Food was nice, interesting house specials along with the usual items you’d expect on the menu.Atmosphere was a bit flat, but probably because it wasn’t that busy. Staff were attentive … although being asked 3 times if your food is ok is a bit much. I found the owner (or head waiter), although a nice person, a bit over familiar and trying too hard to be funny.

I ordered onion bhaji...was full of green stuff spinich i think...not nice...then chicken biryani..the chicken and rice was ok...the veg curry was horrible...watery and had raisins in it and absolutely no taste of curry..would i go here again... defo not

As a family we have eaten at this restaurant many times over the years. The food is always delicious and the service excellent. You couldn't ask for better service anywhere. We can highly recommend this restaurant.

Well, what can I say about the Taj of Kent? It's amazing!The food is delicious and the staff are so friendly and attentive. Nothing is ever too much for them.There's 2 Indian restaurants in Marden and the Taj is by far the best of them.I've actually moved away from Marden now and there's 3 Indian restaurants closer to me but I still travel 9 miles each way to eat at the Taj.A great place for all the family!

Fantastic. Best Indian around. We went Sunday night a family of 8 for a anniversary meal. Greeted by Ali the owner who is friendly, funny really makes you feel welcome.Restaurant is very clean and at the mo ent with Covid 19 it’s very organised and must say we felt very safe indeed.We all had the special menu which was £12.95 Which included a starter, any main including king prawns from the menu, a side dish, rice or naan. A carafe of wine a beer. Tea and coffee. I believe they do this menu Sundays and Tuesdays. I highly recommend if you are in the area give it a try it won’t disappoint

Been here a few times with family and/or friends. Seems to cater for large parties/celebrations/birthdays etc and very welcoming of children of all ages. Great little waiting area if you order takeaway, perfect to have a drink while you wait ; )Might be worth ringing and booking on their ‘special’ cheap days I think Sundays and Tuesdays as always seems to be packed on these days.

Amazing, the last few weeks I’ve treated myself to a curry from here when I’ve been working late. It’s been fantastic. Everything has been really really nice. Couldn’t fault it at all. The food was great, and even in the morning I was ok.

Visit to the lical curry house is always a pleasure with welcoming staff and comfortable suroundings and to cap it all great food. Everyone has their favourite and mine is deffinitely the mixed thali. Very friendly staff and well worth a visit.

I visited as a treat for my family and the staff were so attentive and knowledgable of their menus it was a pleasure to eat there. The food was delicious and in a very timely manner.Great value with weekly special offers.Reccomend it for any occasion can not wait to go back.

I love the food at this restaurant, you can really taste all the lovely fresh spices in the dishes. And the service and friendly welcome that awaits is second to none. Nothing is too much trouble for Abruse and his team...I’ll go back again very soon!

A great find whilst we were staying at a nearby campsite. Very friendly staff and the restaurant wasn't too busy. We weren't made to feel rushed. The food was delicious! Good prices too. Would definitely return if we're in the area.

We went to the restaurant on a Tuesday night to celebrate our daughters 10th birthday, apart from the Tuesday night deal being absolutely amazing value, our night was made even more special by the staff. They bought out a beautiful cake with us only telling them it was her birthday when we arrived.The food was great and we had a brilliant time. Thank you so much

I have been coming to this restaurant for many years and never thought to leave a review. However, several years ago I spoke to Ali and asked to reserve a table for my Dad’s birthday which was on a Sunday. We arrived at 2 o’clock but noticed the car park was empty which was strange. When we entered the restaurant the staff were dressed casual. We then realised that we were the only ones present. Then I discovered that in them days they didn’t open on a Sunday. Ali had opened up especially for this occasion. He even bought a birthday cake and put it on a trolley so my two young daughters could wheel it in. Outstanding service. I work in London and eat in many Indian restaurants but in my opinion none come close to the service and food.Regards Nicky

We had been fishing in the area and was looking for somewhere local to eat on the way home.Thankfully they were able to squeeze 7 of us for the Sunday Banquet on Fathers day.Food was absolutley amazing, and such great value, the waiting staff were really friendly and welcoming.

Came here for a date night with the hubby and all I can say is wow... excellent food and service. Warm and cosy and was very welcoming.. staff friendly and lovely to talk to...Will definitely be using raj of Kent everytime

I was new in town so didn't know where to eat but was told of this Indian restaurant. I had their King Prawn Balti with cucumber raita & nan bread. Very tasty!

We are new to this area and have been trying all the nearby Indian restaurants as we are great fans of the cuisine. We have visited this restaurant twice now and have been very impressed with all the dishes we have tried, all packed with flavour and served by very friendly and helpful staff and all at very reasonable prices. I’ve had several takeaways from the Taj of Kent and have now also visited the restaurant a few times with family and even on my own. Ali and the other staff are so welcoming, helpful and efficient. Even if it is busy, they always take care of you and encourage you to take your time and enjoy yourself.

We have now eaten in and had about 4 take always. Brilliant every time. The owner is hilarious great personality. Would really recceomend it Steve

We were staying nearby with relatives and decided to get a carry out on our last night for 6 of us. We all had different dishes- biryani, lamb tandoori tikka, chicken balti, Madras. They were all delicious as were the extras such as bajis and samosas and there was lovely starter we have never had before which was meat with an omelette on top. Delish. Wish we had a Taj like you near us in Glasgow.

I cannot believe how good this was for the money. The staff went out of their way to be accommodating and the food was simply the best that I have tasted service a dream prices unbelievable not much more than a take away. A friend recommended this restaurant to me so I went to give it a try amazing amazing amazing. They have lots to choose from the only very slight negative their drinks menu could be better but overall fantastic

Cannot thank the owners and staff enough for putting on a fantastic meal to celebrate my son's 18th birthday. 40 guests loved the food, and as ever the service was excellent. Highly recommend.

MY partner and I visited this "resteraunt" on our date night, it was completely empty, not one other customer, now we know why. After ordering our meal our poppadoms the sauces that come with were awful. The yoghurt dip was off, sour and old. The starters had no flavour and was not what we ordered, although after waiting 45 minutes we were so hungry we ate them regardless. Then came the worst part. The mains. Both Currys had no depth of flavour, no real taste. Mine also had a massive slice of lemon left in disguised in sauce which I accidentally bite into. The naan bread was also so under cooked, raw dough is not nice, i could roll it back into dough. After enduring this disgusting food, i complained to the "Owner". His response is as follows.

The food was good and the staff were lovely and polite however being quite busy it was quite cramped sitting in the restaurant maybe that was due to the night we were out (it being Friday). I think it is a good Indian restaurant if your searching for a traditional Indian type setting. 1 of 2 excellent Indians in the village of Marden.

We love this place. It's in our village and the staff are always so friendly. The food is delicious and it's a great place to wind down on a Friday night. It's generally quite busy so there's usually a happy convivial atmosphere.

We attended here for a Pre party weekend with our very good friends and whilst the food was good, the best part was the wonderful dry humour of the staff. A little gem in the heart of Kent!

Booked up here recently after having a nice takeaway thought it would be nice to eat in. Went with friends it was a Tuesday special night very good value for money can even have king prawn dishes on the special night as a main, any starter all for the price. Food was very tasty staff were friendly couldn't fault it.

In Unserem UK Urlaub haben wir uns mindestens 2-3 Besuche beim Inder vorgenommen. The Taj of Kent war der erste. Sehr freundliches, amüsantes und dienstleistungsorientiertes Personal. Der Eigentümer hat uns sehr gut unterhalten. Das Essen, wir hatten eine Empfehlung und Mix von verschiedenen Gerichten war alles besten und sehr geschmackvoll. Bei unserem nächsten Besuch in der Ecke kommen wir sehr gerne wieder.

Accueil très attentionné, et très bon service. C'était varié et très bon et pourtant nous n'avons pas pu finir tout ce qu'il y avait sur la table ! Repas très copieux mais on peut emmener les restes si on veux !

Fuimos sábado noche espontáneamente, no me decepcionó un gran personal comida estupenda! Las porciones eran abundantes, e incluso tomó algunas casa, así que vale la pena una visita si su local.

A large group of us staying nearby enjoyed a takeaway from here. The collective order was massive but no mistakes were made which was a pleasant surprise. Good solid indian takeaway food. 10% off if you paid by cash which was quite a saving.

Popped in for a curry, place looks tired from the outside but is ok inside. Lovely greeting by manager, couple of young ladies v hard Eastern European types but nonetheless ok, unusual to not have Indians worked in an Indian given their culture, nevertheless the food was prompt, small portions and of average quality. Tikka superb !

The Taj is my partner & I's favourite Indian restaurant/takeaway, we dine here on a semi regular basis and often bring our friends and family who have all thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The food is great quality, my partner & I are both vegan and there are plenty of options to suit our dietary requirements, our friends and family who have eaten the meat dishes have always said they were delicious, the staff are great also, very polite.

The owner is the selling point of this restaurant. He is hilarious and utterly charming. Dubious about the quality of wine and the fresh opening of bottles so I would stick to beer.

Absolutely fantastic food! The Dahl was the best I've ever had. Fabulous sizzling prawns, delicious side dishes, lovely naan breads and samosas were excellent. Great buzzy vibe in the restaurant and service was impeccable. I need to go here more often

Great food - the specials are varied and v tasty. Balloons and a cake from the Taj, an all round top meal. Nothing too much trouble.

I recently moved near to this restaurant and tried it for the first time on a Saturday night. The service was excellent- serving staff were humorous, charming, and efficient. The food was excellent- my prawn sizzler was delicious. My friend had a jalfrezi, and declared it the best curry he's had in a decade. The house wine was decent too. The restaurant was pretty quiet for a Saturday night, which seemed like a real shame, but I've seen it busier, and I'll definitely be coming back!

We visited the Taj of Kent for the first time last night (1st April 2017) the welcome was so friendly the staff couldn't do enough for us we felt right at home! All of the food was extremely good. I had something I hadn't tried before 'Chicken Pack Masala' this was sublime the nicest Indian dish I have ever tasted.The restaurant is elegant and had a relaxing atmosphere the owner Delward Hussaine is to be commended!

The Taj has become our favourite Indian in the area. Very good service and superb food. Always good to wait with a Cobra!

Placed an order for collection and when we got it home we realised we had ordered the wrong thing by mistake so took it back and the staff rectified this as fast as possible. The food was far better than any other restaurant we have visited. Can't wait for our next visit to The Taj of Kent. Now won't use any other! 10/10!!!

I regularly come to the Taj Of Kent and have done for a number of years. I have never been able to fault the staff and the manner in which they attend to customers and the respect myself and other customers receive. As well as the staff, the food is flawless and freshly sourced. I would highly recommend visiting the Taj for events also, as they can cater to various needs and requirements for all ranges of customer.

We were a group of nine celebrating a 7th birthday. The food was great, the service was second to none with baloons and cake provided all in all a great night at a good price

This is one of my Favourite places fora curry night. We often eat here when we have friends visit and we have never had a bad experience. The staff are attentive and helpful and the food is of a very good standard and a reasonable price. The surroundings are pleasant and comtable.

This is a regularly visited Indian Restaurant for myself and two friends. The service is always excellent and the food superb. Never had other than a very enjoyable evening here. Would certainly recommend.

Visited this restaurant last night. Our table was booked for 6pm (opening time) although we had a drink a poppadoms quickly we had to wait over 40 minutes for ourselves. What should have been a relaxing meal turned into a rush as we had a prior engagement at 7.30.

Have eaten here a number of times now and have found the food and service great every time. The staff are welcoming and engaging. We had our son with us and our waiter paid him lots of attention and kept him occupied solving puzzles Every time we have eaten here the food has been great and the wine! Would definitely recommend.

We have been going to the Taj of Kent for many years and taken a lot of friends there and we have always had delicious food at a very reasonable price. On Tuesday evening you can have a starter, main course, a Nan bread or rice and a side dish for £10.00 for everything, drinks are extra. The staff are always welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. If you like good Indian food I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

On a Tuesday evening the Taj has currently got an offer on. The restaurant was quite busy on the Tuesday we visited. One of our group is gluten free and rang ahead to see if they had a gluten free menu, unfortunately whom ever answered the phone just said, 'we do not deal with that,' and put the phone down!The staff do have a funny sense of humour and when asked about it said that they do have gluten free food, but this was too late and no apology was given for someone's rudeness over the phone! It took a long time for our main meal to arrive but they were busy. In general the food is fine and the staff are happy

I went here last night for my joint birthday party with my twin sister. We had confirmed the day before that we would be a party of 26 as Tuesday is there £10 per head menu day ! We arrived and 6 of our friends couldn't make the dinner at the last minute. We were seated and eventually drink orders were taken with comments like "house wine is the wine left open from last night !" We ordered our food and the starts came quite quickly thou by this point it was already 9pm and we had the table booked for 7:30pm. Mains arrived from 9:30pm onwards some lukewarm others quite cold. We were all so hungry we just ate. Then it came to paying for the bill. On the website it states £10 per head as we had 6 people cancel with us we didn't expect to pay for them, well I can tell you we did. The restaurant were like we had to turn business away (thou they used a spare table of 4 that were weren't using to sit a couple down !??) So in the end we had to pay and extra £50 on top of what the bill came to. No where is this stated on the website or in the menu. I would like to warn people of this so they don't get stung like we did. Also as I said the food was ok but nothing special. For the price and a small party good value and probably good quick service for large groups it doesn't work. We certainly won't ever be coming back to this restaurant again which is a shame as the pervious times we had been we couldn't fault the place but this time its just left a sourer taste in our mouth.

We went there for a change,the food was not cooked properly,the cutlery wasn't very clean,couple of the staff & manager was quiet rude towards us for being plus sized which we took offence too,some of the food tasted bland & old,so we will not be going there again.

We made the mistake of ordering our food there instead of phoning the order through. The food was very good and there was a pleasant waiting area. Would go there again.

My brother-in-law uses this place all the time as it is his closest Indian, so I have had the misfortune to go there with him occasionally in the past for takeaways. Service has never been good, they have realised at an early stage that the longer they keep customers waiting the more chance there is of selling more drink. In the end, I stopped going.However, it was his birthday and he invited a 'selected few' to join him so I felt obliged to go. There were only 8 of us and the restaurant was very quiet, (only about 20 per cent full). After a 20 minute wait and three requests, they finally decided to take our order. However, they were reluctant to take orders for our main course, only our starters, consequently, alarm bells started ringing. We had to insist that they took our main course orders at the same time.Our starters came out after about 15-20 minutes but our mains took 3 more requests and a complaint and finally arrived after 1 hour and 15 minutes. Worse still, I had only ordered a curry with a side of chips. They forgot the chips and I had a further wait of 15 minutes, by which time my food was nearly cold and the others had nearly finished their meal.The only response from the waiter was to keep making jokes.ABSOLUTELY DIABOLICAL service ( or more factually, LACK OF).Under no circumstances would I ever return again. As stated above, the food is mediocre and nothing special, the service just a p**s take. They think that by trying to be funny all the time and insulting guests like some sort of Fawlty Towers take off, they can do as they please.

When our local Indian restaurant closed down we tried a number of different restaurants until we came across the Taj. Since then it's become our new 'local' Indian even though it involves a bit of a drive to collect the food (and despite another Indian opening up in our village). The food has always been excellent and the service matches this - the staff are always polite and happy. I'd happily recommend the Taj to anyone wanting a fantastic Indian meal.

J'y suis allée avec des habitués et l'accueil était super, mais j'ai l'impression que tous clients étaient accueillis de la même façon. Tous les plats de la table avec l'air très bons, les miens avaient des parfums incroyables. En plus, c'était très copieux (le naan était juste énorme). Pour terminer, nous avons le traditionnel chocolat à la menthe anglais, mais aussi quelques fruits et une serviette chaude. Petites attentions appréciable. Prix corrects pour l'Angleterre.Un parking pour les clients à l'arrière (il faut le savoir pour oser y rentrer).Nous sommes arrivés à 21 heures mais nous étions loin d'être les derniers.

Always have a takeaway from here every time I am back in the country. Telephone service is always polite and quick. The food is excellent, tasty and packaged well. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

This is without doubt the best Indian restaurant I've ever been to! Me and my partner often come for a dinner here! The food is always delicious and freshly cooked and you're never waiting long for it. Most importantly the people that work here are so kind and welcoming and make the whole dining experience an unforgettable one. They make you feel like part of the family every time that you visit! Visited this restaurant several times and have always been warmly welcomed.The food is good quality but a little too oily for my taste, not sure if that is just the dishes I have chosen or if it is general across the menu.

Went for Tuesday night special. Very sceptica as starter main course side dish rice or naan was only £10. Food was wonderful, keema paratha was one of best I have had. Only wish it was nearer to where I live!

It was only 9oclock restaurant was empty few people came in for take away had pompadoms tasted old not nice and crispy , felt we where pushed in to have side order which we did not touch,the curry was very bland not a good experience .

Went with friends who are locals and told us the place is just da bomb. They were right. All dishes and sundries were out of the top drawer.Superbly friendly and attentive (yet unobtrusive) staff too.Great value.Will be back every time I am in the area.

My daughter and I visited the Taj for Sunday lunch.The food was delicious, but they didn't have any hot plates, so my curry was cold before I had finished half of it. The naan wasn't hot to start with. In addition, they had cold air blasting out of the air conditioning - on a cold spring day.We weren't impressed with the service either. Although we arrived just after 1pm, we felt that we were being rushed and the waiters weren't overly friendly.The Taj lost another "star" because they were painting a door during opening hours and then one of the staff starting hoovering while we were trying to enjoy our lunch.I always leave a tip for the waiters, but I didn't on this occasion as we thought everything - apart from the actual food - left a lot to be desired. Although the restaurant wasn't supposed to close for another 30mins and another party of diners had only just arrived, we were presented with the bill without having asked for it.Shame! As the food was particularly tasty.

Went with friends as part of a large group for a birthday dinner.Food was good and service was prompt. Had no problems dealing with the size of our group. Had a great jalfrezi. Good value has they had a special deal on that night.

I have eaten at this restaurant and had many takeaways since they opened and have rarely been let down. The atmosphere is just right and the staff are only too willing to help in any way that they can. The food is always fresh and hot as well as being very tasty. Their Tuesday evening Special night at £10 per head is excellent value and always packed out and if you want to eat on a Friday or Saturday then you should always book as early as possible as they are nearly always full. )n the whole an excellent restaurant with first class staff and service.

If you try the taj of kent in the lovely village of Marden you will never want to go to another Indian restaurant.....the staff are lovely, the food is absolutely amazing and a very warm welcome awaits you. There is no hurry to finish your meal and nothing is to much trouble.I really cannot say anymore about this lovely Indian restaurant.......well done to you all.

I have eaten here many times over the years, both with friends, my family and groups of children from a local secondary school.The food is consistently good and the staff will always go the extra mile to please the customer. I have my own favourite (lamb korai sag) which they are always happy to cook.Abrus and Delwar, keep up the great work.

I eat here regularly, and I always enjoy my food, the Staff and Mr Ali are always friendly and welcoming and make the experience enjoyable. The food, drink and desserts are good. Always recommended and will always go back.

Staying at Tanners Farm Camp Site recently I went to the Taj for a takeaway ( Veg Jalfrezi), it was superb! Not floating in oil (ghee) like so many others and the veg was not overcooked. Would certainly visit again if in area.

We use this every year we go camping down the road and every year we are met with the same friendliness from the staff. The food is fresh and good portions, no skimping here, we would use the restaurant more if we were nearer. Everyone welcome here, the restaurant has recently been redecorated to keep it fresh. Highly recommended.

recomended to me by a family member,had the chicken vindaloo which was one of best i have had in years,wife had jalfrazi which she said was equally good!,ordered the sag paneer and was a delight,although the decor and carpets a bit dated the food and service made up for it,mr ali is a real character and his team and himself were laughing and joking with everyone,at around 830 the place was rammed but never effected service,good value and 10 percent off too if paying cash which i have not seen before will return soon its that good!

We eat here, both in the restaurant and take away regularly, the food is always freshly cooked and authentic. The service is second to none and quirky, you are made to feel very special. In fact a couple of years ago we had dinner here for my husband's 50th, we mentioned the birthday after we arrived and a chocolate cake and extra drinks appeared at the end of the meal with compliments!!

We visited on a Monday evening following a frustrating day of our own kitchen refurb and still no cooker!It was lovely to walk in and be greeted like old friends and made to feel so welcome. The Cobra and popadoms to start immediately cheered us, the pickles beautifully tasty. The mains, sides, rice and naan were all delicious with particularly fresh flavours. The onion bhajis were a delight, light and crispy. I had a chicken shangora, new to me, which was delicious. My wife, who eats fish and veg, had a wider choice than usual and had a prawn sag which was also perfect.The service was efficient and friendly, and the owner has a great sense of humour. Addressing us as Lord and Lady made us smile. The whole experience cheered us up and was just what we needed

In the days of sheek it's refreshing to go to a good old fashioned value for money Indian restaurant. The Taj delivers all you expect from an Indian restaurant with a warm welcome on your arrival by freshly prepared pickles and poppadoms, not from a tin! The owner and waiters are all very attentive but not over powering offering assistants and guidance while ordering your meal with humour at no extra cost. The main courses where cooked to perfection and more than enough meaning we left with a Bonus takeaway of food. But before we departed complimentary drinks where a nice touch. We will most certainly return.

Visited this restaurant Wednesday 19th early evening - very cold!! A warm welcome straight away and a table by a heater was provided. A vindaloo had to be ordered and this along with the bombay aloo and mushroom bhaji was really tasty. Wish we lived nearer so that we could frequent this great establishment more. Definately worth a visit.

There are not many restaurants that bring you back by the attentiveness & friendliness of the staff - but Ali and his team do just that. Always bringing a smile to my family & I, which makes for a great evening out as well as a great meal. The food is lovely, if you need help choosing - ask, they will be happy to help or even create something for you. Tuesday night deals are great - just make sure you book as they are always full. Somebody commented on the decor - not everybody has the money to invest in swanky restaurants, especially in this modern day climate. Some of the best restaurants are those that surprise you, this is well worth a visit, because I'm still yet to find a curry house with the extent of choices that they have here or with the flavours that they offer. Keep up the good work guys - will be back soon.

Good food, staff very attentive. Well attended by locals which is usually a good signexcellent value, staff are so friendly. We attended as two of our party live locally, Worth the drive.
