Fantastic food and great service, one of the best takeaways in Belper!!

We had a kebab from Taj of Belper last night and it was amazing and it was delivered to our campsite within the said time . Can't be faulted in anyway so give them a try you will not be disappointed.

since when did a tikka masala taste exactly like a korma? dyeing it a ridiculous shade of red doesnt make up for the fact that you can literally feel the chunks of coconut in the curry. the curry - way too sweet and an absolute disappointment. naan - stone cold and no flavour (i got a garlic naan). chips - DEAD. would never in my life think about recommending this place.

Dont go hear if yiu like good kebabs used ti be the best place in belper now its bland allways cold tandoori chicken leg looks old and almost rotten used to be regulars hear but stoped coz the quality went thought give it ago as was only place open and it was disgusting

Good location, easy walking distance from local B&Bs, cash machine not working so we had to walk to Morrisons (not accepting card payments??) Hard to read menu on the screen above counter as it keeps changing screen, and only a paper pizza menu was readily available I chose pizza and didn’t receive what I ordered (veg sizzler, supposed to have olives, mushrooms, but mine came with chicken and jalapeños) good job I am not vegan or veggie! Didn’t realise til we got back home so didn’t return it. Chips were nice Partner had vegan curry and enjoyed this, and staff were knowledgable about what naan bread he could / couldn’t have Probably wouldn’t go back

Worst kebab I've had in many years. Stone cold poor quality meat nearly broke a tooth on gristle or bone in the shish meat. I won't be returning.

ordered food off foodhub. took a stupid amount of time to deliver and then they forgot one of the drinks we paid for off the order. food came more cold than hot and all of it is just overly oily and greasy slop. have to say this is one of the worst takeaways I've had from belper. I've used Taj a number of times and they've let us down with this one.

I was served a 10 inch pizza while on a night out with friends and family and as I opened the box to my pizza there was a hair in my pizza and I asked for a new one as I wasn’t comfortable with eating a pizza with a hair in it the staff member who was at the till apologised and took it back. I felt very uncomfortable even though I wasn’t in the wrong as I’m making sure I’m being served hygienic food and don’t want to catch any illness’s, while the pizza was being brought back over to me the cashier had a smile and said sorryI personally believe after this place was rated so unhygienic it should have closed down but after this I will never be returning even after giving the benefit of the doubt to them and ordering online as I feel very disrespected and I won’t be recommending them to no one.

The service was appalling. I found a chunk of hair in my chips. The food was overall dry and I can tell why they have a 1 star hygiene rating. Never eating again. Don’t order vinderloo got food poisoning. #BoycottTajofBelper

Absolutely disgusting had hair in my food when I went to the shop got told it wasn’t possible disgusting service disgusting attitude of staff got threatened with the police and refused a refund no knowledge of hygiene how is this place still open????

If I could put no stars I would. We ordered on 27/09/2022. The food quality has massively gone downhill. My husband got food poisoning from the curry.

Large donner shish ordered, absolute joke! Less donner meat than you would expect on a small and shish cut into tiny pieces to look like more. Phoned the shop, admitted they had not put anywhere enough meat on and said if I wanted they will run some up shortly. Money taking greedy gets....... chips were like cardboard too. Not good

Just shocking ordered the food chased the order said will be soon when it arrived it was cold and dry. Have used many times in the past but had gone down hill will not be ordering again.

Lovely pizza but surprised in this day and age to be charged extra for paying by card. Normally pay cash. Very disappointed and I believe no charges should apply now for using cards.

Tasteless, cold and tough lamb dish we could have made with sainsbury's sauces quicker and better (90minutes really) and poppadoms and naans paid for but never delivered. Avoid. We are seeking full refund.

I eat a lot of Indian food. I often find the quality of a take away meal is less than a sit in meal. Not the case with the Taj. I ordered a lamb Tikka Madras and this was restaurant quality . I don’t give 5 * for no reason. This takeaway was excellent. Thanks chaps see you soon Jonathan

Had the special mixed grill takeaway. First time at this place. 5 star hygiene rating, friendly staff. At around £17, for this two person dish, it was super value. Food cooked SO well, all meats succulent, not dry. Loads of flavour, restaurant quality rice and naan. We have good appetites, but ended up taking some home. I wish I lived closer, this would be a favourite. Lots of choice in Belper, but I don't think we could have chosen better.

I was in my local in Ripley and feeling peckish. I asked everyone in the pub “what’s the best place to get a donner kebab”? I expected to be told about places in Ripley, but almost everyone said The Taj in Belper. I ordered and took delivery within the hour. Wow, it was as good as it gets. Try them, you will not be disappointed.

Great food as always, 5 stars food hygiene too but not 1 mask in evidence when I called in to collect, a bit of a concern.

Proper kebab! Just fancied one and it didn’t disappoint. Very friendly and when asked for some additional bits instead of the change they looked after us nicely - would recommend the donor kebab from these guys without hesitation. Thanks!

Unfortunately due to numerous mistakes with our last few orders and the quality going downhill we now go to a different takeaway after years of supporting Taj

Ordered take away which was delivered in 30 mins so no problem with that. I had veg pizza & portion of Mozzarella sticks & Garlic dip, that was nice, my partner had Donner Kebab which he kept spitting out as it had a lot of hard fatty bits in, he ate his nann bread but ended up leaving the meat. The fries were dry he left most of them.

My partners pizza and fries was lovely but my kebab was full of grizzly bits I couldn’t eat it so was a waste, I’ve tried it not to use again.

I have ordered from taj for years and after the service i received yesterday, i will not be going back, the order was wrong paid £18.90 and when i rang they told me theres was nothing they can do 😡😡, very dissatisfied.

THE worst takeaway ive ever had. Order was half wrong to begin with, but The curry i did get was bland, wet, flavourless, and dull. The sauce was babyfood and the chicken was dry. They should be ashamed for serving this slop. Do not use.

Well what can I say ! The woman before me wrong order, I got home wrong order and charged me totally wrong because of it when it should have been alot cheaper. What a mess and about time they got their act together instead of thinking they can make more and more money without customer satisfaction

Myself and my family have ordered from here for a very long time. The food we have been receiving as of late have been very disappointing. Tonight we thought we would give them 1 last go and I wish we hadn't. To start of with we were charged £2.50 delivery charge and a £0.40 service charge which even before our food that's £2.90 added to our food. The quality was sub standard and over cooked. I am extremely disappointed with taj because they were the best takeaway in town.

Went in told me I can’t pay on card only online in abrupt manor By the main guy on the counter and Then i went to three cash machines as everywhere was low in cash. Went back, waited 25 mins for a simple kebab. At this point ya thinking this will be worth it...see the photo!!.. a cut naan and a baby portion of food for a tenner ... never again don’t ever bother !

Had a chicken meal from here, the chicken batter was rock hard as if it had been reheated, the skin was a tough brown leather, hard all the way through, the chips were like you had taken frozen chips and warmed them up, soggy and bendy and raw, sweated for ages in a polystyrene carton. Onion rings were the same. Wet and soggy. The coleslaw was kept in with the hot food and was very warm, it put me off coleslaw for life, used to be a good place, I was hungry after because 99% of it went in the bin . Disgusting, I rang and told them this was the 3rd time this had happened and that we won't order from there again

Used to have the same chicken tikka masala and the past few now have been very water thin and oily. Even when i dipped the nan into the sauce it just pulled the oil out. Not ordering anymore...

Had to ring and ask where our order was after nealy over 2 hours, excuse was that was busy and forgot. Then got given regular after ordering a large. When rang to question this, got told was there problem. Also the meals that we got given had brown lettuce, mushy out of date tomatoes and sparse dried out chicken. Dont waste your money or time. Shocking

Prices have rocketed beyond belief and you still only get a pre packaged bought in nan. Taj its nice,but its not restraunt price nice.

Bit disappointed with kebab tonight!, was very greasy, hardly any chicken or lamb in it,, asked for side salad got a tiny bag of cabbage, and worst of all!, the nan was undercooked and very doughy, and reaked of garlic powder!!, come on guys, fresh garlic all the way!, garlic powder is disgusting!, nans should be light and a little bit crispy on the charrd parts, this was worst kebab I've ever had from taj's, used to love them, won't be going back until I know it's improved. Very disappointing, gonna have to find new kebab place now. 🤢💩

6 pieces of pineapple did not make me feel like I was in Hawaii . I was hoping for an experience never to forget

I was stuck at ambergate railway station due to work so decided between trains to nip into Belper for something to eat, there were 3 pizza shops right near each other so I picked this one taj’s. I looked at the menu and struggled to decide what I wanted and as time was ticking by I decided to have a spicy pizza and chips. They all came pipping hot so off I scuttled back to the car and back to ambergate station car park to eat my food. The pizza was thin based and had plenty of topping but I can’t put my finger on it but it seemed to me there was just something missing flavour wise. Looking at the other reviews it might of just been me being picky but the pizza and chips just didn’t hit that spot. Parking is not to bad as a local carpark only across the road 50p for 30 mins.. seats inside if you want to eat inside but not the cleanest as they had delivery bags on a couple of tables and a box of opened menus underneath it. But give it a try it might be different for you

Belper, like many such small towns manages to ensure its occupants do not go hungry with no shortage of take-aways and restaurants dotted around it.

The Taj is the place to go in Belper when in need of a kebab. Great menu selection with burgers, kebabs, pizzas, garlic breads and curries. Pretty much everything is catered for here. Always been good from here and i've never had any problems with the food or service. Nice bunch of people, would recommend.

Good keebab with well flavoured tandoori chicken. Lamb kebab is tasty and not greasy. Option to eat in and lots of choices of soft drinks.

This establishment never fails, wonderful food everytime. Delivery times are never too long, and the food always arrives within time. 10 out of 10. Will be recommending to all family and friends.

Kebab chips and a pizza ordered. Delivery time accurate. Food is fantastic and the last few times have been even nicer than before! Donner kebab was fresh tasting and warm! Nan cooked perfectly. Chips have even improved not as soggy as before and they where nice then,now they are cooked to perfection! Pizza as I have been informed is yum! Favourite take away!! Highly recommend 5*

When we first started ordering it was fantastic no complaints, but after a while it seems we became regulars a few times parts of our orders have been missed off the last few kebabs we've had have had very minimal kebab meet more chips than anything... We will stop ordering from here now unfortunately.

We've ordered frm Taj a few times now for take-aways. The quality of the food's usually ok. However, tonight I specifically asked for a delivery at 10pm. I rang at 8.50. I also said that my partner wouldn't be home until 'til 10 and please not to deliver before. Good job that I was in as it was delivered around 21.05. Well, what can I say efficient, yes. My partner arrived just after 10 and was unimpressed with having to 'nuke' his meal. Freshly cooked? I think not. How many times has this food been delivered as 'fresh'?

Could not fault service, my chicken was really grissily I was a bit disappointed to say how good the reviews were.

The food was so late that the bread had gone soggy and the sauce had solidified. The chicken was tough as boots and was cold. Very disappointed
