What a lovely welcoming place. A group of friends and I met up last week and the chef and waitress couldn't have been more accommodating. I had phoned the day before to talk about food options due to some dietary restrictions I am having. They couldn't have done anymore for me. When I got there, they had been out and bought some gluten free veggie sausages, gluten free biscuits, as well as skimmed milk for my coffee. The rest of the group were very impressed with their food and teas/coffees. I highly recommend the Dovecote Barn and Café for anyone wanting a nice atmosphere, with good food and wonderful friendly staff.

Wonderful cafe hidden away off the A453 on the way into Nottingham. Had the farmers breakfast which was excellent - superb produce cooked really well. Well worth a visit

Delighted to have discovered Dovecote Barn restaurant & bistro. A warm welcome from Kirsty, delicious homemade tomato and basil soup, with warm fresh bread, followed by spiced apple cake and coffee, perfect on a cold wet afternoon. Loved seeing the animals too! We will definitely be returning!

An amazing place nestled In a wonderful sleepy village surrounded by countryside and farmland. The atmosphere is lovely and relaxing. Full wheelchair access and dog friendly. The food is amazing and the service is excellent. This is one of the few places I will be returning to for food and drink.

Very disappointing breakfast. Ordered the farmers cooked breakfast. Not hot at all, no mushrooms as stated on the menu, fried eggs had black burn bits over the whites, toast was only half toasted, grilled tomato was rock hard. People complaining on next table their order was wrong… very disappointing experience

We love Dovecote from its warm welcome to peaceful location. We have always have lovely food.

We had our absolutely awesome wedding reception there. The food was phenomenal, with all the meat being supplied from there farm shop. It was so delicious and so tasty. All our family and friends are going back, for a breakfast, afternoon tea and cake or a evening meal. Plus now they know there is a farm shop, they will start using it. All the staff were incredibly the whole afternoon and evening flowed, we didn't worry about anything. Our family and friends said it was amazing from start to finish. We couldn't of picked a more lovely stop, the outside spare is brilliant for the children with some games and the animals they loved too. The staff excelled themselves they did such an excellent job, they did everything and much much more. This place is a real gem. We high recommend Dovecote Barn Bisto and Bar. They made my day, I would like to thank each and everyone at Dovecote Barn, your all one amazing team. Thank you so much.

What a fantastic day. Held our wedding reception here on the 31st August 2023 and couldn't have wished for any better. The whole team were outstanding and the service was brilliant. The food was 1st class, the quality and choice was great. The whole place looked amazing. Would highly recommend this place for your functions. Everyone who attended commented on the venue and the food. A group of us then attended for breakfast the next morning, which again was superb. Can't thank everyone at Dovecote, who was involved, enough. Thankyou for making our so special.

This was our first visit. The location is great. We sat outside. The food was good. The service was not so good. It was quite slow and when the service team appeared with an order they didn't seem to know whose it was. There was a sort of apology - by reference to the ordering system having gone wrong. Also, I don't want to see the serving staff Vaping. Not do I want to sit near to customers who smoke. Please consider a complete bar on smoking or allocate specific tables for smokers away from the non smoking customers. Despite the preceding comments we are likely to come back for a, hopefully, better experience.

I attended my mum & step dad’s wedding where here was the reception. The team worked really hard to make this space beautiful and aesthetically pleasing. From the moment we all arrived for this function, we were greeted by a smile on the team’s face and everything prepared in the most wonderful day. The food was to die for! Sandwiches, Burgers, Nibbles, Hot Meats and many more mouth watering food! A massive THANK YOU to Rob & the team for making my mum & step dad’s day the most magical day. All their guests were saying how incredible, friendly, welcoming and wholesome this venue is. All the guests have said they will come back for the delicious food, positive experience and the most fantastic customer service! We all can’t thank you all enough!

This is a gem of a place. We go while we are walking along Clifton Grove. Very friendly and also dog friendly. Willow is often given a sausage on the house, and there are dog treats. The human food is great, too.

First visit here. it's a great place. Had a great breakfast with quality ingredients. Lots of animals about which are great for the kids.

Horrendous from start to finish. Poor, slow, rude staff and the worst cup of coffee I’ve ever had.

Had a whopper of a bacon cob and a proper latte not like greggs any goine to take my good lady out for dinner for a treat I defo won't be disappointed looking at the menu never seen one as nice that bourbon chess cake looks nice but I will let you know how It all went when I have sat down and tasted it all.

We recently visited for breakfast on recommendation. We were not disappointed my husband and I both had the farmer's breakfast and the children had pancakes, it was thoroughly enjoyed by all and we were served quickly by polite staff. The scenery, animals and butchers outside were a bonus. We will be visiting again for lunch for the 'kids eat for £1' throughout August.

Went here for the first time for breakfast after reading good reviews online, however we were left very disappointed and feeling quite ill after being served the farmers breakfast which was almost completely cold. We asked for it to be heated more but even the second time around the bacon and sausages were still only luke warm and very pale with the fat on the bacon being completely uncooked and inedible and the beans on the side congealed with a skin on the top. A couple of hours after eating here we are both feeling quite sick with stomach cramps, so it has ruined the rest of our day. The cafe also had a lot of flies indoors, and while that is more expected in summer, there seemed to be nothing in place to reduce them and it was off putting. The staff while polite when we asked them to reheat the food seemed generally unprofessional and were arguing among one another at the desk. The goats outside and the butchers shop seemed to be the only decent parts. It was a real shame. We would not bother coming here again and would not recommend.

Booked a birthday brunch for 17 people, wonderful experience. Team went above and beyond to make the event special. Excellent food, and lovely outdoor area for us to mill around in rather than rushing home after we'd eaten. Outdoor space, games and animals fantastic for entertaining the children. Overall an excellent experience, highly recommended. We'll be back and recommending to others.

We stopped in on a bike ride on a quiet Saturday morning and ordered a couple of coffees and a slice of the cake. After 35 minutes I asked a waitress and then it was over 5 more minutes before our order came out. Now the coffee was lovely and the cake was genuinely delicious but the excuse of there's been a rush on just didn't cut it - especially as we were sitting outside, as were all of the other customers, so we could see that it wasn't busy (6 other tables!) It was disappointing as I genuinely wanted to give the place a 5star review as I was genuinely impressed. I'm not going to give up though and will try again, hopefully with a shorter wait on my coffee and cake! The outside seating areas are lovely and the little farm has a lot to offer (for free) for families with small children as well as a few outside games for the slightly older kids too! There's a fresh farm shop there as well which my friend said is great but I didn't go for a look.

What a little gem of a discovery after realising one of my favourite places in West Bridgeford only opens for breakfast at 11am. The lovely country atmosphere was worth the 15 min drive to get here & for people who enjoy a big English breakfast, this is it. Eggs Benedict also on offer, amongst others. Coffee real good.

Went for a breakfast with my sister from SA,went to 3 different locations all around Trent Bridge,all closed 9.30am!!!, this place came up 15 mins drive away and was so happy to drive there,a little gem of a place hidden away😎,Great full English Breakfast and great service from really friendly staff,surrounded by Beautifull English countryside,couldn't fault the place really,well worth the ride out there👍

We are here today for the food and drinks festival and so far we are having a fantastic time. The weather is wonderful and it is such a perfect setting for such an occasion. I’ve already made a few purchases from the stalls that are here today, great selection of food and excellent gift ideas. I think we might stay for the duration and we’ll be back!

Fantastic service, great people, delicious food!

Had a lovely breakfast here today, vegan and vegetarian friendly. However, we had our food after a half and hour but still hadn't received our coffees. We asked and were told they had a cup shortage so we agreed to have ours in take away cups. We finished our food and still not coffee. 20 minutes later, plates still on the table and still no coffee. We had to leave as we ran out of time - didn't bother asking for a refund as my husband suspected the wait for that might be ludicrous as well. Good food ruined by terrible service. Most likely won't go again

Went for a family breakfast. Farmers breakfast is huge - really tasty homemade sausage bacon and eggs. Eggs Benedict was tasty and perfectly done. Really good kids menu too. Everything appeared to be of high quality and the price was really good. Staff were really friendly helpful and accommodating- clean nice surroundings too - definitely worth a visit. Will be returning.

Absolutely disgraceful service!!!! Been many times before but sadly.won't bother again. Asked when I walked in if it was waitress service.And it was ! It wasn't busy and few people that were in were eating. It seems having a vape is more important than serving customers 😞 Couple behind me were eventually served and was told I'll be back to take you're order.On a tablet why oh why couldn't my order been taken straight away ? Then someone walked in and placed their order at the till. Just walked out and would rather have starved to death than wait any longer. Perfect example of how service and any level of efficiency and customer service in cafés has declined since covid.. Rocket up the **** sprung to mind.

Unfortunately we had a bad experience for mother's day. Our group of 10 were the first to arrive but last to leave due to poor service. Not once were we asked for a drinks order, instead we took it upon ourselves to go to the bar and fetch our own even though other tables around us were being served. The servers got confused with our orders many times, and couldn't themselves distinguish between the beef and the lamb. The large roasts were basically the same size as the small. The food came out pretty cold. The waitress told us that there was cauliflower cheese on the large roast, but when it came it was a leek dish instead. The meat was dry, tough, chewy and gristly. We were never asked during the meal how everything was. They forgot to put Yorkshire puddings on our plates, so bought them separately after we had already started. We were hoping for the opportunity to ask for mint sauce but never were able to. Absolute shambles to be honest. After eating, our table was forgotten about whilst every other table was being served. We waited 30 minutes before complaining that no one was coming to clear the table, instead we stacked our own plates. There were even more problems with dessert. 5 minutes after ordering, we were told that there was no crumble left so we had to change the order. Then 30 minutes later, we were told there was a miscommunication and there was no brownies left! We finally got dessert 45 minutes after ordering. (Which was 1 hour and 15 minutes after finishing our food). We were given the desserts free (but the deal was free desserts for mums for mother's day anyway), and 10% off the bill. Poor service, cold food, poor quality food, quite expensive, small portions. Shan't come for a Sunday roast again . Disappointed as we have been twice before for lunch and really enjoyed it, so wanted to bring the rest of the family, who unfortunately left very disgruntled.

We absolutely love Dovecote Barn - such a lovely rural location on the edge of Nottingham. We've been multiple times now, including for breakfast, lunch and for tea and cakes. It's great to see that they offer online booking now too. Highly recommended!

Fabulous! What splendid variety from such small rural restaurant. I enjoyed the Chinese New Year there last weekend. Beautiful wontons and spring rolls! Tasted as good as ones from a chinese restaurant. Will definitely revisit! The new A La Carte menu looks delicious and the reviews of Steak Night have given me FOMO! Whole-heartedly recommended :)

Very poor service today. We were a group of 6 cyclists, when we entered we were told to sit down and someone would come to take our order. After 15 mins we asked and was told someone was coming...they did after a further 10 mins! Then long wait for the food, with them also coming to recheck what was ordered. Coffees didn't arrive until AFTER we had finished our food, which was fine. No apologies or explanation given for the delays. We'll think twice before visiting again.

Four stars all the way, no issues at all just a good place to enjoy a meal. It's not highbrow or lowbrow, just turn up and enjoy. I had beef and ale pie that came with chips and greens. I'm not a fan of separate dishes delivered on a plate but that's how it came, chips in a mini fry cage, pie in an enameled dish, some will love it like this. The pie was very good and made on site with quality beef. All cooked very well. Reasonable prices too. Walkers, and with dogs are welcome, a farmer with his well behaved gun dog enjoying a relaxing time. So are cyclists welcomed, no need to turn up over dressed very casual. I recommend this barn for a meal. Why not plan a visit with a walk along the Trent valley from Clifton or Clifton Bridge towards Barton in Fabis have a good meal and drink, maybe call at Thrumpton as well? A bus service also Runs most days or ride your cycle here. Staff are friendly especially the chef who takes the time to chat and check if you are happy. Garden tables outside for warmer days also. Overall good and not expensive. I understand in January 2023 being refurbished so check before your visit.

What a delighful restaurant! It feels modern yet traditional (I know that's a contradiction but it's the best I could think of!). We visited in the evening, it was warm and welcoming. The service was friendly and attentive, and food was out of this world!...

Friendly accommodating staff and lovely food

Visited Dovecote Barn with my 2 friends as it happened to be at the midpoint for all of us to travel to. We stayed there for several hours, had multiple rounds of tea, cake, plus some lunch. It was lovely.

due to people booking the inside tables ( this shouldn't happen in such a small place)had to sit outside,not a problem. when our meal came out certain items were cold before they reached us speaking to the waitress she apologised and took the items away to replace them and she never came back so we left.

The service was first class both at front of house and from the kitchen. Steak cooked to perfection and the atmosphere was great too. Enjoyed it so much that we visited again the next 2 nights and wasn't disappointed. Thank you. Dave and Juliette.

Nice breakfast at Dovecote Barn today. We had a walk down from Barton Green. I had a veggie breakfast and was quite surprised how nice the veggie sausages were as I don't usually like 'fake' sausage... I have given 4 star as I felt the presentation just needed a little more finesse but all in all a very pleasant trip out. 👍👍

A nice place to take children to see the animals outside. The farm shop has good selection of meat plus other local goods. The cafe has warm and welcoming feel. We when as a family to pick a pumpkin today got a little wet, but still, enjoyed the experience.

Lovely steaks, straight from the butchers next door… and even better staff who really go the extra mile to accommodate requests! Can’t wait to see what the Sunday roasts are about!

Lovely place great food good sized portion fab service

A big thankyou to the Team at Dovecote farm shop and Bistro. The Bond Bug Club (1970's orange three wheel cars). Were invited to hold their annual agm meeting for the second time on the farm. We camped in the Alpaca field at the entrance to the farm and enjoyed a fantastic bbq feast from the farm shop on the Friday night, with drinks in the very sociable and welcoming Bistro. Saturday and Sunday breakfasts were also catered for in the Bistro. Our agm meeting was held in the dinning room followed by 27 Sunday Roast dinners. Thank you all again for being fantastic host's The Bug Club. Club Rally secretary Andy Cox.

We would like to thank Harvey rob and all the staff who looked after us when we descended on them for the weekend with the bond bug club .we had a fantastic time brilliant bbq with meat from the farm shop. Sunday lunch for 28 people use of the mini bus to transport us to thrumpton for the beer festival and also to the birthday boy who's party we all gatecrashed at the village hall on Saturday evening what a brilliant village and people thankyou so much we will be back again xxxxx
