The worst food on the island and horrible rude staff. Made me very uncomfortable. I couldn't finish my meal it was so awful and it also made me quite ill the next day. Avoid at all costs!!!

What a culinary experience we had!! Every mouthful was busting with flavour, colour and texture. Euan and Lindsay were the most amazing hosts. We have visited before and we’re wowed by the experience and we loved watching and listening to our friends saying it was the best. Well done and thank you once again.

We bought 2 prepared meals here. The portions were generous and the food excellent. So unexpected on this small island!

I wanted to treat my friends for a special meal. (Tresco is very dark at night, and walking rather dangerous when you can't see the path!) We were not disappointed. The meal kept for several days in the fridge, well packed in an insulated box. Arrived on boat with post and delivered to our house. Street food starter, rice, naan, dhal,2 mains. Excellent portions. Full instructions supplied. Quality of food first class, variety and choice superb. We did not visit the restaurant but ordered a takeaway for Tresco. A magical idea!!

This review is principally about the Kerbside Delivery Service which has been consistently excellant in all respects. Will be using this service again on our visits next year as well as purchasing some of Euan's other offerings.

Extremely good service. Delicious food. Beware of island internet service from your accommodation so you can be contacted just before delivery. We couldn’t get booked at local restaurants so we used the services of Tanglewood Kitchens and were not disappointed. Thank you

Excellent curry’s - chicken makhani x 2 chicken Chettinad and lamb sag, with dal and street food. Could have fed more with the very generous portions! Very tasty, just perfectly spiced and flavoured. Definitely worth the extra. Easy preparation from frozen - timing all the various items. Definitely recommend to all and will buy again no hesitation! Great friendly delivery service. See you next time we visit.

Euan delivers beautifully balanced, first rate suppers. It is true that he delivers by car, but the food is as beautifully presented, piping hot and as delicious as if you were dining in a restaurant. His menus are interesting, combining fresh ingredients and seasoned to perfection. The best supper we had on the island. We cannot recommend him highly enough. We just wish he delivers to Birmingham!

If you wish to eat gourmet food, prepared with the finest fresh, locally sourced ingredients, look no further. Euan offers a doorstep delivery of the most delicious dishes. The portions are generous and the menus carefully balanced. We chose the best fillet beef we have eaten in ages, the vegetables were cooked perfectly and everything was perfectly seasoned. Very highly recommended.

We bought frozen pastries from here. They were fab. The vegan blueberry croissant was delicious I am not vegan but would highly recommend.

4 of us ordered delivered food twice during our week in a cottage nearby. Lobster was delicious as was the fish pie. Th desserts too were fantastic and all extremely fairly priced. Our food was delivered by hand just when we needed it by friendly Tanglewood kitchen people.

Picked up our two pre ordered crab sandwiches this morning they are still the best in the isles of Scilly. Full of jucy crab just enough Marie rose sauce and a wedge of lemon

We enjoyed a superb meal at this very special restaurant. With intimate surroundings, personal service and beautifully prepared food, accompanied by a faultless choice of wines, we had a very merry (and memorable) evening. Thank you to our fabulous hosts. I had the John Dory on a bed of lentils followed by Sea Bass with crab cake and scallop.

couldn't book for the full kitchen experience but we did order a take away ,which was delivered directly to our ,B & B so nice best fish pie ever and the lamb tagine was amazing too. fully booked until November, must be good eh????

We are on the Scillies, enjoying a great holiday. We are in self catering accommodation but why bother to cook when you can buy restaurant-quality, home -made and award-winning ready meals? We bought a selection of home made main courses, vegetable dishes and desserts. We are having an absolute feast every night.

Our usual visit to St Mary's was complicated this year by my wrist being in plaster. Our self catering property is 15 minutes walk away from Hugh Town and it is not possible to buy food to be delivered from the Co-op on a weekend.The owners of our property recommend Tanglewood, so I ordered 3 x 2 course meals (and side veggies) in advance of our arrival on St Mary's this year. The food was delivered within an hour of our arrival at our property. We were so pleased with the quality of the food, that we ordered more meals for part of our second week.

This is the best meal on St Mary's. We have tried most other restaurants on Scilly and none come as good as this. The food is exceptional. You will not find a better crab cake! Wine list is equally as good. Book way in advance to avoid disappointment!

Four of us were lucky enough to get a booking for dinner a couple of nights ago....and had a great time.

5 of us went to The Tanglewood Kitchen for a meal. I had read the reviews on Tripadvisor and booked our places months ahead so had high expectations. The meal was served in the room behind the Post Office at a large table which had been beautifully set with candles and lights. We shared the table with two other diners. The 3 course meal was exceptional and the company was wonderful. It was really nice to sit and watch our meal being prepared whilst chatting to some really nice people. We would definitely recommend you to try it if you are visiting St Mary’s but you need to book early!

Went for a friend's birthday, small intimate atmosphere that turned out to be absolutely perfect. The crab souffle was extraordinary and perfect (as was everyone else's) Venison main succulent, juicy and beautiful and as for the whisky bread and butter pudding it was just a delicious finale to a fantastic night out. You will not be disappointed.

Fantastic evening, wonderful food and excellent service. Because the table only sat the 8 of us it felt we were well looked after and could be as noisy as we liked!

I'm a romantic meal for two type, but glad we tried this. Sitting at a table for four which doubles as a display in the middle of the post office during the day, we shared a great meal with three other couples who we'd never met before and had a great evening in every way. Superb food and excellent wine and if you check out Larry Lamb and his son's bicycle ride around the Scillies on catch-up TV you can see and get a feel for it for yourself, as they too gave it a try. If you don't fancy socialising with strangers then you can still enjoy the great food on offer there as they also do a takeaway service, which when we tried it we found it to be of the same very high quality, but it's not expensive.

Managed to get a booking for here following seeing it on tele. Out of fortnight we were staying was only one night free. We were not disappointed. One table in room behind Post Office was a daunting thought but nothing of the sort. Had booked for 4 so met 4 complete strangers- no worries as they were lovely food was to die for. 3 had crab cakes to start and 1 had lamb. Main course- again 3 had John Dory and 1 had sure n turf. All was absolutely delicious. One thing to note it is fully booked until Nov 18 and already fully booked in Aug 19. Only does 3 nights a week. If poss definitely get a booking. Will not be disappointed

Very high standard of take away food, delivered to your accommodation, wide menu, consistent. This is the third year we have preordered for the first night of our stay on St Mary's and again Tanglewood didn't disappoint.

It’s extremely difficult to find something to compare Tanglewood to as it is an incredible one off place to eat with absolutely nothing that comes close to this bespoke dining experience! I don’t want to spoil the surprise but if you have the chance to dine here you will definitely not be disappointed. There is only one sitting of up to 8 people per and only one sitting per evening on a few evenings a week, so advance booking is an absolute must! The food is cooked right in front of you in my opinion to such a high standard that you assume there is some sort of magician at work! The food is like nothing I have experienced previously outrageously tasty and plentiful , the service although simple can not be faulted in any way whatsoever! The starter I had which was a trio of seafood was hands down one of the best dishes I have ever tasted! I would unreservedly recommend this place to anyone who likes great food cooked brilliantly! Many thanks for a wonderful evening, we will be back.

We fell in love with the crab, and in my case, the prawn and chilli sandwiches when we last visited the Scillies, so knew exactly where to order our lunches (a day in advance).

The other reviewer who commented about the difficulties with orders is spot on. The website doesn't allow you to order certain of the vegetarian options, and there is no option to contact by e mail. By the time I did manage to get through on the phone (with pressures of the pre-holiday week at work, not until the day before we travelled to Scilly) he was not taking orders for the next day, and indeed he was closed when we arrived on the Scillonian. You need to order 3 days to a week before it seems. He was very laid back about the problem with the website and to an extent I think this is because they have a captive market here on Scilly. Anyway logistical problems aside, a local relative successfully ordered some dishes later in the week so we had a family gettogether without the hassle of cooking. Lamb hot pot good very generous portion, fish pie good too - certainly an excellent option for a decent meal in without cooking for hours but do NOT forget to order well in advance!

Fantastic sandwhich lunch made to order followed by yummy take out evening meal.

This restaurant is great for small groups, the owners are very attentive and really make you feel relaxed and welcome.

The seafood here is absolutely divine. We ordered crab cakes and lobster as much as possible during our recent stay. It's fresh, cooked to perfection and delivered to your door. What more could you want. Roll on next year.

If you don’t want to eat out but don’t want to cook try the Tanglewood kitchen. Lovely choice of dishes to order, good sized portions. We used them twice over the holiday as the World Cup was on ! We can recommend the fish pie which we ordered with cabbage with pancetta and another night the beef in Guinness with Rosemary dumplings and had the cabbage again.. both were really tasty. Puddings we had pear tart tartin and apple tart tartin both perfect to finish the meal.. ( we had bought some clotted cream to have with them ). We ordered a couple of days before, just popping in the post office where they are located at the rear.. and they were delivered on the day between 17:30 and 18:30 so not interrupting our day.

Coming onto Scillies we thought we would order some food from Tanglewood Kichen, so I phoned them a week in advance, spoke to the owner, who said he had a shop full so could I send him an e mail with the order, which we did, but nothing appeared on the evening. Very disappointing

First visit to Tanglewood & certainly not the last. We shared a square table in the sorting office with five people we had never met before, which might be a bit daunting. Luckily we enjoyed the company of a couple from Dorset & their lovely daughter from London, together with a couple from Lancs. Conversation flowed as did the wine. The food prepared in front of you by Lindsay & Euan is excellent, with a starter of scallops followed by mains of seabass fillets & surf & turf was delicious. Fine dining with a personal touch-awesome!

We recently visited St Mary's and on recommendation decided to order a meal from The Tanglewood Kitchen. The food was excellent. We had fish pie one night and crab cakes another. The quality was excellent and very good value. The owner was professional and pleasant to deal with. We look forward to re-visiting when next in St Mary's and highly recommend you try it.

We used Tanglewood three times on our last visit. You order from their menu a day or two beforehand and the food is delivered to your door around 6.00 in the evening. All you need to do is bung it in the oven for the specified time. The fish pie was super as was the hotpot.

7 of us came for a superb dinner, the best crab cakes any of us have ever tasted, excellent fresh John Dory , perfect roast fillet of beef, and puddings to die for. Euan and Lindsey looked after our party so well, lovely to chat with them about life on the Islands. It was such a memorable evening, we would love to return soon!

A wide selection of pre-cooked meals which are, at least, of comparable quality to those produced by COOK. In addition, they are delivered direct to where one is staying

Excellent food with a lovely intimate atmosphere for a group of up to 8. Exactly the right level of attention and invisibility from the chef/host. Lots of homemade extras. Best value on the islands.

Very pleased to be able to visit Tanglewood again with friends. The whole ambience, food & wine is superb & we cannot recommend it highly enough. We will be returning again very soon !

The first thing we did on getting to the islands in December was to book a table for dinner here for our wedding anniversary on 2nd February (didn't mention this fact to Euan). Initially the restaurant was not open that night but Euan agreed to open up and we joined six other people on the night. We have dined here several times, the last being about 10 months ago and the food and ambiance is as good as ever. We look forward to eating here again. From our experience this is the best place to eat on St Marys.

Without doubt the best food on the islands, the meal and all the extra homemade nibbles are fantastic as too the service ..we had been looking forward to go by here for weeks and it didn't let us down thanks Lindsay and euan we had a great night

Firstly this restaurant is in the rear of the post office and only seats eight persons. We did not eat there as he only opens a couple of nights per week and he was of course fully booked up. On our next IOS visit we will be booking this place before we book our flights. What we did do was get some of the delicious freshly prepared take away food for our evening meal. Home made fish cakes and the like. Also we ordered freshly made crab sandwiches for our take away lunch during the day. I would really love to visit this place on an evening as I think not only the food will be stunning but the company of the host and the whole setting in what was once the old sorting office will make it a very special evening indeed. This place is a real gem!

From the moment you walk in to Tanglewood your senses are filled with the mood lighting the delicious smells of cooking and the cozy seating for 8. Having your own private dinner party with the Hosts Ewen and Lindsay preparing your meal is exquisite.

What a great experience. The best two meals we had all week. An excellant service delivered to your door when they say they will. We would return to Scilly just. To eat Tanglewood. Very Very impressed. WELL DONE TANGLEWOOD😀😀😀😀😀

The food was excellent, especially the lamb tagine. We also had roasted veg not sure if that was good value for money?

We had the Lamb Hotpot, delivered to our accommodation. The food was far too salty, so much so that we could not eat it and had to bin it.

We decided to go to watch the outdoor Shakespeare play again this year and picnics and wine are the order of the day. We have walked past Tanglewood many times and decided to see if we could find some food for our picnic. The owner was really helpful suggesting many tasty sounding options for one vegetarian and one meat eater. We settled on two quiches/tarts freshly made for the day we needed them, salad and a sandwich. When we collected our picnic for the next day it was beautifully presented with napkins and knives and forks. The food was all really tasty, beautiful pastry and one of the nicest veggi tarts I have ever had. My partner really enjoyed his crab one too. Shakespeare play or not we'll be ordering a picnic again. Well done Tanglewood!

took my wife here for our 30 wedding anniversary breakfast euan the owner was absolutely fantastic he really made it a special occasion the food was fresh and very tasted fantastic this is restaurant is a hidden gem cannot praise it enough

I had the sticky lamb shank with cabbage and pancetta which was delicious. Others had the vegetarian lasagne and lamb tegine. All excellent

Third time we have had food from Tanglewood. Each time we have been delighted. On this occasion all 12 of us enjoyed our various meals.

Have just had a truly enjoyable dinner here last Friday 23rd June, with delicious and imaginative food well presented with the emphasis on local fresh ingredients. I highly recommend this very unusual setting of a what is a mini-restaurant on demand for maximum 8 guests 2 or 3 times a week in the Tanglewood gastronomic food shop and kitchen at the back of St. Mary’s Post Office so much so that I shall most certainly go there again on my next visit to the Isles of Scilly.

Have been meaning to try this place for 4 years and finally have. Terrific food at a good price, a great alternative to great dining without the expense or having to cook it yourself. Order one day ahead to avoid disappointment.

On our annual trip away with two friends my wife and I visited Tanglewood on our last night on St Mary's and I have to say we left the best to last. Euan and Lindsay gave us an evening to remember with their super dining experience. All three courses were equally delicious along with hand made breads and chocolates. A special mention for the Scallops and Saffron potatoes which were superb as was the Date and Rum bread and butter pudding; using croissants as the bread was a touch of genius.

We happened upon this on arrival on St. Mary's & what a find it was! We joined a table of fellow diners for a 3 course meal with unexpected extras. The food was amazing - from scallops to sea bass to beef Wellington to panacotta - not to mention the nibbles of crab cake & homemade breads to start. Service was excellent. Best restaurant food we've had for a while. Lovely evening, would definitely recommend it!

We have been coming to the Isles for 13 years and are always looking for a super meal. This year we have found one. If you travel to Scilly make sure You dine here at least once, because you will want to go again. We will be back next year and will definitely dine here again . Good value, good quality when compared to restaurants and pubs. The food is delivered to your door. You just have to heat it up, and add vegetables, unless you have included those in your order.

This is a luxurious food and catering shop behind the post office in St Mary's . Dinners are available for up to 8!people but only by prior arrangement. There is a wide choice of quiches, sandwiches and baked goods to take away and a selection of wines (including St Martins winery, French and Italian). The crab sandwiches are packed with crab and local greens --highly recommended.

Wouldn't normally review a takeaway but this place does the best crab sandwiches on the island - no two ways about it! What more can I say?

We stayed in a self-catering apartment and used the ready meals service four times. The choice, the quality of the food and the service were all excellent. We would recommend Tanglewood ready meals as a great alternative to cooking or eating out.

We spent a wonderful evening here on a rainy and windy night in late February. It was a treat. Eating at the post office was quirky and memorably different. Sitting with strangers at a display case for a table, plates resting on stamped and dated envelopes in the sleek steel kitchen behind the old post office played with my head but the food certainly tickled my tastebuds and melted my heart. The post mistress ( she is too young for that term) and husband cooked up a storm all evening. It was simply great!

Excellent food where the two chef/patrons prepare all the food, serve it, pour the wine and clear the only table (which seats a maximum of eight people). We enjoyed scallops on black pudding, hake with samphire, beef and lemon tarts to finish. All accompanied by a very pleasant Sicilian red. You do need to book and make your menu selections the day before as a rule.

Had a wonderful family birthday celebration meal at Tanglewood. There were eight of us and it is just like having your own private dinner party but without the stress!! The Post Office is done out beautifully and you are very well looked after. The courses had been chosen in advance and the food was sublime with superb attention to detail. The extra touches like the pre-dinner appetisers, home-made breads and petit-fours & truffles all added to the dining experience. There was no rushing and it made for a very relaxed evening. Highly recommended!

This restaurant is in the old sorting room at the back of the Post Office. There is seating for a maximum of eight around one table and the meal is prepared and served within sight of the diners. The table is surrounded by racks of wine and food produce that is available for purchase during the day. You can also order food to take away.

Dined here recently with group of six. The ambience was quirky, the food excellent, the service attentive and we felt it was good value for money. We will return :-) Thanks for a special evening !

Lovely choices, delivered to the door and only need reheating. We have had this service several times and not had a single complaint.

During our holiday we would love to pop into Tanglewood in the mornings to order Crab sandwiches or Crab Cakes for pick up when our boat trips returned from the other islands later in the day and just loved them.We loved them that much and the prices were very keen too at £6 a time.Very good value and oh so tasty.

I've dined at most of the eateries on Scilly. There's a wide range of places, some better than others, but an evening spent at Tanglewoods Table is really nice. Different and quirky perhaps, but a great experience!

They have recently launched Tanglewood Table, an evening meal for no more than 8 people (you share the only table with others and eat in the kitchen environment, having chosen your three courses (a choice of two only for each course) in advance). The food was superb, cooked whilst we watched, and of the highest quality. If you are in St Marys you should try it!
