Chose this restaurant for a birthday meal. Excellent service the staff couldn’t do enough for us, food was amazing. Definitely going back!

We had a meal at the Chef de Mumbai and what a find this was. Authentic Indian cuisine and the best we have eaten for years. Would highly recommend the restaurant and the service was fabulous - such lovely people.

The best curry ever, again and again. This is our go to curry house. Really generous portions and excellent quality.

BEWARE, this has changed names and owners, but most of the good review are for previous owner / staff. I was eager to go here after so many lovely meals in the past, but god this has changed. the food is now terrible, very expensive, chicken in curry's did not taste fresh, the nan bread and roti was so dry, and the onion bhaji dripping in oil and burnt. First time I've been in any Indian restaurant without table cloths and just paper napkins, and badly fitting seat covers, the staff were slow in every way and the decor terrible, its run like a cheap cafe. I do not think they deserve even one star. Only good point is there is plenty of space to park in the car park. Below was written 6 years ago under different owners and staff An unusually nice Indian restaurant, food is different but totally outstanding, lovely service, and keeping up with modern times, there is a button on each table, and if you need service, just press the call button and the service appears immediately, no more waiting to catch a waitress if you need something. Very friendly staff who go the extra bit to make sure its a perfect experience. I would very highly recommend this place.

The new management at this restaurant are friendly and offer a great dining experience as well as a takeaway service. Our meal here was very enjoyable with an authentic menu cooked to a high standard. Service was also friendly and attentive. The location is ideal for us having recently moved close by. Plenty of parking available and plenty of space in the restaurant. Only drawback might be that it is not a place easily walkable to if that's your choice. Overall a very enjoyable experience and we'll be back.

First visit to this restaurant and it will not be our last. The food is excellent, a menu with something for everyone cooked in an authentic Indian style. The service was extremely welcoming and friendly and the quality of the food stood out.....really good experience, I would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant if you want to go to the next level in Induan cuisine.

Very tasty food. More expensive than your average Indian but the food is worth it. My only negative £7.40 for a pint of Peroni.

Had a takeaway delivered, It came way ahead of the ETA and the flavours are simply fantastic. The Railway Lamb Curry was probably one of the best I have eaten for a long time

Staying overnight in campervan to catch ferry in the morning. Had food to allow the stay for free. Food was amazing, perfect start to a vacation. My wife even atone point said was probably the best curry she has ever had. Staff are also all very friendly and relaxed. Loved it, will be back again for sure.

We stayed here overnight in our motorhome prior to sailing to France. Then we were pleased to see that the pub offered authentic Indian cuisine.... then we ordered.... Utterly fabulous food! Original menu, not the usual madras, dhansak etc. (although they're lovely too!!). All made in an open kitchen and did I say how absolutely delicious the food was? The staff were wonderful, friendly and attentive without being too intrusive. Can't give it less than 5 stars.

I'm sorry, but this is the most disgusting place (now it's called differently) Chef De Mumbai…. 😉Food is decent, but service is disgusting! The waiters do not know the menu, are rude, climb into the plates with dirty hands! And the most interesting thing is that they deceive without hesitation .... If you are a tourist, then they will do the same to you! Check the bill 100 times (maybe they will count you a glass of wine for a bottle) this is their tradition ..... In one word - if I get hungry, I will never go back there and my friends will never waste time and money in such a terrible place! I have a pretty complete video of this restaurant that I can share with everyone (especially the manager of this restaurant). The photo shows rice waiting for the waiter (who is in no hurry) We waited for food for 45 minutes! Rice next to detergents is chemistry and very dangerous to health!

Chef de Mumbai restaurant opened recently and I can't rate it highly enough. For anyone who likes Indian food this is a must - visit place. Exquisite food and beautifully presented.

Table of 16 on a Saturday night!!. The service our party received was without fault, 3 families, 3 separate orders, 3 split bills. The food all arrived in sequence and we ate as one family, all was piping hot, perfectly presented, and a very attentive service from all the team. The manager was always there to ensure all drinks were replenished and everyone was happy with all entities. I would highly recommend this establishment. Menu is a perfect selection for all pallets and can be amended per request if needed. We all throughly enjoyed our evening and will be returning in the near future. A very big well done on the experience all customers received throughout the evening. 10/10. Thankyou.!

Excellent food and service! Went for a family meal. They had a great selection of dishes, lots of interesting and different to the ‘standard’ Indian menu. Plenty of vegetarian and fish dishes and they did children’s menu too! Extremely tasty food which you can see them preparing as the kitchen is in the room. The staff were very welcoming would definitely recommend stopping by!

The food here is delicious! 10/10 would recommend, authentic and tasty food. Refreshing menu with real Indian dishes not made up western dishes. Leave your butter chicken behind try something new, you can’t go wrong here! Tons of vegetarian and meat options. Service is fantastic. New owner is super friendly and servers are funny and helpful. They also allow camper-vans to stay overnight in the parking lot if you have a meal. Not a bad trade off when you realise the food is amazing. Definitely come by, you will not be disappointed!!

The food and the host at Swingate are both absolutely wonderful! We were accidental visitors. We got a flat tire on the road outside. While waiting for a tow, we had a wonderful meal and great company. They even stayed up late past 11:30pm so we could stay in the lobby waiting for the tow truck! Amazing circumstances, but even better people and food! Thank you so much!!

We visited the night before ferry crossing to Calais. Parked overnight for free in our Motorhome providing we ate In restaurant. Quiet location about 7 minute drive to ferry terminal. Delicious dinner with very friendly owner and staff. We will be visiting again upon our return to UK as the experience was so good!

Are standards are high when it comes to good Indian food and there are alot to choose from in and around this area but extremely glad we decided on this restaurant. From the beginning the staff were from and helpful but the real treat was seeing their Chefs at work in the open kitchen they have. From the skills of the chef Maki the fresh Nan bread, how he times it just right is amazing, to the wonderful dishes being made by the other couple of Chefs, dipping into their little pots of spices and chilies to make the most wonderful flavored dishes we have had in a long time at any Indian Restaurant. Thus is a place worth the trip, simply for the outstanding ability to produce such great curries. We will be back.

Very good food, if in a motorhome you can park overnight for free if using the restaurant or pay £20. Service great and serving staff very attentive.

We decided to eat here as they have lots of vegetarian and vegan options on the menu. Some of which were inventive and not your standard curry, which was nice to see. The staff were friendly and the quality and portion sizes of the food were very good. Will go again

Phoned to order a curry and got a very awkward staff member which stated they do not cater for vegetarians. We have just moved into the area and looking for a decent curry house - I thought this day and age most places catered for vegetarians, or at least would replace meat with vegetables if asked but they would not. Edit: visited again to give another chance. There are very limited options for vegetarians still - the staff are completely unwilling to substitute meat for vegi options, perhaps the meals are pre cooked and that is the reason. Anyway, if you eat meat then I’m sure it’s a nice place, they are however very anti vegetarian.

The best curry you will find outside London in this part of the world. Fantastic food and friendly service. I have eaten curry all my life. Since I left London this the place I come to to take the wife out when we want a curry.

Worst indian, sorry punjabi meal l have had in over 40 years. Ordered the lamb Boti starter. What was described as as "tender cubes of marinated lamb cooked to perfection in the tandoor" turned out to be very compressed balls of red coloured tasteless lamb under cooked in the under fired tandoor. The lamb was raw in the middle and would stretch when pulled apart. I sent it back and 5 minutes later was given another attempt, this was a little blackened on the outside but still raw when opened up. I then cancelled the rest of the meal and paid for what we had already eaten and left. I had asked for a chicken tikka dhansak main but was told they only did ordinary chicken? Also they did not do onion bhajee as it was a punjabi restaurant. Totally unforgettable for all the wrong reasons. Oh and were announced as a "walk in"! very welcoming.

Lovely atmosphere good food loved the Somosa starter very authentic. The main meals was delicious including the rice. Lovely staff attentive making sure we had a good night Very nice valentines night will be booking again to taste this authentic Indian food. Well done to the chefs 14/02/23

Simply stunning from start to finish. Impeccable service and delicious food. Definitely the best curry I have ever tasted. We dined as a group of 17 and every order was spot on and cooked to perfection. We will definitely be back!

Best thing on the plate was the cold chips, and who likes a cold chip? Korma tasted nothing like a Korma - was just like a bland watery yogurt - mixed with the rice it was just a rice pudding.. Sag aloo looked and tasted like something that had come out the dog. Delivery came way before estimated which normally wouldn’t be a problem, but would have preferred the extra 45 mins was put into making the food nicer Overall, extremely disappointing - this is the first and last time we will be ordering here.

Nice restaurant and the service was good. Some of the food were good, but some were not up to the mark. The biryani served was no where near the standards of proper biryani.

Man kann hier mit camper kostenlos übernachten, wenn man das Restaurant benutzt, Küche leider sehr früh zu, trinken darf man noch was, aber dann trotzdem 20 pfund bezahlen? Traurig, unflexibel, schade, wir kommen nicht wieder...

If you're in Dover and fancy an Indian meal, this is the place to go to. The food here was 10/10.

Ordered takeaway to be delivered, great customer service on the phone, was asked what i would like and everything repeated back to me. Was told how long i would have to wait which was within an hr which again was perfect and the food was amazing. The quality and taste of what we ordered was stunning. For a real authentic indian meal would highly recommend. Looking forward to my next one.

Visiting Dover with family and tried to order, it looks like they they don’t care about customers as they are too busy…. while ordering on phone I was told 1 hour but then suddenly I’m the middle of order was told 3 hours while the guy was struggling to find what I wanted to order. Never gonna try and and sont recommended at all👎👎👎

Ok but don't like £5 delivery and if u go in to restrant to eat side dishes are a good size potion but when u get home delivery u get really all sides but eating in is really nice food

Great food, just needed a shami kebab on the menu to get 5 stars.

Excellent quality food, friendly and efficient staff. Food arrived quickly even with a busy restaurant. Our table was booked for 7 pm and by 8.45 it was clear the restaurant was closing eg staff were vacuuming the carpet and the kitchen was being washed down.
