd on the plate was a mouse size biscuit crumbs and on top sat a ball of ice cream and to the side a slice off egg custard without the pastry. All I can say it was odd and not what you would call a cheese cake.

Just called in for a drink at 12pm Sunday, we was going to eat however, it wasn't very warm and there was no atmosphere. Positives, service very good, the restaurant I'm sure when busy will offer a better atmosphere, and it's a lovely place

The quality of the food was excellent and offered really good value

We have been here many times and always enjoy the food and service. We came on a saturday night, unfortunately on this occasion, it was let down by the two young waitresses making us, me especially feel uncomfortable. After ordering our desserts, we found them stood behind us, in clear view (and not being discrete or quiet) mimicking me ordering. They continued to stare, giggle and smirk. They were only a few feet away, and one of the girls even said to the other "shes looking directly at you.". They then both laughed again and hid behind a pillar. This school girl behaviour made us feel very uncomfortable and not at all necessary. The male waitor was however very lovely and couldn't have done any more. The food was also good.

We book in the morning of visit, arrived for 5:45 and attended straight away with drinks, ordered our meal, served within 15 minutes. The meal was excellent and filling, all 3 enjoyed our meal and service, looking forward to the next visit.

I cannot describe how fantastic this place is. The staff are worth there waiting gold so polite and nothing is too much best service by far. The food is absolutely amazing. So tasty and cooked to perfection definitely 10/10 for me

Amazing food and reasonably priced for what feels like an upmarket restaurant. We often go here with work and I've never had a single issue. It's one of my favourite places.

A very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. The pub was very clean and spacious. The staff were very friendly and our order arrived promptly. The food was very tasty and the portion size was good. Considering the area the pub is set in I considered the prices reasonable and would certainly call in again, when I am in the area

Lovely food friendly staff definitely recommend

Been past this place a few times but never been in, so decided to try it. I had chicken pie with mash, the pie was delicious and the mash silky smooth. My wife had fish and chips, the batter was spot on and the chips were home made and very chunky, proper fish an chips in my book. Reasonably priced, considering the area it's in, with great staff

Do like this place. Drink and Food in a relaxed atmosphere with outdoor seating. But make sure the bread on the burger is fresh - last time it was very dry.

The food is amazing but sometimes good food options get taken off the menu which is quite upsetting but the food is delicious and there is lovely staff there.

Had a nice Sunday roast beef dinner. It was quiet when we arrived, the staff who served us were really nice. Food was hot and was plentiful. I now wish that I had not taken the car, as I would have had a few pints as well! Overall, I found it very relaxing with good surroundings with great food.

Very friendly quick service, meal was lovely. The sweet cauliflower small plate is a must try. Having just moved to the area, this will become a local.

Lovely friendly service, Starter and main meal was delicious. Buggy and baby friendly. Even asked if I wanted the music turned down when my little one fell asleep!
